REVIEWS OF Mud Lake Conservation Area IN Port Colborne

The_Morrigan Qjx

is OK needs more work it look like not a great place, a little more care

Nathaniel Heppell

Very nice place to walk and take the dogs

Pamela Boese

It is a conservation area with 3 trails of different lengths around a shallow lake that various water birds inhabit. Bring your camera for some long shots. On rainy days have your rubber boots ready. My pictures were only taken with my tablet which wasn't great for getting good shots of the birds swimming on the lake. Not a wheelchaír friendly hike.

Carlton Todd

Great for easy hikes and walking dogs... lake is somewhat accessible for fishing also. Would recommend for hiking beginers :)

Crystal Fisher

Nice trails, have been taking the kids for short afternoon hikes. Think we'll try the longer blue trail soon.

Brad Jackson

Sean Rolph

Fantastic walking trail! Best to go in the fall/winter as it can get pretty heavy with growth, and have plenty of ticks and mosquitoes.

Carol Anderson

Jason Hemauer

Ben Martinez

Nice loop 3.5kms, not a lot to see but enjoyable, easy access to the Welland canal in the back part of the loop, easy walk, flat single track terrain.

Ivan Frey (Ivan Avery Frey)

Got lost because one of the route markers was busted and lieing on the ground.

Fabien Dupont-Mattar

Not really impressed on first impression. Partly our fault because we weren't really dressed for hiking through there, weren't prepared for ticks and muddy trails.

Any conservation area???? deserves 5 stars, even underwhelming ones.???? ???? Anyways, it's kind of a small muddy lake. ????????‍♂️???? Actually they should have just called it... Mud La... OoOoOoh.. hopefully noone got paid for naming that. Salvaging fact: there's a quasi-related, good musical reference: Portishead????My Name is Mud????????????????

Always stopping in for a great hike ! This path is very well kept up and clean. Some hikers take advantage but we are always making sure to leave only our footprints when we leave. So much nature to view and look for, a really great place to bring the kids and family for an afternoon nature hike to explore what mother nature has to offer.

Heather Van luttikhuisen

John Gandza

Nice and muddy!

Jacqueline Speck

This spot is great for fall and winter walks! I can't wait to go back and take more pictures and try different trails. Hidden gem.

unmaintained, so many burrs, hardly any trail to follow once you get about 5 minutes in. Nothing telling you where to go. Come out all scratched up from the sharp bushes. Worst trail ever.

Sophie Lafrance

Small and cute, has nice paths (could use renovating) and benches available.

Anees Shehroze

Pretty good

Lance S

Mosquito, poison ivy, and burr infested need I say more. The ministry needs to walk and assess their trails. Not pay a bunch of kids to drive around in trucks. Get to work.

Muddy

Seth Reker

One of my favorite places to hike in the Niagara Region. Just make sure to bring boots if it's rained. ????

Jason Michaud

5km loop. Great for a quick hike

Dave Bowers

Caleb Booker

An important nature preserve, but not the most fun hike. You walk a very long "hallway" of greenery with little to see except for a small stretch with a view of the pond/lake. Interesting if you're into horticulture and want to see a slightly unusual natural environment for the Niagara region, but really there are plenty if nicer places to hike.

Troy Roberts

Just a small, muddy path around a large pond. But it's a fun walk, with plenty of wildlife for the kids to look at.

Lucy Gutierrez

Cody Brooks

Quack quack quack - cut 'em - boom boom boom and ducks down ???? the duck blinds here could use a little TLC but otherwise, fun place to hunt, hike etc

sethb broughton

Should be more maintained. Like the trees should be taken care of. Cut if needed but all in all it's a nice walk if you can find which path your on

Later Peter

Trail network with access to canal (paved) walkway.

Brian Daigle

Bike riding this area is a great joy .

Joe S

Nice walking trails all flat no crazy inclines.

Katelyn Kustor

Peacful and beautiful

Nicole Paduch

Beautiful area and a lot of potential, but the paths have not been maintained in years and too overgrown

Barry Beck

These trails need some immediate maintenance. I was there today and and some areas are seriously overgrown. They also have to do something to stop motor cycles/Atv's from entering the trails from the canal area. They are making a mess of the east portion of the trail. The conservation authority needs to step it up when you compare Mud Lake to other locations.

Rick Geady

Took our bird loving 9 year old granddaughter here to see birds in the wild and were not disappointed. Ducks and geese abound. Trails get you around the lake and your feet stay dry. We picked up some (not much) trash that even she at 9 knew was wrong for someone to have left or dropped. A great place to see nature.

Gary Dekker

A great day for a hike around Mud Lake

Great for fishing

Megan Faherty

Kevin Purdy

Nice are to walk little muddy right know

Keith Stonier

Very easy hike, no major hills good for people of all ages. Bring boots its a muddy hike. I have heard major problems with ticks in the warmer months, can not confirm that as I have only been during the colder season.

brenda reid

The trail was an obstacle course as we tried to maneuver around all the debris blocking the paths

Angela Waldner

Relatively easy hiking on dirt trails around a marsh. Some of the trails are overgrown to the point that I turned around and at one spot I had to crawl on the ground under an overgrown tree. Easy to social distance as there was next to no one around.

David Brown

Wow it lives to its name..wear rubber boots for sure..worth it lots of fantastic trails if your wearing good footwear..

Greg Gobbi

Love the area. Thought I seen s vagrant camped out there, hopefully not that will mean I will not feel safe taking my kids there

Greg Papich

This is a wonderful place for a walk. the long trail which goes all the way around the lake is 3.2km and it's medium in difficultly. there is a shorter trail and I'm guessing it's half the length of the larger trail. you will see lots of wildlife and cross country skiing in the winter.

Sue Webel

Doris Walvius

Did the blue trail. Some 3 kms+ well maintained and very pleasant.

Siska Fox

Nice nature walk, couple of benches along the way

Cheryl Lynn
