You may have noticed that it has an average rating is really good, and it's founded on a large number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is very faithful. If people have bothered to evaluate when they are pleased with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put tatings when these are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of Museum.
Good smaller museum with lots of local history ranging from ship building to mastodons and whales. Friendly and helpful staff.
Plan an all day visit, so many great historical displays for Saint John and all industries in New Brunswick. The history of life in New Brunswick years ago is perfectly depicted and described. There is even a great activity centre for children.
A excellent museum that covers history, sciences, arts and culture, and humanities. Well worth the visit.
Boring. The only redeeming factor is the children's play area on the top floor. There's a huge puppet show area with many different animal puppets that the children love. Toys Galore and a mini library with seating.
So many interesting exhibits! Staff are very patient and kind.
Great museum for a small city. An opportunity to know more about the history and culture of Saint John .
Nice curation of local industry including shipping building and whales. Other exhibits include early plant life in the region starting millions of years ago, and art and crafts. Inexpensive. Worth a visit!
staff was friendly. lots to see. had two small children (between 4 & 7) with us and they had a lot of fun. probably spent around 3 hours there.
Great place for kids. Lots of exhibits focusing on different parts of the maritimes. They have several skeletons and an art floor. They don't have any real specialty and just tend to do whatever. Considering it's only a small province I'm not really surprised
Had to rush through the museum in 30 minutes, but I enjoyed what I saw.
I love The new Brunswick Museum time has a way of passing too fast when you are there, I love everything especially things from very long ago ,it's just too much to mention ,come see for yourself Heather Allen It gets a5+star review from me love it oxo
My daughters daycare went and were kicked out after 30 minutes. They paid their admission and they were behaving. Pretty disgusted.
Lots of nice local items and friendly staff, they even had a room upstairs to help entertain the kids.
It's fun but don't expect to spend more than hour there unless you really spend a lot of time in each exhibit.
For a small city museum it's really good. I thought it'd be like a natural history museum but really it's a bit of everything. There's local history, local biology, a gallery of amazing art, and some really excellent geology exhibits too. If you're fascinated by birds or whales you'll really like their second floor. There's an elevator and stairs, it was easy to get around for us, though it was not busy when we went. Not a bad way to spend a couple hours downtown.
A small museum that has some interesting exhibits on the traditional industries of New Brunswick: forestry and ship building. Also has a section on nature, where we were given a guided tour of the whales in the Bay of Fundy. Nice way to spend an hour or two.
Place to have new things to start with kids especially It’s great start to learn Keep updates the place The admission fees is fairly acceptable
Can't wait until the 3rd floor is finished. However, just because much is covered over with tarp of the 1st floor and the 3rd floor is closed for renovations, doesn't mean you shouldn't go. My brother and I had a great hour here all the same. The staff member was very nice and informed us before we paid about all the renovations. Also, the price was reduced from $8/adult to $6, so that was nice. Still a lot to see, in a very picturesque area, and thoughtful displays.
Loads of fun for the kids. Adults will love the exhibits as well. Lots of history. Located in beautiful Market Square. Underground parking.
Good, but I wanted more local history. The bird collection is cool.
It was cute and a nice little place to visit. Nothing super fancy. Thought I'd read they had a few dinosaur fossils however I didnt see them. The kids play area could be upgraded a little bit :)
Very quaint and informative. It was a nice little stop on our road trip!
We took a day trip to St John and love museum to give you info on the place you are in. This was a beautiful museum. Staff was lovely, the exhibits where well put together and very informative. They change them and we wil be back to see the others. It is right downtown in a nice little mall you can walk about and what f you go outside you see the harbour and cam walk though the downtown core. Great place.
Wasn't super impressed with our visit .. not much interactive stuff for children.. the top floor was closed not sure if that is due to covid or not.
Just Very good museum. I can recommend to visit it.
