Great trail for hiking. Views by the lake is amazing, especially to watch the sun rise in the morning. Not lot of people know about this trail so it's very quiet and peaceful. Trail itself has a very high elevation changes. So going back up can be very challenging.

Good place to go for a view

A good place for hiking and cycling with beautiful lake views

The Ravine path provides access to the lake and many kilometers of hiking and biking along the shore. It's nicer than walking down the Bluffer's Park road, which has no shoulder and too much car traffic

One of the best urban walks in the city. Some steep climbs and descents but not too challenging. Hike through the woods, go down to the beach. Great views if the lake and bluffs

Parking was a problem, had to park roadside and far from entrance. The trail was beautiful following a creek. Seen few cherry blossom and blue bells patch.

Nice Lakeshore hidden beach, water is clean, cannot wait summer to come , dip in for a swim

Amazing place

Couldn't have found this place if it weren't for my friend. What a beautiful place!! Calm, and quiet place with clean water away from Bluffs and not crowded at all. A good place for hikes, biking, spending time with friends. Not much of a beach, there is only a small area with beach sand, rest is rocky. The view from all the sides is beautiful.

A nice long walk down to a secluded rocky beach, with surreal pastel views out onto Lake Ontario.

Great little trail for an escape from the city.

steep descent to passage

Great place to walk. Be prepared to sweat.

cool place

Always worth the hike.

The view is breathtaking and the surroundings is very quiet

Awesome

Nice area great place to go for a walk or a bike ride. Beautiful scenery, great view of the lake.

A semi-hidden gem of a park offering a wooded walk down to the "Scarborough Coast" below the Bluffs. Gives onto a path that stretches east along Lake Ontario for kilometres

An awesome trail.

great place for walk and beautiful beach, careful who r cycling coz its a gravel road and lot of sharp stones.

Awesome for hiking

Wonderful walk down to the lake. Loads of wildlife for such a small park

Peaceful place!

Good views and can get to Scarborough bluffs beach

Great view...

Outstanding area, beautiful and scenic. Winding down the hills from Doris McCarthy Trail then you arrive at Gates Gully and all the large stones placed around to stop and sit, relax. This is one of the best most interesting and beautiful areas to visit in Scarborough. You'll enjoy every inch of the trail and all sides of the gorge. Then after leaving Gates Gully you'll start to see the blue sky over Lake Ontario and it is so amazing to see and capture.

Beautiful place to bring the kids with nice walking trail.

Spectacular scenery

My favourite trail to take my dog on. It's quiet, and an escape from the city with beautiful clear water. It is a rocky shoreline, so uneven. The trail down to the water is steep. These pictures are from a walk during spring.

Outstanding easy walk with some gorgeous views

First and last time. City has clearly dumped rocks and stones along shoreline to avoid erosion, however the rocks and stones chosen are clearly put here instead of the dump. There's old bricks, pipes and more. Quite sad

Peace.

Amazing view of the passage and the lake.

Awesome gravel trail for bikes.

Beautiful little trail that takes you from the Doris McCarthy Trail down to the "Passages" art installation and a view of the Bluffs along the lake. Nice place to watch the sunrise.

Nice place to walk or bike. Goes to a nice garden

Lovely walkabout????????

This is my favorite trail and lakefront that I go to three times a week, sometimes more.it doesn't get that busy because it's a treasure tucked away, and I like it that way. My only drawback is irresponsible dog owners who let their dog off the leash to run free and disturb people who are not dog friendly.

Was introduced to the Doris McCarthy trail by a lovely friend and it broke open a whole new world for me. Recent path repavement and improvements will hopefully increase accessibility so that more may experience the natural wonders we have in Scarborough!

If you want an intense bike ride or hike up a hill, this is the place. It's 90m of elevation over 1km distance. What a great climb on the bike! This is a great place to train!

Love it. Better than the actual bluffs.

I cant believe this is only a 30 minute hike from my home. It took a pandemic for me to go for a hike so close to home. Very humbling to realize this beauty was so close. Great incline/decline. Lush greenery. Beauty scenery. And it takes you to the soothing sound of waves crashing into rocks and shore. Swing by if you get the chance, i'm the guy with long silver hair and likely smiling. Enjoy-

Good... if you want a workout... long steep inclines

Nice view of the sea and the bluffs

Beautiful ride along the waterfront trail. Totally worth a try, highly recommend a trail bike as some of the Surface are gravel it can get a road bike in to some tricky situations.

