REVIEWS OF Parliament Hill IN Ottawa

Jo Anderson

It was awesome as usual! Such a great place to visit. All sorts of visitors from all over the world come to see the great Parliament Hill. Such a great place. Will return for sure.

Trena Laine

We had a perfect hot day to stroll, roam and enjoy Parliament Hill. Breathtaking views including the architecture, statues and plaques to read learn further history. Parliament is massive, spend hours touring and sightseeing. Understand it is under construction and the one trail came to an end so never got to further explore behind. Sundays are better than weekdays cause then you avoid traffic, rush hour and petitions that are being held. However, fun to roam and enjoy the Hill.

Benjamin Duff

Touristy but nice, impressive that you can get so close and involved to the government of Canada without hundreds of security guards, at least not visible. Pleasant part of town and close to everything else in the city

Claire008 Baldueza

It was Nice experience to come here, i enjoyed and my husband to take a picture here, you can bring your family or friends a lots of activities too, if you hungry just walk around and you'll see a lots of restaurants just don't bring your car just leave it to your hotel, book Uber or taxi then have fun ????????

Alexander Lock

Impressive looking building. When I was here it was below minus 20° Celsius and windy. It was extremely cold but as a plus there was almost no one around. It was really interesting to see the Parliament building. There was a tremendous amount of construction going on though so most of the building was walled off and inaccessible to view from the ground level. I think you can typically walk all the way around the building but the back area where the library is is blocked off by the current construction. Looking at the buildings was interesting and seeing a dozen Vans of special Parliament police presence was also interesting..? I think they were probably more PPS than there were pedestrians. I look forward to coming back here post covid times and when it's not -20. Hopefully at that time the construction is also finished.

Farhan Samin Prionta

Wonderful architecture. One of the few locations in Ottawa that you mustn't miss. I heard there are guided tours available for Parliament Hill and it makes the experience better. Maybe give that a try if you have some time to spare.

Mohit Malik

Watching the whole parliament In a glance makes u feel like u r looking at a wallpaper... It's mesmerizing and the hill view at the back gives you feeling of an amazing hill station situated at river bank... It's very scenic and beautiful...

Luke Bowlby

Great tourist destination! It's under refurbishments right now, however if you go the the back of the west block, you can get good pictures. Lots of protests happening right now, daily ones. However, they stay at the front, so the west and east blocks are good to go to. Also, there's an amazing walking trail behind the center block, great views.

Elizabeth Solley

I would highly recommend a visit. We did the tour of the Senate and that was great. Make sure you leave enough time to get through security! Due to construction, signage is a little confusing regarding where you go for a tour. We ended up missing our east block tour because we walked around forever trying to figure out where to go. We finally asked, but we were a few minutes late at that point and couldn't reschedule. The 10pm light show is fantastic. We actually went twice!

Daryl Ramer

I recommend go and the illuminating light show at the Parliament Hill. Show is on until January 6, 2022. I promise you won't regret it.

Terri-Lynn Vader

Went for a quiet walk and very much enjoyed the beautiful buildings and all the info plaques they have on Wellington St., it made for a more educational outing! I'll also say that the Parliamentary Protective Service officers were all very friendly and helpful, pointing out interesting areas and answering questions.

Matt Pineau

Great place to visit, we go there about once a month to walk around the grounds. Lots of historical treasures. If you want a guided tour you will need to be at the visitor information around 9am. If you have a group of 10 or more call in advance for booking since you can only get up to 9 tickets via walk in.

Douglas Carty

My first trip to Ottawa and I loved it beautiful ????

Teacher David de la Peña

A really incredible place to admire how beautiful Canada is. There is a tour inside the Parliament and also you can see the change of guard. It is a really unforgettable place.

Jeff Renald

It was really nice the building so wonderful, but unfortunately by the time we were there the building was under construction. So I would probably come back again mostly in the summer.

Kemith de Zoysa

Beautiful place... must visit attractions in Ottawa

Taharima Habib

We went to Parliament Hill on Family day and there was an International Ice Sculpture competition. The Center Building with the Peace tower is under restoration for the next 10 years but the New House of Commons and the temporary Senate are open for free tours. Looking forward to finally seeing the inside of the center building!!

Natarajan Ravikumar

An ok place to visit. There seems to be construction on going when it is summer. Clock chimes can be heard every 15minutes. Fire from fountain an intriguing attraction. Walk through the side of Rideau Canal towards National Gallery for great photography locations.

Ms Vee

I've visited Ottawa twice. Both times I was amazed at all the activities the Hill had. Free yoga once a week in the summers, a light show every evening too, and free tours of parliament. Yoga was beautiful to collectively do with all those people (see pic). The light show was based on the history of Canada. Made me feel very patriotic. And the tour of Parliament was so informative and interesting. I've done it twice (a year apart) and each tour is unique the the guide giving it. They determine the content. I recommend waiting in line at the end of the tour to go up the bell tower. Great views of the river from up there.

Arman

Amazing old-fashioned facade. But the renovations and building repairs didn't let us capture perfect pics

Surja Sen Das Raj

One of the best place in Ottawa ????????????????????????

Farwa Zaidi

An enjoyable afternoon spent on parliament hill surrounded by history all over. It's good for children of elementary age to visit and see the many historical effects

Maninder Rehal

Stunning architecture when seen in person. You get a distinct feeling of pride and security. I also felt a strong presence of belonging as a Canadian to my country. I will definitely come back with the family and take the tour inside.

Olinto Mendez

A place with a majestic infrastructure, the tour allows you to understand a lot of the history of this beautiful country and its traditions, a truly historical space imbued with strength, the tour is free, the staff and officers are friendly, I understand that there are other spaces under renovation that I hope to see another time.

Murat Uyar

Pictures taken from the Alexandra bridge. I think this bridge has the best view of the parliament hill while sunset. Also very nice pathway to walk or ride a bicycle. It has no bus route on it but you can drive.

Logan Edwards

Nothing was open to the public when I was in town, but walked around outside. The architecture is very nice, lots of statues. Very pleasant walk. :)

Ester V.

Beautiful atmosphere, lots of history. We didn't know there is a huge restoration all over, so it's hard to see the amazing building, but still, great city

Oscar J. Acosta

Our nation's capital... What a joy it is to walk around it's parks, public spaces and unassuming friendly streets, you can't get any more Canadian. Our Parliament building crowns Parliament Hill, where momentous decisions on our nation's future are made among beautifully maintained grass expanses, perfectly manicured trees and well kept buildings add up to a peaceful yet breathtaking view. As I walked around and took in the grounds on all its solemn and magnificent beauty, I couldn't help but reminisce and wonder with a tinge of melancholy on pre-pandemic times when we didn't need to socially distance and traveling was not restricted, and these awesome grounds were teeming with visitors both local and international. I'm certain that happier times are ahead, though it requires everybody's cooperation and involvement. May the Tower of Peace toll for all of us ????????????????

