I love it here in the off season winter months when most visitors are locals who abide by the signs heading into the spit. Quiet and many different migratory shore birds to observe. It's a nature reserve of sorts, a protected sensitive area for migratory birds, so we need to respect their needs and environment. Today walking in there (May 31) was heartbreaking... overcrowded, people ignoring the NO DOGS ALLOWED sign, people with event tents set up and BBQs, kites, boomboxes, trash, evidence of bonfires, and more. This no longer is a safe haven for birds. So sad to witness. I wish Surrey Parks would have park officers out to educate and regulate, as well as enhance signages. #LeaveNoTrace #RespectWildlife

Nice park. Nice off leash dog area but is very muddy at low tide. Would be great to have a dog rinse in the park. Watch for areas where dogs are not allowed- I hear heavy tickets have been unnecessary issued.

Great little beach... off leash dog area is lovely but a little small... no dogs allowed on the path tho, so if you want icecream, & have a dog, you need to walk through the neighborhood instead of the oceanfront trail... lol ????

Nice sunset place for family visit. Parking might be an issue but move around for some time and you will find a good spot. Make it a evening picnic there by reaching around 6ish to enjoy dinner with view and sunset.

In love with this place. I have never been through this place before. But trust me if you want to hangout in Surrey that's the coolest place. We went there at night and the environment was so lovely. There is no parking inside allowed after 10:30pm so park your car wisely as residents will not allow you to park the car in front of their houses. You can street park for few hours like we did. In a small street near by where there are less lights.

This is a very small community park. The area is nice and quiet during weekdays. On weekends is very crowded due to limited parking space. There is an area for dogs to play freely; however, most of the park's walkways are restricted to dogs.

If you want to just chill and enjoy some ocean breeze, Blackie spit is a great location to do so. It's a bit crowded at times but overall, nice park. It's clean, pet friendly, sandy area for kids to play.

Blackie Spit is a wonderful beach spot. Bird sanctuary nearby with some well maintained paths to walk on, beautiful views of the water, an off-leash area where you can let the dogs run and play. Love to watch the sunset from here. Lots of little secluded waterfront spots where you can get away from the crowds of nearby Crescent Beach.

Great beach area, nice grass area for BBQ's, you can rent kayaks here as well. Parking can be a nightmare if you come late, the key is to be here before 10AM. Our family enjoys it and we visit often.

Love this place! The dog beach is a great off leash area where you can throw a ball for your dog and they'll swim. You can go for a really nice walk through the park, or enjoy the waterfront walkway. Stop by on the main street for a coffee, ice cream, or fish and chips!

Fabulous walks in a country environment, five minutes from the city. Sometimes you can spot seals or grey whales and the oddd coyote. The park is accesible for wheel chairs, bikes and saunters or runs.

We went on Christmas Day, lots of parking in the main parking lot but it was filling up quickly. Nice even walking trail, easy for strollers and wheelchairs. We walked along the pier, the spit and the walkway by the houses. It waa busy along the walkway even though it was winter, can't imagine what summer is like.

Great location to go paddleboarding and to bring your dog's as there's a fenced off /gated access to the beach/water Limited Parking. No Toilets. Nearest toilets a 10 minute walk away, so if you've got any tummy troubles, plan ahead to be hiding in the woods. Lol

Ocean floor covered in clusters of rocks covered in shells/zebra muscles and you cannot see through the water due to its merkiness. This resulted in both my husband and I cutting our feet while we swam. There is a nice grassy area to lounge on and sandy areas for kids to play near the water though which was nice.

We came to this beach because of the dog's beach. It was awesome time spent by all. Lots of dogs around swimming and running. There was no any garbage bin for the dog's waste though. We had to take it with us.

It's a beautiful beach with walking paths picnic areas lots of families lots of kids. There's a pier that you can walk on. You can wade in the water close to shore. The tidal currents are quite strong there at certain times in the day. There's also a beautiful saltwater outdoor pool for the public.

What a hidden treasure, away from the crowds! The tide went out so far, it seemed like you could walk across to highway 99!!! We went on a weekday and had no problem getting parking. Large grassy area for relaxing, sandy beach with tons of seashells and an ice-cream truck nearby with great tasting treats.

Really nice area to visit with friends! There were several picnic tables around as well as open areas, which was nice for playing games. The parking is a bit limited so you may need to drive around a few times in order to get a spot but we did find one eventually! There is a swimming area but there was a sign for swimmers itch so I wouldn’t get it in personally. But a really nice place to spend the afternoon outside of the water!

