The entire play area surface is filled with sands. I don't like my feet/shoes get dirty, so I don't join my kids. In fact, I didn't see any parent join their kids. Kids get too dirty and carried dirt into my car.

This is a favourite playground in the city. It can get very busy on warm summer nights with family picnics and functions because this park has it all: washrooms amd water fountain, grassy field to kick a ball around, nature lookout and trail along the lake, skate park closeby, many BBQ picnic sites and gorgeous mature trees. BBQ sites close to the playground fill up quickly but if all you need is a place to throw your picnic blanket, there is always lots of room.

Perfect summer time picnic spot with view of Wascana and part of Legislative building as well. You will find a BBQ pit in every 100 meters or so and this is pretty well planned for big or small group leisure outings. Enjoy!!

Need to paint lines on the pavement so people know how to park so more people can utilize the park to its potential and not allow a truck and trailer to park in designated areas away from the park parking lot. Wascana park authorities can do a better job at maintaining their parks and cooking areas as the park had looked like the garbage cans were never emptied on a regular basis and garbage all over the place and they call it a park. ( last time I checked the kids were not suppose to play in an establishment that was full of garbage) the cooking areas really need a good cleaning not only the garbage removed but the cooking grill areas are discustly gross and need to be cleaned because I would never want to cook on a grill full of other peoples left over food and rust.

Definitely a very high tier playground. There are tons of things to play on. The park has changed quite a lot since I was a kid; no more rotting wood for the giant goose slide, plus now it actually looks like a goose. I went to this park at about 7:30am and it was completely deserted, so I got to play around on everything available. I think the glider thing was probably the most fun. They should add those to other parks around the city. I like that they have duplicates of certain play structures, like the spinny chair things, spring-loaded board things, and multi-slides. I can personally confirm that everything in the park works great except for some little diversion involving spinning a wheel that makes a toy car move in some plastic casing. Plenty of fun here for kids and adults alike (as long as you aren't "too mature" to have fun). Oh yeah, the parking situation is most excellent. Watch your step on the grass. The geese have been leaving behind a considerable amount of droppings. One might go so far as to say that it is bogus.

It's interesting that Google wants me to rate this park. I would rather go to him Wascana instead of candy cane. It's just a patch of grass recent Reese rounding it. There is a skate Park really close to it as well. The reason is called candy cane is because of the candy cane sculpture in the middle of that square.

It is a Park with a Candy Cane Statue. Idk if it is a tree painted of an actual statue. Either way it is nice open space with BBQ's for coal and tables. I always manage to find a copy to cook and their is skate and children park. Great for outings with the family. Oh and there is parking

Great experience, lots of spots for families to come bring large groups of people for a BBQ or family event, the park is well maintained , with bathrooms and water fountain close by the play area. if you are new to the city, you won't regret coming here. Park here if you're planning on hitting the playground or finding a picnic table. Here's some insider info. If the area near the parking lot is packed, drive over to the parking lot in front of the science center, the one across from the play structure. Across the open field there are more picnic areas that most people don't know about. You can walk a bit down the river to find a few very secluded spots.

Nice place for picnic or evening walk. Well maintained picnic spots , clean bathrooms and drinking water fountains are big plus of this park.walking trails are usually clean and free of rifrafs. This is no smoking pack but you will find many people smoking even right by kids play grounds. Police presence is lacking specially during weekends and evenings. I would stay away from this park during late evenings.

Very nice park in city unfortunately while there, our group was distracted a few times by "NEW CANADIANS". We treated them kindly and with respect, allowed them to have some items. However when we left we had to clean up all there garbage that they left of the items we gave them. Garbage bins are plenty full and easily accessed. Please we have beautiful parks and we really enjoy them but if people aren't going to take 20 seconds out of your time before you leave to clean up please "PLEASE STOP USING OUR GREEN SPACES FOR YOUR GARBAGE EITHER TAKE WITH YOU OR PLACE INTO BINS PROVIDED BY THE CITY."

The children 4 yrs. and 20 months had a great time. A variety of structures to enjoy and challenge kids of different ages and skills. The slides on Queenie were metal so were faster than the plastic slides. Lots of fun !!! Have to take a picnic lunch with us next time.

This park has many great features, walking and biking paths right along the lake, playground with lots of options appealing to both youngest children as well as older kids. Sign says from May to October they have washrooms. Definitely returning:)
