One of my fondest memories of l'Île d'Orléans! We've been visiting this observation tower since I was a little girl! The view at the top is worth every flight of stairs! Amazing view, questionable safety. This tower is a great place to view the northeastern tip of l'Ile d'Orléans, but be cautious of large bus tours. We arrived at this location and climbed to the top of the tower just before a huge group of Korean tourists came up after us. You could literally feel the tower shake more and more at the top as the number of people increased. There should definitely be a limit to how many people can be on the tower at any given time and controlled by a staff member at all times.

Great tower, I'm not an architect by trade, however I can tell you that it's probably not going anywhere, not soon anyway. Looks like they used the Canadian equivalent of structural engineering to provide adequate rigidity to the outside supports, and sufficient supports on the states. 10/10 recommend.

The location of this observation tower is very well. It is only 4 story high but the view that you get from there is amazing. At the top they have giving brief outline of the history of the Island Orleans and how farming started in the island. There is a small path (loop) 1.6km to the right which takes you through the woods to the confectionery, the cheese kiosk, the chocolate factory and the church. If you want to extend your walk, continue on the road to the west, not far there is the road that leads to the wharf and the waterfront where you can walk as much as you want (watch the tide so as not to get caught there). BE CAREFUL at the edge of the water / forest, there is a lot of poison ivy in places. Also on the part of the trail on the side of the road (on the way back) where there are history posters. If you're going around the island it's well worth the stop to get to the observation tower. We got there pretty early in the day and were the only ones up there, and the views were stunning. It made me wish there were a couple more of these around the island.