Never disappoints, just wish people would respect the area. The beach is amazing but it's tourists do not respect it. The Blackie Spit dog area is great, new seating and picnic tables, owners of dogs are very respectful and don't fall in the same category as the tourists.

Beautiful park at Crescent Beach. It is signed, and off-limits to pedestrians in some parts. Birds and waterfowl only!! No exceptions! Please stay on the designated paths. It's a resting place for migrating birds, worthy of respecting the rules, and a feast for your eyes. There is a fenced shoreside dog park, for pooches to swim, as well as a larger dog park further inland behind the car park area.

Super popular spot in the lower mainland for walking and enjoying nature. Almost always busy, so go early to get parking! Really nice place to watch the sunset. Only downside is there are no washrooms, so you'd have to walk far back down to the main strip to access any public washrooms. Also, please do not walk off of the designated path as a lot of the grassy and beachy areas of this park are nesting grounds for birds and other lovely little creatures :) A lot of people disobey the many signs!

Rain after rain, that's why Vancouver is called Raincouver in winter. It's like coming across a jewel to have a sunny day. Taking a walk along the Crescent Beach was a jewelry thing on a crisp day. Free public parking lot is available until 7:00 pm.

This place has it all; wide open parks, plenty of picnic tables, dog friendly paths, endless beaches, views of the rolling ocean, sandy beaches, gorgeous homes by the pathways, and even a quaint pier. On a sunny day or even cloudy one this is a sure thing! The only negative is the traffic on the way in and out. Took my doggo out there and she absolutely loved the wide open sand spit and shallow tide pools ….

There are much better places to go than this, I didn't find anything special visiting this place. I am a nature loving person and want to see lots of trees and flowers but this place is very flat and nothing special to offer.

Love this place because its massive and has great views and a dog park, trails, gardens, etc. Love the beach area although you share it with the dog park. Has paddleboard and kayak rentals and has tons of parking. Lots of events happen here during the summer and it is a great place to chill at the beach or have a picnic! There are a few local restaurants walking distance as well. This is our favourite beach close to home.

A fresh air paradise with a separate fenced dog beach. Dogs can go off leash and enjoy the freedom and smells of sand and tidal flats. The parking lot is large but does get full . People come and go throughout the day, so a spot tends to open up for you to park and take in the salt air.

This is a wonderful place to be able to go for long walks around bogs wetlands and just see all the natural wild untouched Countryside. You're encouraged to bring your pets and children and have a picnic for the day. If you go down to the marina there is lots of free parking. You can also see a large group of eagles. They have a doggie off-leash area and lots of nature paths to walk alone.

It's nice at Cresent Beach but no dogs allowed now so it's a nice walk from behind the sailing club and past the dog park.(you can gave your dog in there ). You can walk all around to the main street but stop in at the community gardens. I enjoy walking through there as there are some fantastic gardens, lots of veggies and flowers. Your guaranteed to see something you haven't seen before.

Blackie Spit is a great spot. Free parking, an off leash dog park, grassy picnic area with tables, as well as a sandy beach and areas to swim. Boat launch and washrooms. No lifeguards on duty, you will have to go west about 300 metres to Sullivan Point Park where there are lifeguards and a roped off swimming area if you need that. Beautiful sunsets and a view of the North Shore mountains, and a fairly sheltered bay.

Always visit Blackie Spit for walks with the family. It's very scenic tons of wildlife (geese, herrings, rabbits etc.) so it's great for kids and adults. There is an off lease fenced dog area as well, and the trail itself is good for biking/running. Once you're done you can walk over to the beach (if you start from the south entrance). Highly recommended.

I've been coming here for nature walks and to swim for years. At least 10 years. Its a great place to relax and enjoy some nature. It has a lovely area for picnics and heaeing the spunds of frogs and birds. The only real knock against it are the lack of change rooms or washroom facilities. There is 1 washroom, and a couple of shower heads, but you'll have to go home for a proper cleanup after swimming.

Went there on a super windy day, so didn't really enjoy it that much. However, I am absolutely going to visit this place again when the weather is a bit nicer. Although it was a clear & sunny day, the wind blew away the last star on this review. Great place for a day outing. There are quaint little shops and eateries nearby. Had a very much like Cape Cod'esque feel to it.

Beautiful park, but nothing there for kids. It is a 3 min walk around the spit. 45 if you do the dikes as well. If you live close, it is a no Brainer. If you have to drive 45 min, maybe don't bother.

