The docus-simulations of the program Découverte are 1000 times better. Sensory stimulation is best used in other exhibitions. It can't be done again ... stuffed animals are pretty average basic, but the organization, the darkness of the place does not improve anything. The eagle that should be visible because of the lightning ... it doesn't work! Animal heads upside down on the ceiling: it's questionable. The haphazard organization of the elements makes the visit difficult and often inaccessible because people stand in front of them trying to read the information in very small print. We went there on a free Sunday (except for “Terra Mutanes” which costs $ 5 for the first person + $ 3 per person for subsequent ones), but despite everything it would have been better to do something else. Ça ne se refait pas...les animaux empaillés c'est de base assez moyen, mais l'organisation, la noirceur du lieu n'améliorent rien. L'aigle qui devrait être visible à cause des éclairs... ça ne marche pas! Les têtes d'animaux à l'envers au plafond: c'est questionnable. L'organisation hasardeuse des éléments rend la visite difficile et souvent inaccessible parce que les gens se place devant pour tenter de lire les informations en tout petits caractères. Nous y sommes allés lors d'un dimanche gratuit (sauf pour «Terra Mutanes» qui coûte 5$ pour la première personne + 3$ par personnes pour les subséquentes), mais malgré tout s'aurait été mieux de faire autre chose.

I decided to not give this place a 3 star because it is well kept and the displays are well setup. The appearance is overall nice, with a very modernized interior design for a museum. This is a very small museum btw. There isn't much in terms of "displays." It seems that half of the Museum is for authorized personal only. They should use more of that space to expand the museum and introduce new displays. I also find that the entrance fee is a little expensive for what it has to offer, compared to other museums. But considering that many museums are given government aid to continue functioning one cannot complain about it. The parking is located beside the building and is free. It's a good place to go too for an hour. The museum consists of a few local artifacts, taxidermy animals, an educational area for children, an earthquake platform that holds up to 4 people, an eating area, gift shop, and a few other odds and ends.

Les expositions sont assez ternes, petites, incomplètes, non diversifiées, très peu enrichissantes...et le matériel interactif ne fonctionne pas souvent (lumières qui ne s'allument pas dans l'exposition d'animaux empaillés; matériel d'enregistrement inutilisable à l'exposition Rock'n Roll...) La simulation du tremblement de terre est risible... la fausse tornade aussi... et je n'ai pas compris l'utilité de la table faussement interactive du film "Terra Mutanes" qui, en plus de ne pas être réellement interactive, donne une qualité d'images plus qu'ordinaire (pour ce qui est du film, il manque de contenu et de termes exacts et ne capte pas vraiment l'intérêt ni des jeunes ni des vieux)! Bref, c'est bien de viser un public jeunesse, mais ce serait bien de ne pas oublier les adultes qui ont aussi un intérêt pour la nature et la science... et de veiller à ce que les équipements fonctionnent, vu le peu à entretenir! Une expérience qui ne donne pas envie de récidiver!

2021 December 4.5★ A small museum with 2 full levels of exhibits, the other levels are considerably smaller. Free parking is available on the side. While this museum is small, it's displays are beautiful. Absolutely stunning pieces of well arranged art. Wonderfully elegantly placed and put together with pride. Currently on the main floor, you'll find historic pieces from different regions. Historic pieces that tell stories of the past with focus on nature. Some pieces in the collection are absolutely intriguing. On the same floor, there's an interactive 4D experience showcase telling the history of Sherbrooke. Kids loved it as they get to be immersed in the process. On the upper floor, there's a display called Alter@nima, wildlife taxidermy is displayed and arranged beautifully. Look at the pictures yourself and see! Better yet, if you're in the area, stop by. It'll only take about 2 hours of you take time to admire the settings and attend the interactive program. In the basement, it's a small display for kids, a tornado machine, earth quake machine and 2 rooms for play. One is a colors based area, the other... I'm not so sure of. This floor was a bit underwhelming. There's an area for sitting. Maybe a classroom style display. While the actual displays are limited as there's limited space here, i thought it was like artwork with what they had. Would come by if you haven't been. I think it would be good for visitors.