Although many people are aware that Saint John, New Brunswick, is Canada’s oldest incorporated city, few are aware that it houses Canada’s oldest continuing museum. The New Brunswick Museum was officially incorporated as the “Provincial Museum” in 1929 and received its current name in 1930. Its history, however, can be traced back another 87 years to 1842, when Gesner’s Museum of Natural History opened to the public in Saint John.
Must visit just for the hall of great whales. Kids loved it. They also have a big play are for kids so you can rest and let them run around.
Very interesting museum. The section about how they used to manufacture ships is amazing. Also they have a very huge collection of whale bones
We spent close to a full day here as part of our vacation we spent 3 months touring the lovely Country of Canada! What a wonderful time we had in this very immense Museum that cover so many areas of interest from the birth of our plant and evolution of minerals to trilobites and dinosaurs to whales and whaling. From timbering to the building of wooden ships. From the history of handwriting to beautiful paintings and works by local and Canadian artists as well as artifacts of historical importance. From plants and stuffed birds and animals to what else but Canada’s favorite sport of hockey! There are three floors to view items, with clean public restrooms. Child and disability friendly. If in the area you should plan at least a half day’s experience. And don’t forget the nearby Loyalists House to tour as well.
Great place to spend a few hours with kids (any age). There are different types of things for viewing (china, paintings, animals, fossils, geology and history related exhibits). Check out their website, there are some days when you can visit for free. ;-)
Great place to come and see a great deal of local history and art. Make sure you have several hours to take it all in.
I visited the New Brunswick museum earlier this month and although I ddin't have a great deal of time to explore the museum what I did see was fascinating. I particuarly liked the Whale exhibit and thought that the fact that there were various items that you could touch and feel was really good and think that this is a big selling point for parents with young children who naturally want to interact with the exhibit. The geology exhibit was also good and like I say I only wish i'd had more time to explore the whole museum.
We visit here a couple of times a year. I really like the museum however they have so many other items they could put on display of only they had a bigger space.
Very nice museum. With beautiful exposition
Very static Museum with interesting features. Adults will like it more than children. More reading is needed than interactivity.
Great maritime museum. I wish I had more photos of the inside. Nice place for kids and adults. Enjoy!
Got a free visit at 4:30pm. Small in size. Good to kills time.
Nice little museum. Very interesting and well maintained.
Excellent way to spend a few hours. My toddler loved the Discovery Area
All the interactive exhibits were turned off. And no time clock punch cards!
I was expecting more but it was decent. They gave me half off because a lot of exhibits were closed and there were signs everywhere saying sections were closed due to building issues and the province and landlord were working on them. Layout is a little confusing, but there are some cool exhibits on ship building and whales. Come prepared to read because most information is printed on 8.5x11 paper with 12pt font.
Love the local flair - the riverboats, shipbuilding and sunken ships. It's sad to see the building I'm disrepair with fewer exhibits than were available in previous visits.
The New Brunswick Musiem is beautiful and such a great place to bring the whole family and has a lot of research and time put into their facility. This has to be on of the most beautiful places in Brunswick square. I was only in there one time. I believe that it is 10 dollars to enter and they may have family specials but I'm not sure. All I can say is wow! This place with all their collection of history and monuments; I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to get a great day and see things that you may never get to see. It's a great place to bring the whole family and kids as well as a nice relaxing daytime outing to bring a significant other. Very beautiful musiem...
A little boring on the first floor with a lot to be desired in terms of presentation but overall a good, educational environment.
A lot of information and well laid out. The staff on hand are very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions. It's very reasonably priced too (although the gift shop was less so)
Very good museum highlighting the history of New Brunswick.
If you're interested in the history of NB, this is a must visit! Great exhibit on the Golden age of ship building, and don't miss the hall of whales!
By a small city's standard, the New Brunswick Museum is about average, but it has some highlights that make it worth a stop, including a small art gallery, and a display of whales that will leave kids with wonder in their eyes. Their gift shop is also surprisingly great.
Interesting. Some artifacts. A lot of diaramas. Lots to read. Some fun and interactive items for the kids
Enough activities over several floors to distract the kids for a bit.
