You have all the feddbacks of real people who consumed the services and products of Willingdon Beach Campsite (Tourist Attraction) in the area close to Powell River (Canada).
At this moment this business receives a score of 4.4 out of 5 and that rating was based on 127 reviews.
As you can see it has an average rating is high, and it's based on a large number of scores, so we may think that the score is very reliable. If many people have bothered to rate when they are happy with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to place scores when these are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is classified in the category of Campground.
I actually spent the night in someone's empty camper (due to a rental emergency), and I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was out there and how peaceful it was at night. As a local, I thought that this beach would be louder due to being centrally located and being right alongside Marine Avenue, which is one of our main streets here in PR. With the lack of available rentals, I can see why this can be an alternative as opposed to renting out any other dwellings which are unfortunately not around anymore. After my first and only needed night here, I give this local beach 5 stars because of what I wrote and because this local beach has served our community events successfully for many years....thank you!
Love it here!! we come back every year
Best place to stay on the Sunshine Coast, it is located right beside the water, there is 2 shower houses in a short distance walk from the campsite. The caretakers are lovely people, very kind and considerate. Will be back again for sure!
Beautiful place. My Kids love it.
Friendly excellent service, good wifi $2.00 day per device, clean bathrooms, laundry with one washer and dryer.excellent location within a beach park, walk to town, shopping.hike through park with tree ID signs, and many pieces of traditional logging Equipment displayed.watch herons, seals, humpback whales, etc, fishing and commercial traffic
Great place to camp at, clean facilities and very friendly and helpful caretakers. One of the best campsites I have stayed at.
Like so many campgrounds, it all depends on your site. Some of the sites on the beach were fantastic but didn't seem to have full hookups. We had a site high above the water with views of the sea through the trees, plus a full hookup, so we really liked our spot. The place had a slightly chaotic feel, but in a familial way, like a big, happy family. Many of the sites were not particularly spacious, but I'd definitely stay here again if or when we come back to Powell River.
This campground is a good and inexpensive base camp to explor the sunshine coast. The tent sides are roomy and there are enough clean showers and toilets. The one thing not working properly was the WiFi.
This campsite has it all! There is a reason it is booked solid year after year! When my daughter, husband & 3 kids stayed here, they discovered not only full hook up, but with all amenities nearby, there was almost no reason to leave the area except for a short run for groceries! Playground, outdoor exercise circuit, a creek with giant characters to play on, a concession, mini golf & ice cream across the street, a walking trail, but most importantly, a beach, what more does one need? Highly recommend. ????
The sites are clean and it’s a great location only thing I would change is the location of the electrical outlets for the trailers They are to far to plug in easily you need to bring an extension cord.
Best place for camping in Powell River. A public playground next door, beach and great ocean views, makes this excellent full service camping site
When we booked we specified we were tenting, and got booked into a site that has a concrete floor. We couldn’t peg our tent down because of that, and then had to book a different site that we could secure our tent down on. We were charged extra for sewage even though we were tenting. Female caretaker is very rude. Only plus side was the views and proximity to town.
Well layout. Nicely located by the beach. Clean bathroom. Good pressure of warm water. $1 token for 4 minutes of hot shower (cold shower is free). There is laundry on site. Dish washing station. Some picnic tables have cover. Gated and locked bathroom to ensure that only campers are able to use the washroom. Awesome Campsite!
Very much have mixed feelings about this campground. 1st the park itself is amazing, campsites are very well laid out and maintained, facilities are very clean and maintained. But..... the service from the people who run the office.. woow! someone needs a lesson on customer service! Lady is bit rude.
Campsite is nice, not much privacy between sites. Tent sites are wide open, zero orivacy and highly sloped. Site A could not find a level spot. Facilities for laundry, showers, flush toilets, all very clean. Nice to be able to charge phones in laundry area with a little locker for your device. Managers were great, drove over ice to our site.
Sweet sunsets
Beautiful day shared with friends and family in a beautiful place. I love my community.
