They make their own cheeses from sheep's milk and pair it with their wines

I have been to this winery before and was quite impressed by both the wine and cheese products. This past weekend I was able to take 16 of my best friends on a tour of the County for my 60th birthday and get everyone introduced to this little gem. Glen this an amazing job with the group, took good time to explain both the wine and cheese products; and everyone seemed very pleased with our "accueil". I live not far and will def. keep going back to enjoy and supply myself with his great products. A must do in the County.

Wow!!! That’s all I can say. Great selection of wines. Really enjoyed the tasting experience and so excited to crack open the bottles we purchased when we get back home. A must visit in the county!

Jay Fitzsimmons

Great service - small operation off the beaten path. Not just wine - fantastic cheese too! They'll be expanding in 2019/2020 so hopefully they'll produce enough wine to meet their demand (they sell out of reds quickly).

Jordan G

Really enjoyed tasting wines matched with in-house made cheeses. Great pairings. Tasting room isn't polished, it's part of the production area. Vicky who served was nice and knowledgable.

Kristy Chown

Cheeses were overpriced for our family budget but delicious. There isn't really a seating area and its very much a walk up, taste and go kind of deal but it was the ome winery in all of PEC where I loved all the wines and the cheese pairings were awesome.

Shaina Fournier

We stumbled upon Lighthall after visiting another winery nearby and it ended up being my and my husband's favorite of the whole weekend. The wines are well priced and totally stood out in quality and taste among the others we tried over the weekend. The wine maker clearly has a knack for his craft! Service was awesome and friendly and the cheese is exceptional. Wine tastings are by appointment only. All around this place is a can't miss when visiting the PEC. Thank you to the team for working hard to make the adjustments to safely allow for our visits again during the Covid 19 summer.

UPDATE: 8/11/2019. The staff here are still amazing, and we love the cheeses they make SO much, as well as their wines. Do not miss the feta, or their Progression bubbles. We couldn't leave without buying a few wines and some cheeses! We had a great time at this winery today. The wines are excellent, and the people are absolutely great and fun. Took some home!

You have to visit Lighthall if you are in PEC! They had a great reservation-based tasting setup when we visited, everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. The wines were fantastic -- we especially enjoyed their sippable pinot noir and sparkling rose (which is usually NOT one I like at all!), plus they make delicious sheeps milk cheese on site that was out of this world good. Highly recommend!

Erica Carvalho

Came here for wine and cheese tasting and it was superb! The wine was good but the cheese was amazing! The pairs were done so well and all these cheese was delicious. The staff was super friendly and helpful! Would definitely recommend Lighthall to anyone who is a fan of wine and cheeses!

Michael Szadurski

Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. Their wines and cheeses were some of the best we tried in PEC.

Henry Troup

Outdoor standup tasting with cheeses. Progression sparkling is a classic

Dave Belluz

Poor customer service. They looked like they are over their heads and not able to handle any volume of people. Looks like they are more a cheese place than wine place.

Erica Ren

Excellent selection of wine and cheese. Great service and best winery in PEC!

Blair Falconer

Absolutely stellar wines and a casual outdoor tasting bar. And now with food from Sand & Pearl!

Franck Boulbes

This place is apart from the rest of PEC, both in geography and wines. It's so good they are out of stock with no marketing of fancy installations. They were kind enough to open a Chardonnay of their own stock to make me try the new vintage. I was lucky enough 4 years ago to stop randomly and try my first PEC wine there, from that moment I'm in love with the products, the people and the place. It's just damn good!

Visited this winery on Saturday, Sept 8th with my fiancee and our friends from work, on a group tour. Fantastic wines, such a great setup/display and great staff. We had fun here and enjoyed this winery the most, of the six that we visited that day. Absolutely worth the drive! Many thanks!

Reza Shaffaf

What a fantastic tasting experience. Not only did we try wines but (surprise) they make cheese as well and paired perfectly with each wine. Staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable.

Alexander Zygmunt

Booking was straightforward and simple. Had cheese+wine tasting for 2 for $20. Location was easy enough to find, sufficient parking for the amount of people expected due to COVID regulations. The woman serving us was very friendly and knowledgeable. Wines were delicious, and cheese pairings were perfect. Ended up buying a couple of wine and cheese selections to take home. Due to the Plexiglas shields and other tasting stations close by, it was a little difficult to hear the information sometimes, but overall was very happy with the experience and would highly recommend.

Marie Leclerc

Didn’t fall in love with their wines but the experience was really worth the drive; pairing each wine with a different cheese. All delicious! The staff was also very nice and their production method for the Pinot noir is quite unique. Enjoy!