Perfect beach trail to go for a 5K run or walk the dog. Nice children's playground and a HUGE tidal flat for kids to splash about in during low tide. Great swimming too for teens and adults, just mind the warnings about the tidal currents.

Beautiful beaches to stroll along and a large fenced off-leash area for dogs, we especially love the off leash area for our husky as there is a good mix of dogs and he can run to his heart's content! Do dress for the weather as it can be windy this close to the water. Only concern is parking as this is a very popular area and parking lots are often full.

Blackie Spit is a treasure to many! While some come for a walk along the varied landscape and others bring their pets; there are those who come to make new memories while those like myself, come to reflect. It has been over 7 years since I was in the area. I helped plant snowberry bushes. At the time it was a group of us gathered and came to the area to replant. I came for this and also to honour my late daughters memory. We had spent many times during various seasons walking the beachfront. When I planted my snowberry bushes, I also paid tribute to my daughters passion for rockhounding and planted in the dirt, selected pebbles from her cherished collection. Having relocated to the area, I went today to try and find the shrubs. I was fortunate to speak to a gentleman working in the area. He was kind and provided information that I genuinely appreciated. The sunsets here are brilliant! Great place to bring a lunch, just be mindful of your litter, so others can enjoy the grande outdoors that often can be taken for granted. There are memorial benches all throughout, well groomed paths and a place for dogs, separate from the birds :)

It's the locals beach. Beautiful along the quiet beach. It's almost as fun to look at the unique and different beachfront houses as it is to look out o er the ocean. Parking can get wacky so breathe. You'll find a spot. Just be prepared to walk.

Great flat, sea side park, looking out over Mud Bay, near the mouth of the Nicomekl River. Doesn't sound like a destination but the locals love this place with beach access, a dog beach, a great picnic park and flat, easy, walk to Crescent Beach Point. In the summer the Beach House Theatre sets up in the parking lot and presents a matinee theatre for the kids and classic theatre in the evening. Good Job City of Surrey ..... PS great view of Vancouver off in the distance.

Very quite and best place to be alone. It's a bit of a walk from the parking lot but not that you can't do. Love being there to get some fresh air and sit there and just clear mind. Best for people who do yoga or meditation.

I love coming here but it's always been off season. We came on a Sunday afternoon during the heatwave and it was so crowded. We eventually found parking, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit. Really nice calm beach as well so good for kids. Some people had their dogs on the beach which was gross but whatever, it was a heat wave.

This is a nice park.... good for dog people and walkers. Check it out. While not huge Blackie Spit offers picnic areas, beaches including a separate off leash area for dogs, sailing, kayaking and plenty of parking. Great place to see sea birds and salt water marshes. They have some really nice pathways for an enjoyable mostly flat walk. As an update Blackie Spit has become incredibly popular with parking at a premium summer, weekends and holidays. Still a great place to visit anytime.

Very nice park in the middle of the beach! There were a lot of people but there is lots of space to get out a blanket and just sit on the grass. There are lots of trees for shade. There is also a pier where people fish, go crabbing, and jump off to swim! There are long walking routes to exercise when you get tired of sitting on your picnic blanket !

Love swimming here! I’ve jumped off this pier sometimes, just waded out and swam in the ocean other times, and enjoyed the view laying on the beach. Beautiful spot! There are nice public washrooms here, often ice cream trucks, and close to lots of nice restaurants.

It's a great park for dogs lots of room to play and lots of room to swim. They also have an off-leash area for walking your dog. On a nice sunny day try to get there a little bit early because parking is limited. You're parking on a gravel parking lot. They don't have a dog washing station or a water station for dogs to drink water so bring your own.

Just a really lovely area of the lower mainland. I grew up around here so it's a pretty special place to visit whenever I can. The views are gorgeous, the wide open skies and ocean, the grasses and wildlife, a perfect place for birding (if you're into that thing). It can get pretty busy, especially in the summer, but it's still worth visiting no matter what.

We come here often as it is a nice little quiet beach, compared to many in the LML. The sailing club and kayak rentals are right there and there is a good amount of sandbar when the tide goes out. My only complaint would be that the bathrooms are so far away for the kids, but you just have to plan a bathroom stop properly with the littles.

Very easy Trail walk along the beach and through some grassy hills. There's a very nice dog park with a variety of terrain and vegetation. So not your typical fenced-in Square grass. The dogs really have a great time exploring. The parking lot gate is closed around 9 or 10 but you can bike or walk in after hours. It's a great place to play Pokemon go! Online parking is difficult to find but it is free.

