REVIEWS OF Avonlea Village IN Prince Edward Island

Amante Amante

This little village plays of the Anna Green Gables book. It's free entrance with clean washroom facilities. The pizza and lobster rolls are excellent. Get out and stretch your legs.

Chris Manning

Fun little tourist trap. Lots to see and plenty of snack or meal choices. Lots of different art and knick-knacks.

Shawn Nicol

Visited in July 2016. Was an ok place to pick up souvenirs and the like. Had some Cows ice cream that was fantastic and did a little shopping. From reading other reviews I hear that this place used to have a lot more interactivity. I wish it was a bit more now. Was it ok, yes. Could it be better, oh yes.

Peter Moore

It was ok...much of the same tourist type things. Not much to do or eat really. The burger place where we ate was great! Other than that not a place I will likely return too.

Lee Deskins

Good place to walk around, get some food see local crafts and artists.

Todd Miller

Great spot for lunch with beautiful scenery.

JH Monsen

Nice place to stretch your legs and get an ice cream, browse a couple of shops but in fairness, it wasn't a highlight of our trip to PEI. Bought a beautiful (chopping) board from a barn here though; locally made in beautiful wood - still happy about that purchase

Esther Mason

Hard to find on Google maps but the country music concert was behind Avonlea Village. Fantastic variety of artists and lots of amenities.

Tinks P

Oh dear! Nothing to do with Anne of Green Gables whatsoever. Simply a tourist cash cow full of junk food and tourist shops. There's a church which L.M. Montgomery used to attend...however, it's not a church anymore and the most interesting thing about it is that it has been relocated. If you're interested in Montgomery, there are far more relevant and worthwhile things to do. As my husband said, Avonlea village was like Disneyland but without the fun!

Evan R. Phinney

Great if you just want to eat and shop for souvenirs. I remember it much differently even from just 6 years ago... You could dress up in period clothes, there were skits being performed, there was a petting zoo... Was kind of disappointed, but my kids had fun anyway!

Rachid M (Qala Hamra)

The village is free and small basically you go their to eat only nothing special. The pizzeria is very good. Good services and products range. Recommended

Mr. Beedz

This place is a little misleading. I was under the impression it was an old village replica with old fashioned activities (actors in period clothing and/or interactive activities). It’s basically just a food court and small shops.

Kathy Lee

A stop for quick snacks/lunch or break when visiting nearby places.

maxine chrystie

Although it was all closed up for the season it was pretty and picturesque

J Cline

Great centralized food and gift venue in a village from 2 centuries ago (right out of Anne of Green gables or Road to Avonlea. We went to Boom burger and I will caution you that a large fry was spilled over into the bag.....soooo many fries made from Local spuds. Meat is fresh and local as well. We had a sampling of Cows ice cream and checked out some of the shops. A couple of the buildings needed roof repairs but other than that it was a well kept spot.

Ryan Milone

Fun little village to walk around, but not too exciting. Mostly just places to eat, and didn’t have many vegan/vegetarian options available. I thought I may get to walk around here for a half an hour but I probably only spent like 5-10 minutes.

Jody Gervais

Tourist trap, avoid wasting your time and money. There are no intrinsic or cultural value. One minor trinket shop. The other buildings are mostly restaurants. Pretty little village.

Patrick O'Hanley

I do really enjoy coming here. The stores are great and the donuts are really amazing. The guy who owns the Donut By Design shop is really nice. Also I was really excited to here that there was going to be a Boomburger put in here at Avonlea Village, but as I was driving to work one day at Sandspit, I realized that there was the Boomburger sign on the church. I thought "thats kinda strange". So a few weeks later I went to Avonlea Village and realized that the Boomburger is inside the church, which is a heritage spot. To me that is a total disgrace! The church should have been left to how it was!