Ravi K

Visited on labor day weekend, did the tour of central block, tour guide was great, lots of information. Watched the light show in night, like the theme history of Canada. Awesome place, building itself is iconic, did the tour of peace tower as well. Lots of near by places to visit. Advise: if you need your ticket spl center block be in queue on or before 9 am on weekend, they are not closing center block until end of 2018 so take your time. We visited immediately as we were in impression they gona close in Sep 2018.

Renata Maclean

Beautiful place to visit! The mix of the historical buildings and skyscrapers make this city really great and interesting! A must to see!

sareh da

Amazingly beautiful ???????????? we wento to Ottawa for our vacation and visited Parliament hill. It’s stunning. Very clean and organized. But there was a hige construction going on so we couldn’t see inside. Highly recommended. Great views to the city.

Md. Nazmul Hoq Salim

In winter it has a different view. Please come before 9.00 am then you will be able to see inside of the perlament.

kennis d

It's beautiful and it's free. Don't miss the changing of guards during summer time and if you can get up early, line up to get tickets to visit inside. Office opens at 9am but be prepared to line up around 7am to be the first bunch. Otherwise the lineup is so long that it wraps around the next intersection. Its First come first served. Security checks does take sometimes before the guided tour to start. Be reminded the peace towel won't be accessible till 11am - wish this information is available on the website or is listed somewhere so we could have planned better. Having said that, it's worth it to go inside to experience the rich culture, politics of the country and needless to say thar the architecture is beautiful. Despite the ongoing construction, it's a beautiful view when walking behind the building overlooking the bridge connecting Ontario and Quebec.

Ahmed Shehab

This is a must visit place. I recommend you book your tour couple of weeks prior your visit as the tours are quite busy all year long. There are many important places in the tour such as the House of Commons, Senate, Parliament library, Central Block, and Memorial Chamber and the Peace Tower. Don't leave before you take the elevator all the way to the top of the Peace Tower, as the view is wonderful.

Gloria Chai

A historic place and great view to see Ottawa and Gatineau from the Peace Tower. It is a really busy place during the summer time, have to go waiting in line for the tour as early as possible.

Giwon Yun

One of my favourite places to visit in Ottawa. I could feel as if I’m in either Canada and England at the same time. It’s very lit they have historical building and skyscrapers existing together!

Shlomo Levi

Great place to visit with so much to learn about Canada. Unfortunately, as a result of the renovations ongoing, access to the building is very limited if non-existent. One still gets to take pictures of the surrounding areas and the other important buildings and museums around. It was not to crowded. Security is heavy around the place now, which is understandable.

Deep Bhakta

A very very beautiful place to visit! Worth spending your time with your loved ones and family. Disclaimer: This is going to be shut down for 10-15 years due to renovation in few weeks, so if possible go and visit this place in next week or upcoming week.

Devin Fatima

Great architecture, beautiful scenery, and a mesmerizing experience. One could walk around sightseeing for hours!

Ornella Akeza

It's simply beautiful, the buildings stand outand what's great us that the Rideau canal is close as well. I took lots of pictures .Its also great for walking and hiking

Natalia Korobenko

As a fun of heritage I can tell that this place is charming. Don't forget to take a free guided tour inside the Parliament! From the very top you'll see a beautiful 360 panoramic view of Ottawa! Very beautiful place!

Sohrab Ebrahimi

Being the most iconic landmark in the entire country you would expect a different sense of care and attention but unfortunately the federal government is doing just enough to maintain the look but in reality it needs much more than what is being given now. These are old heritage structures and the history that comes with them cannot be repeated therefore we should cherish what Memento we have left.

Mani Verma

I went on Labour Day weekend and there was the light show that was amazing. It displayed the history of Canada on the parliament walls.... oh my goodness that’s so sure beautiful and informative...,you should never miss...love it❤️❤️

Gary K

Definitely a beautiful place to visit and explore.

Keyvin liu

Good view! Wonderful place for visiting and relaxing!

Peter Young

We had a great time exploring the exterior of the buildings as they were closed for renovations. Great views of Gatineau and steps leading down to the water front at the back.

B M Adnan

This entire area is different, seeing the buildings will make you feel, you are in old time. Full of history. And the way this area is preserved and managed is really nice. Though restoration is in progress in some of the buildings, we couldn’t see through all. Must visit area in Ottawa and for Canadian history.

Mueed Fiaz

Stunning, inside and out, and a great place to learn about Canadian history. The light show in the summer is cool.

Donald Polak

Classic architecture and lots of history. Canada's capital is a place everyone should see. Always something going on. Always something to see and best of all, like the rest of Canada, always safe.

Cynthia Padilla

Love ❤️ walking ????‍♀️ here at ????Wellington St by the Parliament everyday Vibrant atmosphere, lots of tourist with their families or friends

Randy D

Ontario capital, a must see for architectural lovers! Great statues, great grounds!

MG Hinlayagan

It was Sunday when we visited the Parliament House. They have a free tour ticket provided. You can get the free ticket in the opposite side of the road of the Parliament House. You can see the big signage of it. They have different time schedules for the tour in English and in French. Sunday is the best day to visit so you can see everything. It was a great experience. Our tour guide also was good. Getting inside the Parliament House is like getting inside the embassy. Tight security. They have also specific size of bag to bring inside the building but don't worry they have a baggage counter where you can leave your bag. I recommend this activity if you will visit Ottawa City.

Grant Mihalcheon

Beautiful warm fall day. Was surprised to see all the construction... The cranes kinda killed the photos... Lol

SiJen

Worth visiting. We missed the English tour by 15 minutes but a kind tour guide offered to give us a tour for free. She was very kind and knowledgeable.

Dave Royer

Will get alot nicer once we boot poster boy outta there

Tobi O

We arrived a tad bit late for our tour - since we couldn’t locate the entrance on time, but the staff still accommodated us and helped us join our group. This place is rich with history!

Garth Abernethy

I've been to Parliament many times, being from Ottawa. Its under restoration at the moment. I still find it interesting to see the old architecture. They have these big posters of what the gargoyles look like on the Tower. If you're lucky the to be there on the quarter and half or houre the bells chime. It's pretty interesting. Also the Centennial flame is burning.

Ryan Hjelm

We were nearby and witnessed a local rally that was taking place on the premise . It was hot out but there was a good amount of trees and shade areas to sit and get a feel for what was up . It seems like the governemt is trying to ban flavored vape products and keep adults stuck on real cigarettes , ya know the deadly kind. Because that's where the tax dollars come from . Sad really

Elizabeth VanValkenburg

The free tours here are well worth your time to learn how Canadian government works. I was there when they weren't in session, but it made for great photo opportunities!

Vivek Sharma

A beautiful place to visit all the places to be visited in Ottawa are in a near proximity.

