A person could take a text file, split it into a running list of 200 characters, and count the number of complete words (either starting or ending a line, or ending in a punctuation mark or space — hmm, you’d actually want to use 201 characters to test what the last character in the set is, if it’s a letter then don’t count the word, if it’s a space or punctuation mark or end of the line, then do) in each list. Then plot out the histogram and take various univariate statistics. A peculiar but fun project if you took texts from different languages and different time periods. There are tools in python to do this. You might have a few head scratching moments about how to think about UTF-8 character sets, as they are encoded not in 8 bits but in 8 bits + 4 bits for accents, other alphabets, etc. In Chinese, otoh, there to a single semantic unit (“word”) but each logogram is in variable byte encoding (Big5, Guobiao), so, 200 1-byte (8-bit) units might translate into 150 or so logograms, giving us about 100 words in Chinese, or about 126 if you count each “character” as a single unit. The encoding of Chinese characters in Chinese, Japanese and Korean is the source of, err

Diefenbaker House is the place where the former Prime Minister and his wife lived before he moved to Ottawa. There are numerous interesting artifacts to admire. The guides know a lot about Canadian history and can share some interesting anecdotes with you. Visiting this place takes only about fifteen minutes. Entrance costs four dollars for adults or you can purchase a museum pass for ten dollars that allows you to visit all four museums in Prince Albert. Don't forget to grab a free post card while visiting.

Small museum in Prince Albert that we visited on our way to the same-named National Park. It was a nice stop and we appreciated the private tour. The price was nominal but the tour was quite informative. Thanks to the young guides who work there!
