Honour and Glory! A must visit for all Canadians that owe their freedoms to those that made the ultimate sacrifice. R.I.P.

Spectacular memorial that brings emotions to the eyes. The tomb of many who have fallen for our freedom we enjoy. Gratitude on the heart for sure. Every hour its the change of the guards which is a respected viewing to experience. Definitely check it out!

Mohit Malik

Amazing place with lots of scenic points in surrounding like rideau candal, parliament Hill top view, amazing old buildings and much more... Had great time

Robbie Mauger

Beautiful memorial to pay respect to those that fought for Canada. Their are Honour guards watching over the tomb of the unknown soldier. Changing of the guard tradition is a must see.

Scott Dixon

A pilgrimage destination that should be on the bucket list of every Canadian.

Emma Megan

It's a memorial with high gratitude. War memorial resembles all the struggles, our country has been through. It's worth visiting at least once in your lifetime. The place is clean & tidy. Nice view around the memorial.

Cunner Outdoors

It has been said, 'time heals all wounds.' I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.????

Pat Murphy

The whole city is amazing for us history buffs. It was cool seeing the honor guard walking their post at the memorial.

Brenden Jackson

It's always perfectly calm around there for most times

Amritpal Singh

It was great honour to visit this memorial and we respect the soldiers who sacrificed their lives to protect and serve the country. I got the chance when guards changes every hour.

Dez Lee

I have always wanted to visit this place, and got my chance a few days ago. Even through the piles of snow Ottawa recieved, this place is kept clean. The sky opened up and I got sunshine for a few brief moments and wow, the monument looks so stunning. A truly peaceful and refractive time, and very meaningful tribute to all whom have given this country their all. Take a moment to pause and reflect if you ever get a chance to visit. It's a very peaceful place, even though it is in the middle of downtown. Just a magnificent, personal experience.

Shlomo Levi

This still brings memories about all those who lost their lives in distance battles, and in some cases were not sure why they were there. The heat was incessant and there in a moment saw care. An officer standing by, walked up to the two posed “entries” checked them, including running his fingers behind their necks, then provided them a bottle of water with a straw inserted. At all these times, the soldiers stood still as per their duties. In memoriam.

Joshua Veres

Such a solemn and beautiful place to remember all our fallen soldiers lost throughout the years. You can't come to Ottawa without paying your respects.

Ojan Khosravifar

Worth visiting at night to see the memorial lit up and pay respects.

Ash Xie

Peaceful place, A tribute to all the fallen Canadian heros. There is a guard change ceremony every hour. It's worth experiencing that.

Sarah-Kim Boucher

I love going here and watching the dedicated members of the military honor all of the fallen soldiers.

Burnuts

Very beautiful place to visit! We were there at night and everything is lit up very nicely! Very clean and tidy! I’ve always wanted to go here on Nov 11 for the ceremony! This has such a nice view down Elgin street and the opposite when looking from Elgin. Very cool place to visit. It wasn’t busy at night at all! Pay your respects!

Will Peace

One of the world's most beautiful war memorials, stunning

Elizabeth VanValkenburg

This is an excellent viewpoint for both the fireworks on Canada Day and the beautiful architecture along Parliament Hill. It was fenced off for Canada Day, but I bet the memorial itself is also worthwhile.

B Williams

Awesome staff and displays. Flights were available for purchase in an old barnstormer biplane, a helicopter, and a Cessna. Great time!

Monica Bilodeau

Very interesting and humbling experience. Makes one think about all the lives sacrificed through the years for our freedom.

Kenji O.

Very moving, nicely set up and soldiers on site are a beautiful touch. Soldiers knowledgeable if you have any questions regarding the site. They are there from 9 to 5 switching guard every hour.

Mart AR

Tha Nacional War Memorial at the heart of Ottawa. This monument commemorates the fallen soldiers that died serving Canada at mayor conflicts and wars. At the center of the monument, 22 armed men with a decisive look on their faces. At the top, Pace and Liberty allegorical statues.

Jackie W

The detail in the sculpture is incredible. Such a sombre and contemplative piece.

Fred Regier

Honoured to be called Canadian. Very moving changing of the gaurd in light of past events in the area. Great place to reflect on all the good we have in Canada. Thank you

R. Desmond

I noticed the benches all over the place where you can sit around after the long walks, and enjoy something to drink or snacks while looking around. It's nice here. Watch the people go by and wait a bit to see some Lambos and riders go by. Rental scooters are also everywhere. Reading the little things by the statues are interesting.