K Perez

Definitely must visit if your here in ???????? amazing buildings surroundings with so much sights seeing to do.. plenty of photo opps to say you were here at Canada's capital city! Loved every moment here.. the canal, the connection to Quebec border not far away.. plenty of things to explore, take a boat ride with your family.. dine in little Italy..walk the parks all around the city, we loved our visit here and will always be back..don't miss out on one of Canada's best gems..

Garry Donnelly

Wonderful representation of our young Canadian history. Easy to get to. Great lookout. Building Tours available. Friendly bilingual Guides on site to answer questions. No public vehicles allowed on the premises. Lots of security. A must site to visit when in Ottawa.

oeikichi onizuka

What a wonderful place! You can get free guided tour with specific hours at the capital information kiosk (~40min tour and get your tickets quickly as we are in high season!!! Last one is 7.45pm ) where you can drop your bags as well A MUST DO!!!

Judicaëlle Bikandu

Really lovely place to visit and very calm

Mauricio Ramirez

Excellent visit of the most important democratic symbol in Canada. Parking a 5 minute walk away. Go straight to the visitor center. Reservation mandatory online, one day ahead recommended. Free guided tours.

Emad

No matter what, you always see lots of people visiting the Parliament Hill, even if it's closed. Awesome architecture and clean area to present the Canadian government and part of Canadian history in a way it suppose to be. I recommend everyone to have a visit and enjoy the art has been employed in these big buildings.

Amatulla Lokhandwala Panwala

light show was really good! lots of room to watch it.

Yousra Harb

We visited during the Christmas season 2021. The multimedia projection show was magnificent. Also, my kids loved it!

XtineSharp

Beautiful and historical!

Joe C

We watched the change of guards. It's pretty good although we attended the one at UK. The parliament is under renovation so no admittance for the next 10 years! It's not a typo but told by one of the staff we asked.... 10 months is long but 10 years is just unbelievable.... Anyway, the light show is amazing and a good way to show our history.

Fernando Bayuga

A beautiful area in Ottawa. So much history for Canada originated here. Watched the Manulife light show. It's more like a projection of Canada's history. Definitely something to see!! The whole area is will kept. Nice restaurant options surrounding the Parliament. Come with your family too see this piece of architecture and history.

Dan Polvorosa

A must see if you are in Ottawa. Beautiful scenery clean.

Emily Labelle

Beautiful historical site. Security and information guides are all around. Take a hike around the building itself and find more crafted city treasures

Sameer Ahmed

Historical, lovely architectural construction and the most unique place in Canada, with loads of history attached to it. Well maintained, construction is ongoing and a beautiful place to have a sit down chat with family and friends.

Sukh Pabla

The Place is absolutely Beautiful. The view are great. Really Nice experience overall. Look for Centennial Flame for great pictures. The architecture of this place is just great. Must go place if visiting Ottawa.

•Amazing fidgets•

Great day and night time experience. Especially the xmas light show in the evening! Very serene and well done. Had a great time!

Ju-Chia Hsu

If you are not rush to other places, highly recommend that you could join the tour of central block and also the east block. The guide of our east block is Nick and he is so passionate and gave us a lot of detail introduction to the building with much humor. I really enjoyed the tour even more than the central block. Be sure to arrive at the ticket counter before 8:30am to ensure you get the tour tickets for the time you wish. But the guide told us the central block will closed from 2019/1/1 for renovation for 10 years. You might want to check before going there for a tour.

Alex I

If you are in Ottawa this area is without a doubt the #1 place to visit, as many are already aware of and for good reason. It is home to Canada's Federal Government and you might even get a glimpse of the Canadian Prime Minister! I would recommend walking around the buildings grounds and then heading to the back of the building and down to the water for more beautiful sights!

Marianne Vigneault

Must see in Ottawa. No matter how cliché it is all tourists can enjoy a walk around the parliament hill and the buildings. The architecture remains magnificent. However all people visiting in the summer of 2021 ought to know that there is a lot of construction going on, which is a bit of a downside to the visit of this site.

Jim Penny

Looked around, but didn't really see any hills. Building was nice, but the landlord said there weren't any vacancies. Told him I'd live in the clock, but he took needless exception.

Colleen McClease

Seeing Canadian Government up close, and getting to partake in a tour, the Room of Remembrance, and see a swearing in ceremony is an experience that I hope all Canadians get to have some day. Humbling to be a part of such a great country and system that, for the most part, works, or tries its hardest to. Truly immersed in history, respect, and culture, this is a must do for anyone who hopes to one day effect change, and step forward as a representative of this beautiful nation.

Jesus Carlos Gómez González

Imposing place full of a history that there are some events that still hurt Canada.

Z K

It was a splendid experience, a must visit attraction for anyone going to Ottawa. There are free guided tours but the space is limited and passes are available at 90 Wellington starting 9 am, it is recommended to line up by 8 to get the passes for the desired slots. The security check was done very professionally and really progressed quickly. The exhibits specially the library was mind blowing. We also got a chance to see the house of Commons and listen to the debate since the session was in progress. The peace tower and memorial hall was also beautifully done. The views from the peace tower were really awesome. Everyone including the security, admin staff and the guide was very welcoming and would definitely go again. Please like my review if you find it helpful. Hope you njoi ur trip.

Monir Shahzeidi

Absolutely make sure you have at least one day for these iconic buildings. Take a tour guide if you want to enjoy the story as well. Recommended for everyone who visits Ottawa. Grab your camera for sure!!!

Adrienne Emm

#1 spot to visit in Ottawa. Many festivities throughout the year. Tours in summer.

KEVAL PARIKH

Spectacular look. Couldn’t go inside because of Construction Activities.

Kabir Raval

Had a amazing time there. The tours are awesome. Definitely recommend. Plus there are hreat photo opportunities around back. And to top it all off there is a great variety of shops and restaurants around the area

LEONARDO BLENGINI

Fabulous and beautiful historical place to visit with your family and friends

Andrew Finlay

A gorgeous place with amazing architectural designed buildings. This is the hub of Government for Canada and it is well worth a few hours of your time.. you can walk the grounds which is dotted with numerous statues. It also sits high in a bluff so it will provide some beautiful pictures of the river and locks. We did the library tour and I cannot rate this higher. You go inside the Parliament building and get to spend 20 minutes in an amazing library

Myroslava Symonenko

Very picturesque and large open area to walk outdoors in any weather. I wish the indoors excursions were running at least a bit later in the day.

Ina Anreiter

Probably the most beautifull and most imposing place to visit in Ottawa. There are some really nice views from the Ottawa River here, and there is the Centennial flame, a burning fountain, which is really cool too. If it's open you can visit the inside, but it's nice to just stroll around the buildings outside.

pathik patel

Wow place just wow , beautiful infrastructure. Liked it very well. BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO TAKE PICS .

His Majesty MochV

I Visited Parliament Hill not to long ago and i really liked it! It was a cool place, only thing i noticed which leads me to this bad review is the smell of Indigenous people suffering and a whole lot of petrolium. Other than that it was fine.

