The correct name for this Park is Jim Rennie Park, not Michael Rennie Park (Klattu Mirada Nikto) Jim Rennie was a senior citizen in the mid 70s who spearheaded a drive to secure funding for revitalization of the former town of Port Dalhousie (now part of St. Catharines). He died shortly after the Neighbourhood Improvement Program was introduced which also included the development of the park, a former landfill that filled in the basin of Martindale Pond which housed the 100+ year old Muir Dry Docks. His friends wanted to acknowledge his tremendous effort in securing a quorum of people required in the NIP application as well as his further efforts in moving it forward and petitioned the city to name the park after him. Though the city had a policy of not naming parks after local individuals, it made an exception in this case.

Wish it was longer but a decent trail up in the north end of St Catharines. Small park for kids and long enough for a decent dog walk. St Catharines needs to add more paths like this and connect them to create a better walking path network. ????

jan gordon

Great place to walk. I brought my dog. Bring water for your dog, I didn’t see any access to the lake. I love the boardwalk. A beautiful view of the water and long enough walk which leads into open area with play area for kids. Lots of huge trees to sit in the shade and take in the beauty, or have a picnic. Very peaceful park. Very well kept and clean.

Very nice park down by the water. There are paved walkways if pushing a stroller or wheelchair. There is a nice bridge that leads to a park for the children to play and rowing to watch on the weekends Drawback would be all the geese and goose poop.