I used to love this place, but it's a shame to watch it fall into disrepair. It's a great opportunity for the province to show some of its awesome history, but as it stands now it, like much of the province is in a dilapidated state. Too bad, there is some great potential here. I will say that it is still a great spot to bring kids and is an affordable family outing. Kids still had fun, but as an adult, it's a bit hard to watch the museum's downfall.
Terrific museum, lot's of history and stuff Art gallery sensors are a bit sensitive so watch out
Lots of historical and cultural significance in this museum. Staff are delegate members and are very friendly
Museum was alright. Local history section poor lighting, very low off the ground information boards and disarray of objects that did not transcribe to the information posts (not labels no clue what was what)
Friendly staff! Great way to spend about 1-2 hours in the Saint John location. Lots of fun and knowledge for all ages! Great prices too (even better if you're a CAA member!!)
The museum is a fantastic place to explore and learn with a great amount of exhibits to enjoy.
It was ok. I went there in 2010 and everything seems to be the same. There is a section that's closed off due to flooding....I hope they fix it and get a chance to add something new
Very reasonable ticket prices. The whale exhibit is great and lots to do for the kids. They had science experiments for the kids to do with great, friendly staff. All of the exhibits about New Brunswick history were great, especially the ship information and exhibits.
Always a pleasure to visit. We used to drive to Saint John a couple of times a year to go to the museum with our girls. That was a while ago. Went today and as exciting as ever. So many interesting facets to explore and beautifully displayed.
Myself and my son really enjoyed the sound exhibit today. The staff were very friendly.
Lots to see and read. There is something for everyone. Excellent kids area on the 3rd floor. Worth the money. It takes awhile to do everything.
Can't argue with the $10 admission fee, but this is still a disappointing experience. Things that pop to mind: Some displays are completely missing. One has a note saying it was borrowed by someone for study....over 10 years ago. It has been 10+ years. Get it back, or at the very least, switch out the display. There seems to be a Fundy tides display right at the front. Seemed to be completely inoperable when we were there (mid-Feb 2019). Fix it, turn it on, or get rid of it. A lot of the signage is dated and seems to be peeling around the corners. Some of the signs don't even tell you what the sign is for; the first floor signage is a "read and try to find the item they're talking about". It should be set up more like the bird section where everything has a number to reference on the sign. A good 15% of the place was blocked off or shut down due to building issues or a "work in progress". Several displays had tarps over them and buckets everywhere due to what I assume was a leaking roof. Some skeletons on the ceiling aren't even referenced anywhere (what am I looking at?). All in all, hugely disappointing - especially the natural history floor. All of this could likely be rectified with a new facility; it really needs to be updated in a hurry. But I guess the current state of it is good enough for the provincial Con. government since they decided to pull the promised money towards creating new facilities. I mean...who needs science and history anyways? I don't know if I despise the current government more for this, or the past governments for not addressing the issue earlier as this place has obviously been falling apart for a while.
I just don’t like museums. Any kind of museums. But I can admit this one looks amazing and worth 10$ for a ticket
Nice artifacts! To bad some of the places were closed due to building problem! Not the museum's fault!
More interesting than I taught. I'm not into art, but it was really a surprise for me to be into it. Worth the price. If you got children, they got a beautiful place for them with you and crafts.
Wonderful ocean exhibits as well as dinosaur and fossil displays
Cool place. Not impressed they had something going on the 2nd floor so we couldnt see the whole museum.... But they still charged us full price !!!!! Not happy
Whale skeletons were amazing. But the exhibits left a bit to be desired. Saw an exhibit on Quebec archaeology that was just okay. The permanent exhibit on last can industry was basic but cool. Worth a visit for sure.
Wonderful experience. Beautifully laid out, easy to get around. Loved the heritage displays and photos. Wonderful little theater with films of various aspects of Fundy Bay. Great little gift shop with items from area craftsmen including pottery, tartan shawls, jewelry and books. Reasonable price.
Small, but priced fair. My children enjoyed it.