Solecitosays

I visited it again, five times now. It's always a great place to walk, to take pictures and to remember Canadian history.

Aashil Creation

Best place. I am living in Canada like from 6 months but I don’t feel like I am in Canada but after visiting Ottawa I feel that the real Canada.

Truong Ngoc Vinh Le

Wonderful place to see ????????

Linda N'dri

Beautiful, the main building is being renovated but you can still visit the garden

Reihane Karimian

Very interesting to see the capital and all it's buildings, specifically when you realize they were built in 1876, it's crazy how they built that, it's still stunning, unfortunately the tours were canceled due to Covid but still interesting to walk around it

Nasrin Eshraghi Ivari

Definitely visit here. You will love this street. The city is a little bit serious but very interesting

Carlota Daniel

Went here last August 24, 2021. A memorial for the 215 indigenous children can seen infront of the parliament hill. Great view but today, we were sad.

Tony Gize

Beautiful, stunning architecture. Look closely and you will see gargoyles in the masonry of the buildings. Great place to walk around and spend an afternoon. Lots to do in the area on foot.

Miguel Pereira

Our capital is always stunning!

Luuk Van Der Pol

Sadly the buildings were closed due to contruction. However, they still looked amazing from the outside. If you are visiting around christmas, be sure to check out the show of lights on the middle parliament building

TD Nguyen

It is nice but it seemed to be dirtier this time around. It could be the long weekend.

Deborah

Let’s get some pictures ! Ottawa Citizens! Have they boarded up THE PEOPLES HOUSE ? OUR HOUSE… We’re coming home, PEACEFULLY. We’re staying until our CHARTER FREEDOMS are restored !

Zehra Raza

Love love love this place. What a piece of architecture with amazing city views. We saw their light show and we're blown away by it. It's bilingual and tells you the history of Canada. Very patriotic and makes you feel lucky to be in this country. I highly recommend the show.

Chris Busse

A must see if you've never been. If you want to take a free tour including the Peace Tower, you can get tickets at 9am from across the street but go early because there is usually quite the lineup to get them.

Asif A. Ali

Your visit to Ottawa isn't complete or meaningful if you miss visiting the Parliament Hill building. There are tour guides inside to give you a thorough tour and brief you about the place. Hope my photos will enlighten you about this magnificent place. Tip: 1. Keep your eyes onto the details while keeping your ears opened too. Time is against you, so grasp as much detail as you can. 2. Summer is the best time to visit if you're visiting from a different country. 3. Tulips festive is around April, be sure to arrive a bit early.

Rick Bursey

Great to be able to see in person the heart of our democracy. The guide was great even though we were English and we had to take the French tour because the others were booked.

Roger

Always a great experience when I visit

Felipe Alvarado

Even not been able to get inside (because of covid19) it was totally worth visiting this gorgeous piece of architecture and history. There is a huge ongoing construction project around the main building but still you can appreciate all the beauty and the magnificence.

metta Yoga and Reiki Therapy

I love history and Ottawa is one of my favorite places in Canada that really allows you to go back in time while melding present day Ottawa together perfectly!

Jane Houweling

I went to see the light show at Parliament and just like the last one I saw, it was incredibly well done. Always a treat to see the beautiful buildings and take a walk in the nearby park behind the Chateau.

Mohammad F

Such a beautiful place specially overnight

Julián David Melo

The light show was amazing!! It's one of the most beautiful places in Canada ????

Joseph Dixon

Been a few years and renovations everywhere , didn't get to see much cause of a lockdown and Reno but looking good so far.

Nad’s Destinations

The place has a history and you feel like there in the past. Good place to visit for kids to acknowledge the efforts put in by many to make this country great.

Who's The Kitchen Fairy

When you have the chance, take a guided tour, the inside is grand! You get to see meeting chamber, tower clock, etc. Very informative and educative.

VoudouLounge

Really nice area of Ottawa to take a stroll and hang out for a bit. Nice architecture on all the buildings to enjoy as well as ample walking space to make your ways around.

Econ Elliott

Outside rating ONLY. Inside is not open due to Covid, still. Anyway, beautiful architecture, nice walking paths all the way around the back/river side. There is still statuary and other monuments visible and accessible. Public toilets ???? are OPEN!

Fatheen Ali

Incredible architecture, and a great place to take pictures. There are so many activities to do in the area such as visiting the mall, going on a cruise, and checking out the local restaurants. Definitely check out the Northern Light show at night, it's about 30 or so mins and goes through Canada's history. The animations are absolutely incredible, and it completely transforms the Parliament building !

Ayat Tadjalli

I love this building and suggest to visit here. Every day, they have English and French tours for this building. You can book online for the tours or can get the ticket on a building in front of the Parlement building.

Adithya Kovuru

It was great experience being at parliament environment here is great and being able to get inside gives us alot of information about Canadian history as well as the architecture of the building and the view from top of the tower is absolutely stunning.????

David Hopkinson

Until we can visit and roam the halls my rating shall remain 3 stars. I'm glad the buildings are getting the necessary repairs they need. But it will feel incomplete until it is fully open to Canadians once again.

Daan Theman

Lots of old buildings and statues.

BRENDA ADEBAJO

Great for a day's outing and getting those steps in. We saw the canal bridge opening up and the water fall on the canal is nice. Lovely that you could cross the canal from one side to the other. Unfortunately due to covid the museum was not open. I would suggest devoting a couple of hours to walk and take in the sights of Wellington Street, don't be in a rush.

kiranjit deol

Very beautiful place with good old buildings many things to see here like parliament And can click picture One more interesting thing to see here the fire ???? in water fountain

Kirill Gaevski

The Christmas light show was absolutely amazing! Worth a visit once a year just for that.

Ravi Kumar

Amazing view ,great place to visit

Simranjit Sandhu

Very nice experience. Worth visiting if you interested in history, nice landscape photography, cool river view. There is small museum in coffee house below the hill. Avoid taking your car, you may have to struggle for parking. One would enjoy bicycle ride. Go with family enjoy the vocation and have great fun.

Eden

Visiting Ottawa for the first time? This Parliament is a place where politicians do their business! However it is a must add visit on your list because of how unique the building structures are built. The Parliament open to the public where they take groups of people with a tour guide. You can get tickets on their websites and exploring this place as early as they open is great just to avoid the crowds.

Prabhakar Annadurai

#1 must visit place in canada .. amazing building with beautiful architecture.. nice place to walk around a historic building .. because of the COVID inside tour is not allowed .. but you can walk around and have a look at the place with your family.. there are many statues around the building So please spend some time to get know about the history..

Rahul Thakkar

Mesmerizing architecture! You can plan to pay a visit to House of Commons and Senate, I would recommend to book your spot [we got it just previous day]. Guided tours are quite informative and provides you opportunity to understand day to day activities of our elected representatives and some of the ceremonies of the houses.

Amrita Chanana

Spectacular! Must visit! Don’t miss to walk around the Parliament, the views are just worth it.

