Just a couple of minutes drive from our house, we are blessed to have access to this window to the Ocean. This is called 1001 steps, although the steps are not really 1001. The top of the steps are located on the Crescent buff from where the zigzag of steps take you down to the beach. You go over this caged bridge and it always gives me a sense of security from the flying dinosaurs in Jurassic park 2. It gives a beautiful (wish I had a better word... did try spectacular, amazing....) view of the ocean. Every once in a while you can sea harbor seals, eagles, herons, and other wild life. During the summers, this provides us a go to point when we swim from Blackie Spit in the deeper part.

A lovely area with beautiful wide wooden stairs. It trails gradually up the hillside with many good spots to stop and rest without blocking other patrons, some including benches. Access going over the rail tracks has beautiful views out over the water.

101 Steps is an amazing park, a great way to get some exercise on the way to the park. You need to take the steps down to the beach. I would not recommend this park to someone who is not in shape. - A Richard Trus review

A beautiful location for an intense workout, a relaxing shortcut to a less commercial beach, and a great place for quiet contemplation surrounded by nature's beauty.

The location appears to lock up at certain times of the year, so best to plan accordingly unless you're keen to jump fences.

If you live in the area, and are not currently taking advantage of this awesome site, I STRONGLY encourage you to do so. This and the intimidating but falsely named 1001 Stairsteps are local treasures. The beaches may be rocky, but the view is endless and the steps themselves are of course their own experience. It always feels like stepping into a forest straight out of LotR with all the crazy angled grandfather-octopus trees and lush vine growth. Great place to get some active-recovery light-cardio in on the steps! Or you can even make this a full-on sweat seash where you fire up yer backside like mad! No membership fee required! My PROFESSIONAL advice as a Certified Personal Trainer is to ONLY RUN the steps ON THE WAY UP AND ON THE WAY UP ONLY :) ???? your knees will thank you later!! And focus on FIRING and PUSHING through the glutes kids! ???? Anyway, off topic! Sorry Google! So here's a recipe for a good-time: *Supplement use is subject to local laws, age requirements and recommended dosages. Please use RESPONSIBLY dummy!* 1. Walk down to beach with supplies 2. Sit, chill, take your fave BCAA/carb powder/creatine/l-carnitine/alkalized-water shake 3. Take a puff of your favorite pure-sativa (Durban Poison or Scout Master shatter) ???????? 4. Warm Up ???? 5. Lift rocks and other awkwardly-shaped objects, and just drop 'em or even throw them when you're done! Can't do THAT at the gym! ???????????? 6. CONQUER DEM STEPS!!! (walk on your way back down each lap!!) Do intervals, or a specific # of sets/laps, or just until exhaustion/muscle fatigue 7. Sit, chill, take your fave post-workout protein/carb powder/creatine stack 8. STRETCH EET OUT (specially glutes/hams/calves!) 9. Leave the place in better condition than you found it: pack out all you brought in, pick up a piece of trash or 20 10. GO HOME AND NAP ????????????????????????

Nice little hidden access point to the rocky beach. Nice view. Be wary of the hours for gate closures! Spring/Summer hours are past 6pm.

5 minutes walk from our house. We come here at least once a week(sometimes Every Night!!), bring a picnic, blanket, pail and shovels-spring, summer and fall. great for kids! Beautiful sunsets and cloud formations, rock and shell collecting, bird watching, even the odd seal sometimes. Great early evening meeting point for friends with some added exercise!

Good walking spot.

Christopher R

Great workout.

Andy Lai

Beautiful spot, much like all the other spots along the crescent beach, very rocky type of terrain and not many flat spots. It is recommended that you wear layers as it can get really windy and cold as sun sets down during autumn and winter. It is a gated entry so be mindful of the closure time.

Fabio

Fun and challenging. Even a 3 year old can power through it

If you look closely you can see at the top of each set of stairs someone has very nicely number the steps …. Don’t think it includes the one over the railway tracks but it’s very well maintained

Beautiful staircase down through the old-growth hemlocks and redcedars of the bluff, a footbridge over the railway, gorgeous view of Mud Bay and Point Roberts. When you get to the beach, go right to walk toward Crecent Beach. Left will take you to an informal nude beach.

Not much of steps, but for a short set of steps, there is a great view. Best time for a nice view is during sunset as you will see the gleaming of the sunlight span across the water.

Convenient and well kept steps at the bottom of 24 Ave that lead down to the water. If you are planning to use these steps, be prepared for rocky terrain along the beach and a steep descent/ascent. These steps go over the railway.

What a great place for the family to enjoy a daily challenge like a simple stair climb. My family and I have been enjoying this stair challenge for quite sometime, even my 3 year old daughter achieves this. Hope you enjoy.

Winsy Chan

We went down the Christopherson Steps, then walked on the rocky beach, and went up the 1001 Steps, it was a great work out! By the way, this beach is clothing optional too (we didn't know until we got there haha).

K Mack

Gorgeous viewpoint. A great place to do step exercises.

Danielle Link

AMAZING!!! yes there are a lot of steps but the views are incredible, so many bald eagles flying over head, herons in the water, the ocean view is amazing, walking along the beach there are so many little crabs walking and sea shells, loved it, I could have stayed there all day just to watch the ocean and the birds

It's just metal stairs that lead over the tracks. Very handy for getting home when the train is rolling by, also good to get some exercise if you like doing stairs, as there's a lot of them and you've got a stunning view on the way down.

Holly Becker

Nice steps down to the water. Great exercise

John Q

Beautiful spot. 191 steps to the beach. Rocky with some sandy spots once inside water. If you like trains, there is a steel overpass over the tracks giving you a good point of view of the passing locomotive. Tons of shells and little sea creatures makes it attractive for the inquisitive youngsters.

Jordan Dahm

Laura DeRosier

Great view in the way down. It can get slippery in the rain. Lots of steps, if you have a small child, expect to carry them part way.

Alison W

It’s fun to walk down to the beach from top of Christopherson road. And it’s a good cardio exercise when you walk up to the top

Good entrance to the beach. It can be quite busy and there minimal parking. The entrance is currently closed and the steps are under construction.