Paul Russell

Excellent sparkling wine. The goat's milk cheese they make is also fantastic. Highly recommended

Meagan Saunders

Really nice, small little vineyard. They had about 4-5 wines to taste along with sheeps milk cheeses they make onsite to pair with each wine. A tasting is $5/person and includes all wines and cheeses. The tasting fee is waived if you purchase a bottle. We took home a bottle of their sparkling white as well as their sparkling pinot noir.

Very rustic winery.... Great service and wines.. and cheese is just out of this world! (Loved cheese more than wines lol).. Loved the manchengo style cheese and feta! Very few places on the PEC that offer cheese with wines so better experience than many places. Recommended for cheese and wines! Only 2 tables every 30 mins for wine tasting so reservations are must!

Nicole Breakey

Cheese and wine tasting was an excellent value at $5 plus they are so knowledgeable!! Definitely worth driving a little out of the way.

Sanda A

I went here with my mom and had a great experience so I came back the following year with my friends. Excellent experience and came home with way too many bottles of the Progression and a package of cheese. Will be back this summer! Highly recommend!

Melanie Allen

One of my favorite stops in Prince Edward County. Not only is the winemaker behind the bar when walking in for a tasting (all of his wines are spectacular), but he also makes a cheese to pair with each of his wines. Highly recommend, do not pass this place up.

Adam Terseens

This place is what a winery should be. Hidden Gem in PEC. Their "Progression" is the best prosecco type sparkling I have ever tasted. Paired with their great sharp cheese or the milder feta. both work well. Staff was great as well. Friendly and informative. Love their logo to!

Yannick Gallerneault

Very good wine tasting experience. The staff was very knowledgeable of the wines and cheeses. Your attention is not shared, you have 1 employee dedicated to you the whole time which is awesome. Bought a bottle of their wine.

Ibrahima Fall

Good wine great cheese highly recommend!

Sebastian Apari

Great cheeses, great personnel. Take some time to visit their place and discover their wines.

Julie H

Small winery that also makes cheese. We tasted and bought a sparkling Rose along with a Manchego style cheese and a cheddar. Nice experience.

Jose Antonio Camunez

Second time I visited and the wines and cheese are the best in the PEC. Also, the service and staff are very nice and knowledgeable. Totally recommended and dont forget to try the Manchego Cheese.

Kevin T

Delicious wine and friendly staff! Highly reccomend.

Teri Wannamaker

We had the pleasure of enjoying a tasting here on my bachelorette. The service with Glen was fantastic! Their progression sparkling is so good! The sheepsmilk cheeses were perfection!!

Sherlyn Keddie

An outstanding experience to say in the least. We arrived 2 minutes before closing on July 25th and were graciously welcomed. There is no pretension in this winery. They are there to present their excellent product: both wine and cheeses are paired beautifully. There are no tourist trappings here. Grapes are from the County, and the wine is of exceptional quality despite the moderate price. I would have paid doubled what they were asking for their bottles. Cheeses were phenomenal. Suffice to say, we tried three wines and cheeses, and bought all of them. Although it was past closing time, we were made to feel relaxed and in no rush. If you have to wait for service, be patient as it is soooo worth it!

Diana B

Such an adorable winery and the owner was so sweet and welcoming! We had 3 wine tastings which were accompanied by cheese and the experience was amazing. Especially loved the Riesling and the sheep milk cheddar. Will be back! In fact I am going back again today and getting more cheese!

Deirdre Chalmers

A great experience. Lovely wines and cheeses. After my first visit I returned with friends and family. We had our tasting from the owner/vintner himself, who is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about his work. I read a comment from someone else about waiting in line. It is possible this might happen. It is a small operation and doesn't have a grand tasting room like some other vineyards, but it more than makes up for this by the quality of the products and information.

Mountain Road

Chris was a fantastic storyteller of wine and cheeses from Lighthall Vineyards. He was great at accommodating a virtual tasting for us and made this a very special event. The brie cheese and sparkling were top notch. Very high quality. Highly recommend!

Celine Legret

All of their products are amazing, cheese and wines are equally impressive. If our budget allowed we would have gotten one of everything. Our host, the owner, was very friendly and we will be happy to be back here on our next visit.

roya rousta

As everyone said, both wine and cheese that were offered, were amazing. I definitely recommend their mancego cheese and Reisling wine. We tasted it there, bought them and had them in our room at night; went back next day, bought couple of bottles again and now that we’re locked down at home, I am regretting why I didn’t buy at least a case of it.

caroline manetta

They were impatient, served wine in plastic glasses and the ambiance was lacking...considering its off the path location

Jessica Hobin

We went to many wineries on our trip to PEC and we enjoyed lighthall the most. You get to taste their cheese as well as their wine, they grow their own grapes, and their prices are super reasonable. Glen was immensely knowledgable and their covid “restrictions” made everything very safe. Please note that you have to book in advance for tastings so they can keep everyone safe and distanced :) definitely worth the 2 minutes of extra “work” to book online!

