The Imax has an impeccable sound and the picture quality immerses you in the movie or documentary completely. It is absolutely amazing. In real life you would never get so close to a wolf, bear or volcano. You would also not be able to walk in space or under water or get such a clear image on your own.
very good museum, had a Christmas market on weekend as well!
Watched Rogue One in 3D, was awesome
A great place to take the family on an adventure. There is so much to see and learn while visiting here.
The IMAX screen seems otherwise, and they'll advertise 3d showings even tho there's no actual 3d projection.
lots of fun for the whole family!
Had a great time there. Various sections (human anatomy and physiology, animal section, butterfly and insects, astrology, and a little bit about local environment... ) well cover visitors' different interest area. A fin whale's bone hanging from the roof is a WOW... Participated the flying squirrel show. The show was brief but the instructor made the knowledge easy to comprehend and remember. Make sure you won't miss it. Staffs are friendly and available everywhere to share their knowledge and passion.
Great learning experience!
Unfortunately have to give this place 1 Star. We just visited yesterday and spent $28 each for a very mediocre experience. The staff at the different exhibits mostly ignored us. None offered guidance or information. The butterfly exhibit was very disappointing. All the butterflies were at the top of the exhibit and only two were flying around close enough to get a look at. Not much happening anywhere else. I understand it might be off season, but to pay that much and have such a boring, uneventful experience. 3 of us attended and all agreed it wasn't nearly worth the money.
I live in Sudbury so after a while it get old but overall an amazing place to go for all ages highly recommend visiting here
A great place for kids...very educative and descriptive
INCRYOABLE!
Very fun and a lot to do and see
Amazing place for family fun!! We visited with out 5 and 3 year olds. They had a blast but so did we. The staff are awesome. For younger kids and young at heart must start with level 4. You could spend the whole day there just racing the self built dragsters. For lunch don't miss the spicy black beans and corn veg burger. Time and money well spent all in all.
Nice
Great displays.
Obviously the documentaries are great, chairs are great but the 3d glasses don't fit over prescription glasses and are super bulky/uncomfortable. Also make sure to get in before the exact time the movie starts otherwise you're walking into a pitch black room.
We don't have enough of places like this in the North. It's a great place to take the kids and get them to learn something by disguising it in fun. The IMAX is good and the planetarium is awesome. Also, they have great exhibits that change up every once and a while to keep things fresh. I would definitely consider going if you have never been.
We drove 3.5 hours to watch Wonder Woman on IMAX. It was worth it!!!
(Translated) Science museum for young and old place where we stay there all afternoon! To do with family :) (Original) Musée des sciences pour petits et grands endroit où on y reste toute l'après midi ! A faire en famille :)
Its alright the first time visiting Sudbury, but has less to offer with the same old mediocre things inside for kids.
Educational and entertaining!
Drove 4 hours and was pleased. Really liked how the setup is. The shows were great. The experiments done were great to watch. The explanation was good. The stage were this was done was well thought out. The nature area was better than I thought it would be. Live shows and lots of insects to see and maybe touch. There were lots of staff and they were very friendly. Lots of hands on things. Overall, wasn't disappointed. Would take a day if you did everything and didn't rushed. You could probably squeeze this into 5 hours of you rushed... But you wouldn't have add much fun.
Great place to hang with kiddos ????
Spent the day here to get out of the rain while on a camping vacation. At first I thought the price was a little steep (we got the play all day passes-$35 for adults and $27 for kids), but as the prices included an Imax film and the planetarium show, by the time the day was over I felt it was money well spent. We took in both a film and did the planetarium. But the best part of the day was once we got inside the main part of the building. I expected something similar to the Toronto Science Centre-rammed full of kids, and line-ups to participate in stuff. I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't the case! There was tons of interesting things to see and do-I felt that it was a cross between a science centre, a museum and a zoo! Not only were there science-based activities, there was a whole floor with animals, reptiles and insects. There were young people called "bluecoats" all around the building, who were very engaging and informative. I was so chuffed by their enthusiasm that I somehow momentarily forgot that I was terrified of spiders and held a tarantula! My 6 year-old niece loved the points program, in which science-based learning earns you points that you can use to pick items like rocks and shells to take home with you. What a great initiative for kids. My only negative about the experience was that we took a break for lunch, and the "cafeteria" looked like it hadn't been cleaned all day, the empty tables were piled with garbage and dirty. We had to wipe a table down before we could use it. But overall, a great place for kids and grown-ups alike!
Amazing day of hands-on discovery and visual inspiration. Especially great environment to play and learn for pre-teen and young teenage kids. Lot's of fun for the accompanying adults too!
Science North is a enjoyable experience for all ages in my opinion. I've went many times when I was younger and as an adult and although some things have changed, it's still a fun time. The exhibitions that come and go are one of the coolest things they have to offer and I strongly recommend checking them out.
Amazing experience, premium beaver, definitely stop by if you are in Sudbury
Awesome place to watch nature movies on massive screen!
I had an amazing experience in Grade 6 last year when we went here on an all night-er field trip!
Staff is great and the experience is out of this world!
Pretty cool place
There is so much to do here! Amazing learning:) I wish this design was adopted by the Toronto Science Centre.
What a great place for the entire family! I have never seen the museum that was so it was so interactive. There is plenty to see for kids and adults alike. Tons of interactive exhibits that are great for children. One could easily spend a whole day here reading all of the info on the walls and displays.
Was an amazing experience watching Galapagos 3d there and the price was even better. 11 bucks!
