During our Study Abroad Programme 2017 from University of Agricultural Sciences Dharwad, India. We were very opportune to visit Manitoba State Legislative building at Winnipeg. The entrance has 6 pillars and the other 3 sides have 4 pillars in each side. The most interesting story was to know how those two bison castings were installed inside the building after the roof was constructed. It offers hourly tours and it was very informative. The admission is free and one get an opportunity visit assembly hall and to inspect mace. The building is surrounded by a beautiful park and fountains and sculptures..
Working at the legislative building
Looking forward to the grounds turning green this summer! The back grounds are great place to visit with friends or just hang out and read a book and catch some sunshine. The architecture is pretty awesome and spending time just walking around the building and looking at detail can have you spending hours there. Did you ever wonder who is depicted in that stone work?
Beautiful display for the holidays!
Lovely park for reading or just walking, beautiful place to visit during Christmas
(Translated) there is the statue of this queen for the English but for the French no statue of the French explorer who discovered Manitoba we must not forget the French-speaking minority, this queen has nothing to do here it is rather our french of manitoba who should have their words and not the english who are only emigrants (Original) il y a la statue de cette reine pour les anglais mais pour les français pas de statue de l'explorateur français qui découvra le manitoba il ne faut pas nous oublier la minorité francophone, cette reine n'a rien à faire ici c'est plutôt nos les français du manitoba qui devrait avoir leurs mots et non les anglais qui ne sont que des émigrés
Wonderful stone work!

The Manitoba Legislative building is an incredible historic site. The Hermetic Code Tour is must-see while you’re there. You can learn why there are sphinxes on the roof, or how the golden boy came to Manitoba!
great walking tour and very interesting architecture.
Beautiful building!
Stone work is amazing
Incredible grounds and building, it'll ignite cultic mysticism in anyone who catches a tour and makes a beautiful centerpiece for a Canadian city with a long history. Start a date at the forks and make your way to the gardens and walk around trying to spot all the Egyptian symbols and try to find what some people think is the "Ark of the Covenant"
Impressive!
Extraordinary building!
(Translated) Really a wonderfully beautiful building, reminds me of the new landini power farm that is on site with us, which is also a wonderfully beautiful thing. We also have a new New Holland supersteer of which you would say poh are on site. There is certainly no reason to complain about the coffee.
Well the queen Elizabeth statue was down but otherwise it was ok
Usually open to public during regular day. Great piece of architecture
I was really surprised on how rich this building is marble floors brass everywhere and the also that the materials used have such detail. You do have to sign in with valid ID there are free guided tours and lots of free parking. Also take the time to walk around outside this building and the work that was put into this is really worth the time.
Great place
Beautiful and lots of things to be discovered
Old buddies fam works here. It's a cool place to visit. Alot of things to look at, but I mostly was here just for the field trip when I was younger. The dome area is pretty cool. But other than that it's a part of history. A pretty old and classy looking building. However, it's a nice place to visit.
Great building!!
There are YouTube videos of the state legislature building. Walking tour with a guide. “The building is designed to replicate an ancient temple from 600 BC. Beautiful! My wife and I Are planning a trip because of this short movie. Example of art tourism???? (And our tourism dollars into the pockets of Manitoba). Everybody wins :-) .....
Beautiful building
Historic building and grounds. Stunning architecture. The home of the legislative body which governs the Province of Manitoba.
A great spot to visit in Winnipeg even if we did not get inside. Walk around and take in the beautiful architecture from all sides. The fountain in back makes a great addition. All about our visit to Winnipeg in the RetiredAndTravelling blog post.
The Manitoba Legislative Building is absolutely beautiful. It doesn't take too long to walk around each floor. The inside is as equally breath-taking as the outside. There are plenty of details to admire as you visit each floor and take in the massive structure and its openness. It's very clean and inviting to the public and well kept. There are tours offered, and you may also choose to do a self tour and explore the area by yourself. You'll find plaques with historical information and also gifts from other nations. If you head out back, you'll find a water fountain that is stunning, and if you keep heading further, you'll reach the Assiniboine River Walk that leads to The Forks. Be sure to arrive early though if you're looking for free visitor parking.
Beautiful limestone building
Beautiful spot to stop by. Of course based on days...you may get the random protests and such as well here. Architecturally, it is worth some time to just observe.
Lovely architecture...amazing ambience
Its wonderful place.
A must for tourists beautiful old building
Needs some repair....its a bit run down in places.
Great place to visit for free. Building is beutifull.
It was warm. Lots of people out enjoying the sun in the grounds.
The whole area is nice, and also the interior is nice to visit.
Historic building with great stonework. Very well maintained on the outside and gleaming shine on the inside. Giant bronze bison statues. Take a look up and down then you'll see the legislatives mystery. Tours available. Beautiful fountain on the south lawn. Ample parking and close to other downtown historical buildings.
Great place to visit
Beautiful building with a deep and rich story, a treasure to discover.
Really interesting when you have a guide I suggest all of you to go take a visit
Went on a 1-hour guided tour. Our tour guide was great and I learned that the building has some amazing history behind it!
Racist. Avoid room 225. Other than that security is good and the tour was excellent.
How sad that some of native people destroyed the statues on these grounds. They have taken the focus off the children's graves and put it on their violence and vandalism. July 1, 2021 should have been a day to remember as a memorial to those children - instead it will be remembered as a day the Natives destroyed the statues on these grounds. If they had bothered to study history they would have realized that the Queen did her best to help them. Those poor children have been degraded enough - and now their own people continued the degradation with their destruction and violence. What a shame.
(Translated) Great place to take a walk and admire the beautiful gardens. (Original) Ótimo lugar para um passeio e admirar os lindos jardins.
