It's amazing to see. I didn't think the cruise was worth the $30 dollar fee so I just saw the operation from land. The visitor center is worth a visit too. It has working models and great staff.

Enjoyed the trip on the cruise with our captian. We learned new things and all that stuff, we enjoyed a cruise here at Lift lock. We learned about the elevator, gates and bridges to walk to other side of the building, we loved the service we received and we hope to come back in the future.

Real neat spot to sit and watch or picnic or walk around. We came after Labour Day so the visitor center was closed. The bathrooms were open at the top of the locks which was great. Not a lot of boats coming through but saw the lock transfer twice in the 1.5 hr we were there. The operator at the top end was very engaged and came out to explain how it works and had some stuff for the kids which certainly enhanced the experience.

Very cool place to visit that you certainly don't see every day. Historic and scenic with many out of town tourists visiting all year. There's a visitors centre with many informative displays. It's also the future home of the Canadian Canoe Museum. The Liftlock sits at the beginning of more than a kilometer of beautiful waterfront park including another lock, a boat launch and two separate parks, both with beaches.

The lift locks are only operational during the summer months, but in the winter it is still something to see, when spring arrives the water levels are so low you can see the bottom. It is an amazing old structure.

This is one of 8 lift locks in the world, so it's a must see if you live in Ontario! If you really want to experience the locks, try renting a canoe like I did, or doing a local cruise coz who doesn't wanna go up & down 60 feet lol. More so, it's an engineering feat (being an engineer myself) & a good way to learn & teach your kids about some basic hydraulics in action! The park staff does a phenomenal job of explaining how the lock works, as well as keeping you entertained. Make sure you visit when the museum is open!

Great looking structure and interesting to see, but the visitors centre was closed mid-day, during the week. If you are going to do that, you should have some information panels outside to explain more about the locks (instead of the unrelated ones you did have posted about WWII and Riel).