(Translated) Nice to spend a day with children and teenagers (Original) Bello per passarci una giornata con bimbi e ragazzi
The beaver is super cute
It's a great place to visit with family and friends. There's always something new to see every time we go for a visit! We take advantage of the yearly family membership which enables us to visit Science North and Dynamic Earth more often! (plus many discounts on other services such as the IMAX)
Great place to visit, as an attraction, well your staying in Sudbury Ontario. I found the staff to be helpful and very knowledgeable about the atractions. The attractions included various theatres, including the IMAX, other attractions included, the pre school area, perfect introduction for young children to learn about science. And the world around us. The entrance way to the science center was a man-made mining tunnel, with cool light effects. There are multiple levels including a bug and fossil station. If you ask the staff you can hold various creatures and try eating bugs. There is a really cool butterfly conservatory, where you see butterflys and exotic moths and bird's flying around. Next level is a natural parks area with various animals from a beaver and porcupine and bats various speicies of snakes including the notorious Mississauga rattle snake, bats, frogs, fish turtles. Level 4 and 5 are the Science and technology areas, ranging from space and flight to sound production and radio broadcasting, Science Labs, cool race track, and human sciences. Great place for children ages 1 to 125 years of age. I look forward to returning in the future.
Very recently renovated (start of 2016); the screen has been replaced (no more old stains showing up in white areas!) and the audio has been upgraded. Oh, and updated 3D technology too. Looking forward to taking in more films soon.
Best movie food and attraction in Sudbury
Bring along $6 for parking. This place is GREAT!
Piles of hands on exhibits and a beautiful building built into the local landscape. Absolutely worth the price of admission. It was busy for us, midweek, end of July.
Says"tell others what you think of this place" Me:Everything
Cool experience, something everyone should see.
Do Not Count on eating at the "food court". Out of everything but fries at 2pm. No salad, no soup no pizza, no onion rings. Kids running it blamed their 2 co-workers for calling in sick. I'm guessing those 2 saw the lack of supplies the day before and stayed home!
Most of the displays are older and have seen better days. The body works exhibit is very well exhibited with noticable damage and grime on most of the disply. What really made this a not great experience is all of the animals on display is habitats that obviously not engaging or natural, and most if not all are kept solitary. It was particularly sad to see the environment the beavers were living in. The lake display at Bass pro shop in Vaughan is easily more ethically put together, which says a lot. That all being said there is a bed of nails that was simply fantastic on my back and would love to get a similar piece of furniture for my house.
Nice theater that shows some quality documentaries and big films in imax
Great spot, my wife and I spent almost 3 hours and had a great time looking at the exhibits and doing the interactive activities. Admission is very reasonable at $18 and free parking is great! Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Sudbury.
$7 for popcorn and $13 for a 45 minute movie was a rip off.
Came here with my elderly parents for IMAX. Apparently the womens hancapp toliet is full of poop and toliet paper and does not flush. Not impressed.
There are great hands on exhibits throughout the science centre. So much fun for kids!
I liked Science North far more than the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. A lot of very interactive exhibits, nothing was out of date, and there was lots to do.
Fantastic experience. Great sized attraction, my 3.5 year old and 14 month old both loved it. They have done a great job with all of the displays and interactive activities. Very educational and fun.
Amazing. Simply amazing.
excellent place to visit filled with engaging exhibits and unique architecture. the center is located on the rocky banks of ramsey lake. i gave science north 4 stars because i believe they could do better when it comes to going paperless - especially for members.
I went when i was 14 and always wanted to go back with my kids ...we finally did ...they loved it so much. The animals...the science..the planets...the opportunity to hold bugs we would never usually hold...the activies were fun and kept the kids engaged and going all day. Thankyou for the experience.
Dissatisfied, went with boyfriend and planned trip around this cuz it said "all age fun" call bs on that. We're young adults in our late 20s and we got looked at with disgust because we had no kids, so I ask how is it all aged fun then? That's discrimination. $67 for an hour tops and disgusted looks from the workers. All except 1. The lady who took our ticket was extremely nice & didn't care about our ages, wish got her name. She was the only redeeming factor of this place.
Amazing!!! Would go again
I love watching movies here, we seen suicide squad and love it! !! We purchased the big ticket back in January, be warned though if you loose them nothing they can do about it! I was told my tickets were used up and could not be replaced, cause i thought my dad through them out by accident! They actually fell behind my fridge, so they lied to me about being able to look up the tickets and seeing that they were used up! When in fact there were 4 left! No one likes to be lied to!
I love going there with my son, glad we get a year pass because it's well worth it! My son is all over the place so we miss stuff every time :) They also seem to add and change things more lately. I'd even argue he loves going there more than the park. I'd love to test one day how long he would stay there if I didn't tell him it was time to leave. Wife would have to stay home tho :)
We've been members for years and my kids still love it!
Excellent interactive science center with something for the whole family.
One of the must places to visit in Sudbury. If you are a fan of movies, love science and wanna gain knowledge on various topics such as human anatomy, parallel and serial connection, magnetism etc. than try to make the most of your trip by spending time from 10am - 4pm (Start to End). In the cafeteria try the fries but stay away from the Nachos! There is a beautiful lake (see attached pictures) near the cafeteria and hence try to spend time there! Enjoy your visit and hope that my review helps.
I love how the building was built into the landscape. Lots of different animals and all of the information provided was concise but well laid out. Great place for younger kids, not so much for older ones. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more chemistry and physics based exhibits but all in all I had a great visit. Also there were numerous bathrooms on each floor.
A good place to stop and find out more about nature and the science that goes on around the bay area. Everthing from geology to weather and the impact on animals in the area grate shows ,and a wonderful Imax theater to boot.