Erica Lutz

After visiting Avonlea Village this past June 2016, I felt that the atmosphere was terrible; it felt like a ghost town. Before, there was excitement from the moment you walked through the door with the actors all in character, which was fantastic. Having the opportunity to dress up in antique clothing and getting pictures taken was a lot of fun. The carriage ride, along with the little petting zoo was great. The entertainment the musicians provided all day was very enjoyable, it really lifted the spirits of those who entered the village. At the end of the day, getting the chance to interact with the actors and play the fair games with them was a blast for the young as well as the old. I feel that when a person goes on vacation, a person plans to spend some money. Maybe the problem came down to not having the proper advertising, and people were not informed or aware of everything that came with the entrance cost. At the end of the day, I feel that P.E.I. has lost a great attraction and experience while visiting the island on your vacation.

Anuj Sood

It closes at 4 pm. So plan accordingly. After 4, you can view from outside and explore the premises though. No washrooms after hours though.

Joy Fajardo

Really cool place to hang out. Got some food stalls and benches to sit on as well.

Hani Hoang

Really awesome place to visit for food and gifts. Super close to Green Gables and Cavendish KOA. Lots of parking, good prices. Our family was in a food coma after eating such delicious food. Bought a lot of gifts to take home.

Andrew Dobbie

Great place for artisan goods and Cows ice cream! Home of the annual Cavendish Music Festival.

Zhiyong Sun

No more than a lite shopping area with a few nice looking building (from Anne age). I heard good things about the village and my daughter, who just finished the book, was very looking forward to it. However nothing really there about the book anymore, just a bunch of gift shops, some food places, and live music for a fee. They could have kept some of the book related activities and do a bit of mix and match. This new way will not really be attractive to many people coming for the name of Anne.

Ruby Dehad

Went there a bit late, some shop already close, went to gift shop the price is over price compare to other gift shop in cavendish area.

Lynne

Lots of parking but not much to see or do, alot of stores are closed.

TONY Gladstone

It is a tourist thing, but there is enough there for the locals too. Cows ice cream is great, there are other food outlets for pizzas and burgers and moo moos. Great little artisan shops too.

Chandu Andhe

Great place for relaxing and looks great

Lori Bourgouin

Amazing experience. Purchased some artwork and met some fantastic artists. Sheila Forsythe a local artist helped me choose some wonderful paintings by Karen Gallant.

Daniel Blanchard

Tourist place, nothing special but you can get food and half decent coffee. Large free parking, nice afternoon stroll, kids park.

Mosa Altalibi

Doughnuts by Design! Best fresh doughnuts in PEI

Jen Ulasiewicz

Oh my gosh! As a huge fan of the Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea series, this was a dream come true! My husband and kids did not grow up reading the books or watching the shows and they even had an absolute blast! I cannot give enough credit to the characters who never broke their character once and got us to play along with them! One of them even taught our kids how to play a game called Crokinole. We heard great music, ate delicious food and treats, and had the best time enjoying this super fun little town! Keep in mind, this is not the town from the shows but I did not care, it was awesome anyways. I will never forget our experience here ????

Steve Lee

Perfectly described by Google Maps, "Tribute town with shops & eateries". Besides some of the buildings being historical, nothing inside is. It's still worth a visit if you're looking for a short walk, see some local crafts and to grab a bite to eat.

Patrick Flowers

We visited here a few years ago, admission came as part of a package that included other parks in Cavendish. We didn't know what to expect but we're pleasantly surprised. Everyone was is period dress and we followed a storyline all through the village. There were plays, singing, and demonstrations. We ended up spending the better part of the day here. From what I'm reading with the other reviews it sounds like things have changed and they may not run things like when we visited. If so that's very sad. Our visit was one of those really special experiences that family memories are built out of.

D Brown

This is a nice place e to wander around. Was let down as a couple of the bigger stores where closed. We had some Cows ice cream, lines at this branch where much shorter the the board walk branch. Wandered through most of the shops lots of random tourist things.