We stayed here for 3 nights in an RV with a small child. It is right on the beach and a fun place for the whole family. They charge for hot water ($1 for 4 minutes) and WiFi, but it’s great to have those options.
Absolutely amazing place! I would love to live in this campground all summer season!
Such a beautiful location, right on the ocean. Close enough to walk to town. A fabulous, forested, oceanside trail for peaceful walks. Can't say enough about this fabulous location. Stayed here late October and the weather was so mild that were able to enjoy campfire in the evenings.
Exceptional value for the cost. It is well maintained and large sites. Overlooks the ocean. Walking trails.
Always a joy to relax on this beach, and explore the trails around it too.
A beautiful place to camp , ocean, trails, snack shack, close to mini golf and the best ice cream in town. If you camp, there is laundry and showering facilities on site. Also a great park for kids, and summer entertainment. Walk on pier.
Absolutely fabulous braised beef on brioche bun. Fries were good too!
Even thou I am not a guest here I just had a great experience here today. My 4 year old daughter threw a walkie talkie into one of the garbage cans here they are about 10 feet deep. Even thou they are the cities responsibility Dustin the campgrounds caretaker opened it up a rwtreived the thing from 10 feet down. Thanks Dustin
The campsite’s equipment is very good, but the management is a bit messy. I booked to see the sea view unit, but it was full. I can only book the unit that can’t see the sea view but still charge CAD44 for the sea view unit, but I can’t see the sea view. I can only see people looking at the sea view. I didn't care about it with the administrator, I just thought it was unreasonable, and they didn't issue me a receipt.
I wrote a good review yesterday and gave a 4, but a couple things dropped it down. They have very bright street lights around the property. Great if you forgot your flashlight, but sleeping with that orange light was not comfortable. The other thing was their wood. 8 bucks gets you a large tote, which is good, but some of it was construction waste soaked with chemicals and NAILS!
Beautiful ocean side campground
On our conversation over the phone, they said 6 person / up to 2 car per campsite. We as a group (14 of us) figured out that 4 adults and 2 kids are okay as specified by a nice sweet lady on the other line. After we took 2 ferries and over 170km, it's a different story.. it's 2 adult and 4 kids per campsite and only 1 car allowed.. and the nice sweet lady before became an ogre.. the place is below okay.. most campsite are on a "slightly slope".. figure that out.. washroom is okay, tho you have to pay $1 per 4 minute on hot water.. and terrible, terrible, rude customer service.. we would never ever coming to this place again.. I'm not a paid reviewer, do not come here. go to inland lake instead to experience a "real camping"...
Absolutely the grouchiest lady I have ever dealt with in any industry. She was rude, and actually tried to belittle me. I can't under why she would even do this job. We were on a business trip and health orders were lifted. I talked to other people who stopped there and they told me the exact thing!! Stay away from this terrible person. Its not worth being anywhere near her
Great campsite for enjoying beach as well as forest. Outdoor Kids play area, adult exercise area, a mini golf nearby, sufficient hot water, clean and organized laundry and bathroom.
Beautiful! Vehicle-Accessible campsites right on the beach. A beautiful scene. Also, I found the campground very quiet and peaceful.... and, very reasonably priced: including extras like firewood and ice. I recommend Willington Beach Campsite to anybody traveling The Sunshine Coast.
Tracey and Dustin are amazing hosts. The sites are big and everything is clean
Really upset with the service from the campground. There were vacant spots, we arrived at 10:30pm. By text the lady said she could check us in and it wasn’t a problem. She met us at the office, we mentioned we were from Alberta and she told us to leave the premises and that “you people caused COVID in BC.”
Coming from a tenter perspective, you pay a lot for what you get. Right next to the main road, so it's quite loud when engine breaks are engaged. You also have to pay for showers and wifi on top of it. Great place for RV campers though. Great views, next to the park and beach. Facilities are also very clean.