Nice place to spend the day learning
Science North. What to say about this amazing museum? Everything there is interactive. The kids go crazy. Staff is awesome and attentive to the kids. Arrive early to spend the whole day there.
Great place to take the kids, big or small!
Big screen
Great for kids and Teens
Great exhibits and friendly staff. Loved all the bugs and the chemistry bit was kind of fun too.
Love this place in the winter months. Get a membership! It's worth it so you can come in here just for a quick visit to the butterflies or to go look at the animals, let the children unwind, stretch legs, take a look at the art work on the walls (changes often). No need to force yourself to get most of out one visit when you can come all year long. And then there is Nightlife on the Rocks..that Rocks! Too bad it is closed most of the days after school.
Perfect place to bring grandchildren.
Very fun and educational. Every time we go to Sudbury, the kids insist on visiting Science North. A lot of interactive exhibits and many insects and animals to visit. Want to hold a Tarentula? You can here! The theatre hosts a number of scientific shows that are great for the whole family.
Loved this place as a kid. Really want to go to a night on the rocks event.
Everything was great...my two boys loved it (Especially the build your own car and race it, Part)...every floor had great stuff and we all had a lot of fun!!!...very beautiful(I personally liked the butterfly aviary room).
During my first visit about three or four years ago, I was ecstatic. There was so much to see and do being a first time visitor. I recently returned to find not much has changed. The Wildfires firefighting 3D adventure was still playing. A lot of the exhibits were the same. There was no major exhibit (i.e. Ice Age) like when I went the last time. Such a great place can go a long way with a bit of change. I still enjoy seeing the butterflies, animals and bugs. The 3D movies I haven't saw were pretty interesting as well. The popcorn was good and food in cafeteria is better than most cafeterias.
This place is for kids. If you are an adult, it may not be fun especially if you know a great deal about Science. I would give 5 stars to the staff. They are super friendly. I am guessing when they open up the IMAX and Planetarium again, it would be more fun. Right now, not so much. The theatre sections are closed. We missed out on the immersive shows.
Took my 3 sons once. I am use to the Ontario Science Center
Been my favorite place since I was 5! The people are always so nice there and all of the animals and exhibits you can look at and play with is amazing. Since I was 8 I would always love going down the stone tunnel with the two pictures, always my favourite part. I just wish they never removed the "wishing well" with all the coins, but I overall love science north!!
Great place for both adults and kids alike.
Our families favorite Science center!
Great spot for the kids to experiment and learn neat stuff
Your family will like it
Fun and educational. They don't stay open very late on school days, so it's pretty much for schools only for the week. Other than that, it's pretty fun, entertaining and enjoyable. Don't forget to check out the object theaters!
Great museum! Kept my boyfriend and I busy for a while! Learned lots :)
Advanced poll voting. Lots of parking, very accessible
There is a lot to do here as a family, and it is generally not overly busy.
It's a awesome place to go for a family trip or for something to do. It is also a great place for children to learn about things but it's fun and active.
Meeting with the ministry of labor, everyone was friendly.
We were here with my family in Christmas Eve just for the lights display. It was nice walk especially when you have kids. There wasn’t anything spectacular but one thing caught my eye, the Christmas trees lighting behind the Sun time was off. I thought someone must have just kicked the wooden cover for the wires on the ground as it was obvious that it wasn’t where it was supposed to but it wasn’t just that. I tried resetting the outlet since it was GFCI, I know I’m not supposed to do this but I thought that it’s not going to hurt anything if I did so I did. First try, the lights came back on but one tree was still off. It was not plugged, so I plugged it in and immediately tripped the outlet I just reseted. That’s when I realized that there was too much load for that outlet same time as the security, the supervisor, showed up telling me he received a call(someone called the security on me), I explained everything to him and even let me reset the thing once again but to no avail, then he made a call. I’m hoping it was for a maintenance and hopefully everything be fixed sooner. Also, the giant Christmas tree was not lit.
Wonderful spot, great interactive exhibits, good for adults and kids, well worth a visit
Kids had a blast. A lot of interactive things for them to do. They got to hold a lot of creatures and watch a few of the shows.
Remember going as a kid and having a blast!
Super interesting! Enjoyable for the children but also for the adults.
So many activities that the kids can experience, it's over whelming and pleasant experiencing them as an adult.
Great for every age! Had a fun family day trip here.
The only IMAX screen in the north. Good documentary films, but could use more new releases. Nothing compares to seeing a blockbuster film on the REALLY big screen.
not the best its kinda boring
This place was amazing. There is so much to do there and learn. I love that there is a lot of hands on activities at this science centre. I would totally recommend it.
It was a good informative experience. They had a Guinness book of world record showcase. The whole experience was hands on. We tried to break the record ourself. There was good competition amount the visitors of the day. It was for kids as well as adults. You can easily spend 40 mins in this exhibit. The second part of this museum is the animals exhibition there. There was a live lab and many animals and facts about them. Kids will enjoy this more. There was a science lab relating more to physics. There is also a broadwalk and park close by. You can go there from the parking. You can spend the evening there in front of the river.
We went here with our three young kids. They all enjoyed it tremendously. Lots of stuff was accessible for their age category (4-6). The butterfly area, the rock tunnel, the manipulatives on the fourth floor were all favorites. Unfortunately, covid-19 public health restrictions meant the planitarim was closed.
Love this place
Always something new to learn.
I learned some stuff. And that's great.
Plenty of hands on activities for kids! Very cool exhibits for adults.