Charlie Charlie Oscar

We went to Samuel's Coffee House and it was fantastic. They had some very friendly kids options and specialty coffees for us parents. They had almond and soy milks for us vegans, which was great. They have separate breakfast and lunch/dinner menus. We were there at breakfast, but just grabbed something light - cinnamon toast, which was a childhood treat for me. Outside Samuel's there is an Artisan Donuts, Cow's Creamery as well as a pizza/pasta place. You can't miss Boom Burger in the old church. There are a few shops to check out too, not many, maybe 4, 1 of which was antiques and 1 being Anne of Green Gables based. It's a neat little 'village' to hit up for lunch from the beach or, as in my case, you want a coffee and a walk around.

Zackdragon 42

It use to be very fun, Once a complete replica of avonlea village with people in costumes, shows, animals, and old avonlea activities, is now a shopping square, very sad to see, good food and shops but no longer it's former glory.

Rick Fidler

It was an ok spot. I found the restaurant prices a bit high but boom burger had good fries. There was definitely a lot of variety and hand crafted items in the shops around.

Nita Saulnier

Really clean place but veryyyy expensive place . The lobster grill-cheese was good but you are still starved after eating it for $18.doesn’t even include a drink

Robbie Stuart

Tourists, this may not be what you think it is if your information is outdated. This used to be a historic village however now it is full of shops and a few restaurants for all different occasions. It's still worth visiting to see some of the old buildings and the shops offer decent souvenirs and quality food. Plenty of free parking and great cows ice cream at the entrance.

Jenny LM

It's a nice little place, but not somewhere to spend a day. Has various eateries and shops. There's a Cows Ice Cream, Boomburger, Dave's Lobster, and more. Definitely a tourist place. Plenty of seating areas. Parking avaliable.

Paul Trainor

We had a great time. Try the pizza and chocolates!

David Macdonald

It's just a bunch of stores but in old looking pei houses. Sort of like and outdoor mall. Now the stores are nice and I got an ice cream here, but you're not really going to feel like your in an Anne of Green gables musical or anything.

Faria Kazmi

Really cool shops. We tried the smoked salmon bagel and the grilled cheese sandwiches - both were amazing. The grilled cheese is a must have!

Christopher Ketelaars

Great little spot to wander shops, eateries or to take in a traditional East Coast music show. I personally preferred these shops and restaurants to the more popular boardwalk and had the opportunity to take in a children's music show which my two year old just loved.

Jean-Francois LeBlanc

Stopped by at the Village here today. Great restaurants and food available for purchase. This is a very beautiful spot to stop anytime of day!

Ryan Enta

Great outdoor concert venue and stage. Staff is so friendly and helpful. Can't wait to get back to get some fun in the sun. Cow's ice cream. Plus stopping in to grab Anne paraphernalia is a must. Parking can be difficult during CBMF weekend. You've been warned. Got to see lots of flowers, cows and potatoes.

Shyla Tibando

We went here for lunch and ice cream. It was a good pit stop for a stroll and food and I’m told less crowded than the boardwalk. I felt the charm had been replaced by well organized touristy planning. We ate delicious grilled cheese at Moos Moos and ice cream at Cows.

Richard Harrell

A nice place to grab Anne of Green Gables memorabilia.

Rahul Churiwala

If you are looking for food and also want to look at awesome looking houses this is the place.

Valfaye Shaffer

Enjoyed the tour around the village. Enjoyed Boomburger for lunch

David Ayres

Hey, it's Anne of Green Gables....what's not to like?! Fun shops, good food, nice sitting areas. As long as you embrace you're being pandered to as a tourist it's a nice experience.

Sandra Bowes

Love what they’ve done with the place! By preserving history and reusing these buildings, they’ve recreated a quaint village for everyone to enjoy. The gardens are beautiful. There is shopping and restaurants for everyone’s tastes. One of my favourite spots in Cavendish to visit, even as a local

Sebastien Auger

I used to love Avonlea Village. There used to be actors playing iconic scenes from Anne of green Gabel. Traditional music being played at the barn. You could have spent an afternoon and never think of leaving. Now this is all gone and only shops and restaurants are left. The entrance is now free because they are aiming on revenue from the concessions.