Come here if you wanna feel alive ♥

A beautiful trail for nature lovers. Very peaceful and relaxing

Nice nature trail along the Scarborough Bluffs. Great for walking or hanging out by the water. There are some hazards along the edges of the cliffs to watch out for.

Amazing views. Good uphill hike

Just found this spot a few days ago and it wasn't very crowded on a Sunday afternoon

Perfect place to spend an evening ????

Amazing path that leads to passage and nice river view. Walking back from the trail can be exhausting. Wear proper shoes

Very nice but full of mosquitoes that made our journey ruined!

Tranquil hiking trail in Scarborough

Loved it..great walking trail walking along side the beach. This is located east of the bluffs on Ravine and Kingston rd (landmark pioneer gas station). There is a STEEP downhill walk along a dirt path to the bottom. Once there you can walk left or right along the dirt path. These are a few pictures from my walk taking the Left trail path.. Also I took my dogs and saw several other off leashed dogs.

(Translated) Wonderful place! Available for strollers ???? Calm, relaxing, relaxing❤️???????? (Original) Прекрасно място! Достъпно е за бебешки колички ???? Спокойно, релаксиращо, отпускащо❤️????????

Nice hike from Galloway Rd parking lot. Had a good visit with a dear friend and enjoyed the serenity.

Nice trail. Steep cliffs. Beautiful views of Lake Ontario and the bluffs. The trek back up is about 116m so you should feel the burn!

real big hill, hell of a bike up it

Sunday, 21 June 2020, Father's Day, the day after Solstice, the wild rose bushes that line the Doris McCarthy Trail are in bloom, if you take a slow walk you can take in the sights and scents of the abundant flowers, with the sounds of plenty of bees buzzing around and the stream running in the background. There are still a few rose hips hanging around which you could gather and try sowing. At the lake you can go right/west to go towards Scarborough Bluffs Park (inaccessible unless you swim) or left/east towards Guild Park and Gardens, about 5 kms one way. While walking along the lake you can spot holes in the cliffs where birds nest. This is my favourite walk down to the shore of Lake Ontario. Original: Visit Gates Gully using the Doris McCarthy Trail while there's strong winds blowing off the Lake Ontario and when you get to the water you will be treated to a spectacular sight and sound show of waves crashing into the shore. Very ocean like. Even better as the sun is closer to setting. Probably the only trail that literally goes down to the lake in Torornto. It's crushed limestone over dirt and easily walked but riding back up on a bicycle would be challenging. Visited October 5, 2019 around 4:15 PM.

Amazing

One of the hidden gem close to my.home...great place to spent my evenings and swim . I enjoy bonfire time with my friends here, not usually a busy place so it's good that we can have our own private time with friends. Calm and quite most of the time with splendid viewpoints. Couple of trails close by for biking and walking around. Good place to go for couples, mostly I see people are quite here and the place is squeaky clean.

Excellent trail. Very steep going down and coming back up but at the bottom the views are worth it.

If you're trying to get to the base of the bluffs, this is a way to get there on foot. But the trail is in bad condition due to stormwater flows and erosion. Tread carefully. Would not recommend going this route unless you're well balanced and have appropriate footwear.

Love running here.

I visited an artists residence here called fools paradise. It is beautiful, and when doors open is on, it is worth a visit. Don't get too close to the edge as the ground there is unstable.

Really nice place, a bit of a hiking trek to get down but it's a really beautiful place. Very relaxing and not too many people were there.

This is a nice walk. The gnats were a little annoying when we went there in March.

Interesting little nature break at the end of South Scarborough.

Wonderful walk - 1.5 hours in the snow but well worth it. Not many people go here at all. Beat water scenery in Toronto.

Nice trail for a refreshing walk.

Love the walk down to the shore and along the lake.

Nice little spot away from the busy Scarborough bluffs, great for a walk! Water is soo much cleaner than bluffs or woodbine beach. But, not much sand at all if you're looking for a "beach-like" setting. It's mostly rocks and pebbles along the shore.

Serene and beautiful

My favourite place to hike

Awesome views of the Lake and Bluffs. Can be easy or challening hike. There is a long steep incline gravel path down into.. Which can be tiring coming back up. Must experiences this local natural beauty.

Great lakeside view !

The North-South section of the Dorithy McCarthy Trail is officially closed but I went ahead anyways and it was well worth it! The creek that runs along it has been reengineered and reinforced in a very aesthetically pleasant way.

