A most beautiful village square, especially when decorated for the holiday season.

Beautiful architecture
Beautiful at night in the winter.
Amazing place to be part of history, once you're there, you won't feel like going back home!
Beautiful but crowded. Plenty of options to eat and drink .
Created in 3D the mural shows the old and new of Quebec.
Beautiful square with restaurants and shops surrounding it plus a lovely old church built on the spot of Champlain’s previous trading lost. So much history. Be sure to read the plaques.
Beautiful place to just experience.

(Translated) Place Royale in Old Quebec with Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church is a very beautiful place to visit day and night. A scene from the film “Stop me if you can” (Catch me if you can) with Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hanks was filmed there. In the film, it was the small village of Montrichard that we see towards the end of the film. The time of the arrest of Frank W. Abagnale Junior.
It's really awesome!!
The roads/sidewalks are unbalanced
Beautiful place. The church in the center stands as a reminder of the times gone by. The shops around it sell all sorts of stuff, from pricey paintings to trinkets to good food. Enjoyed being there.
Beautiful historical place
Literally the most stunning part of Québec City. It is such a beautiful place that has so much character, and what's even better is that it has remained the same over the years. Cannot wait to return as it's got lots of cute cafés, shops and cobblestone streets.
Beautiful streets....should come morning and then at night to see the lights.... only thing is quebec city is a bit dead early at night... I wish restaurants served food after 9.....
I love it!!!!!

Beautiful well maintained historical buildings all around. Shops and restaurants are charming
So beautiful
Stuff is nice. Location is excellent. There is too much noise at night in a way that I woke up many times and could not sleep. It is not clean enough. There are stains on the sheets, the floor is definitely dirty. If i have the choice i prefer to not come back. If there is no other choice spending the night will not kill you.
Beautiful, colonial era architecture.
Very crowded and the parking was horrible.
Beautiful
What a place. 10 out of 10

(Translated) Very characteristic square, enclosed by suggestive ancient buildings, all beautifully restored and decorated with flowers. Truly a beautiful place. Here it seems to be really in France. Nice place
Not much to see but it’s good to learn about the history, thought it’d be spectacular at night during winter season but they didn’t have much Christmas light on, was a bit disappointing.

This place is magnificent during the winter season. We have been coming here for two winters back to back just to spent the new years Eve. The disco party was pretty awesome. Walking in a winter wonderland
A huge deck patio off one of the restaurants covers almost half of place royale and has completely ruined what was previously the not so hidden gem of Old Quebec. Unbelievable.
big hill, old buildings, cool river, high walls -- what more do you need?! muggins kept trying to trick me saying we were in canada; i went along with it, but i knew we were really in france.

This is not a bad little square, especially when the Christmas tree is up. But it's not too special so I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
Great European look streets and river view .
(Translated) Place Royale deserves a special mention! It's a super nice little square - even cinematic! - and the birthplace of French colonization. It is ground zero: it was exactly here that the city of Québec was founded in 1608. There you can also see and enter the beautiful Notre-Dame-des-Victoires church from 1687. It is also worth mentioning that just a few steps away (Rue Notre-Dame) you will also be able to see a huge wall panel called La Fresque des Québécois which depicts characters and historical events in everyday scenes that contributed to the development of the city. You can spend a lot of time watching every detail and you will always see something different! A work of art for everyone to enjoy! -> Hey! One of the best places of Quebec City to visit. Very genuine.
It was beautiful ????????????????
beautiful small square
Highly recommend going in the evening. This particular area is very well decorated and adorned for the holidays, and as other reviewers have stated, it does have that medieval appeal and feel. You can feel the energy of the history and just have an appreciation for that history.
This shopping, historic, and restaurant area is a must go to when you go to Quebec City. Please don't confuse it with the Hotel Place Royal. Place Royal is in lower part of the city. There is just so much to see in this area. Don't forget to go into the side streets and weave around to make sure you see as possible. You may choose to take the cart ride up / down from the upper city. We paid for the hop on / off pass. But we ended up doing a lot walking between some of the places.
Lovely room
Beautiful but overcrowded place
Historical landmark
Impressive, we got to view the Opera festival show!!
Beautiful!

Very busy place. Line ups were huge. Bathrooms were clean

As a local, I consider this place as one of the most beautiful view in Quebec City.
(Translated) I loved the place and I plan to visit again several times ✌ (Original) J'ai adoré l'endroit et je compte refaire la visite plusieurs fois ✌
Love it here. The old cobble stone roads and old time atmosphere. Reminds me of Europe and Nassau (just without the humity/tropical climate).
This square is in the middle of a busy tourist shopping, restaurant, cafe and bar area. It's quite a charming and alive touristy area with historical European style buildings lined with flowers, and tour groups are always passing through throughout the day (especially when there's a cruise ship in town). There's also a church and a large snow globe here. As it leads on to many alleyways with plenty of small shops, and places to eat and drink, it's a good place to visit as part of your sightseeing.
Very nice place
Very nice hotel. Helpful staff, beautiful rooms, the best location to walk every where
So so

