I had my wedding at Crossmount last weekend. The location is absolutely stunning and we received a lot of compliments on the ceremony. Overall the day was a success, but I was I was left with a bad taste in my mouth in dealing with the event staff. When booking this location you sign a contract which includes the rental, staff and gratuity being charged upfront. In our detail meeting we were told several things that day of didn't come to fruition.
We were switched morning of from a raffle ticket purchase to a cash bar only, causing many guests having to use the ATM on site and pay fees. I was told this was because they didn't have a staff member to sit selling tickets...however it was my understanding that we paid for one to be there.
The event staff raved to us about the quality of the food, but the sirloin was only served rare and was cold. Many of our guests asked for more cooked pieces, but were told there was none.
We were told two ciders would be available for the guests, however only one was provided by the bar
My only real request was that non-alcoholic beer be available for my non-drinker guests. When my guests asked for it at the bar they were told "there might be some warm ones around somewhere" "there isn't any". Crossmount claims it was purchased, so I don't why this wasn't communicated to the bartenders.
Finally, we accidentally left a pen on the guest book table at the end of the night and were charged for damage to tablecloths because the pen exploded in the washer. Make sure you grab everything off the tables because the staff just scoops them up and throws them in the laundry.
All these concerns were expressed to the Event Manager, but everything is paid up front so I felt my concerns were brushed off.
I attended a wedding at the Barn at Wind's Edge in July (which I would say is their main competition) and they had a raffle seller with a tap machine, which makes much more sense in a pandemic, cashless society. Also they provided everything for the cake and cut it, while Crossmount no longer provides anything for the cake service.
Overall these are small things and our day was beautiful, but I felt for the price we paid and the gratuity charged I was a little disappointed.
My suggestions are: read your contract carefully, confirm your small details with the event coordinator the morning of and make sure you pick up all your items at the end of the night!