Justin Libby

Pros: Quaint buildings full of tourist shops. The church has been turned into a burger place. I enjoyed the art gallery shop. The coffee place has a good selection of beverages. We ate lunch at the pizza place and had great service and good pizza. Public bathrooms were great. Cons: The gift shops feel very kitschy. The whole setup feels very forced and touristy. They could use some more trees and shade. If you're on P.E.I. and need an activity that isn't a beach, spend an hour or two here. If you don't, you're not missing too much.

Michael Ryan

This is mainly a trip for the children, there are farm animals and horse driven carriage rides. If you are a history buff this attraction may interest you since some of the building are historical and were moved to the site to be preserved. All in all a nice spot for a family but a bit pricey.

Trevor Fillmore

We were disappointed when we went there on vacation last time we were there it was still a historical village but we were pleasantly surprised by a great eatery. Now I would call it a must visit place when you're looking for a bite lots to choose from.

Paulo Vinicius Radtke

This open air food court is a recreation of the Avonlea area in the Anne of Green Gables books, featuring several restaurants and gift shops with convenient parking. The restaurants range from burgers, pizza, lobster roll (a Maritimes typical sandwich) and grill cheese, with some options for dessert - ice cream, donuts and chocolate. Price range is fair, going from reasonably priced to typical tourist trap value. The gift shop is good, but not so different from the others, though the price is right - if you don't want to shop for prices, it's likely you won't get scalped.

Matthew Tully

Great location to stop and grab a bite to eat as well as do some shopping. Boom burger (in the old church), donut maker, Cows Ice Cream as well as other great little restaurants and shops.

Fuffer Nutter

Awesome! Great place for grilled cheese. Moo Moo and the best chocolate and ice cream around. Clean restrooms too. Looks like an authentic Avonlea village too!

Greg Konney

A tastefully done Village. Wish there were more restaurant choices there

Bradley MacLean

Nice little tourist trap. Few shops not open (covid) but many are. Decent food. Lots of nicnaks and PEI memorabilia. Worth the stop.

C. Y.

Only gift shop is opened. off season closing too early

Samantha Geis

We stopped here with our two dogs for coffee in the morning at Samuels, and looked lunch in the afternoon at Moo Moos. Holy cow, the pulled pork & brisket grilled chese were the best thing we had the whole trip.

Luke Higgins

Visited this location with my friends and was sad to see how much it had changed since I was a kid... they have turned every thing into restaurants... which are not open after August. I can't speak for any of the restaurants but if you are visiting pei in the off season don't come here as there's not much to do. Still a beautiful location if you want to take some photos but other than that avoid this place unless you are visiting during summer. ( this is typical of pei in the off season but I was still very disappointed that there is basically no connection to the original avolea any more. )

Melanie Maynard

Must visit. Great little shops and food!

T Duong

Cute little stop to grab a quick bite and souvenirs.

Chloe

We enjoyed coming here. Like others have said it did seem a little like a ghost town. Would like to see more going on here. It was nice to get a Cows ice cream and walk around though.

Jeff Ohlhausen

Really unfortunate there is no place to park bikes. Only accessible by car really unless your fine leaving your bike. Burger and fries (no drink) $20. 20 minute wait for a turkey sandwich. Not busy at all day we were there despite being in prime tourist season and staff can’t keep up. Please work on the accessibility for active transportation and the service. It’s a neat place but just a tourist trap right now.

Sabbina Venkatesh

Well maintained, variety of food choices. Food lover or not, must visit.

Thomas Maynard

Very cute and fairly touristy. The outsides of the buildings are old looking with modern shops inside. You can get local art in most of the art stores. The Anne store is cute, if a little commercial. You can get a couple local beers from the restaurants but no local wine. The food is generally good, depending on which place you go, obviously. This is not an immersion experience for Anne of Green Gables but it's a cool place to stop, shop, and eat.