Great learning experience for the kids. To catch all the shows, expect to spend a good part of the day
I really like the Imax. The screen is huge, sound is crisp, it's not crazy busy, the seats are comfortable, and there is lots of room. The washrooms are very clean and environmentally friendly. The only drawback is if it is busy and you get a seat close to the screen and off to the side. It can be a bit difficult to see everything when it is like that. I usually go here to watch the big hits again after they leave the major theater.
Offers a wide variety of learning topics for kids and adults with a lot of hands on fun.
I had such a fun time! Because I'm not a kid j wasn't sure if it would be worth my time to go but it was amazing. I got to see multiple beavers up close, a porcupine, a flying squirrel demonstration! They had a cool flight sim where you land a plane in current weather at the Sudbury airport. I spoke with some of the staff who were knowledgable and kind. The fact that the building was built into the rock is very cool. It has great views of the lake.
Good option to see a movie especially if you're a member
Better than the National Science and tech museum in Ottawa.
Cool place for kids...
Had a great time
Loved walking on cliff on building grounds .
They say it is for all ages. But it is NOT! Don't go here if you do not have kids in your group, it is pretty lame for adults looking for a tourist attraction! The Planetarium and IMAX were closed because of the Wuhan Virus; without that the remaining exhibits were not much exciting at all. For comparison purposes - the Museum of Science in Boston would rank 95+ out of 100, whereas this one is about 25/100.
Best screen in town!!
It was fun even during covid. There have been a few things they had to close down do to covid, but overall my favorite things are still open. Overall a very nice place.
Great place it is the best scince center we have been to
Coolest attraction in the North. Never gets old, always a pleasure to visit even after living in Sudbury for 27 years.
Great for the kids
Wow! This is an amazing centre!! Well thought out for all ages. Well worth the day we spent there. The temporary body exhibit is fascinating. The kids were able to hold several creatures in the Insect room. The 3D movie, "Super Power Dogs" was fabulous! It was about several different types of rescue dogs. Thankfully they allowed us to overnight park our truck and trailer there so it made for super easy access in the morning.
Saw Pandas. Was fantastic a d good for all ages.
The massive screen and amazing clarity are worth any visit.
Beautiful place. Perfect family spot .
LOVE. First week of July, hardly anyone there, it was great!
Such a cool visit. The diversity of activities and items to see is worth it. The prices e is pretty high though it would have been nice if it were a little cheaper
There is something for everyone. Whatever you like about science you will most likely find it here.
Always great ever since i was a kid
Awesome theater. Really enjoyed watching Avengers. The IMAX 3D was intense. Annoyingly, a cleaner interrupted our experience while I was enjoying the end credits to try to shoo us out of the film.
My husband and I went thinking we'd spend an hour and then leave...ended up spending 3! The blue coats are knowledge and very willing to pass information on...the bugs are too cool. We couldn't pass up an opportunity to watch the wildfire show in 4K...a definite to-do....we'll worth going!
Always loved going here as a kid
Lots of very cool interactive exhibits. A great place for young kids and adults alike.
meal was overpriced for what i got but whatever, the views were nice though. great staff, really good girls good at their job
(Translated) Nice view ! (Original) Belle vue !
What a horribly laid out building.
Great place to spend with the kids, and be a kid yourself. Lots of hands on stuff to do and see.
Great place to visit. Lots to learn and so much to do! The body works exhibit was amazing, see it before it goes!
Even as an adult, you learn so much. This is one of my favourite places to go when I'm in Sudbury. I remember my first trip to Sudbury to see a family friend and she took us here. The experience is always amazing and the staff are amazing as well. Each time I go, it's always something new and I really like that.
Almost 90% of the activity are interactive. My kids loves it. Might go back this summer.
Amazing sound and decent leg room. But it's all about that new laser screen. It's fantastic and huge!
Fun and educational for kids of all ages there are things for 4 year olds and like me eleven year olds I go there even on my spare time they have a fun flight simulator also try to go on weekends or after school hours as a student every school will go there its a great form of education and fun
My son loved there, especially the animal section. We'll go back again.
Festival of lights has started, always fun to go with the family! Bring your own hot chocolate during these crazy times!
The Lion King was great.
i've been to that place since i was a little kid and i always had a good time there :)
Too expensive for the quality of items being sold. Less Science North exclusive items being sold in the gift shop. Nothing is really happening until after 12:00. So anyone coming in the morning just wander about and look at stuff, you can see everything in about an hour. The real fun stuff, like polishing rocks, isn't until much later in the afternoon. Almost everything seems to be for small children and on in the later afternoon. I was really very disappointed and even upset. I had my hopes high because I was never disappointed before. I'm likely never going to go again. Or the very least, in a long time. Science North has really gone down hill.
Good food and good service. Must trycthe rubbin
Nice facility, great seating and sightlines. Not many people when we were there. Hope they can stay in business!
This is an amazing place to bring kids
(Translated) You can have a great time with various experiences. (Original) 다양한 경험으로 즐거운 시간을 보낼 수 있습니다.
Great place to bring the children to learn about all sorts from a-z. Awesome hands on demonstrations. Definitely a place to visit when your in Sudbury. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. Would highly recommend.
I love this place. It’s one of the nice places here in Sudbury. We got the yearly passes last year And the kids love it. They enjoy the forth floor with all the invention and technology and like to play mine craft of the computers. The third floor is also fun with some precious animals including a beaver and a skank. Second floor has bugs and scorpions, bats and butterflies. Some of them you can hold and take a photo. You also get to taste some fried bugs if you hose to. The cafeteria doesn’t have too many options but we like the fries and onion rings. I would recommend it.