(Translated) I'm disapointed. Since the last time I went (over 10 years) nothing has changed. The permanent exhibition and the multimedia "interactive" show have not changed at all. It has aged and evolved badly, especially technologically. The application proposed for only informative support is outdated and not at all intuitive (even for someone who is very familiar with technology) so we gave up the idea of listening to information on animals. There was no rotation in the animals presented nor a single change made. Personally I do not find that the animals are highlighted. It is very dark and sometimes the glass prevents us from seeing well with the backlighting. The giant sloth exhibit was a little sad: a few small information panels on fabric banners in a large empty room. The exhibition on "Indians" was already more interesting and relevant, but I think you missed a great opportunity to present current artists from native communities to make them known. For a science museum, you have to innovate more if you want to be a reference in the field. I would have liked to be surprised but it was not. It's a shame because there would be so much potential and it's the kind of museum I love, but this one has become outdated and I'm disappointed for you. Hats off on the other hand for the welcome and the staff that we feel passionate about but that is not reflected in the exhibitions ... (Original) Je suis déçue. Depuis la dernière fois que j'y suis allée (plus de 10 ans) rien n'a changé. L'exposition permanente et le spectacle "interactif" multimédia n'ont pas changé du tout. Ça a mal vieilli et évolué, surtout au plan technologique. L'application proposée pour seul accompagnement informatif est désuète et pas du tout intuitive (même pour quelqu'un qui maîtrise très bien la technologie) alors on a abandonné l'idée d'écouter les informations sur les animaux. Il n'y a pas eu de rotation dans les animaux présentés ni un seul changement apporté. Personnellement je ne trouve pas que les animaux sont mis en valeur. C'est très sombre et parfois la vitre nous empêche de bien voir avec l'eclairage en contre jour. L'exposition sur le paresseux géant était un peu triste: quelques petits panneaux informatifs sur des bannières de tissu dans une grande pièce vide. L'exposition sur les "indiens" était déjà plus intéressante et pertinente, mais je trouve que vous avez manqué une belle occasion de présenter des artistes actuels issus de communautés autochtones pour les faire connaître. Pour un musée de science il faut innover davantage si vous voulez être une référence dans le domaine. J'aurais aimé être surprise mais ce n'était pas le cas. C'est dommage parce qu'il y aurait tellement de potentiel et c'est le genre de musée que j'adore, mais celui ci est devenu dépassé et je suis déçue pour vous. Chapeau par contre pour l'accueil et le personnel qu'on sent passionné mais ça ne se reflète pas dans les expositions...

Small lack, difficult parking on site because the entrance and exit is the same and is just wide enough for a car and it is very sloping. Dangerous to go out for pedestrians. When we went there the exit was difficult. I have very good winter tires and I couldn't climb the narrow slope. I had to go to the lower landing of the parking lot that belongs to seniors' residences (so entering and leaving the parking lot shared with them) to give me momentum to get up the hill. A little insecure and bam we get cut off by another car coming out. We had to catch up. In short, otherwise the rest of our experience was very interesting. (Original) Nous avons adoré notre expérience. L'accueil est efficace et invitante! Le personnel est connaisseur et passionné! Petit manque, stationnement difficile sur place car l'entrée et la sortie est la même et est juste assez large pour une auto et elle est très en pente. Dangereux d'y sortir pour les piétons. Quand nous y sommes allés la sortie fut difficile. J'ai de très bon pneus d'hiver et je n'arrivais pas à monté la pente étroite. Il a fallu que j'aille sur le le palier plus bas du stationnement qui appartient à des résidences de personnes âgées (donc entrée et sortie de stationnement partagée avec eux) pour me donner un élan pour arriver à monter la côte. Un peu insécurisant et bam on se fait couper le chemin par une autre auto qui sortait. Il a fallu se reprendre. Bref, sinon le reste de notre expérience fut très intéressante.