This is a nice spot as the beach isn't all rock there is a big grass area to bbq on as well. I like the fact you can rent kayaks and sail boats, and there are life guards on duty which is a bonus if you have kids.

This is a neat place to take your family, pet, or significant other to explore. When the tide is out, you can search the tide pools for interesting sea creatures. A beautiful dog off leash area at the water, and an area that is monitored by life guards for the children. There is a pier to take a romantic walk down, or show your loved ones crab fishing in action. If water sports is your thing, you can rent paddle boards, kyaks and other fun water craft.

Beautiful pebble beach with shallow fairly warm water. We arrived at 8 am to an empty parking lot. Went out for a kayak lesson and returned at 12 to a packed beach, no parking and cars circling looking for a spot. So, come early! Too many people there by 12!

Off leash dog swim area is adjacent to an environmentally sensitive area, without fencing to delineate the space. Our puppy did not care about the difference do we were constantly chasing him back and forth, trying to avoid any bylaw fines. Wouldn't go again until he's older. Also, parking was CHALLENGING.

Great place for a walk and spend sometime getting a tan. The tide was out and you could see people way of in the distance. Luckily we saw some of the air show (guess it was happening in boundary bay). Lots of people but you can still find some room for yourself.

I like this dog park because my dog doesn't come home dirty & muddy. There are puddles however, so don't forget to bring a towel if your dog likes to jump in them! I like to tire my dog a bit at this dog park first so that he isn't as hyper when I take him for a walk along the many beautiful paths in Blackie Spit.

This park has free parking with ample spots and neighbourhood security checks on vehicles. It has a great view of the water westward. It has got several walking gravel trails and open grass areas for picnics plus a few trees for shade. Nice for late afternoon or early evening walks. It has a pier to enjoy

Come early to get parking and for real estate on the beach. If your looking for a swim park at the Crescent beach swim club, if you're looking for sandy beach I'd suggest parking near Sullivan and walk in. Bring a lunch, restaurants fill up fast!

There is a ton of trails here, One down fall is there are only certain trails that are pet friendly, but they do have a portion of the beach for dogs only so that was cool so all the trails we were hoping to do we couldn't. we will go back to check out the rest of the trails. it is a very clean and well maintained park.

Another great wilderness meets ocean feature for south Surrey. every time I go to Blackie Spit and see the numbers of people just relaxing and enjoying the area I am reminded of a song called, "Saturday in the Park". Eagles and Great Blue Herons are abundant. early weekend mornings are great for those contemplative walks. Go! enjoy! go back again! enjoy.

As far as dog parks go this one is medium sized. its okay if you like walking in circles. We took our dog out on the beach instead. Keep a eye on the Eagles, I've heard unsubstantiated rumours.

Lovely location but parking makes it last on our list of places to go. Summer is difficult to find parking unless you come in the morning and residents don't like you looking at them while walking along the dike. Witnessed a fight between resident and people sitting on the grass on public property having a picnic in front of their fence line. Only a couple places to eat 1 km down from the beach; too far to go in the heat with younger kids.

We always enjoy our time wandering through the trails, bird watching and beach combing. Fantastic year round with the mild coastal weather. We prefer to go on a weekday when there is fewer people around. The photo shows various spots in and around Blackie Spit. Get outside and enjoy the beauty!!

Can get quite busy on beautiful days. Great walk. Main issue is seeing all the people walking on areas specifically marked not to be on (actual wetland areas supposed to be protected). So the more people seen breaking the rules, the more other people think it's ok. Sad.

Beautiful ocean location. Very busy but very pleasant. Everyone is polite and everyone has dog etiquette. There is an off leash area which is quite a good size. An under cover area if it rains. Lots of beach access and different terrain. Benches to chill and enjoy the view. Come sit and watch all the different dogs and their owners go by. Dip your feet in the ocean or just post up and have and insta photo shoot.

Overall, catch a nice sunset, go for a swim, get good eats here! If I had any complaints, which I don't like to make is just that when I went here the other day all their garbage cans were over filled and you could smell every one as you walked along the pathway. Not the most pleasant thing in the world to see but I'm assuming it was just a busy day, it is summer after all.

It's a very good area for weekend leisure. Great place for families to do. Has a swimming pool, boat rental, yacht club and a beach. Lots to do. Barbecue friendly and picnic friendly. Great place to get away from it all.
