Its a beautiful park with a garden of roses! Which in full bloom is amazing! They also hold events here such as Grape and Wine (my favorite) and a Rib Fest! There is a playground for the kinds and a path to walk around with benches for resting along the way!

Very disappointed this year. Of course the event was the wine festival. First thing is the searching of the ladies' purses. Can't see how this is legal. The park is as usual ....okay. even though I heard a lot druggies have invaded it. We usually look forward to this event but is sagging. Food and drink is extremely expensive and the idea that someone frisk's you at the gate is not something I don't want to do. Questionable we will return.

Perfect place for a picnic and watching the sunset! :-) great playground for little kids, including an extra large kids swing for handicap individuals..and lots of picnic tables! Yes there may be a homeless person or two on the benches, in the corner behind the rose garden, and a few camped out under the Pavilion (lol) but for the most part they're asleep or chatting with their friends. I know most of them and they won't hurt you. The design plans for this park we're by the same individual that did Central Park in New York city. The isle of trees is particularly stunning to take photographs under! Three seasons of sprinklers every morning around 7:30 FYI.

There is a place for families, elderly, quiet times, busy groups. There are music venues, special occasions like the (Grape and) Wine Festival, Folk Art events, and other events. Just too noisy for some of the close neighbours at times. Public washrooms are available during the warm months. The rose gardens and fountain are beautiful. There is historic plaques to know more about the area. There are 2 Ingress missions there for those so inclined. No sports areas, but lots of green space for impromptu playing, and a good playground for the kids.

Attended the grape and wine festival at Montebello Park and was not impressed. The cost for the tokens was high and what you had to pay for wine and food was far above what I thought. A 2 oz glass of wine was $ 7.50 and all samples of food was over 12 bucks. we had been at the wineries all day and thought these prices were a little high, left the festival and went back to the wineries

Great looking park but has been overtaken by unwelcome sketchy people yelling and screaming. I honesly would never bring any children here not knowing what substances or needles could be laying around. The city really needs to get a handle on this. It's a center Park a block away from city hall. I feel for some of these people but this is public Park not a place to cause a scene, sleep or do hard drugs.

Nice park. However the NRP have decided to allow the park to be taken over at night my folks that make the park very unwelcoming for individuals and especially families. Enjoy during the day, avoid at night...keep an eye out needles in the mornings.

Montebello is beautiful on any given day. Lots of trees. A huge pavillion. A rose garden. Today was grape and wine festival with lots of food tents, wine, and other tasty bits. Sorry. No beer or spirits at this event. But the music... I saw Big Rude Jake play. He is a fantastic performer who plays his own music with a few covers thrown in. It was a perfect day in the park, with the sun shining.

This is a beautiful park on the fringes of downtown St Catharines conceived and designed by Frederick Olmstead who design Delaware park in Buffalo New York and also Central park in New York city. It is a nice open park with a wonderful panoramic view of the Victorian houses surrounding it. It has a bandstand and also a gazebo which are a good asset to the park itself.

Montebello Park has been well kept for years. Staff who oversee the park are always keeping the park clean, well manicured, and healthy. Gardens always full of beautiful flowers, ground is always aerated. Great for picnics, and small or large social gatherings, pets, bocce ball, frisbee. I used to go there daily to read, play cards with a friend, or just relax and enjoy the peacefulness and the scenery there.

Beautiful park great for events. Park a bit beat up and often has signs of vandalism. We went once for a picnic and had a group near by smoking the green stuff with clouds blowing our way. Great for adult events but not the best place for kids and family picnics.

Generally speaking, I love this park. I really do. However, the vagrant problem is REALLY bad. Some of these people are scaring families, doing drugs and drinking in the park, sleeping in the gazebo area, getting mad when people are near said gazebo (almost like they take ownership). I wish they could be redirected to the Salvation Army or something to get the shelter, food, and water they need instead. :-/

Never had a problem with these sorts of festivals in Toronto. Took forever to find an exit because they were all blocked off. Really unfriendly in the drink tent. The people at the food carts were very nice

It's a quiet neighborhood park with a playground for kids to play. Nothing much. Also, little landscaping probably due to the beevers? There is trash next to the central pabilion and the homeless people were checking them. All together it's a quiet place if you need to relax and meet your friends for a picnic. I would prefer if there was a restaurant closeby or even in the park to make people feel safer.

Great place. Decent side parking that is also free on weekends and holds a lot of good events that are monitored nicely. It also has a gated/fenced playground for children to attend if you happen to have.

It's well maintained by the city workers who are very friendly. Lots of places to sit or bring your own chair. In the summer there are lots of events to participate at. Clean public washrooms.

Honestly, I love this park, however over the last couple of years more and more unsavoury type of people have been sleeping at this park. I am afraid at dusk to even go here. One guy just urinated on the bathroom stall. I see people with buggies full sleeping at the park. Dogs running loose. Such a great outdoor space slowly being ruined by vagrants.

This park is beautiful and historically significant. That being said there have been times when I have not felt entirely safe in the park due to aggressive, intoxicated people. Would like to see more resources put into maintaining the rose garden on a regular basis.

great place for kids to play. its not safe sometimes on account of hobos and some ppl drinking/smoking in the park. park is great but some ppl refuse to put dogs on leash which is not safe for kids

I like all the cool events and festivals that are held here throughout the year, however the park itself is kind of run down and there are quite a few homeless that sleep there.. I know they have the park closed and night now apparently but honestly that's just a bandaid for a bullet wound... that's not fixing the problem...

My son and I played some catch and hit the ball around the wide green space in Montebello Park on one of the first mild Spring days of the year. My little daughter quickly tired of this idyllic but somewhat limited spectacle and so ran off on her own to the fairly substantial playground area- it's a safe park, kids can do this here. It'll be in full swing in the coming months, with regular concerts and festivals, and the long, well-stuffed rose garden. Unfortunately, there are always rough characters lingering either on the large or small gazebos or here or there, the park, being downtown, has always attracted it's fair share of weird and wild ones, but it's mainly always peaceful. And the addition of a free wifi hotspot, and chess park across the street, make it even more of destination.

Been there numerous times, both for different festivals and to just relax. Has a pavilion, washrooms, and a drinking fountain. Plenty of benches and some picnic tables, along with a play area for kids in one corner of the park. It's a nice place!