Wasn't expecting much. I should have been because this place is amazing. Worth the drive up to Sudbury
I love science North it's make some science really fun for all ages. whatever your kids likes to do theirs it's probably here
Easily as good or better than Toronto's Science Center and less crowded at least today.
It's more for adults... And more over the fun labs(i.e, biolab) has the timing for hands on so you miss it if you don't register your name.
So much to see and do. Knowledgeable staff. The kids loved it.
Our family visited Science North on Saturday July 19, 2014. We had a fantastic time. The place was not crowded which for us was a bonus. We saw an IMAX movie on the arctic. The 4D movie on FIRE. We spent a lot of time in the butterfly conservatory. My daughter held several bugs from the "bug" section. We watched the porcupine climb the tree in his cage. We saw a science show. My daugther tried out the bed of nails and the gyro twirling thing. We played all day on all floors. Enjoyed the experience immensely. The only weird thing that happened was I think a rookie booked us in. First we had coupons so the kids were free. But she charged us for the kids. Then she booked us in a play all day pass but we would have to pay $9.00 extra for the kids to see the other attractions. We should have just got general admission. I still think we overpaid. So watch what you pay for when you enter.
There every Sunday...rehearsals enlightening...scenery gorgeous...restaurant delicious. We are so fortunate. Best of all? Staff is wonderful!!!
Great experience!
Cost: not cheap (2adults and 5year old just for museum cost about $88-90). Facility: clean Food: not so good Staff: “blue coats” are really enthusiastic, attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Just awesome! Overall: we (2adults and 5year old) spend about 3hrs. We were tired but didn’t finish all. Need at least 2-3 more hours to complete everything. This facility is very good at making every aspect of science education fun for kids. My 5year old enjoyed there so much. If weekend, recommend going early in a day so you can touch animals and learn from blue-coat people without congestion. Have fun!
Our family loves going to Science North! The exhibits are engaging and the staff and volunteers are very friendly. We have a 10 year old and 6 year old and they both love the exhibits and workshops. We live a couple of hours away, but we still purchased the Family Membership because of the value. A fun educational way to spend the day with the family!
Great 3d movie experience. My kids were amazed at the jungle wildlife coming right off the screen.
Awesome place to bring the family !!! Kids loved it!
Very clean and quiet
Amazing finding! We are in a road trip so this is a gem. All the spectrum of science, 100 %hands on, fun for the whole family. Best ever and I have been in many, and in different countries. Go to the upper level and make your way down so you get the best of it. Worth every penny.
Fun and informative great hands on exibits
Awesome
Expensive, was around 60 for me and a kid. But so much fun, it worth it
Amazing
(Translated) Bin services and welcome (Original) Bin services et bon accueil
Big screen.. theater is clean .. theater was not over crowded.
The grounds were really beautiful to explore. The theatre was really nice. I was at an event, it was a little disorganized but overall I can't wait to go back and explore the museum
It was pro, dawg.
Nice day for a visit and good times with the grand kids at science north
We saw the gremlins then walked around the Christmas light display
Our 5 year old's favourite place! And yes, we think it's great too ???? Excellent eclipse party today, the best place to experience it, free telescope viewing and those with eclipse glasses passing around to those without.
I drove for 8 hours from St . Thomas though the smell of horse poo, diesel and other things, for this.... a awesome museum with scenic views of the lake! 4 floors of Awesome entertainment for kids and adults! Offers food, I think daycare, after school activities, cool gift shop, beautiful nature soroundings and beautiful view of the lake great for taking pictures and so much more! It was hard for me to leave, 100/10, totally recommend for solo or family vacation.
Staff had amazing knowledge on their particular branches of science. The building is laid out accessibly and nicely, and the exhibits were very hands on, fun and in depth. We will return.
IMAX is still great, even though it's aged a bit in comparison to some of the newer technology at Silver City. I personally asked for Hidden Universe to be brought to this theatre when it came out in 2013 and the staff said their committee was passing on it. I can't pretend to understand the vagaries of ticket sales at an IMAX attached to a science attraction, but not bringing in Hidden Universe always left a stale taste in my mouth with regards to this particular IMAX. Edit: this theatre has recently seen a massive improvement in projection technology and once again at the top of its game. Saw Malick's Voyage of Time with new projector and it was amazing.
So much fun! I hadn't been here since I was a kid, very interesting and the beaver was the star of the show!
Great staff. Great place to spend the day with your family
I bring my daughter to science north for homeschooling we both love it.
Fantastic for kids
Love this place, huge screen small theater.
Iv gone here alot. Haven't been there in about 5 years but I hear it's still great. Cant wait till it's open again. It's a great place to take the kids for there birthday. Also see the nickel mines. It's cool tour.
For general IMAX shows, it's great. There's always good seats and viewing angles, and the chairs are comfortable. If you're going to see a regular film with no IMAX extras, it's far more expensive than other theatres. The tradeoff is the quiet and less people.
I have been going here on and off since I was 5 or 6 years old I am now 27. I still love going here the atmosphere is very cool and educational. I would like them to consider removing the animal attractions how ever. I know it is educational but in this day and age it is sad to see animals essentially caged in small spaces. These exibits could be replaced with something else. I do love it when they have a New Exibit on the main floor. I have been to probably a dozen or so of those in my life time.

I often with my kids and we are always learning something new. There is a little area for infant and toddlers. There is a floor for insect, butterflies and fossils. On the third floor there is all sort of wildlife. The fourth floor has information about the human anatomy, space, technology. And on the main floor they have special exhibits. The building also holds an imax and an escape room. In the summertime there is boat rides the tour lake Ramsay. There is endless activity to part take in. Parking is free for members. I highly recommend becoming a member.
