Really enjoyed exploring these winding paths. A mixture of forested area and paved paths by the water drainage area. Definitely recommend checking it out.

JP C

Nice trails, but you are constantly in view of houses and fresh development.

a good place to enjoy fresh air and burn some calories ... using the pavement extended from west circle end of colombia forest boulevard as the separator for north and south, north trails are harder for more challenges with steeper hills, while south trails are somehow easier, in which waterloo geotime trail is located. waterloo solor clock (sundial) can be seen on waterloo geotime trail too.

For first time walking in the West-side Trails, I would say it was an enjoyable experience. It is not crowded around 3:30 pm, but I met people walking, running and biking... Great place I recommend!

We live in Clair Hills and use these trails all the time for daily walks and trail runs. When the leaves are full, you feel like you have left the city and are immersed in total nature. You get fully re-energized after walking in this wonderful serene forest. Watch for deer, raccoons, hawks, garter snakes and lots of different bird species. Lots of wonderful wild-flowers and sometimes some very interesting moss and fungus. We take 8-9 km walks through the trails. Not a huge size, but big enough to get a good daily workout in. You can take different trails all the time to mix it up. There are many different entrances from the suburb areas surrounding the forest.

Over all... great but, on the north side there are some disturbing signs set up by a developer planning to impinge upon the forest.

Hana Sheikh

Gorgeous trail, just discovered it today. You can hear the birds chirping and it feels other worldly.

There are enough main trails, side trails and loops here for most hiking or biking outings up to several hours. There is a mix of trail types from paved and lit to pea gravel to forest floor. The forest trails tend to travel up and down numerous wood ravines. The water features are simple storm overflow ponds, and are moderately picturesque at best. The adjacent GeoTime trail system (which is essentially part of the West Side Trails) presents a series of interpretive signs about the geological history of the area. (As far as I saw, they do not point to actual terrain features.) Biking these trails will be a good workout for all but serious cyclists. The trails are not technical except for the steepness (up and down) of some sections. There are a few places where you have to carry your bike over (or even duck under) tree falls. The forest is not large enough to get lost, but with limited signage, it can be difficult to know where you are relative to city streets. If I lived next to these trails, I would ride them regularly. At 20 minutes away by bike, these are trails I only hit when I am looking for a change from other routes.

Great trail system so close to home. Only drawback is the pet owners that don't think they have to pick up after their dogs.

Beautiful trails for hiking, dog-walking, and running. We felt like we had completely left the city. There are enough trails here for at least 2 hours of hiking with very little repeated sections. The main entrance is off of Columbia Forest Blvd, but you can also enter from Laurelwood Dr.

Zack Lamers

Love this trail! It's a great set of trails to hike and explore with my dog. Some paved trails with ponds but mostly wooded area. I have seen coyotes in here so be careful if you're by yourself or with a small dog.

Very pretty loop, easy to walk with some variable terrain. Not paved. Didn't notice any trail blazes but there's occasional informative signage. Runs through a variety of landscapes from very wooded to nearby homes. Some nice views. Good parking. Will be beautiful in the warmer weather when the leaves fill in.

Another great place for walks. The trail starts with little panels describing their history and then gets very forested. There are several twists and turns that you can take so you can never really take the same route twice, but it is also an easy enough trail to navigate for you not to get lost.

Kim Mcelwaine

This was a great trail. Wide open forest. Very quiet in found. Lots of hills so if you like a terrain..good spot

A fantastic trail during a fall to winter transition. I was able to capture unique moments at frost and freezing temperatures. Trial it's self is excellent to detach and clear your mind as you enjoy natures views. With more time on my hands, I try to take every opportunity to take my little one's on a nature walk. Would definitely recommend.

Bryan Hemphill

Very well groomed trails in a lush forrest that are only steps from 3 large neighbourhoods. Probably over 10 km of trails if you connect them right. A good mix of wide loamy trails that are great for a leisurely walk with the family including strollers. Take a side trail or go a little deeper into the woods and you'll find some twisty single track with some challenging steep climbs. Great for both hikers and XC bikers alike. All of the trails are accessible year round.

Nice walking/biking/skiing trails through nicely forested sections. Lots of well shaded areas for a nice cooler walk on a hot summer day.

Susan Edge

Nice trails, too many people had dogs off leash, asked one person to pit dog on leash after it came after our dog three times but they refused, that dog came after a dog 3 more times, owner nowhere to be seen.

Carol Baker

Excellent, wide and well-groomed trails. Well marked with parkettes for those coming from outside the neighbourhood. Walking poles recommended for winter conditions, with some uphill climbs of moderate difficulty.

Dennis Baker

Amazing amount of trails with lots of hill and views of Waterloo. We'll be back.

Tim Paulson

Jason Biffis

This was a wonderfully informative walk. We enjoyed the light elevations and all of the info signs about the history of how areas like this came to be. There are areas under the trees and also open air. Very clean, well taken care of, and it just felt great.

This is a trail? Felt like I was walking through people's backyards.

Wayne Karges

Interesting place to have an easy walk in the city. Lots of hardwood trees and wide paths

Mehak Khan

Beautiful trails!! Perfect place to spend time with family or take a peaceful solo walk. A must in summer and fall for sure :)

Kevin Hare

Great place for a little nature hike.

MT. V

Beautiful series of trails in Waterloo (probably the best area for a short to medium walk/hike in Waterloo). There is also a nice "history" walk that I assume children and inquisitive minds would enjoy. I tend to stick to the entire outside loop, about a 5km walk that takes a bit over an hour. If you get creative walking through the middle there is unlimited hikes possible. Bugs can be bad at night so plan accordingly.