Sam Martey Jr

It's still under construction here so there wasn't much to see. I also couldn't go inside because it was closed. However, this building is magnificent and doesn't even look dated at all! The stone wall is very detailed and all the windows look like they were just replaced or cleaned. If you are worried about security, there's a strict police detail around at all times. The best part is the light show that happens at Christmas. You should definitely check it out.

Tasdiq Ameem

Walk over behind the buildings overlooking Quebec for a better view

Jeff Davis

Came to see the temporary Chamber of Commons in West Block. Quite impressive with a great curtain wall and covering over the old atrium. Tour was short only 25 mins

Jay Xie

Lovely and beautiful building.

Sarah Robles Torres

Beautiful architecture if you’re into street photography, the only downfall is that is under repair

Zeenat Afzal

Absolutely beautiful! A must see for anyone visiting Ottawa. It would have been great to run into Mr Trudeau ???????? but maybe some other time haha. One can take a walk, sit on the stairs, enjoy a beautiful view - I enjoyed my time here.

Wessel van Loenen

Parliament hill was nice to see where our laws used to be passed, however right now they’re removing the underground tunnels. A bunch of satanic things were going on right there, even the city of Ottawa symbol is clearly “666” They were jackhammering the sides of the wall but you could see a wall that had been cemented shut, clearly a tunnel, a huge excavator could fit through it before it was patched. Windows were boarded up also, just like many governmental buildings globally. There’s a power shift happening.

Bartosz Scheller

Whether you're coming for a quick photo or going on a tour. The Parliament is a must stop for tourists and people interested in architecture, history and Canadian culture. Protip, the best photos of Parliament are taken from the Quebec side, either from the Alexandra Bridge or the Portage Bridge or from the Canadian Museum of (Civilization) History.

Douglas McNeill

It is still nice that the public has such open access. I only hope that this can be maintained in the future. Great place to go for a walk to take in the sights. The light shows in fall are always fantastic, or you can try the 'yoga on the hill' during the summer.

Ash Lamba

What an architecture marvel. The indoor tours are closed due to Covid and the renovation. I did all the indoor tours when I visited Ottawa back in 2019. The Northern lights show is a must if you’re visiting in Summers. Make sure you check out the hill from Nepean Point

Chris Dacey

Beautiful Buildings, Rich History, The Home of our Democracy. The Free Northern Lights show nightly is phenomenal. Free tours (book online)

kate robinson

The advantage of going to Parliament Hill in November and during a pandemic is that the crowds are light. However, its worth the visit in any season. The history of Canada feels very immediate as you look at these beautiful buildings and the eternal flame.

Christian Liu

Canada's political iconic building. It's got better views from the back of the building and you can find a nice small trail down to the canal and riverside if you can find it. Worth visiting and for a nice walk if it isn't too cold, too hot, or too rainy.

Ayesha Zahid Hussain

It is very beautiful in night also. I have seen it the day view in pictures only but I know it is beautiful in day and night as well.

Starleana Rose

Capital of Canada. Beautiful spot. The ice rink that cost millions of dollars of Canadian tax payers money was a bit stupid considering we have out Rideau canal just steps away to go skating from Parliament Hill. Besides that, Parliament Hill is just full of beauty. Many things happen during the year. This was a Christmas festival of lights. It was great for children.

Rob Macdonald

Parliament Hill is an awesome place to visit and soak up some Canadian history. We were able to walk to it from where we were staying to avoid trying to find a parking spot. The grounds are open to walk around. However, they are doing major construction in front and around The Block. A number of the statues and gardens were blocked, but the view of the river was still very nice at sun set. Surprisingly, it was very quiet when we came. So there were no concerns with crowds, lucky us. The Centennial Flame was where the most folks were gathering. To get the perfect photo. We only had to wait a few minutes to get the photo. We didn't do the tour, but just walked the grounds. However, in the past (before Covid 19) we have been here on Canada Day and done the tour. I would recommend both.

Iulian Baciu

This place has a very special energy. It celebrates diversity, Canadian history and values. I've always enjoyed visiting it.

If you come to Ottawa, you have to start from here. This place makes you know how great, powerful, and loyal the early people are in establishing this great nation. ( you can watch the lights show every day 9:30pm in summer)

Hemant Saini

Definitely worth the effort on an cold and gloomy day in Ottawa. Though there is lot of construction work underway in and around the Parliament Hill - one would still be impressed with the imposing buildings in this central part of Ottawa.

Dhaval Panchal

Parliament hill is my best experience with respect to places. Great experience. We were returning from Montreal and thought have a in car view of city. We loved it so much that we stayed one more night here. Great experience.

Manoj Goli

When you ask 'what are the places to visit in Ottawa?', 99% percentage of people will start there answer with "Parliament". Very good place to visit with family or friends. Don't miss to go inside the Parliament. Entrance is free but you need a ticket though. You will be provided with a common guide who explains the stuff inside. Backside of the Parliament you will get a great scenic view of entire city. Worth your time.

S H

Very impressed with the Changing of the Guards, Parliament Hill and Senate. Great place to visit and learn more about Canadian politics. Lots to do and see in downtown Ottawa!

Sheromie Vittachi

Lots of construction going on. But it’s the Capital so… Nice in the back with views of Hull and the Rideau Canal.

Ecem Yelekli

I loved it! I was there on 30th and 31th of December. Because of the new year , it was not open, I couldn't see inside but I watched the light show on the Parlement show at night. It was an cartoon animation, lots of people was watching it and the colours were amazing ???? The only disappointment was there weren't not fireworks, but I understood the reason, so our health is much more important. I loved Parliament Building, next time I will be back to visit inside the building.

James Wiens

- 100% worth going to. ???????????? - lots of police around. ???????? - cool fire burning on top of water. ????⛲ - located right downtown, it seemed like everywhere I went around the city I could see this hill. ???? - made for some cool photos. ????

Coral Widdowson

Beautiful (except for the massive restoration happening at the moment. Signs around the property say the restoration will take years so if you are looking for a picture-perfect photo you might have to resort to buying a postcard).

Bridget Saulnier

Fantastic tour with our historically knowledgeable guide, Erin O’Toole. Such an important and beautiful part of Canada’s history. The Parliamentary library is really incredible to see in person. Sorry to see the library and Centre Block being closed for necessary restoration but will surly be better than ever when it’s done.

Ralph Gibson

Access of course severely limited by ongoing construction but still interesting & impressive to circumnavigate on foot. Even the massive hole in the rock is worth seeing. Security personnel are helpful & courteous. Hope to be able to return in 10 years when the renovations are complete.

Suren Kumar

Great place to visit. Didn’t get a chance to go into the parliament because of renovations and COVID. Inside visiting is blocked for public since pandemic started and renovations. We have got one book from info center in front of the parliament which has pretty great info about the statues. By following the book we can understand about each and every statue. You have to make some time to check all the statues.

