It was really beautiful the bridge was a real treat to walk over. I noticed that they have started to put padlock on the fence. I hope they take them off before it ruins the bridge. It was well worth the time we spent there

Jarrett Beck

The suspension bridge leads you over to a lovely set of trails but most important was dipping toes in the Yukon. I've been there so many times since I was a kid but it never gets old.

(Translated) The Yukon River is a beautiful emerald green river in this area, flowing through the valley. It is a superb view when viewed from above the suspension bridge. Looking at the signboard, it seems that trails for walking and bicycles are in place. Walking along the riverside trails will make you feel good. The river width around here is extremely narrow. Looking upstream from the suspension bridge, you can see the river meandering, and there are rocky rocks in the river. Before the power plant dam was built, this area used to be a rapid current swirling rapids. It is the origin of the name of White Horse that the white wave of Hayase was like a mane of Hakuba.

Nice little place to stop by along the highway, featuring a rickety suspension bridge and gorgeous views of a canyon. Unfortunately i stopped by on an overcast day. I’m sure the views would be that much nicer on a sunny day. Lots of trails around the area as well, but make sure you’re bear aware!

The water is turquoise, fast-flowing and clear. Not overly developed and no fencing along the gorge, so littles need to be closely monitored. Really want to kayak this!! Trails on both sides.

Christine Yablonka

Took the hike to Canyon City, and also hiked down the opposite way to the end of the lake. Unless you're just in the mood for a walk, you don't miss to much if you just drive and park at Canyon City instead of doing the trail.

(Translated) Very nice place and easy walk for everyone. You can either park a short drive away (be careful, some roads to get there are closed from October to May) or you can walk there from Whitehorse. For this, count a loop between 15 and 20km (without great difficulty) depending on the path you take. Because yes, it is not necessarily easy to find your way from Whitehorse, which is why I only give 4 stars.

Certainly one of the most scenic natural sites near Whitehorse. Only a short walk from the parking area to the suspension bridge. If you allow for - at least - one hour to enjoy the views, sights and sounds around the small and not very deep canyon, you will experience the impact on your mind, can unwind, and even enjoy watching various animals like foxes, etc.

I am a resident of Whitehorse and I love Miles Canyon. You can walk, cross country ski, mountain bike, etc. there. We used to walk our dogs there. We also did a bridal shoot there. My favourite spot I visited in Whitehorse. In the off season (I was there at the end of April) the gate is closed and you have to park by the highway and walk in. It can be a bit treacherous (snowy/icy road and paths) but it's not too bad. Once you get there, the view of the canyon is gorgeous. Would love to go back in the summer and check out the trails.

Laura King

What a wonderful place to visit not far outside of Whitehorse. Lots of parking available. Great hiking trails and the suspension bridge is really cool to be able to walk across. Family and dog friendly place! The turquoise blue waters of the canyon are truly a sight to see!

Peter Fan

Good place for a casual, scenic walk around the canyon. The bridge itself is not all that impressive.

Jeremy Hannaford

This is a must see trail to walk in Whitehorse. The colours of the water and the landscape are amazing to behold. Either way provides amazing views to see. We walked to Canyon City which was an old mining area. All that's left is a trail cart and an infographic to explain but it was still a lovely trail.

Nice walk/hike. Fairly easy. But beware of the tree roots. They are prolific. Miles Canyon was created by the Yukon River flowing through basaltic lava. The lava was created 8.5 million years ago from a nearby vent. After the Whitehorse power dam was built, Schwatca Lake was created and the water level through Miles Canyon was raised by about 33 feet or 10 meters.

Daniel Appleby

Amazing colours and views. You can stop for a quick 5 minutes or hike the trails for more than an hour. Some of the path along the water is pretty sketchy so I would be very careful with kids or dogs.

One of my favourite places to visit close to Whitehorse, and a must-see for any tourist. Stunningly beautiful and historically interesting. Not well marked for a first-time visit: as in, no signage and the road is open in season only. New bridge (as of 2017) to ensure a safe crossing of the river. Lots of trails to explore.

If you are looking for a break from your travels or a place to get out and breathe that clean Yukon air, this is a marvelous place to try. The trail system here offers several different options. You can hike across the bridge and do a 10 minute walk down to the first corner of you can take a couple hours and explore. The trail winds it way along the edge of the canyon offering stunning views of the blue-green water and the rock formations below. This is a good place to bring the whole family unless you have young kids who like to wander. One slip over the edge can ruin a nice hike.