Great place for children of ages
Wish we had more time here such a nice museum. You can touch and see bugs. 2hours was not enough.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Went on a summer Monday. There’s fun for all ages! Got to see Body Worlds...AMAZING! Even had an excellent lunch at the cafeteria. We spent at least 5 hours at the museum. I highly encourage all to visit!!
(Translated) It is a very good IMAX screen, excellent visual effects and the sound is pretty good. (Original) Es una muy buena pantalla IMAX, excelentes efectos visuales y el sonido está bastante bien.
Amazing place for family. Our kids loved the hands on learning and all the interactive things to do. The staff were really great too! Might not be an every year thing but certainly worth every penny.
Great place for the whole family! We loved the IMAX movie!
I went with my whole family and it was fun for everyone! Lots of fun exhibits and activities. We especially loved the Lapidary Lab. The worker who led the activity, Doug, was amazing. He was kind, patient, and very helpful! I highly recommend this lab, so make sure you reserve a spot when you come.
Very nice place
A great day of fun
A must visit.
One of the best science museums! I mean, where else are you encouraged to play with EVERYTHING in the museum? Fun for the whole fam
Arrived right when they opened and was greeted in the parking lot by a lady that gave my family free admission passes. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff . My kids were entertained by pretty much everything in the facility. You can plan on spending a day here to see everything this place has to offer. The only down side to Science North is that it is located in Sudbury.
A young man employed there named Simon made the experience horrible. He was rude and annoying and wrecked the experience for our kids. They should also post that the actual building is closed during Covid and really it’s just a few tables in parking lot.
Incredible experience, very interactive exhibits and a wonderful staff make this a must visit when in Sudbury, worth making the trip for.
Definitely a great place to take the family really cool stuff there
Amazing we had a blast
I went to see the bodyworks exhibit (which was AMAZING!!). The actual centre itself has a nice array of different exhibits and would be a great place to take kids.
Be coming here my whole life Science North is fantastic!
This is a very interesting location. They offer a lot of hand on demonstrations. I vividly remember laying on the bed of nails as well as the gyroscope-like device. They cover lots of different subjects.
Ok
Nice place for all age
Great experience will definitely return friendly and knowledgeable staff
An excellent place to learn and experiment on different areas of science.
Such a fun place to visit for anyone who loves science or just wants to spend a day somewhere. There are areas that are great for children and also places to visit for adults.
Amazing museum and wonderful to explore! So many things going on here I could easily see going back to spend more time in each area. Staff in blue coats are amazing with kids and keep the place interesting!
Love it and love the science part as well great place to be able to chat with new people staff are very helpful and friendly
Great time! Kids has so much fun, lots of learning and hands on play! And the market was open so the local vendors were out and it was awesome!
First time visiting, what an incredible experience! So impressed!!!
Great day trip
I didn't like people not wearing a mask that's not fair and me and my husband wear mask to go everywhere we go
A superb institution where children get trained in several facets of education with the gadgets made available to them. This is a very good effort to educate the children and helps promote their future in the rilght direction. First I thought it had to be just an exhibition and when I entered the passage and then into the hall my thoughts had to be changed. Actually I went there with my grandchildren and was glad that I decided to visit the place with the future citizens.
Great place to take the kids and it's still entertaining as an adult. I enjoyed it just as much as the children did. The staff are very knowledgeable and explain some of the habits that the animals have. You can definitely spend an entire day and some. They have a lot of interactive games that will keep you busy for hours.
Everything is buy tickets online and all sold out
Saw a movie. Seating is good, but a little uncomfortable. Also the 3D glasses don't fit very well over regular glasses. Staff was friendly, except one particular person who lied to some people to get them out of the theatre more quickly. Not impressed.
Good place for childrens. Lot of interactive games and fun activities for kids and adults. Each floor has its own theme for instance, butterfly, beaver, etc. The display of whole complete whale skeleton is breath taking.
Always love dropping into this place when we drive to Sudbury.. The live animals is great to see. The enthusiasm of the staff to help and interact with you is a great thing to see in young adults these days.. will visit time and time again
Excellent environment for the kids to learn. Staff were wonderful with kids and offer many different interesting programs. Facility is filled with interactive games makes learning fun for any age.
i'd give them 10 stars if i could!!! amazing time spent there! staff very friendly and willing to spend some time explaining things, especially the electricity guy (sorry i dont know his name) thought me a few very useful things thank you will more than likely end up going there again
First time....no disclaimer on ad....movie was not formatted for Imax theater!$
Went to the farmers market. Loved the set up and it had some tables inside as well as outside, so as not to over crowd.
This place is very impressive. I came here with a tour group so I had no idea what I was in for. This place is pretty similar to the Ontario science center. There are 4 levels to the building. I would recommend you start from the top level and work your way down. On the 4th level you will find a ton of science related things. You'll get to learn about the human body, space, physics, etc. There are a lot of hands on things to play with on every level. On the 3rd, you will have the chance to look at lots of love animals. There are beavers, turtles, snakes, frogs, skunk, and some other hands on things again. On the 2nd, you will get to learn about insects. At the entrance you will be able to find staff holding bugs and offering you to touch them. There is also a warm house where they let butterflies fly around. You get to see the flying towards you. Just make sure to not let them loose by accident upon entering and exiting. On the 1st floor there is a playground for kids. Not sure how to review it since I don't have kids yet. There is also a lot of shows throughout the day that you get to sit in and watch. Overall, I think it is a must see regardless of your age group. It's definitely a good place for kids to revisit.