We had the pleasure of camping here on a few occasions this summer in our truck camper. The hosts were kind, courteous and professional in all of our interactions. The sites were clean and well taken cared for. The washrooms and laundry facilities were in good order as well. The campground is close to hiking trails, the water, the park, the playground and the walk into town is pretty convenient. All in all we had a wonderful experience and we look forward to the opportunity of visiting again soon.
Great place for camping. We had the waterfront spot. One snag they don't tell you is that you have to pay to use their shower.
Great campsite. The facilities are clean and well-equipped. I am definitely coming back. Bonus: wifi access is pretty decent and stable.
Crowded and noisy. I went there in 2015. The water tab of the sink is a "spring tab", once you release it, it goes back to off position, how am I supposed to wash the dishes with one hand holding the tab? . Not worth the pay at all. I strongly recommend Salter Bay provincial campground.
Great park and beach to spend with the family. There's a small water park for the kids and to keep cool in the hot summer months. Sandy beaches, volleyball nets, ocean swimming, playground, beautiful trails, camping and amenities close by, just to name a few desirable things about this location. Beautiful sunsets here
What a great campsite. We lucked out and got a site without a reservation on a long weekend due to a last-minute cancellation. I can see why this place is so popular! The location can’t be beat - it’s just off the “main drag” of Powell River (Marine) and right by the water. The neighbouring park is beautiful and features a sandy beach, volleyball nets, playground, and splash pad. The campground itself doesn’t have many private sites but it’s what I’d call “a non-camper’s campground”. If someone doesn’t like camping, bring them here and they’ll quickly change their opinion! Clean washrooms, hot showers ($1 for 4 minutes, very reasonable), laundry facilities, a community cooking area with BBQ, dish washing areas, drinkable water, and even wifi (which was surprisingly good quality!). We lucked out and got a site with a covered picnic table, which was great for a rainy night. The caretakers are very friendly and great to deal with. All this with access to the aforementioned park and a nice trail system. It’s a great “home base” for your time on the northern Sunshine Coast.
Such an amazing Campsite!! As we're all travelling within BC this year and a lot of provincial parks have been fully booked, we were trying to find somewhere to adventure and we totally lucked out with this one! Tracy was amazing and got back to me right away via email when we were booking last minute. Check in was a breeze and this site provides everything that you could ever need while camping! Ice and firewood hand delivered to your site, laundry facilities and fantastic bathrooms/shower facilities. There were multiple locations with showers so that you never had to wait :) Not to mention the location!! Right on Willingdon beach and proximal to town so that you can access groceries, coffee, restaurants, etc. Would be great for family camping as there is a playground, splash pad by the beach as well as beach volleyball courts for some sporting fun. The beach trail and outdoor gym were great to get a run and workout in in the morning. 10/10 would recommend. I know I'll be coming back for years to come.
Very nice place to visit , it also has great hiking trails .
Been trying to book there for a couple days... No one answers the phone, they did finally respond to an email, although still managing to avoid offering anything helpful. Apparently it's classified information as to whether or not they have any space available. Their website asks for all your personal information and credit card for an availability request... Seems sketchy. Thankfully other places nearby answer their phones & offer plenty of information, no credit card required.
As a single woman camping alone for one night before friends joined, I was so thankful at how Tracy and Dustin were so inviting. This was a fantastic stay, I would give the campground and overall a 10 stars, the bathrooms were very clean, showers, Wifi, and laundry.Registration was easy and very welcoming! Thank you Tracy and Dustin for also accommodating us in changing campsites. The campgrounds are near to restaurants, we ate at Coastal Cookery and had an amazing meal! This is a great campsite run by an awesome couple, thank you both!
Great camp ground. Well maintained. Paid WiFi but worth it. Right on the beach. Water park, outdoor exercise within a minutes walk. Good food a 10 min walk away. If your kids play Pokémon Go two gyms and lots of stops near the campground and on the trail.
Great campground and park. Very clean, quiet, private sites and all sites regularly visited by staff to check on cleanliness and camper needs. Thanks for a wonderful third visit!
Beautiful campground. Very reasonable prices, clean and well kept facilities.