Great coffee and cozy warm atmosphere
Great place to visit when you are in the area.
A plaza on the lower part of Old Quebec by the St-Laurence River. It's a very popular tourist area with lots of quaint little restaurants and souvenir shop's. A lot of the buildings have frescas painted on the walls. I had the best ever maple ice cream with a small piece of maple sugar on top. This year the area is covered in colourful umbrellas. Well worth a visit
Beautiful square. Get a coffee and sit down to let it all soak in. There are several performers that will present at random intervals. They are very unsuspecting and great.
(Translated) Very pretty but very touristy. (Original) …
(Translated) It is an emblematic spot in Old Quebec, winter and summer! Woooooow!
V.good
What's more to say about this spot. One of the most historic places in Canada , absolutely beautiful spot and where I got married. Go in early spring , late fall or on the coldest days to avoid the crowds.
Lovely square in the heart of the old city. Very photogenic.
Place Royale offers a tremendously beautiful, historical atmosphere of the 1900's with numerous stores surrounding the area. You'll definitely need at least 2 days to explore the true ancient beauty of the whole district! Also: you won't be counted to have visited Québec City if you haven't gone to Place Royale!
Gorgeous
Really cool place to chill. Grab a coffee from smith's and enjoy the beauty and the ambience of this amazing place. Very picturesque.
Good photo spot, but much more interesting if you look up the history. Nice open area for a meeting place in Lower Town of Old Quebec City. there are several shops, cafes, and restaurants around here.
Simply beautiful...
We went when it was sleeting and tried to make the best of it. The area is quaint and there were people dressed as elves caroling and chatting to being cheer. We stopped at Cafe de Maison Smith to warm up.
Hands down my favorite place in Quebec city. It has a vibe that is unexplainable. It makes me feel nostalgic, explorative, excited... It's like something out of a movie! Yet it is connected to history and roots that are very real. It's truly magical!
Very pretty and enjoyable pace to visit
(Translated) Very nice and clean. The shops are attractive. (Original) Très beau et propre. Les boutiques sont attrayantes.
Love it.
Went here for dinner in the evening. It is stunning and a must see. Going back for shopping today.
nothing really there, my kids were utterly disappointed and my day got slightly worse because of it. Guess you could sit down there pretty comfortably.
A must when in Quebec
(Translated) Superb place visited. (Original) Superbe endroit a visité.
Amazing square just a couple of steps from the Umbrella Alley. While there is a beautiful church there, there are also a few shops and some restaurants. If the day is better there are also musicians playing some instruments. We went during late summer and they had a dome at one end of the square which had an artificial snowstorm created to give a wintery feel. There was also a senior (in his late 70s or early 80s I believe) playing a keyboard. Amazing place to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
No one cleaned the snow from the front of their store and in general everyone seems unwelcoming. We saved money like this but the rest of Canada is not like this.
Very pretty . Kept very clean and nice staff
Love it!
Simply beautiful
Feeling of France
Mostly, it's a historical place. You should come here with panflets and info about the history of this place. Besides that, there's nothing much to do. You can visit the church and learn about it's history too.
Fabulous
Royal place!
Everyone should visit Quebec city to see the history and people of a wonderful city.
Amazing place to visit. Very cold in winter though
(Translated) I love walking in the pedestrian streets and seeing the old houses well maintained and well decorated. Perfect place for coffee, loved to admire the architecture of this historic site, it's so beautiful specially at night.
Great little public square that has a fun, historical vibe.
Great food
The restaurant is very old and has tons of charm. The food wasn't amazing although it was reasonable and felt we got what we paid for. The restaurant is in Old Quebec where many places there tend to be expensive, this isn't one of them.
Amazing

One of the most beautiful place in the world
We started dreaming about this place soon after we booked our hotel in Quebec city. Heard a lot about the cobblestone roads and those colorful patios serving up exotic French dishes. Our drive took us via the river for a considerable period of time and we were mesmerized by the beauty. This is old Quebec city and has all the beautiful sights to see. You need to see things personally to understand and experience the beauty. I'm out of words to describe the feeling we had when we got there - all of us were going crazy taking in the sights. Plenty of paid parking around and that won't be an issue. It was so colorful and tastefully decorated and immaculately maintained. When the nights come on at night it's another sight to behold. There is no mistaking the French contributions They have boat rides too at certain times and you can take in the spectacular view from the water. I have not seen anything more beautiful than this place and you can spend a whole day or 2 roaming around and having fun. Go through my pictures and you will believe everything I mentioned. DONT FORGET TO VISIT THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE IN QUEBEC CITY. PERIOD!!!
Nice

(Translated) Very nice square and very busy for tourists visiting the old city. There are different types of establishments where you can buy souvenirs and also places to stop along the way and have a drink. It is worth going there and enjoying. Se encuentran diferentes tipos de establecimientos donde comprar recuerdos y también lugares para hacer un alto en el recorrido y tomar algo. Merece la pena desplazarse hasta allí y disfrutar.
Absolutely beautiful area! Must visit ????
nothing special
Small, picturesque square that gets a little too crowded with tourists during the day. This is one of those places that make you feel you're in an old town in Europe, especially with the architecture of the surrounding buildings, the cobblestone pavement, and yes, the sheer size of the crowds.
Excellent place to visit
Good sight seeing
We like Quebec city!

(Translated) The monument to LOUIS XIV amazes all French tourists who have never seen a bust of the king in France. The 2 benches around are appreciated by walkers but they take away the importance and dignity of the monument. LOUIS XIV is the king who, at the suggestion of Mgr de Laval, in 1664 regrouped the private colonies of Quebec, Trois-Rivieres and Montreal in a province called NOUVELLE-FRANCE under the authority and the Treasury of the French crown, with governor general and steward. The Place Royale is the birthplace of New France. Notre-Dame des Victoires stands on the foundations of L'HABITATION, the first residence and store built by Champlain when he founded Quebec in 1608.
Very beautiful !!
There was almost no crowd when I went so I was able to sit down and rest a while in peace. Loved the architecture and the cobblestone streets. Also the harp musician is awesome, he is so talented. There was another musician (guitar) on the opposite side of the square. There is a free public bathroom by where the harp guy is. I wish I could go inside the church and see the interiors but it looked like it was closed. 도깨비 출연하신 하프아저씨 아직도 계시네요 ㅎㅎ 무료 공용화장실 있어요! Date of visit oct 14, 2021