Love, love Science North, enjoyed our many trips there more than our many trips to Science Centre. Blue Coats are great, Canada Day celebrations were always great. Dinosaur exhibit was really great years back, feeding Rosie the skunk Madagascar hissing cockroaches way too cool. Brought some of our own food & bought some. Back when we went your entry to Dynamic Earth was included in the full cost & yes you need a full day to see everything we even went down into the Mines so much fun. Would recommend anyone who's in the area to visit.
(Translated) Nice experience. (Original) Belle expérience.
Very interesting place to visit. Was here while driving through Sudbury during our Ontario road trip. Could have spent many hours more. Nice spot, especially for our kids .
Great place to spend the afternoon learning :)
Great spot to burn a day with the family
Interesting
Lots if fun stuff and friendly staff.
Both fun and interesting for everyone! Very interactive exhibits and friendly staff. Free for teachers as well.
So Clean and Organized And Beautiful
Nice place but wish there was more material orientated towards the older crowd. Not just kids like science museums. Was very short walking through
went there tons as a kid, great and very educational
Great experience for the whole family.
Large screen, good seating, and not too busy. Pricing at concession isn't too bad either in comparison to most theatres.
Was depressed that this place is so poorly managed. We paid for a 4d video then they decided to host a wedding reception and they didn't let us in or refund our money and there where nine of us so it was expensive. WON'T BE GOING BACK!!! PERIOD.
Me and my family love this place love the walk never gets boring
Great fun place to spend the day. Lots of fun things to see and do. We were very sad that they had some animals there. The beaver only had a small display indoors and looked very bored, and the porcupin's space was not much bigger than 10x10. Very sad that they felt the need to have these animals in such a small area. They should get rid of the animals as they are not a zoo but a science center. They would be better off at a sanctuary that can give more enrichment. That is the only reason for the 1 stars. Please make a comment when you visit to help their cause!
Saw star wars it was amsome
I have been a member for several years and made donations. Yes, as people stated that there tend to be the usual attractions but they are changing over the years and have bought special exhibits to the facility. They do have special events that are interesting as well.
If you haven’t had the chance to check out all the Christmas Lights put up all over the property then do it soon. Thank you Science North for always making Christmas look great!
I was disappointed.....for the price u pay we did the get to hold or touch anything....didn't see porcupine and not to see
Wouldn't eat at the restaurant again, but that's not why we went there. Great place, lots to see and do
If there's one attraction that makes Sudbury special, this is it. It is the epitome of what a science center should be, and it's almost a surprise that not every town tries to get one. I have seen a few science centers (Toronto, Montreal, and Cleveland), and not only is this one comparable in size (I think only Toronto is a bit bigger), it is be best is quality. Location: Science North is on picturesque Lake Ramsey, built into a cliff that runs into the water. There is a well-maintained boardwalk that goes from SN, along the bottom of this "cliff", and runs to Bell Park and the beach. There is a sailing club nearby, a hospital across the street, a pretty boardwalk through wetland across the other street (Lily Creek), and the University and nice trails are nearby. Overall, a very good location. Architecture: Science North is composed of two aluminum buildings that are hard to describe the appearance of, but which look like snowflakes from above. There isn't really anything like them anywhere, and even after all these years they look quite good. It's experimental architecture done right. They are connected via a underground passage through Sudbury hardrock. On the main one, there is also a giant glassed off area over-looking the lake, with circular ramps connecting the floors. In the space between the ramps, they have suspended the complete skeleton of an entire blue whale. At the bottom of the ramps is the exposed bedrock with a fault, showing a feature of Sudbury geology, and proving how the science center is really "in harmony with the land". I took this all for granted when I was a kid (it's fun running up the ramps!), but when I look back, it is truly inspired architecture for a science center. Exhibits: There are informational exhibits, there is an IMAX screen, and a 3D movie theater (located in a cool underground cavern, with ponds). But more importantly, there are a lot of great interactive exhibits. They are divided into 3 floors - one for geology, one for nature, and one for the human body (with a bunch of other stuff mixed in between). Here are a few notable examples of things there are on these floors. There is a big aluminum tub-like device where kids can play with sand and running water to learn about erosion and water systems. There is an area where you can play with Kinects and make vehicles that drive around a track. They have a bed of nails, a butterfly exhibit, multiple mini-theatres, and a nature exchange. The nature exchange is great - you collect things from the wild, explain them to the person at the desk, and you get points which you can trade for the cool items they have in stock (I once got a meteorite with my accumulated points). There are also science shows, where they do things with flying squirrels, dry ice, and all sorts of other stuff. They also have tons of animals from the local ecosystem - squirrels, beavers, snakes, etc. Community: Science North is open to the public, but sometimes it does a lot of special events for the community. In addition to hosting tons of school trips and daycare trips, they do science camps (I got to program Lego robots in one of them!), and they host events. I was part of an Envirothon event hosted at science north, where you get to learn about wetlands, trees, conservation etc. While participating in this, I realized that Science North also plays a big role in the broader Sudbury Scientific community - they have some very nice conference rooms, and though I don't know if they do actual research at Science North, they did have some cool specialized conservation equipment that their staff members were able to show to us. I don't know how much the science center costs the town, but I don't care - I'm sure it was worth it. The place was great for me growing up, and I think it did a lot for me. The fact that it is so accessible, and never overcrowded is a plus. SN iss something that Sudburians can be really proud of, because I don't think any town has something that is quite the same. The only thing Science North needs is for more Sudburians to visit it!
