Wonderful place to visit, but because of construction, can't go on the top road to see both edges, only in the balcony of top. Still a nice view from top balcony.

(Translated) Very nice hydroelectric power station. If you come to Revelstoke it is definitely worth a visit. They also have, if you wish, a translation into Dutch that you can listen to at the different numbers. Costs about 4 Canadian dollars but definitely recommended. Nice view from the top of the central and enough information to be found in the information center. (Original) Zeer mooie waterkrachtcentrale.

andrew sadegur

Very cool tour, cheap for the family and not far to get there.

Matthew Zhang

If you buy the tour pass (which is under 10 bucks for all ages), you get a detailed tour of the place starting from when and how it was built to and actually tour of the different levels of the dam itself. You don't get to see the nitty gritty things of the dam but as a plus, you take an elevator to the floors that you visit (fully wheelchair accessible) and you get to go to the top of the dam. The only downside is that it's a little hard to find but not definitely worth it. As the website says it: "Whether you're on a self-guided or guided tour you'll be able to take an elevator to the top of the dam for a breathtaking downstream view of the Columbia River Valley." Now before you get all excited, the visitor centre is only open mid-May to early September (the website isn't very clear).

We just happened to drive past this dam and had to stop to look. The structure itself is just incredible to look at. I did find the centre fairly informative and well laid out but the best part was just viewing the dam itself tbh. From the centre you can take an elevator up to the top where there are spectacular views. Some fun interactive displays for children as well. Definitely worth the stop.

Haven't been here since I was a kid. Decided to break up the drive from Calgary to Kelowna with a stop at the Dam. It's not even 5 min north of town. It was a quiet Monday afternoon so it was just the tour guide and myself. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. I found what he had to say very interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend a stop here to break up a hot drive through the mountains. Mainly because it's like 13 degrees inside the dam.

Mona Shehzad

It was a good experience. We loved it.

Mark Doratti

Was an interesting experience. What I couldn't get over was the "clean" sense I got walking in and around the entire site. Impressed.

I really enjoyed my time at the dam I learned a lot from my personal tour guide -- Ciera. We had a great exchange during the tour. Thanks, Ciera. I was very impressed with the First Nations display. It was evident that a great amount of time, heart and effort went into the display. Overall, a great experience. I would encourage everyone to visit this facility.

Excellent guided tour.. Just be sure to take highway 23N as you can't cross the dam from the west as Google maps would have you believe. Turn in at the Forestry museum before the dam and take the winding road down to the visitor centre.

Brieuc Martinez

(Translated) Impressive! Dam very high that makes us very small. The guided tour is very interesting and takes about an hour. This is an opportunity to discover this universe and how electricity is created. It's interesting for all ages I highly recommend. Good visit. (Original) Impressionnant! Barrage très haut qui nous rend tout petit. La visite guidée est très intéressante et dure environ une heure. C’est l’occasion de découvrir cet univers et comment est créé l’électricité. C’est intéressant pour tous les âges je recommande fortement. Bonne visite.

Andre Hapsara

Great to explore and learn how it works. Awesome for kids to learn. Great view from top above the dam

We visited the dam and visitor center a few days ago when we were visiting Revelstoke. While there we joined a free tour of the facilities. It was an interesting, informative and enjoyable experience. The view from the top of the dam is majestic. I took photos but none of them do it justice. If you're in the area, I highly recommend visiting it and joining one of the free tours.

(Translated) The power plant was completed in 1984 and, in accordance with the Columbia River Treaty of 1964, delivers its electricity to the United States. It is one of the largest and most modern hydropower plants in North America. A 175m high retaining wall collects the water behind it up to the Mica dam. Both reservoirs are operated in a network, the Revelstoke power plant regulating the outflow of the higher-lying Mica dam. Five generators work in the power house. The total nominal output is now 2480 MW. For a long time, the machines were among the largest that existed. Unfortunately, the turbine hall cannot be visited on guided tours.

I didn't expect this to be as cool as it was, and interesting tour (either guided or self guided) and you end up getting some amazing facts about the dam, river systems in BC, and beautiful views. It's a steal of a deal for $8. It's a great activity if highway 1 is closed for hours on end. :)

This isn't too far off route. I have no idea why we didn't stop before because it is great. The visitor center is under construction right now but it meant that we got in for half price! We did a self guided tour but there are free scheduled tours. If you have children and need a pit stop with a stretch your legs, it is wonderful (and super educational). I wouldn't recommend going up this road in the winter but in the summer months, this is so worth it!

I'm biased, as I think Hydro Dams are really cool. But it's a great stop for the whole family. Very informative and interactive guided tour. 6 dollars per adult is one of the more reasonable admission prices you'll come across. As well as a very decently priced gift shop. Thanks BC Hydro!

The Revelstoke area seen from the observation deck is beautiful, this is a part of BC everyone should visit. The dam itself is a great technical achievement, but that doesn't make it very interesting, though kudos to the guide for trying!

That's a big dam. Wish the visitor center was open. The forestry museum next door was neat.

Kane Singh

This is a place you should visit once, they explain you how they generate electricity. Also you can see different scientific machines and you can even operate them. It is guarded place because of dam but guards are super friendly.
