REVIEWS OF Dalewood Conservation Area IN Saint Thomas

Ran the trails and will continue to do so. It can get a little overgrown at times in the more remote parts of the trail. Some bridges were in need of repairs, but staff were very fast to respond when I reached out on social media and repairs were done the next day. Put on the big spray in the summer. Bring a camera.

(Translated) Unfortunately I would give the Dalewood Conservation Area full points, but unfortunately the storm and the subsequent storm thwarted the bill. Due to the poor condition of the area, the campsite was closed early. The staff apologized several times for the inconvenience and booked us the full amount back.

There should be a time slot set up for Adult only swimming in the pool. I found it hard to actually swim with [wo[le throwing their kids in the pool or jumping in and out themselves.

Looking for a place to go for a hike? Or maybe you just want to lie around in nature and have a picnic? This place is worth the trip. The trail is about 6km or so and is through the woods so some rough terrain. Beautiful views of the water and woods. Lots of wildlife. Birds, especially Heron. Deer. Chipmunks. Red squirrels. Bring binoculars. Not wheelchair friendly. Not walker friendly. Wear sturdy footwear that you don't mind getting dirty. Take water. There are several benches along the hike so you can sit and take in the view. I've walked it spring, summer, and fall and never had issues with mosquitos or blackflies. Parking can be an issue however during high season. About a dozen spots or so near the bridge. You can enter near the campground and rent a kayak for an hour or more. You can easily spend an afternoon here getting some R&R or exercise, or both! ????????????????

We came here for the second time and like the first time were disappointed. The swimming pool was under staffed again. You would think it being a long weekend they would put more than one lifeguard on duty so that people wouldn't have to wait 1/2 hour for a 15-minute swim. First time we came we had the same problem. The staff walk around looking grumpy not friendly at all. If you don't like your job find another one. Thankfully the family we were with were fun to hang out otherwise I would have packed my stuff and gone somewhere else less mediocre to hang out.

Great campground with yearly, seasonal & overnight camp sites openly spread out around the lake, which has a trail around its edges where as you walk youre treated to the songs of various birds & the odd chipmunk that tend to follow you if aware of treats on hand. The lake itself have many beautiful lookouts & the lake is lovely under sunny, cloudy or wet skies.

Great outdoor area for hiking, not so much for biking.

Best place for a weekend outing!!!!

Love the pool and the playground to keep the kids busy. There are also basketball nets and horseshoe playing area. Horseshoes, basketballs and other equipment and board games can, according to a sign, be borrowed for a $1 deposit. Ice cream freezer and candy at the gatehouse. Love having water hookup right at our site. Much quieter than the provincial park where we normally stay due to the large amount of seasonal sites with most owners not here all the time. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. Close enough drive to Port Stanley for a day trip to the beach. We live just 5 minutes away but still feel like I'm gone on vacation. Will definitely return!

Lynda Reynolds

Trails were rutted from Mt bikes and almost impossible to walk on. There was so much garbage in the woods and floating in the water. Not very well maintained.

I was excited to be at an event held there. I hope my Children’s generation continues to value what their volunteering means for others. Selfless acts do not need to be seen to be done.

Very nice beautiful, waterside trail. Only downside is that there is no trail map on site. Nice place to take your dogs.

Stayed for Labour day weekend. - long 8o foot sites - lots of seasonals - New power with good flow - 50 psi water pressure - #146 & #147 are the perfect spots if you want to face a friend without the utiliy pole in the middle - no sewer - ratty picnic benches - hard grass surface - little bit of road noise for our site - constant park patrol - do not recommend swimming in reservoir. Water crafts yes - lots of dogs and gulf carts - propane bangers firing in nearby field. Bit annoying - $9.00 for fire wood - good dump site with new hose - gated entry - nothing really to do here so bring friends

Lovely place to go for a walk amongst nature on the many paths available. There's places to fish, camp, hike, explore. There's a lot of wildlife that live here along with various native species of plants from trees, perennials and water vegetation. Lots of room to relax, explore or do some outdoor recreation. Worth checking out with the whole family

Well maintained trail, a range of difficulty levels. It is a lot of clay and if it has rained recently it can be extremely slippery. Trail is well marked and a great workout for everyone.

Is this all year around

Jane Marsh

Good trail for hiking but it is quite narrow. Be sure to have good shoes and bug spray in the warmer weather as the mosquitoes can be abundant.

K W

Nice quiet park. Not much to do but relax. Summer staff were the best group of kids we've had since we started camping there 7 years ago. Hope they all come back.

Bil Segui

Nice conservation area and trailer park. Practicing social distancing.

Barrie Davenport

Went there with my wife to see her parents and they were going to charge me $10 for me to bring our truck in even for a visit so I parked on the side of the road and walked in for free.

Shell Carr

Seems to cater mostly to trailers. However, we found a quiet spot away from that near the reservoir. We had plenty of drive by traffic however as everyone seemed to own golf carts. Not much to do there but St. Thomas was a 1 km away so that was ok.

Tom Li

Nice hiking trails here!

First time camping at this conservation area. Overall not a bad site but the pool is poorly managed, Long weekend you know its booked and lack of lifeguards and they made everyone stand outside the fence in the sweltering heat even if the pool wasn't at capacity. They would do half hour rotations make everyone get out of the pool and re line up. I understand when it's full it let's everyone have a chance to have a swim but makes ZERO sense to have people standing outside waiting when there are only 10 people in the pool. The lifeguards are very rude about it as well. Last day on the Monday I felt so bad for a couple dads and their kids they got kicked out because they had done 3 half hour rotations, again I would get it if there were tons of people waiting but because everyone was packing up there wasn't many in the pool so who cares how long they stay. I have camped in a lot of campgrounds and I have never seen such a foolish rule.

Great time to spend with family and friends, not only you will have a great time, you will also see animals going around! The place is looked after 24/7. It also has a small reservoir that is great for going around in a small kayak or canoe. Overall great experience.

we had a horrible time. we were watched consistently by the park rangers, we felt like yogi. we were harassed 4 out of the 6 days we were there. told we drove too fast in park, although golf carts were going faster then us. told to keep dogs on leash which they were, but the park police werent too concerned about the permanent campers cats strolling through out site, wouldnt you think the cats should be on a leash? our site was all dirt, no grass, we asked if they could fill in the holes, as it was awful, they said the previous campers complained about the site too, wouldnt you think you would fix it or offer us a different site?? they did rack some dirt on it, but when it rained (which they couldnt control) our site was all mud, great time! not. we seriously considered getting a permanent site here, but after this week of being watched all the time, i think not, and will never go back, and will never recommend to anyone. i asked if they could discount our site, but nope they couldnt do that either. worst 340.00 we have ever spent. think twice before you go . i wish i could rate a negative star but alas it wont let me post that.

Amazing campground and very accommodating staff! We arrived to the park before a very heavy rain was forecast and the staff had no issue moving some reservations around to put us on a site that would be much better suited for our camping equipment (Class A motorhome) so that we wouldn't sink into the ground and get stuck. Thank you, Dalewood staff!