David Davidson

Samiels coffee was a wonderful start to the day

R. C.

It was clean. Lots of selection. It has a beautiful garden to walk through. There are shaded picnic tables.

Sheri Levesque

Boomburger @AvonleaVillage was probably one of the best burgers ???? I've had. My family was super impressed. Would definitely go back!!

April Peters

This is not, in any way, a historic village or anything (sadly). It's a bunch if kitschy shops and chain restaurants. Some of the food is good but I wouldn't bother going unless you're looking for a quick lunch.

Master iOqY

Its touristy for sure but if it preserves historical buildings in some way then I'm all for it. It's also a stones throw away from Green Gables so a good place to grab some grub before or after your visit. All the COWS gave are here from …

Victoria Soda

This is a really cute spot for lunch and just to kind of take you outside of the norm of your day. There are small shops in the area, some artisan shops and ice cream (Cows, of course).

Charles Coutu

It's a cute place for a couple hours.

Michael Leake

The sign on the roadway proclaims this to be the best dining on the island and there's plenty of parking. But we were disappointed with the actual contents of the village. There's some different restaurants (pizza, burgers, grilled cheese) but they all seem to be overpriced. There is a gift shop, and some of the buildings, like the church, have historical value. All in all, if you miss this place you'd be okay.

Peter Ramsay

Delicious individually prepared hamburgers and fresh Island potatoe fries at Boomburger.

Ron Cordless

Quaint, pricey, yummy, lovely if you like the movies... boring if you don't.

Andrew Valeri

Cheesy tourist spot. If you're in Cavendish and you want a break from all the museum's,theme parks, and beach you can go shopping and eat here. Its fake quaint. My wife and I get ice cream from cows. And I've heard the pizza place is good. If you don't like tourist spots. Don't go to cavendish and don't go here. You are forced to walk through it to get to the music festivals which is why we were there.

Paul Lenarczyk

The idea of the village, variety of restaurants and shops, outdoor food court and ample parking, is all great, but for a commercial space this size the lack of restrooms is shocking. When I arrived just after busy lunch time, the women’s was closed for cleaning, there was a lineup to the tiny men’s rooms and everyone started going in there which is fine, but then on top of this the single family washroom and the fact that toilets in the regular bathrooms are the worst possible design for little kids made it very awkward to have my three year old use the bathroom. A terribly planned and executed set up. Good ice cream, though.

Christine Raby

What a cute little "town". We stopped just to go to Piatto for pizza and cow's for ice cream. I imagine on nice days in the height of summer it's very vibrant.

James Panton

Good place that brings together some niche and higher end food and craft business. Since it used to be a living history site it may confuse some people as to its purpose but it 100% commercial offerings now.

Hina Why

It was nice to walk around in but since we weren't interested in shopping, there really wasn't much to do or see. I was expecting people to be dressed up and for more interactive displays...

Natasha LeBlanc

Beautiful place to visit. Small museum but very lovely. Worth the walk in the forest if you like nature. Staff on site are awesome and know well the history of the place. Plus you can also visit inside the house! Great experience would recommend even if you didn't read the book.

Kris Jardine (SnaggleJ)

Wonderful food options, great atmosphere

Shannon Blanchard

Really enjoyed our stay, the cottage was cozy and close to all the fun activities.

Edward Chadderton

Good fun. Less of an attraction more of an upscale collection of restaurant in a fun historical setting. Great place to have lunch with a group of friends or family while in Cavendish

Bob Bryant

A wonderful adventure for the whole family. Everything Anne of Green Gables. Cow's ice cream, chocolate house, food, pizza to lobster rolls. Very clean. Admission is free.