Great grounds, nice tours, good for summer or winter
The grounds are lit up very nicely! On a calm evening, it is a must to take a short, romantic stroll through the area.
Very nice structure.
Greate place to visit.
Take the tour! There are so many interesting facts about the architectural design of the building and how some old superstitions were incorporated. It's a beautiful building, easy to access. Parking is near by and the grounds are lovely to wander on afterwards, there are memorials to discover, fountains to see and other historical buildings are near by. A must see in Winnipeg!
Hung around on the the grounds with my Grand Daughter. She calls it Grinch Castle.
Prettt big building. I bet you could fit a few elephants in there.
A real amazing history. Beautiful building.
Wow ..
A beautiful building with a history. Beautiful architecture. The interior is great and they have tours multiple times almost everyday. Worth visiting and learning about it.
My reviews outlining how I've slowly uncovered how many ways employees of tge province has broken Canadian Law in denying me so much of what I am entitled too have thousands of views. I've almost got my mind back. I'd like access to an expense account to cover legal fees I would accrue if I was'nt left to figure out a way from under this mess by myself. It would save ne alot if trouble. As it is, along with the thousands of views on my detailed accounts of how Manitoba works for me under many pseudonyms, including this account, the information, corroborative evidence including names, details of events, agencies involved, right down to spelling out how so much of what the province passes off as normal is actually against the Law here in Canada, is all sorted into a box which will be shared with.....well everyone in the world including people whi watched me fight like a dog to eventually die like one by my own hand within the next couple of years if I get sick of dealing with further nonsense. Not because I want too but because Manitiba will have given me no choice. If you don't want to follow Canadian Law, then succede. Don't try and act like its the average CANADIANS responsibility to tow the line on an anti- Canadian agenda that is very apparently in action behind the closed doors of offices in this building.
(Translated) A good place to learn some of this history. You can know legislative's history, very good! (Original) 很好的地方,能了解这的一些历史。you can know legislative's history, very good!
It was under construction
The Manitoba Legislative building is an incredible historic site. A public treasure. This building is so much more than government offices. With stunning architecture and a multitude of gorgeous sculptural and painted works, it acts like a public museum. Go and walk around, you won't regret it. The neoclassical building was completed in 1920 and stands seventy-seven meters tall. Frank Worthington Simon was the architect. Construction started in 1913. The present-day Legislative Building was formally opened on 15 July 1920, the 50th anniversary of Manitoba's entry into Confederation. The Golden Boy is a statue perched facing North on the dome of the Manitoba Legislative Building. Golden Boy was actually created in France by sculptor Georges Garden and modeled after a 16th-century sculpture of the Roman god Mercury. The Queen Victoria Statue stands in the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Building, Winnipeg, Canada. It was designed by the English sculptor George Frampton, it cost $15,000, and was paid for by a mixture of public funds and private donations.
Top 5 urban park spaces in winnipeg
Nice place to visit in Winnipeg! Recommend self guided walking tour around the building
Beautiful building - the only sad thing was nothing was open - we just walked around the inside of the empty building. I don't know why they can't have the parliament doors open so you can see inside the chambers...but everything was locked.
One of these summers I'm going to remember to go on the Hermetic Code Tour. Also it's one hell of a building for taking Wedding Photos
Sucks
Many interesting facts and just a great tour.
A Manitoba gem ! The building and gardens are a great piece of the downtown. The Golden Boy !

Beautiful architecture!
Interesting to go and take a tour. Cool place to see
Whilst I didn’t get time to go inside the building I throughly enjoyed the morning stroll I had throughout the grounds. Very beautiful building!
Its a province wide icon amd worth it just for the gorgeous architecture alone.
I put my hand in something gross in the grass and was washing it off in the fountain, the staff there asked me to please not "wash myself" in the fountain it's decorative. I pointed out the people bathing their children in it just a few feet away in the same fountain but was told they don't stop them because they don't understand... wow
Beautiful building and very nice park
Beautiful decorations during Christmas ???? ????
great place for a picnic
Really neat marble and granite building. First class everything.
Lovely grounds and impressive building. Especially impressive at night with the lighting.
Beautiful grounds to stroll through and get another Canadian history lesson as you read plaques around the grounds. Lots of green space with sculptures. If in Winnipeg I suggest coming down and taking a look for yourself. #localguides
Went to see the beautiful lights and was blown away by how pretty and magical they were. What a wonderful way to get out of the house and do something fun!
Amazing building, beautiful and impressive and such meaning and symbolism in every corner
(Translated) Yes my guide Pallister, Im vaccinated. (Original) Ja mein Führer Pallister, Im vaccinated.
Beautiful building filled with history.
A public treasure. This building is so much more than government offices. With stunning architecture and a multitude of gorgeous sculptural and painted works it acts like a public museum. Go and walk around, you won't regret it.
Beautiful!!!
Place to park briefly while waiting for someone. Likely the only place in Downtown Winnipeg you don't need money!
Excellent! Nice grounds to walk around. Fabulous building.
epic
Beautiful Masonry, but filled with rodents.
Beautiful place to visit for some historic knowledge, as well as stellar photos.
had a early morning 4 hour layover in Winnipeg, so i walked around downtown and came across this area.. the big buildings design looked interesting but for me the landscape was beautiful.. they had all kinds of plants, flowers and trees.. also never seen so many crows in one location. Also encountered a few aboriginal natives, they were friendly and kind people.
Beautiful building with stunning architecture and green spaces outside. Missed the free tours but there are free self-guide booklets by the entrance, which I was not made aware of by the staff. I only found out when I visited the gift shop at the end of my visit. There is a restaurant inside but is only open until 3:00 pm.
So historical and fun!
Amazing place. Good Place for photos, came here for grad pics but lots and lots of people come here for wedding pictures and general photoshoots!!!
