A bit of of the way but worth a little 450m boardwalk around the wild orchids. Nice views too.

Anne Patenaude

One of my favourite hiking areas any time of the year.

Linda Fraser

I have never seen such beautiful orchids in the wild and here in Ontario no less! And so many!!!! We went the middle of June and the orchids were in full bloom! They don’t last long so timing is important to see these Showy Lady Slippers! So worth the drive!!!!!! Easy walk and it isn’t long! The look out is ok. Take bug spray.

Crystal Reinhard

Great trail with varying degrees of difficulty and length. I went on a week day morning and was the only one there, which was great as the trails are quite narrow. Looking forward to going back once the flowers are in bloom!

Bill Eggertson

Slippery ice on trails; could not ascend lookout point. Dying to walk it in summer.

Very good!

For a few weeks at the end of June, the shadowy Lady Slipper Orchid is in bloom here.

Beautiful

A bit late to visit so we didn't see the orchid but we had a good time walked on the trail. Not the whole place because I had a stroller with babies but we had fun anyway so good place to bring young kids for picnic and learn the nature.

Paul Berkloo

The orchids are always very beautiful to see and photograph every year.

Lovely short hike.

Nice ladyslippers, even tho the season was supposed to be over. Limited trails, but the acreage isn't large, so I guess that's all there is. Interesting ecosystem.

It's a real wonder of Ontario:) It should get the status that would allow mandatory government funding and fee collection instead of donations.

Victoria Henri

Small, but cute! We came at the very end of June, so there weren’t as many Lady’s Slipper Orchids blooming as there might have been a few weeks ago. Still a fun little walk and loved the informational signs about the wildlife along the boardwalk. Next time, I’d love to do the longer hike, but it was a little too wet the day I went!

Nice place with a few trails. Check the status of the Orchid blooms before you go there though.

Delightful Little Wilderness Jewel in Lanark Highlands My family and had come here more than once in the past 6 years mostly in the Fall. The pathways are well kept and the post signs are interesting enough (mostly to learn about their local famous orchids for which these flowers only grow during the Spring). I highly recommend this place especially in late Fall where there is almost no one around. Still would like to see the place in the Spring with all the orchids.

Very peaceful, cool and litter free with exellent information panels, and well maintained boardwalks and crushed stone trails and railings. The website said the orchids were 95% open, but most were spent. It was still a very worthwhile trip. Note to Google Maps. You have the wrong exit number for March Road!

Great site

One of the valley's best kept secrets. The orchids are in bloom from Father's day till the middle of July. The area includes a couple of picnic tables and a portalet. There's a boardwalk eventually leading to an observational gazebo overlooking Purdon lake. There are two parking lots, one scenic that leads to the gazebo and the primary one at the trailhead. There a trail around the lake that is a bit wild ie no boardwalk but just as scenic.

Ladys Slippers were not quite in bloom but the Pitcher plants were in flower. Lovely hike and outlook.

Not enough stars to adequately rate this gem in our area. Finally saw the orchids this year after many years of wanting to see them. Happy to have gotten 2 visits in for this season-amazingly diverse areas in one spot. Happened to be there early when the mosses and pitcher plants were in bloom as well as the orchids. Easy walking trails, lovely boardwalk.

Wheelchair access from lower parking lot. Boardwalk trail is accessible. Lunch area with picnic tables. Walking trail through hilly terrain with signs to lookouts. Great area to snowshoe in winter. Parking on road only in winter.

Very good trail. A little confusing about halfway through, only due to the tagged trees being fallen over, but a great hike for an afternoon!

Pitcher plant, Wild Iris, Sedge Grass, showy lady slipper orchids.

Dee Archer

A very nice walk with boardwalks and descriptive panels. It will be 5 stars in spring when the lady slippers are in blossom!