Jessica Trebing

Visited during the May long weekend and nothing had opened yet, but we appreciated being able to walk around anyway. It's nice that admission is now free, and all the shops and restaurants are private businesses rather than part of a tourist attraction.

Allie Moore

Cute shops, very touristy. Worth visiting if you're in the area but I'm not sure it's worth a special trip. Lots of parking, the food options are on the expensive side ($15 for most lunch options) but there are some cute artsy shops that are fun to check out.

April Schrader

Disappointing, was better before it completely sold out to consumerism. Took kids hoping to have similar experience to what I had years earlier but found the schoolhouse had become a gift shop and the old church a burger joint. Really took the authenticity out of it. Seemed more like an Avonlea shaped mall.

Helmi Yousif

Nice village have good variety of food types. But it closes very early it would be good if they can extend the working hours.

Alex Al

Really small place to visit. You'd rather go there on lunchtime so you can eat. Pizza place was big and clean. Pizza's were tasty.

Lorine Houde

Nice walk through and then coffee and treats at Samuel's. Very enjoyable ????

Lester Jacobs

Mostly just tourist trap. The "village" is just a bunch of small stores and fast food places with none of the ambiance I expected. I think they can do more with this concept (people dressed I period clothing, etc)

Olga Onegina

Very nice decorated place! Lovely place with rest zone, food court, famous Icecream! ???? I tasted potatoes in chocolate for the first time there! And it's amazing!

Alison Daly

It's not the same as when it was an old fashion village with the little plays and people in character. Now it's all eateries and shops. I can't believe they put a boom burger in the church. It is a very disappointing place to go now. Not worth the time to stop there. Sorry, but it's been ruined and commercialized.

Trevor Savory

We had a great time at Avonlea Village - we stopped in to Moo Moo Grilled Cheese for some supper and had some of the best sandwiches. Mine was a Bacon Mac & Cheese Grilled Cheese

Gordon Veitch

Lots of great places to eat and eclectic shops. The buildings are cute and feature great architecture and exterior spaces. However, we found the pricing overpriced. $18 for one lobster roll. $3.25 for a single donut. If you want to take your family here be prepared to pay.

Paul Bruce

Great collection of shops and places to eat.

Karen Snow

Touristy but many nice things. Ice cream available. Grilled cheese specialty restaurant as well as burger place and a couple of other full meal restaurants.

Sarah

Very cheap and tacky and not worth the visit if you're looking for an "Anne of Green Gables" experience. There's some overpriced food and souvenirs you can get anywhere. This was the only place that really disappointed us on the island so would've been happy to give it a miss.

Fabien K.

It's a little small but it helps visualizing how Avonlea would have looked liked. The shops and restaurants have their own charm and it is worth it if you want to buy souvenirs or Anne of Green Gables books or merchandises.

Josh Campbell

Great spot to stop on your PEI road trip to grab some lunch. Plenty of options and outdoor seating to enjoy the great PEI weather. Be prepared to wait in line a bit depending on which restaurant you pick as this is a popular spot than can get busy.

Ray Engram

Great food and very nice place to stop and eat and do a little shopping

Mark

This is a challenge to review. Hard NOT to compare it to how it used to be. We used to go early in the morning PAY to enter and enjoy a day's activates with staff in period costume walking you through an exciting day in what one could imagine was a day in the world of Anne of Green Gables. But that was then. NOW it is FREE , that is upside. There are some interesting restaurant choices and a shop or two. So as far as a place to stop and browse some shops. It is really like reviewing a mall. We Did LOVE the music show that continued from the 'old' set up. Instead of being included in the entrance fee, now they charge a very reasonable fee for nearly an hour of music. We enjoyed that very much, Mike Pendergast and Leon Gallant are so talented and personable. We enjoyed being able to get a taste of their music at such a reasonable cost and in such an intimate environment. I do hope that will continue and wish I could review that part of the experience separately , as it would get 5 stars !!

Melanie Sonier

Great place to eat and shop! Reallu cute!!

