I took the Liftlock Cruise recently on the spur of the moment and it was totally worth it! All of the Staff very helpful and friendly and most importantly COVID-Friendly :-) ... I'm a writer doing story research and I got more than what I was expecting during the 2 hour cruise. The Captain was very knowledgeable and I spent my summers in Peterborough for years and I still learned new things :-)... highly recommend !!!

Had a great time. The captain of our boat was super knowledgeable about the area.

It was really great experience. Staff and captain were very friendly. They don't allowed you take any out side food on the cruise. 4 star because washrooms out side in the area was not good but inside cruise was good. Paid parking $1.25 per hour. Food is available just opposite side of the road Subway and pizza pizza. Really great experience ????.

Rick Bursey

Kind of disappointed with this cruise. If we had known that the lock was out of commission we would not have booked it. We spent as much time at the information centre as we did on the cruise. Next time we'll check before we book.

Informative introduction To Peterborough. Entertaining host. Worth going once but Not more.

Jackie Rayner

Very knowledgeable captain and crew, beautiful scenery ,relaxing way to see the area from the water.

????????????️????️ Cruise the world's highest liftlock!! At Peterborough Liftlock Cruise... Basically it's a huge boat. That goes up the river. Then there is a hydraulic lift that takes it up a level.. And great views to enjoy..

We prebooked our tickets over the phone and when we arrived to collect them we were informed we weren’t booked onto any of their cruises and had zero record of our booking. Thankfully they managed to ‘fit us in’ and away we sailed. Unfortunately a family on the cruise had a young child that seemed insistent on standing on the side railings hanging over the side of the boat, screeching loudly and even resorted to throwing chairs around. At no point did the staff attempt to suggest to the parents to supervise they child for the safety of the infant or other passengers. I appreciate passengers behaviour isn’t the responsibility of the staff but when the safety and enjoyment of the other passengers is suffering then maybe step in?? Might be a nice touch if staff didn’t smoke in the viewing area too or leave their cigarette burning while children are present...just saying.

The captain is very entertaining and the scenery is lovely. The seats however need to be upgraded and the cruise needs to be a bit longer.

The Liftlock cruise is a 1 - 2 hour ride vs. being a cruise and what comes to mind when one thinks of a cruise. Walking shoes are suggested if you want to look around Peterborough. Lots to do here. Bring your voice recorders/smartphones as the captain gives great historical and interesting information surrounding this ride. It's going to be a lot to take in one ride! Bring your cameras/smartphones for the beautiful scenery : ).

Very enjoyable, informative 2 hour sightseeing cruise with Captain Grant. My phone messages were returned promptly. Would take a dinner cruise once they are started up again.

Our wedding on the Liftlock Riverboat last September was a dream come true. Our guests still talk about how much they enjoyed the experience. We're often told it was the best wedding they have ever attended.

Capt. Grant Kent was very interesting to listen to. He narrated the entire trip, inclusive of history and the workings of each type of lock. It's a bit of a costly tour but I feel worth it. There was a good amount of staff on board, so staff, fuel, docking fees, lock fees, insurance etc I'm sure it's an expensive tour to run. Totally worth the 90 some odd minutes.

It was wonderful lifetime experience. *Highest liftlock inthe world* I will recomend to all to see this Heritage site, still parts are manually operated. Also on cruise and off cruise how the gates are operated and how baots are lifted. The staff super friendly and cruise captain took us into the history of Peterborough late 1800 and early 1900 when that was built. And later developlments in 20th century. Fee was 30 CAD for one adults / 3 tours per day 10 am, 1 pm and 3 pm.. better call them before, you can confirm timings... You have to reach 20 minutes before even you book with them, otherwise you may have loose the spot. Check this site for further details, Web site.. Liftlockcruises.com

We went on it a few years ago. My husband and I. We just loved it. The commentator was fabulous. So entertaining. The views, the history, it's a win win for all. Very accommodating too. It didn't seem like 2 hours, as it was well planned out by the staff. Learned lots too. Time flew by. Going again tomorrow, taking my grandson & daughter, who loves this stuff. Can't wait. All aboard. Lol. Went again, Aug 3. Jody was our commentator again. He truly is entertaining and knowledgeable. It was awesome. We took my grandson & daughter, they loved it so much too. Thanks ????

I took the Liftlock Cruise in 2000 with my Grade 5 class and loved it, remembering it as one of my favourite field trips. 20 years later and I enjoyed it as much, and it was just as I remembered. The sights, the novelty, the boat (the jokes, the stories...) were a great nostalgia trip for me. A wonderful super casual afternoon activity that you need to do when you visit Peterborough.

Very disappointed!!! We made over the phone reservation for the specific date and time. It was during Covid 19, but we were reassured that the cruise will function. We were asked to wear the masks and not to cancel. We drove 2h to get to the cruise. 2 families with kids. The place was closed. We haven't received a call, neither a message about the cancellation. I wouldn't trust this company again.

Michelle Arrowsmith

Great experience. We would highly recommend.