Amie

Great historical site to visit while in Ottawa. Highly recommend.

KEVAL PARIKH

Well constructed. Good place to visit.

Rodney Hartley

The Guard is changed on the hour. It's a must see when in Ottawa.

Stuart Nicholl

Very powerful monument honouring our fallen men and women who paid the ultimate price for the love of their country ❤ ????????.

Daniel Blair

We watched the Canada 150 fireworks at the war memorial this year. It is a great place to check out.

RA M

Like every other attraction downtown, access is severely hampered by lack of affordable and easy parking options.

Douglas K.

Excellent Memorial. It's really neat when you look at it, see a bunch of soldiers... Then it dawns on you: they're walking away from war, not marching to it. They're done fighting. Pro tip... There are major remembrance ceremonies there on the first Sunday in May and on November 11 each year. They starta bit after 10am and are totally worth seeing.

Eric Marcel

They had the job of showing war and what happened and they did it right. It's not (only) for people who want to see guns and tanks. It's also for those who want to know about humanities history and what and how not to do again.

Adrian Dogaru

One of the most important places to visit for all Canadians (and not only). It will help understanding how and why we are who we are as well as reminding us of those who have away so much for our freedom.

Mina

Absolutely beautiful memorial, a solemn place but so well done and thoughtful. You can watch the traditional changing of the guard here if you come at the right times. Would highly recommend visiting this place at least once if you're interested in history and especially so if you may have lost a loved one in any of the wars our country has been involved in. Many think this memorial is just about WWI/WWII but it is for every Canadian that has lost their life serving our country.

Rosemary Orji

A great way to memorialize the sacrifices of men and women we lost at many wars. An amazing masterpiece.

Kyle Neiswender

Solemn reminder of war - beautiful sculpture We rode by here on our bikes and stopped to get an appreciation for the sacrifices made by the many who were lost in the many wars Canada and the US have been apart of. Sculpture work was beautiful (Vernon March) but didn't get to see the changing of the guards (got there too early?). Stop by and offer a minute to those who are gone but not forgotten.

Milton Bordignon

I loved seeing how soldiers are respected and admired here in Canada and you can see in this Memorial how both government and society treat them.

Meg Hood

I go every year after the ceremony on November 11th. It's a very good place to reflect and honor those who fought for our freedom.

Prabhakar Annadurai

A must visit place when you are in canada … Got to catch the changing of the guard which happens every hour during the summer. Also the home of the grave of the Unknown soldier. Very humbling.. and it has many benches near it to sit with the family

Tracii Baines

Impressive monument honouring those who have served our country and continue to. Watched the changing of the guard.

Chris Dacey

The National War Memorial and Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in downtown Ottawa are a must see. Two centries stand on guard daily at this beautiful and lasting memorial to all those who fought and died in defense of our very freedom. Lest We Forget

Fred Bailey

Beautiful tribute to those who fought and gave their lives so I can live a free man.

Chris Zimny

Lovely monument on Elgin. Worth the visit and fun if you get to see the changing of the guard

Kathryn Foss

After more than a year closed off for renovations, this national monument to our fallen soldiers looks amazing. It is worth a visit to admire the artistic creation and location. While here you might see the guards standing over the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Parliament Hill, Chateau Laurier, the NAC and the Rideau Canal.

Dave Swinkels

Got to catch the changing of the guard which happens every hour during the summer. Also the home of the grave of the Unknown soldier. Very humbling

Soham Nagi

Beautiful structure... One of the must visit places in Ottawa... Surrounded by various restaurants and bars... Makes you feel patriotic

Terry P. G.

A beautiful sculptured memorial to our Veterans , located in downtown Ottawa. Stunning sculpture does great justice to our armed forces past and present. Well worth seeing. The changing of the the guard is very reminiscent to England

JAIN SOJAN

Its a statue situated near parliament hill. A remembrance to great soldiers who fought for canada. Details are written over there. A place you should not miss from ottawa

Tom Uzi

I thought this place was a must see and I am glad I got to see it. It's a beautiful dedication to the fallen. Approaching the tomb was a privilege as it was being heavily guarded. Parking is a bit tough in the area. If you head a few blocks east there are public lots for parking, the private ones are a rip off. I know there is a changing of the guards that happen every day but were not able to see it.