BuffyAbric Abric

It is a huge change, I haven't been there in a few years, it has all sorts shops and little restaurants and cafés ❤ Must see

Oleksii Lugovyi

Great location and choice to eat when travelling PEI

Glen Fry

Had a Cow's ice cream and Boomburger hamburger with fresh PEI fries..,.. both delicious h

Maggie White

Such a sweet little place. Not everything was open but I got some preserves & chocolates at Anne's shop

Matvei Kruglyak

A number of stores, restaurants and ice cream bars framed into a cute village.

Louise Reid

So disappointed in all the changes here. I can see that money talks and they are more interested in being the place to eat than the place where families could come year after year to make memories with each other. Judging by the half empty parking lot during high season I'm not the only one who feels this.

Nury Lopez

Very nice small village that you have to visit in PEI for take a food, good variety of restaurants, nice shops with local products, nice sitting areas.

R M

I wouldn't say its much of a tourist attraction anymore, it used to hold live action play type scenarios but that has been forgotten and replaced with a few restaurants and random shops. It is a cute place to go eat but again, I wouldn't consider it an attraction

Jonathan Aubin

Where is all the characters Last time we where here with our kids there was characters, singing, dancing and alot of stuff for kids Now it is vendors and food you guys ruined it and a burger spot in a heritage church not very good at all

Albert Martin

Great food and atmosphere. Lots of food options. I had a great grill cheese at Moo's. I have eaten at Booms as well and it is very good.

Thomas Thomas Aro

A great place to visit for a trip down memory lane or Canadian village history of the featured television village. Nice preserved features such as the wooden sidewalks. Primarily gift shops, restaurants, chocolate and I dream spots. A great stop for pictures, snack or lunch.

Greg Sparling

Nice to walk around. Ate a good lobster roll at Dave's and ice cream at Cow's. History of church moving & photos was neat to see. Not really a lot there that interested us but was free to park and walk around. Some shops may be more interesting to others.

Dianne McIsaac

It was just ok The day I went only a few places opened.

Robert McGuire

Enjoyable but pouring rain dampened the experience. Enjoyed the Green Gables settlement far more. Restaurants need a few more salads please.

Jonathan Sampson

Fun little place... but only when in season and if you're looking for a bite to eat or shopping. I was hoping to get more historical stuff but it was more geared to eating and gift shops.

Dave Hamilton

Mini Upper Canada Village....but expanding. Looks like lots of family entertainment.

Wanda Bryks

We just stopped in for the museum. Wish we could have stayed kinder to enjoy it all. They have amusement parks and so much more. Will definitely go back. Its can be a whole day just there. It was a very cool place to visit. So peaceful.

Brenda S

The Avonlea Village is a must see spot when visiting the Cavendish area. The village has cute shops, a few places to eat and sit. The Cows icecream is very good, they provide lots of flavours to choose from and is very delicious.

Nancy Burlock

Very disappointed. Not sure what age group you are targeting. Gift shops the same as the rest of the IsIand!!. Is is necessary to charge $5.95 for a hot dog; and $6.95 for a grilled sandwich. Parents beware. $5.00 for children's show and $5.00 for pony ride. Will not be back!!

Jim A

Love the little art store. Will go back.

smittyleafs

A small collection of local shops and eateries. Worth maybe an hour of your time.

Robert Boyce

Very disappointed with the new Avonlea Village. No charge to get in because all the building are now commercial building selling every thing you could think of. No more people dressed in period costumes, the school is now a store as is all the other building. I took my 4 grandchildren there and only spend about a 1/2 hour walking about. All the people I talked to were VERY disappointed too. Bring back the fun and games that made this an exciting place to take young people who remember the book.

Henhoeffer Shelley

I was extremely disappointed. I love Anne of Green Gables and this the reason I went to PEI. It is all stores and restaurants now. Not at all what I was expecting. The name needs to be changed so tourist now it is no longer the Avalon Village anymore.