Jose Jr. Vizinho

Beautiful place, very historical. Beautiful architecture.

GRAY

Of all the attractions to visit in Ottawa, Ontario, Parliament Hill truly deserves to be at the very top of your list. This truly is an impressively awe-inspiring location! Don't miss it, especially around Christmas and New Year's.

Gary Felvis

My friend and I were only there for the day. We decided to go for Canada Day 150 and it was a lot of fun. It was incredibly busy though. The lineup to get on to the Hill was over 5 hrs! I would love to go back and do it again without all the people there.

Dr. Sadia Akther Sony

My go to place in Ottawa to spend a beautiful evening or have a walk or even seat for a while. Beautiful parliament building and the surrounding nature is mesmerizing

Carla Sheedy

I didn't realize the bells played music other than chiming the time! Construction noise is absolutely awful right now so they were hard to hear. Definitely not a peaceful place but it's not very busy. Nice wandering around in the evening because it's quiet by that point.

Rami F.F

Although it is the Canadian Parliament but it is an iconic building, a piece of art and symbolic in nature. All sorts of activities take place here. From Canada Day huge celebrations, Christmas lights in Dec and, last but not least, the Northern Lights that happens on almost 2 months span in July and August around sunset. All the aforementioned are free of charge including the Parliament tours which are given based on first come, first serve basis. You might be lucky and have a chance to tour the Peace Tower. Great to be there!

JAIN SOJAN

The central attraction of ottawa. Lot of buildings with a archeological structural mix in construction increase the beauty. The parliament, house of commons, supreme court, national war statue, the famous five are been main magnetic factors. Many people from many places come and visit parliament hill because of its uniqueness.

AR

Most of the areas are under construction. Couldn’t get a tour due to COVID situation. But less crowded. Took ferry rider for C$10 for both sides. The view of parliament from ferry was beautiful.

F K

I loved all the colours of the lights! It's pretty and festive. The architecture of the buildings and history.

Pablo Hernandez

Great place. Thanks Trudeau for homeless people. Ok enough sarcasm, Canada is a beautiful place and if you are in the region you have to visit the parliament, it’s a shame a drama teacher is ruining some great stuff.

Minh Hiền Trương

Parliament Hill (French: Colline du Parlement), colloquially known as The Hill, is an area of Crown land on the southern banks of the Ottawa River in downtown Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Its Gothic revival suite of buildings is the home of the Parliament of Canada and has architectural elements of national symbolic importance. Parliament Hill attracts approximately 3 million visitors each year. Law enforcement on Parliament Hill and in the parliamentary precinct is the responsibility of the Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) Parliament Hill is a limestone outcrop with a gently sloping top that was originally covered in primeval forest of beech and hemlock. For hundreds of years, the hill served as a landmark on the Ottawa River for First Nations and, later, European traders, adventurers, and industrialists, to mark their journey to the interior of the continent. After Ottawa, then called Bytown, was founded, the builders of the Rideau Canal used the hill as a location for a military base, naming it Barrack Hill. A large fortress was planned for the site but never built, and by the mid-19th century the hill had lost its strategic importance - Wikipedia

Sunalini Rana

We attended the light and sound show at the parliament hill and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. The show is for half an hour and it demonstrates Canada’s rib history. The show was jam packed. People were sitting on the grass. Some had even brought their picnic chairs (notes for the next time) and mats etc. Each and every part of the show was memorable. Check their website for timings before heading out.

Marcus H!!

Parliament hill is very beautiful, scenic, historic and fascinating all at the same time. Be sure to go to the booth early in the morning to get your tickets, even if you're having an evening tour. Last tour is about 3:30 and remember you'll have to clear security first.

Jiusi Lu

Centre block is currently under renovation. Due to COVID-19, none of the parliament building is open to tourists.

Inder Paul

So huge and so clean with no rush. Less traffic, building awesome. Adjacent buildings are too beautiful. Worth to see and will visit Ottawa again if get chance.

cherry varghese

Major attraction of ottawa. Nice place to walk around and take a look back to history ????

Reachill Franche

Always one of my favorite place to visit when I'm in Ottawa..????

Michael Binder

The Parliament region in Ottawa is absolutely breathtaking. So many beautiful historical buildings that are large and majestic. The view of the Ottawa river from Parliament Hill is amazing. One of the prettiest cities I've been in.

Amanda Long

Great site seeing, enjoyed walking around, some of us did tours, enjoyed evening light show though it felt a bit one sided as far as Canadian history goes.

Viyasar M

Amazing light shows during Christmas. There are construction going on at this point yet it doesn't dull the beauty of the majestic parliament. Can't wait to go in after the renovation.

Usha Haran

It's a great place to visit.. it was but cold in December... but we definitely would like to come by in summer... love to walk around lot of places there..

darren mcphee

Awesome to see The History of our Country as its in Action....Security was Tight...as it should be...but Friendly and Efficient...Lobbying the MP's and Senators was a great and empowering Experience.!!

Benjamin Homaii, P.Eng.

Gorgeous architecture, extremely pleasant to look at and unimaginably charming. First things that crossed my mind when I was at the Parliament Hill.

Benjamin TALLIER

A beautiful place even though it is undergoing some refurbishment at the back but it's worth it for the view in the river. The size and location of these building make them an unmistakable part of your trip to Ottawa. Everynight there is a light show on the building so I will update my review later with some more pictures.

Furqan Syed

The place looks amazing at night especially during the light show. It's a great place to get to Canadian history and culture.

Francesco Xodo

Beautiful part of the city of Ottawa, with a lot of great buildings in Gothic style that house the Parliament of Canada. There is a chance to take a free guided visit, but you have to get to the ticket office early since tickets can end up pretty fast. I was able to visit the centre block with the Senate and Commons chambers and the Peace Tower, everything was very fascinating. During summer at 9 p.m. there's a show called Northern Lights, in which they project an animation about the history of Canada on the facade of the centre block.

Dr. Zu

This was a great spot in the middle of downtown Ottawa. I really like the flame and the views by the river. If you ever thought about this is a must-see. I also really appreciate being able to meet Justin Trudeau in my dreams haha. From here I would actually suggest going to the Supreme Court which is just right beside the Parliament building for a nice view, and also looping around the parliament to get views of the river and views from behind which are a little bit different but are quite nice too.

Daniel Capoferri

Beautiful as always. There's a bit of construction going on right now that's blocking the view, but still wonderful to walk around the area and look over the hillside.

Rawnok Alam Barsha

This place is amazing. Great old architecture & river view. So calming here. Visited with my family. It's kid friendly. One of Ottawa's great attractions.

Maria M

This place is so beautiful! Loved the experience. Visited with family and everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The washrooms in this area are neatly maintained according to guidelines due to COVID-19. The place itself is very nice and clean and was not too crowded when we visited. We were able to get amazing pictures. we walked around and saw the amazing architectural details on the buildings and were in awe.

