Another one of Prince George's lovely walking trails. There's always lots of people here in the summertime. Is it dog friendly please so it makes sense that so popular. Make sure you wear bug spray as it's close to the river and the mosquitoes get pretty bad. It's a great trail that connects to fort George park and all the way down to the Cameron Street bridge. Great for walking biking or even a picnic!

The trails wind around the Fraser River and through the trees to the old train bridge. There are benches located along the way and you'll see carvings in the trees that are done by an artist no one ever sees. It's very dog friendly. The squirrels and birds eat out of your hand which is amazing to see. So family oriented as well.

Well designed park with groomed trails that connect two park in downtown Prince George.

Shayna Graham

Tyler Newstead

Good place to stroll with friends, dogs, kids or by yourself. Long pathway starts from by Cameron street bridge and winds it's way down all the way to the 1st Avenue bridge. You have the option of following it even farther as well as it is part of the 30 something km trail that circles Prince George. Little bit rooty in some places, which can make stroller travel difficult depending on the style your using. Keep eyes open as quite often there are people biking down the path as well. It can get fairly busy at times, but for the most part it doesnt get that congested as it is quite a large park. Be careful of the wash puts as well. There are alternate routes in place, but if you choose to throw caution to the wind, some of the pathways are barely there. Enjoy!

Hannia Fuentes

There are two trail systems in the park, one for the island and one that runs along the river and exits the park. To access the island, take one of the bridges. It can be buggy at times but this is one of the most beautiful parks in Prince George. The carvings are cool and it's fun to try and find them all. We counted 11 but I think we missed a couple.

Good place to run or walk. There are usually other folks on the trails. The tree bark art is unique. Good place to go talk with your significant other. The trails can be a bit rundown and the river eats away at the bank edge but it is still worth exploring.

nikki Rogers

Randy Roy

Cottonwood park is a real gem of Prince George. Wonderfully maintained trails that are wheelchair accessible and a beautiful view of the river. Keep your eyes peeled for the many carvings all throughout the park. I seem to find a new (to me) carving every time I’m there.

Rick Last

Gem of a trail on the river In Prince George. Check the large trees along the trail for local artist carvings.

Paul Schoenthal

Beautiful scenery !!

Mark Preston

I have always enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the riverside trails. There is a local artist who has truly enhanced the view by carving figures of native art, castles dragons and other beautifully designed items into the thick cottonwood bark. You round a corner and spot yet another masterpiece framed by nature. A rare treat.

Lovely park. A nice long walk if you take the entire thing and you can use this park to loop up through the bridge to LC Gunn and back down, although that does take you though a scuffed area of town it is an enjoyable little hike that will take about an hour to 2 hours

Dean Birks

Ben Berland

When you walk through this park, it's hard to believe that it was once an area that was inhabited by houses and a small community of people. It was known as the Island Cache and well populated until the spring came when the floods came. The floods still come annually and there are signs everywhere as many trails and some bridges have been washed out. However, it is a great set of trails that take you along both the Nechako and Fraser rivers. Great place for a walk, run, or bike ride.

Great place for a stroll or jogging along the river.

A great park for a walk, whether solo, in tandem or with the family. Paved trails (mostly) throughout - but they can be bumpy so if you've got a stroller, wheelchair or scooter, keep your heads up for some uneven parts. The mosquitoes can get bad in the summer so don't forget the bug juice. If you're a runner this is an awesome start and end point for a run. Run loops in the park or run West to the bridge and back. Lots of nice lookout points and bencehs scatered throughout. If you're into Geocaching there's a couple caches here for you. If you're into Pokemon Go...well...I can't help you...just don't fall into the river. During the winter pay close atention, parking lots and trails can get icey - bring cleats or snowshoes. Beautiful winter views; don't forget to make a snow angel!

One of the best parks in PG. River side trails to explore, always wild life to see, painted rocks to find, carvings in the trees to find and chickadees that will eat from your hand. My family has spent countless hours sitting by the river playing in the dirt and exploring the river bed during low season.

(Translated) The cotton white poplar tree has a well-deserved name. The cotton batting in one place and the special wood texture of the cotton white poplar are used to carve various people, animals, castles and other woodcuts on the thick trunks. It is strange and ingenious! (Original) 棉白杨树,名不虚传,一地的棉絮加上利用棉白杨特殊的木质纹理,在粗大的树干上雕刻的各种人和动物、城堡等的木刻,奇思异想,巧夺天工!

Studies show spending time in nature is excellent for human health and happiness. Take a winding stroll on dirt and gravel paths among towering Cottonwood trees, see small animals like squirrels and birds (black bears sometimes visit the area but are rarely encountered), bring a bike for a leisurely ride, or gaze out over the flowing Nechako River. In autumn the river levels drop, allowing access to explore the gravel banks mid-river. In winter the paths are plowed, though can be slippery at times, grippy footwear recommended. Overall an excellent place to slow down and feel good.