E. Painter

Wonderful tasting experience. Great variety of wines and cheese, and the lady who walked us through our tasting was very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and the area. They have lots of measures added for Covid safety. Highly recommend.

Jesse Dewal

Wine was good. Coustomer service was very poor, we were made to feel as if we were bothering the staff because we wanted a tasting.

brynn bennett

owner was on site. host provided delicious cheeses with each of 4 samples of wine. even provided cheese samples to our 5 year old at no charge. very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. will be back

Dawn Elliott

Very knowledgeable and friendly. Wonderful wines and cheese

Karen Nichols

Beautiful cheeses and wines paired perfectly. Lovely experience with staff and not commercialized all local. Will revisit for sure!

Crissy N

Cute little vineyard in PEC. For $5 per person you get three tiny tastings and three small pieces of cheese. I didn’t really appreciate the set up of the tasting though. There was No where to sit and you’re just standing by the bar. Just be prepared to stand! They’re pretty good at sanitizing they tasting stalls between appointments though so additional star rating for safety precautions. Make sure you book and pay online for a tasting reservation! I saw the staff loudly turn away walk-ins.

Gary Allen

Tremendous wine / cheese maker. A little out of the way but so worth it. This is a top 3 spot for us in the County. Such wonderful wines and cheeses. Keep up the great work! We will be back!

Elizabeth White

Amazing winery! A must visit. The wine was fantastic, and they make their own Sheep's milk cheeses, which were out of this world delicious. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Will definitely return!

Lighthall Vineyards has become one of the only essential stops in my Prince Edward County wine trips which i have been doing for the past decade or so. While the rest of the county seems to be busy trying to cash in on bachelorette parties Glen has been working away in the Quonset hut producing some of the best wines in the county. Lighthall is one of the last places where you will likely get to taste from the actual wine maker and he is happy to talk your ear off about the finer details of wine making, or just let the wine speak for itself. If you are lucky he will also have his exquisite cheese available that are made specifically to be paired with his wines. I never leave Lighthall empty handed, typically several bottles of Progression (sparkling) and if I am lucky a tub of feta as well.

Poor service is an understatement as there was zero service. We waited in "line" to taste wine behind a small group of 4 people. The staff behind the desk did not greet or even acknowledge our existence after standing there for quite some time. A simple "be with you shortly" would have been all it took. Sadly, we decided to leave as it was clear we would not be getting a tasting any time soon. This first and last visit was extremely disappointing. 2019 UPDATE: We were convinced to return at the recommendation of friends. We had the great opportunity to do a flight with Glenn who was a wonderful host. It was extremely busy this time around. There was a group behind us and Glenn recognized the group saying hello and he would be with them shortly. We smiled. The wine was excellent. The cheese excellent. The original review will remain, because I believe it is important to see progress. I have adjusted my review to 5 stars. Excellent wine, host and atmosphere this time around. Highly recommended.

Gillian Carson

Friendly service and love the new tasting room! Great wine and cheese.

Rebecca Brooke

One of the best vineyards in the county. Grapes grown on the property and cheese made in house. Loved the pinot.

April H

One of our favourite wineries during a trip to PEC. My boyfriend and I were blown away by the approachable, generous service and the homemade (delicious) cheeses as well as the lovely wines. Super reasonable tasting pricing as well. Be prepared to leave with a bottle!

Mel __

Great small Winery that makes wine as well as cheese! The tasting was very educational. You must pre-book online ahead of time for the tasting on their website. It's about $5 for a wine and cheese pairing tasting.

Fawaz

Tasty wine but small setup on site. Also make sure to book ahead or you won’t get to do tastings.

William M

Excellent wines. Probably some of the best in the county. Staff is super friendly and professional. Service in both french and english. Just awesome!

Lynne Beech

Off the beaten track a bit but worth the drive. Do wine tasting and cheese pairing. All cheeses produced on site.

Finola McManus

We got a wonderful friendly welcome today when we arrived for a tasting. Fabulous selection of wines and Lighthall also produce their own cheeses to go along with it! We purchased a wonderful feta and a delicious sparkling wine. So reasonably priced as well, I could not believe the value.