Paul Brown

Ottawa is a beautiful city and Parliament Hill is a must if you visit. Beautiful green spaces with people enjoying the nice weather and colourful tulips in full bloom.

Brian Leslie

Free tours with walk up availability, provided you get in line by 9:00ish (before all the avail tour times windows are filled)! Delightfully intricate woodwork adorns the library, the only original building that survived the fire of the early 20th century intact.

Barsa Talkies

It's an amazing experience. One can get the tickets from across the street for free. There are two kinds of tickets... One is guided tour of the Parliament and the other is tour to the top of the Parliament where one can view the whole city. The tickets are particular time period. One needs to there that time to not to miss the experience. From top of the Parliament, one can get a view of other important buildings of Ottawa. Also, the famous Bell which rings every 15 mins can viewed when one is travelling up in the elevator. The bell is rung by a person if it is to be done every 15 minutes, if it is rung every 1 hour, it is done automatically. It seems they are closing Parliament Hill for next 15 years after Jan, 2019 for renovation.

Parth Dholakia

Amazing architecture! This is a great place to visit if you are in Ottawa. Probably the number one attraction. They give a free tour of the Parliament building. Our tour guide was excellent and informative. You are encouraged to ask questions about Canadian politics so that as a group you can leave more informed. On the tour, you are allowed to take photographs of the amazing beauty of the building. It was an excellent visit, and highly recommend it!

Val V

Very informative tours. I was impressed at the guide's (Vicky's) knowledge and ability to answer questions. GET YOUR FREE TICKETS ACROSS THE STREET AT 90 WELLINGTON ST. The building is BEAUTIFUL. The view from the peace tower amazing. The boutique has some really nice souvenirs as well, such as gold and silver maple leaves.

david charles

Went in the morning for the change of guards, the went again to watch the lights and fireworks. A really great experience, we really loved it every bit of it. It's well worth it if you stay for both the events.

Lais Rios

Beautiful building and history behind. Go early to 90 Wellington st to get the free tickets for the tour. Don't forget to get tickets for the memorial chamber and peace tower. It be closed for renovations in March 2019 and it will stay closed for 10 to 15 YEARS!!!!

Sifiso Nkosinathi Nobela

We had an amazing event during the black history month, an event which show cases African with their cultures and all African countries coming together to make history. This place offered the best entertainment system which allows you to host and help events without a worry, high speed internet, good projectors all synced. Entrance security. No parking at all and you can bring your own food and there’s a lot of rooms for other events, neat and nice washrooms. I can recommend this to others.

mangshra lite

The building was large and impressive but we were only there visiting the outside as we were passing through. The grounds left something to be desired. They have free tours of the inside and I'm told by a friend who has gone before that it was a great tour. There seems to be a light display Show starting at 9 as well but again we didn't have time to wait around for that. Wish we did though. Sure it would have been interesting.

Anna Nguyen

Wondeful place. I take lots of castle photos. Moreover, in the evening, it’s great to enjoy the wonderful view of lake and park. There are many statues for you to take photos. In spring time, tulips bloom everywhere. If you go to Ottawa, don’t miss this place! Highly recommend!

Bar

Great place to visit during summer and winter , great place that has on the top floor view all over downtown Ottawa , the place has a tour that cost nothing at all , and the building is offer a great view on the river. really recommended it , if you go to ottawa you have to visit this place. good luck :)

Jess Messi

if only it weren't under construction the fifth time i went :( sweet place! very pretty, clean, and well maintained, being a national symbol in the capital. the light show every night in the summers is wonderful and makes everybody love Canada a little more. i can't stress how scenic this whole area is. the view over the river, the gothic architecture of parliament and nearby buildings. this is literally THE castle on the hill around Ontario and every time i visit i listen to that Ed Sheeran song to revisit my Ottawa memories (i had a grad trip here, a geography contest, family Christmas reunion...) it is one of the most political buildings around, as it is the seat of the federal government. but once you visit and get the scent of the river, the view on the hill, the tan and partially blackened Nepean sandstone walls, and even if you order one of those nice guided tours, it makes you forget completely about the political mess Canada is in. i think that's something quite ironic and special about this place. you think a lot more about the atmosphere and physical details (and maybe history) than politics. the burning fountain and historical statues on parliament grounds are worth checking out for sure. great for pictures and for learning about Canadian history. you can read about and take selfies with Cartier, Wilfrid Laurier, the War of 1812 monument, the Famous Five.

Aptaputra Bharatanand

It’s historical place & also parliament building of Canada with excellent architects. One can take free tour of parliament building visit with guides. Guides are really expert n explains in details about working of Canadian govt & both houses.

Mitesh Raval

I love this beautiful country ... the best part of this country is freedom of expression. You give all your loyalty , honesty, hard work and it rewards you back. Believe in yourself and never stop learning.

Astrid

Amazing christmas light display.

John van Popta

We can were able to attend the sweating in of my brother. He was reelected was member of Parliament for Langley BC. It was a marvelous privilege to be there with my other brother. It was worth the 1100km roundd trip.

flightkid200

Very nice place, currently there is construction ???? outside the parliament building

Shankar Danagoudru

It’s one of the most beautiful locations in the town. Must watch place. There is a tour with guide that happens every hour or so... please collect your passes and wait for the tour to begin. You would be taken inside Parliament House to see all the happening places. If you are travelling in winter, carry enough warm clothes. One of the most fascinating places inside is library - mind blowing view and so silent....

Habib Khan

Beautiful view, great open space. Don't miss the change of guards ceremony at 10 AM in the morning. The Air Forces fly past is amazing!

Robin Aldos

A must see every time you visit. Tulips, tourists and history. The kiddos loved every minute and even got to watch the howitzers 21 guns salute. They had to cover their ears but it was an awesome Victoria Day weekend. Crowd was minimal and it felt safe the entire time. We were lucky the weather was in our favor that day.

Alexandra Mendes

What can I say? Simply humbled to call it my place of work... And the West Block, where the House of Commons will assemble during the restauration of Centre Block, is a magnificent testimony to the architectural and engineering expertise of Canadian professionals.

Gopinath Chidambaram

It's a fantastic Canada Day celebration this year 2018. The fireworks show was a well orchestrated event which was Awesome and splendid. Hordes of people, celebrating with joyfully and harmoniously, made the scene a unique experience. The musical concert was well received and enjoyed. Thanks to the Government and officials for organising this event.

Jim Delong

Well.... Another year and the scenery has hardly changed other than the scaffolding being moved to another section of this magnificent structure. I suppose this will be like this for some time. Either way it's well worth the visit. There is still lots to see and do regardless but seeing this building under restoration, and a part of our heritage repaired and preserved, is a comforting sight. I just wish it was finished already and that Covid 19 was behind us because the laser light show displayed on parliament is well worth the drive. My rating would have been 5 stars if not for what I've already mentioned. Perhaps some of my photos will shed light on the joys and wonders this building has to give.

