Pretty cool to see what's beneath the Dufferin Terrace. They seem to have spent a lot of money to preserve the space, but the wow factor doesn't seem to be there.

I do love history, seeing this place was quite cool. It is an underground museum of the original Chateau Louis from mid 1700's. There are lots of interactive information that tells you about each room in the cellar. They have exhibits of artefacts dating from mid 1700's, the time Louis built and lived in the chateau, to the 1800's with the final inhabitants of English aristocracy. Because the chateau burned down in mid 1800's, the only part of it that remained is the underground cellar where the servants worked, cooking meals and doing laundering. It is a very important piece of Quebec's history, well worth to go and see if you like historical preservation. The cost is very agreeable.

You can take a peek at the ruins below from the terrace. There is a sort of "sunroof" that allows you to look below. However, the guided tour would have been great so we could see it all.

Thank you to the friendly and helpful staff member on site at the exhibits (25 Sept evening) -- having someone passionate about history on hand made a difference.

(Original) Qualité du site et des artéfacts impressionnante, pas cher pour ce que l'on y apprend sur les début de la colonie. Si vous pouvez visiter le site sous la promenade, c'est grisant!

This museum of archaeological artifacts is fabulous. The construction under the boardwalk is fascinating, the interactive displays are well conceived, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The price is very reasonable. My wife, sister, and myself were engaged for at least two hours. I highly recommend this museum.

Its just an amazing experience to see that what could possibly be built 3-400 years ago, the architect and engineering is amazing. The Jar/Vase in the site is more than 200 years old. Definitely visit if you like history or engineering. The fridge is the famous attraction in there.

(Translated) You can take a guided tour (fixed schedule). We opted for the free tour, but there are many explanatory panels to inform us and employees to answer our questions as needed. My children (9 and 12 years old) loved to discover these vestiges of the past and learn about Quebec City and its governors over time. In my opinion it is a must see when visiting Castle Frontenac.

Extremely confusing, actors not in English, missing directions/entrance sign/staff at each room to explain things and didn't even have pencils for their own books. Overall it is the ruined remains under the concrete patio that are intriguing but impossible to visualize - especially with all the modern day pipes overhead. Potentially one of the worst historic sites we have seen of the 30+ so far.

It's ok, but the sheer history and grandness of digs like this in Europe make this exhibit kind of a joke as far as I'm concerned.