Dialma Jensen

Unfortunately, unless you go during peak season, most of the restaurants and shops are closed. We went to the Boardwalk nearby instead. It was dissapointing not to be able to finish our Anne of Green Gables day at the Avonlea Village eating as we originally planned.

ted carroll

Rather expensive but the BBQ chicken pizza was amazing ????

dan fryer

Utterly disappointed! Got here a little after 6 and there's only one store open and 2 or 3 places to eat (with only one a restaurant) - certainly not the best place to eat!! Don't waste your time making the trip here

Andrea Clark

I was greatly disappointed. After reading all about this site on a Web page I was expecting to see period dressed people and workers and buildings to walk through. The only thing it was though was a trap to get you to spend way to much money. We got ice cream at cows which was good. That tasted great. We went to moo moo to eat and we spent close to 100 for 5 people to eat and get a drink. Extremely high priced. The food was ok I tried a sandwich I never would have tried elsewhere. We walked through the church and every building there and all the buildings were there for you to buy something or eat.

Matthew Logan

The village sold out to a bunch of restaurants, not like it wasn't a tourist trap before. The worst of which, Boom Burger a terrible copy of 5 Guys, set up in an old church that was transported to the site. It just feels wrong eating burgers in an old church.

France Ouellet

Cute little village with cute boutiques. The coffee place is a must.

Nice dining attraction on PEI, with the usual COWS associated restaurants and vintage houses from early island eras. The Boomburger there is in an old church and quite a neat dining experience. The Italian restaurant there has some excellent pizza selections as well

Beautiful family experience. Needs a craft brewery!

This place should really consider changing the name from Avonlea Village to something else without Avonlea in it. For those who visited Avonlea when it first opened years ago, you will be disappointed as It is no longer the charming, …

Neat place, good food but hope you got some money, she is an expensive place. The food is amazing though, try doughnuts by design it is phenomenal.

Not too kitschy/tacky, nice shops with local products. Nice variety of restaurants too. Higher-end better quality version of the Cavendish boardwalk. Not very big.

Perfect place to stop and eat or shop. Lots of fun stores and different restaurants to try like a burger bar in an old church, artisan pizzas, and lobster rolls. We stumbled on this place but were so glad we did! A must see in Cavendish area.

I agree with most of the reviews. We came to Avonlea Village as tourists a few years ago when there was so much to do and see. You could basically spend an afternoon or day there. Not much going on there anymore. You can walk around , go to a restaurant or shop at a few stores (which you can do in any of the towns in PEI) but definitely not enough to keep you interested for more than an hour. I would still go there as it is free now just to walk around and perhaps have lunch on a sunny day. It would be nice though if they changed Avonlea Village back to its former glory as I believe most people would be willing to pay.

I remember visiting this place when I was a child, place was still set like the period with actors in period dress, re-enactments in the schoolhouse, church was still intact. Now it's nothing more than another kitschy tourist trap with all the old buildings turned into overpriced restaurants and fast food. It was actually depressing to see the old heritage homes ripped up and used as knick knack shops and fast food joints. The old church had it's ceiling ripped out and is being used as a burger joint. Overall, a heart breaking experience. Nothing of Avonlea has really survived. Cavendish as a whole felt like a tourist trap with the exception of the Federally controlled beach and sand dunes. Please, I beg you, if you want anything close to an authentic experience, avoid this place.

Moo, moos has the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever. We had the PEI turkey club and the mac and cheese! Amazing.

Very lovely are with a number of craft and artisan shops, along with plenty of places to eat in a wonderfully historic area. A burger joint in an old church, an upscale Italian restaurant, grilled cheese / smoked meat, locally made ice cream, all in historic houses. A great place to stop for a bite and shop around for souvineirs

Fun place to visit, free entry, lots of Instagram worthy pics. The shops are overpriced so be prepared to pay $16 for a mediocre grilled cheese and pop but the village is so stinking cute you won't even care.