Sinedu Dejene

You need to see it around, 360 degree of this status to have a complete appreciation.

Don Kane

What a great monument to recognize the respect of our Military - the many men and women who gave service to our country! Great night lighting!

Michael Binder

Excellent memorial to the brave men and women who sacrificed to secure our freedom. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is especially touching.

Cam Davie, CD

It is always an Honour to goto the National War Memorial to pay tribute to those that made the ultimate sacrifice during WW1, WW2, Korea, during Peacekeeping Missions and in Afghanistan. And I'm thankful to see that the Cenotaph Sentries are at their posts during the summer months. Remembrance isn't just on November 11th.

Amy Awad

This is a beautiful historic site that shouod be a a stop fir every walking tour of downtown Ottawa. There is lots of open space and seating adjacent to it. It could be a nice place to sit down with your lunch or coffee.

daniel sacchetto

If you do go (you should) i encourage to do so before 1 pm for the guard change... I have nothing else to say :)

Michael Magwood

It's a very beautiful memorable Place.

Rob Starr

I was here for the 100th Aniversary of the First World War battle at Vimy Ridge. Very moving for anyone with family history tied to Canada's. A lot of good people paid in blood for this monument and it's beautiful bronze statuary; if you are a Canadian you have to make the pilgrimage.

Narayan Kumar

It is a very serene place in the heart of the city. It's the bounden duty of a citizen to pay homage to the Unknown Soldier! I did just that!

Chris Cottrell

Good to see them back, and with added security. The troops off duty were happy to engage in brief conversation. Nice people. Also had a long chat with the tenting community behind. A good, calm debate. You may not agree with their views but they have every right to be there and made some interesting points. Be nice!! Peace out.

Richard D

This is a really nice memorial. On remembrance day, they do a big service which is quite moving to attend. On other days you can walk right up and pay your respects at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Chris G

Absolutely beautiful memorial. Humbled to be here. We can never forget our fallen. Thank you for everything you've done. I will never forget.

Eric Sevigny

I haven't been downtown in a while, so clean and upgraded. Downtown Ottawa is beautiful, the War Memorial is worth a visit, along with other highlights like Beaver Tails!

Eleanor Aboganda

Beautiful place and got a chance to watch the changing of guards! Highly recommended!

chris s

Located in front of the parliament building, it stands tribute to those who have served and are serving in representing what our nation believes in values. If you are in Ottawa you should pass by.

Mary Speed

We waited for the handover ceremony in front of the granite memorial arch with accreted bronze sculptures. We should remember the sacrifices made by Canadians who died or may die for their country.

Deitra Kimpton

A humbling memorial to those who gave their lives in service. A must see.

Khushnaz K

Very poignant....worth a visit if in downtown Ottawa, especially during the tulip festival. The changing of the guard ceremony takes place every day at around 10 am.

Bill Aitken

Very lovely and artistic display in honour of our fallen soldiers.

Nurith Rochon

An Immpresive granite memorial arch with accreted bronze sculptures built through several iterations to commamorate all Canadians who paid the ultimate price for our country. We visited the memorial on remembarance day, paid our respect and …

Ron Sanders

Excellent experience. Found that if you use panoramic setting on phone camera, and use vertically, you can obtain awesome photos.

S M

An extremely moving ,emotional place..a masterpiece paying tribute to the ultimate sacrifice made by Canadians to keep our great country free for all.Watching the changing of the guard was inspiring.Again Canada shows other countries how to honour our countrymen, past, present and future. However it was sad to see people climbing the monument to get a picture,it seems respect has become another thing that a generation is no longer taught.

Chris Williams

A must to see to appreciate. Amazing!

Christine Goddard

A valuable historic spot on a trip to Ottawa. Find out the time of the changing of the guard before going.

Ashley Wang

Nightlights on the first day of 2022

Murray Corrigan

Well worth seeing, try to get there at 10 to the hour for the changing of the Guard.

Sunny Shrm

Sobering! Salute Canadian Men & Women in Service to Protect our Great Nation!

Buck Melanoma

Beautiful tribute to our history and service persons. I like this memorial as it doesn't glorify war - it is real and emotional. I lost my brother in law this year, who was posted in Edmonton, and the second photo is his obituary.