Lot of mosquitoes

This is another nice little Park so I must be controlled by the city of Toronto awesome work City of Toronto people just be careful and sort of out in the woods you're in the City by Journey in the country just be careful there is wild life out there I've seen it foxes coyotes so make sure you keep your dog on a leash big or small make sure you clean up after your pets

(Translated) Be prepared for a good walk. (Original) Esteja preparado para uma boa caminhada.

Nice nature walk in a city

Great outdoor experience with few visitors. Spectacular view of the lake. Access to the beach. Highly recommended all year around.

The walk downhill to the water is wonderful. The sound of the stream as you head down towards the water is zenful. Great place to take your pets for a walk. The beach is all big stones, no sand though. Just an FYI

It's very nice place to visit in summer if you really like walking because to reach there there is a trail of almost 1.5 - 2.0km which go down when you go towards beach and you feels like running over there because its steep. Best for pre wedding photoshoots because of it's view.

Super nice lakeshore! Great place for exercising! But be careful about the mosquitoes

Quiet respite tucked away from city bustle. Forever "under construction"

Great place to burn your calories ! Just give it a try.

Scenic

A really big hill but nice walk

A hidden gem in Scarborough!

Awesome place.

Step out of the city

If you like hiking through a forested area there is nothing better!

The climb up from the lake to the road on a bike is one of the hardest km’s around. This is a great spot for a hike, bike, walk or run. A hidden gem.

Quiet natural area with gurgling creek, birds and wild flowers. The walk down and up is about 1 kilometre. Going down the incline is visible and deceptively gradual. It is steep, with glimpse of Lake Ontario. It leads to the shore where you can see across the water with the full height of the Scarborough Bluffs just behind you. An interesting sculpture has been placed there. I could not see any paths along the lake so you need to go back up the same path. The walk up is more daunting - probably took double the time with a few stops to catch my breath.

Good place

Great hike, nice views to the lake and the bluffs

Love this place. View is worth with a 15 minutes of trek.

Amazing waterfront trail.

Perfect place for a hike

Sweet little trail, excellent alternative to the always busy Bluffs.

Closed for season 2014

Too many flyers.

Doug miller is amazing very honest and knows all about books his store is very clean

Felt like outside of city. Peaceful

Beautiful trail and enjoyable for the whole family. So many things to stop and see for the kids, a good cardio activity indeed. I suffer from chronic sciatic nerve pain due to a bulging disc and I was able to manage the trail, even with its steepness.

Nice silent place to visit with kids

biking up this makes a man out of you

Recommended - but would be a problem if it gets too many people

Lovely view.

Nice gem in Scarborough. Great little hiking trail close to Kingston Road.

Nice

A hidden gem

New home

Loved it

It's a very relaxing nature walk, and you get a great workout from the hills, my legs are thanking me now. ???? ???? But yeah it's so nice walking along the beach side.

Love this gradually winding path down to the bottom of the bluffs and lake Ontario. Nice scenery and not many people. If feeling like a longer walk you can follow the path to Guildwood Village.

Scenic!

Beautiful Trail,Perfect Lake view, clean water and not crowded

A beautiful hike down from Doris McCarthy trail brings us down to gates gully and beautiful vistas along the lake. ~1km Hike back up from Lake to parking is not easy.

A nice place to go for a stroll, it gives a lovely view of Lake Ontario.

Nice and quiet spot.

Good

No trash can!

I didn't realize just how steep the path is. First time at the gully and I wasn't sure about getting back up so I turned around before getting to the water.

Secluded walk down a fairly steep ravine to the lake. Can walk east or west along the shore. Great views of the bluffs and a piece of public art worth seeing!

Amazing views great place to go for a walk

It's a secret!

Nice hike to the water...

Nice trail next to water that leads to bluffs

12 min walk from entrance of trail to paradise.

Breath taking view and a good place to hike

Great trail walk along the water , this trail walk takes about 2 hours long

Beautiful peaceful place for a long walk

(Translated) After seeing the sculpture, you can play along the lake in east and west directions (Original) 看了雕塑后,沿着湖边东西向都可以游玩

Downhill to the water but it's a decent hike back up. Beautiful trail, beautiful views.

Just a beautiful location, hardly any people there, nice walk and scenic. You can look up at the Bluffs and see the erosion, walk by the lake and breathe.