The campsite is well taken care of, with clean areas and bathrooms. Close enough to walk to town, the beach, water park, ice cream or mini golf. Did see some whales just off shore as they went through. Staff is friendly and accomadating and works all the time. Never did I see them chilling. Good job!!! You have to try the mini golf across the street. Fantastic!!!
The location and campgrounds are great. Management not so much. Had family unexpectedly come to town they needed a camping spot. I went down to the office and was told they had no openings for the whole summer. My niece goes on line emails them and gets a spot. Then when I went to visit them at there site I counted 5 empty sites and that was just in the bottom area. So what the hell. Very disappointed in management.
Playground for kids, sandy beach, canteen, dock for fishing, mini golf across the road.
Clean and near everything. The view is excellent perfect for family with kids.
The campsite itself is nice but customer service is terrible. We were overcharged both nights and when we confronted the lady in office about the overcharges we were lied to and told there were no sites available without power and water that would fit our car, we have an SUV with a rooftop tent and our second night we were on an unserviced site so can't see how that could possibly be true, especially considering its dead season. We only managed to get refunded for one of the nights and she did so begrudgingly.
You are at the hub of the sunshine Coast with festivals and great food
Superb location, very helpful owner, great for kids of all ages.
Lovely setting in shady trees, right next to a very pleasant beach and playground. Walk straight onto the trails. Inexpensive for what you get. Remember the showers require tokens, purchased at the office.
I would give it 5 stars if I didn’t get eaten alive by mosquitos and there were a lot of moths and public guests walking through our campsite all day and all night long! People pass by when you’re sleeping and they are so loud and play loud music between 1-4am!
Not much parking, but a beautiful beach
right by the beach. family friendly.close to downtown and all the travel spot. right beside park.kids spend lots of time in the creek and tide pool.$1 for 4min shower sucks, they could just build into campsite charge.
Great location, walking distance to town and trails. Showers $4, but hot and clean. Also a laundry room. However, the key given only opens the door to nearest restroom; ours with only one toilet, along with the 3 showers. Little privacy in campsites, close to each other and open forest setting. Very bright street light right at our campsite, disturbed our sleep. Could use more patrolling -- bathroom out of TP one morning; campers with campfire 2 nights (though "Campfire Ban" signs obvious). All in all, a very convenient campground. Pleasant enough, especially if you have a toilet in your camper and can close shades. Got our laundry done! Perfect for watching sunsets.
One of the best sunsets i've ever seen
Gorgeous place to hangout with the kiddos
Absolutely love this little community. Beautiful camp ground along the ocean.
Their reservation process is terrible. Their website indicated the midweek dates we wanted weren't full, so we put in a reservation request. Got an email saying they had received our request, but would confirm at a later time. They didn't get back to us until 3 weeks later, literally on the day of our requested reservation, saying they couldn't do a reservation for us. They also didn't respond to our call or email about a week and a half in, checking in on the status, as we were trying to figure out if we needed to make alternate plans. Pretty garbage process they have.
Nice views and well layed out from what ive seen but i have never actually camped there. But very close to all amenities! Best location for a campground that ive ever seen
Reasonably cared for, a bit too near highway. Great proximity to Willingdon beach park, mini golf, marine Avenue ????
Reservations are a bit frustrating but the sites are set up well, location is great and the washrooms were clean, what more do you need?
Little pier for kids to fish from, spray park, playground, beautiful swimming beach and good icecream
24$/night for a tent. Camp sites are rather small and you have to expect low privacy and people crossing your site when going to the bathrooms. Clean bathrooms. Coin operated shower (1$/4 minutes) and laundry. WiFi is 2$/day/device and we were not told so, so we said “yes” when we were asked if we wanted WiFi codes , and asked for reimbursement after having been charged 8$... Operators are not very friendly though. Calm at night, direct access to beach trail and beach. 15-min walk from ferry terminal and small shops.
Stopped in for some photos of the pier. Amazing view and good ice cream . You could paddle board there . Also a water park for kids
