Located in the centre of the county of Essex in a rural setting Canadian Transportation Museum is a great little place to visit yourself or with friends and family. They have a replica 50s diner if you're hungry. If you are an avid car fan and love historical vehicles I recommend that you check the museum and be sure to have a chat with the staff and tour guides. They are both knowledgeable and friendly. They may even have a story or two to share with you. :-)

Would you like to support a organistion has no dignity and respect for the volunteers? Would you like to participate in creating that culture or recording that history without DIGNITY and RESPECT?

Great breakfast.

We came from out of town (300 miles) and were here on June 9th. We drove for the flea market and car show. Got there, and signs said cancelled. Okay, well wanted to at least see the car museum. We go inside and everything is closed up and people were looking at us funny. There were 6-8 cars outside in the foyer area and that was it. Super disappointed for that long of a drive. Wished we could have seen the cars.

F Stags

The village is nice. Needs way more transportation related item/artifacts

Great place to learn, wonderful staff, and great food

Sherrill Bullis

Love the actual Museum and property. All the recreated Vintage stores and services are beautiful. Makes for a nice family day. The Flea Markets are now $3 a person which we all feel is a little expensive though.

Larry T

Looks like a great place. But, we drove 3 hours and was told it was closed. Because there wasn't enough staff to operate the museum or villiage, due to a flea market. Not impressed as we have been waiting all summer to go. Paid 60.00 in gas to drive here. Probably will not do the trip again.

Mike Clough

Not much to see.

It was good to go there and to see all the old cars that have been restored or the ones that have been owned by the same owner since the car was new! I love all the old muscle cars from the 1960's to the early 1970's especially the old Mopars!

Awesome car collection. The ambulance museum is pretty neat, but pretty small as well. The village was closed up when we were there but we could walk the grounds no problem after getting a visitor pass. The staff went out of their way to help us with a tour since we were there on off hours(this room twice a day, 10(I think) and 1. Definitely looking forward to going back and getting a proper your of the village.

Joan Welsh

we were just there today for a "Classic Car Show". What a joke! from beginning, to breakfast, to the the end......worst car show in Essex/ Kent County! Dont waste your time or money at this car show! and dont go for breakfast! it takes well over an hour to get a couple of eggs and bacon!!!

David L

Great place to visit alone or with family / friends. Take the full tour in the car museum and village, then have lunch in their 50's diner. It's an awesome experience that takes you back in time. Prices are very reasonable.

E Ford

It's a smaller museum but is compensated by the knowledgeable guided tour and local historical items. There is a heritage village as well which operates seasonally. The onsite 50s-style diner turns out pretty good food for a reasonable price.

So much to see in the museum. They have an amazing amount of vehicles to look at. The 50's Diner has great food definitely a destination.

Keith AndLinda Baldrey

We had a wonderful time exploring the ambulance and vehicle museum. Due to our coach schedule we were limited in the time we could spend viewing the vintage automobiles. A great deal of walking to view the historic buildings.

Bob White

What a hidden gem! It's mis-named...it's a miniature of Greenfield Village, or Fanshawe Pioneer Village, though with fewer programs, buildings and staff. Still, the 1800 era buildings extend far beyond view from the road, and the Diner is cute and authentic, but only limited menu (breakfast, sandwiches, burgers and dogs). We attended the Flea Market Sep. 14, 2019...WAY more vendors than I expected. We checked the program and we are looking to return for another event and visit once or twice a year.

We were lucky enough to go on a Friday morning when a group from the MG Club were there having breakfast in the diner. They had graciously lined their cars up outside on the grass and we got to check them out! We chose to go through the transportation museum with a tour guide named Malcolm. He was extremely well-informed and brought everything to life for us. So many vehicles, where do I begin! The first thing we saw looked like a Flintstone mobile. The wheels were carved from thick wood and the entire thing was also made from wood. It's amazing what was accomplished hundreds of years ago! I particularly liked an exquisitely hand-carved hearse on display. It apparently took a few years to carve this red oak beauty! Everything from horse-drawn carriages to high horse power cars, fire engines and trucks. You won't be disappointed. Allow 1 1/2 hours if you choose a guide. We had a light lunch in the 50s diner. Great value.

Chris Drouillard

We go to different events here every year. Flea markets, car shows, and a bunch of different stuff. Stopped in for breakfast recently and it was good. I also like see the old buildings in the village, there is so much history there. Worth checking it out.

We were truly amazed by the beauty of the cars!! Our guide,Paul was awesome, taking us down this view of automobiles we can dream about ,and really wanting a vintage car.Thank you,we will be back!

Early morning meeting places for the guys, good conversation and friendly staff. Breakfast , sandwiches and burgers, very good and home cooked right in front of you. There is still a few old cars and memorabilia to purchase. Building can be rented for private parties and wedding . Open Tuesday thru Sunday til 2.pm.

History Lesson !

Staff are incredibly friendly, great local heritage information and great tours. They have field trips that fit with the curriculum for many grades and are all designed to be things typically not performed in the classroom. The facility is maintained and ran by mostly volunteers all of whom are very dedicated to the work they do and are passionate about history and teaching others. I highly recommend this as a great place to learn while having fun. There is also a great room used for exhibitions, events and weddings as well as a diner.