We have a membership and love visiting with the kids. Unfortunately, the restaurant has gotten very expensive, and they aren't very good at getting your order correct. It also takes a very long time to get your food, and ours wasn't cooked thoroughly and needed to be returned.
Excellent educational stop. Many hands-on displays. Several small theatres explaining various scientific discoveries. Plan to devote an entire day!
Always learning...

one of the best places o visit in sudbury
Great place for the family
Great experiences here.
very great staff and fun for all ages
Science North is awesome! We loved it. If you go you must sign up to polish some rocks.
(Translated) I'm sorry over there. Forgot to remember. (Original) 抱歉在那。忘記記了。
Nice place
Felt like a kid again; a clean bright gem of enlightenment and curiosity... in Sudbury, of all places!
Fun
Hands on stuff for younger children! If your there at the right time you can pet a snake or a skunk! Interesting demonstrations. Much smaller than Ontario Science Centre but is more interesting for kids.
An excellent place for the entire family. Young child are very much entertained and educated while teenagers should find enough to do while there. The IMAX theatre is an option for anyone in the family or group that doesn't want to spend as much time in the centre and the food is quite good at the cafeteria. Many animals to observe and interact with, and the staff are really helpful and engaging. Definitely a place to go if you are in the area or driving through.
Big screen, big entertainment. Comfy seating
Very nice
Bring natural items to trade in at the nature exchange!!!!
Weird screen
(Translated) 4 stars just because it's anlitle bit expensive. I was there with my partner, and my two children 2 and 4 years old = $ 87, but everyone really appreciated it. (Original) 4 stars just because it's anlitle bit expensive. J'étais là avec ma conjointe, et mes deux enfants 2 et 4 ans =87$, mais tout le monde a vraiment apprécié.
The special effects on the huge screen made for an excellent experience. The seating was spacious with plenty of leg room. Overall, an excellent choice for the right movie.
Very inneractive with lots to do and see. Our 10 year old grand son loved it as did our grown son. Very entertaining and educational. Soo much fun they did not know they were learning.
We need to invest more into this place, that's the only way to inspire education over mindless technology.
Getting old. Good movie
Excellent science center - all ages can attend and learn something. I have been going here for more than 20 years and there is always something new to see. Friendly staff and great events.
Very busy place on a rainy summer day! Friendly front desk.
My daughter absolutely loved it here.
We love this place!
Loved it. Went with my 20 and 22 year old and we all enjoyed it.
Just wanted to give you a big thank you for all your help and kindness. We forgot my grandsons jackets in the coatroom and we live 4 hours south. When I phoned the next morning to see if they were there the girl took the info and descriptions in a very very helpful and polite manner and called me back within 5 minutes. They had found them and now my grandaughter who attends Laurentian University will pick them up. I am so grateful for your help and kindness. We had a great experience and bought a yearly pass will definately be back every time we come to visit our grandaughter. Thank you once again. Evelyn
Has always been one of my favorite places since I was a kid and still is enjoyable to go
Great place! Wished we had more time!
Very informative. So many 'hands on' opportunities and great for kids of all ages!
Very informative and friendly. Clean! Positive influence! ????
we love ramsey lake sudbury.
Fantastic place to visit! Thank you to Kristen for being so educating and kind during our visit. There's plenty to see and do, lots of workshops to attend and a fun nature exchange, so be sure to bring some things from nature with you!
This science center caters more so to children and teenagers; its great for a family day trip. There's enough exhibits to keep you busy for about 3 hours. Its slightly too expensive for adult admission. Worth a visit if going with kids, otherwise I found it rather boring for myself.
Visited the center Aug 1st 2020 with 4 yr old grandson. We enjoyed all the interactive areas. The people who work there were very informative and friendly, answering questions we didn't even ask. Only complaint is the items available in gift shop mentioning Sudbury were nil.
Fun!
Wonderful watching movies in the IMAX
Very nice...wish we could of explored the facility
Amazing
Very informed and friendly staff, exciting even for adults. This is an institution which should be strongly supported by the community.
They did a great job of sanitizing all the touch exhibits. Lots of arrows and social distancing stickers. Many bluecoats on hand to ask questions. Totally felt safe with COVID times. Well done Science North.
This great place to bring children. My son loved the beaver, porcupine and snake. The food was reasonably priced and my son loved the gift store.
Nice experience. However. Wish there was smaller glasses for Toddlers. My grandson was not watching because glasses did not fit him.
Great place to visit and learn . Social distancing is being observed, so no worries.
Excellent Science Centre! Great info, a few animals, presentations/exhibits/interactive exhibits.
It's a crazy place indeed!
We love it
I wil be pleased to take my internship program in this great place
Very interesting place. Has everything you would expect from a science centre but 5 times better. Very good for kids 5-12
We hosted our wedding reception at the RAMSEY ROOM this past weekend and it was AMAZING. The room was gorgeous with the lake-view and set-up. The staff were incredibly helpful - shout out to Leigh who had us come in ahead of time to do a mock-up of the room layout and helped on our wedding day. I am so excited to see the photos taken throughout the science center - Leigh was super helpful taking us to the most popular photo-spots. I would HIGHLY recommend renting the Ramsey Room at Science North for any event with less than 100 people; it was such a great spot and the staff was super helpful. I look forward to working with Science North again for any future events
A great experience overall. Great exhibits on all the floors aswell as presentations. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Also have the option to take your Imax presentation layer in the evening to maximise your time in the science center.
Absolutely amazing!
A must see place to visit. So many exhibits for everyone. A great venue for events as well.
Lots of intersting things to see and do. Had fun.
Science North Sudbury Rocks! We had a great time.