Jolly Roger

Parliament Hill being on the top list of things to do on TripAdvisor, there’s a reason for that. The magnificent buildings have played the milestone as well as witness the development of Canada in North America history. If you’ve ever got the chance to be here, don’t just wander around, do read the information and stories told by the tour guide or the Gothic buddings themselves. You’ll be extraordinarily amazed the history you will be doomed to find out.

Benedet Lopz

Beautiful place, stunning buildings and views of the city from the hill. If you feel like walking just go to the bridge in front of the museum and you cam see parliament hill from there. I went at the beginning of spring so there was ice on the river but it wasn’t that cold, the pictures shows the beauty of the place !

Amine Fourati

Nice place and a must see in Ottawa

Michelle Labonte

Super bummed out with all the construction going on. Good thing I have the ability to go again later down the road but do feel bad for the people who don't have that luxury and this would be the only time they could visit. But with covid, there is probably no better time for them to do the reconstruction.

Joseph Herde

After moving to Ottawa, I decided to take a day off from work and go spelunking downtown - take in the sights, get an appreciation for the city I was fortunate to call home. If you're an architecture buff, or a wannabe photographer like me (go easy on me) you will thoroughly enjoy trekking around downtown Ottawa on foot. I fortunately, Parliament hill was shrouded in construction equipment and scaffolding, so I wasn't able to get a clear photo - but I will!

Michael Chung

The guide we had in the central block was terrible due to her rude behavior, and it made the whole tour pretty disappointing. She didn't seem to like to have any kids in her tour group because she frequently told those who had babies not to disturb her, which offended my eye. On the other hand, the guide we had in the East block was super kind. And for the sound and light show, no other show is as fantastic as the one on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. It was the best show ever!

Matt Wong

Historical and beautiful gothic style government buildings

bob badger

Castro Jr better stay in Cuba to avoid arrest by free humanity of Canada. Honk honk trucks are coming

Paul Labossiere

Our family watched the light show on Center Block and it was nicely done and fun.

Shane Mcferran

Heritage is something we all can appreciate. The ongoing commitment to the stone work, windows, fencing, walkways is a massive feet. This is out heritage and it needs the attention. It is truly looking wonderful. Excellent panorámica around the back. The Ottawa river and the bridges look stunning. People come from all over to take in the architecture and the sites. Awesome.

Brian Hamilton

Inspiring and beautiful. Our history has a shameful past, but this area 8s hopefully for a bright future.

Akshay Gandhi

Beautiful building! Loved the structure. A lot of work is going on currently to preserve the place.

R T

If you are into history and government attractions than you should stop by when passing through Ottawa. I went on Rememberance Day and was able to enjoy the lights display (Falling of the Poppy). They offer free tours and there is a good amount to see so stop by early to allow yourself time to situate and enjoy!

elena k

Grandeur building, but closed for renovation for next 10-15 years. You can still snap few pics in front of it, just make sure to let construction trucks to pass. You can still visit Senate and House of commons at different locations, which we highly recommend, especially in the winter.

Patrick Ganz

It's so beauty near the Parliament hill

Gregory G

Parliament Hill is amazing! The old architecture, the history, the excitement!! We had an amazing day visiting Canada’s Parliament in Ottawa! Lots to see here and plenty of nearby food options when you get hungry! We walked all around Parliament and got pictures from 3 different directions. This is a must see on a visit to Canada’s capital city!

KJ

Beautiful and the tours pretty worth it, make sure the systems been changed so you need book tour on online first :)

F Cue

Parliemnt is under construction.. No access for the next 10 years they say.. But lots of other things to do.. Restaurants biward market. Boat cruise.. Etc.

issa abbas

So beautiful, and a great place to take pictures, although it’s under renovation now.

Paul Carr

Oh is so amazing to see this magical place up close as a Canadian it is a must see in person place.

Renata M.

It is always nice to visit the Parliament. This time I brought my children so they can experience it as well. Very beautiful building and beautiful architecture. Everyone is so polite. I could never get the English tour but it was ok in French too.

Like Clubs

This is ofcourse a must see landmark in Canada. Needless to say that Canadian honour their Fallen, the Great, the Soldiers and all the Service people that went above and beyond creating this great and modern nation, a home to so many cultures that everyone called home CANADA. This experience of this great nation is a must. Go and visit and enjoy.

Leegi Bu

100 year old construction surrounded by 20+ statues. Try parking a few blocks down and then walk back, so you can explore the many other hotels, restaurants, parks & attractions in the area. A nice place that warrants at least one visit.

Kirsten McDowell

Went for a tour of the new “temporary” House of Commons. What a fabulous renovation!! I hope they keep the courtyard for special events when they eventually move back out. Great informative tour. And you never know who you’re going to run into.

Gregory Saygon

If I could, I'm just sitting here Thanksgiving weekend and was thinking what could I say if I ever met the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. There's so much say but I will sum it up because I know that you have a very busy day. Thank You very much (Mr. Prime Minister) for all of the great and hard work that you do for myself but more importantly all of Canada. I appreciate you so much and to the whole cabinet. Some of the most intelligent people that help make the most important decisions to help run this beautiful country. May God continue to Bless the Queen, May God Bless the Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his wife Mrs.Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, (their children), and the each member of the cabinet. As well as all the people that work on the Parliament Hill. Happy Thanksgiving. Cheers. ????????????????????????????❤❤❤❤????????

Matthew v.G.

Managed to get a tour of the west block. What a sight to see. Amazing structure that incorporates the old with new beautifully. Take a good look at the pictures I've posted to get an in depth view of what the project has encompassed.

Mary Speed

First time visiting the Parliament Hill in 2018. Great place for all ages. Prepare to spend a day in the area cause you don’t want to miss the inside tour. Not sure if you can still visit inside during covid but definitely worth your time.

Malcolm McAuley

Lots of opportunity to wander around the area. Lots of construction happening now as they update things but still plenty to see and lots of history to soak in. You could easily spend several hours walking the parliament and surrounding areas.

Tanjina Sharmin

Great place to visit with lots of Canadian history to learn.

Sheerine Reid

Beautiful views both the historic buildings and the view of Gatineau from the back. If you go in the evening after dark you can enjoy the lights and it is quite quiet.

Brant Field

A absolutely amazing place to visit. The library is original to the pre-fire Parliament building and is an architectural masterpiece. Make sure you time your visit with a sitting of Parliament so you can take in question period, a must for any Canadian. The Parliament building is closing after July 1 2018 for a 10 year renovation so get there soon.

Joseph Paul-Martin

Great sights of the buildings in the surrounding area, would recommend checking out the place. I have been here many times, the view, the architecture is something to look at.

Vinaya R

Must visit place in Ottawa, plan and visit early in the day to avoid crowds. Also, This place is blocked for construction.

Bobby Constantino

Night light show was good.. bit windy so dress appropriately and enjoy!!!

Patt Biro

Awesome freedom rally. Come on down Canada. True north strong and free

Marc Roberge

The walk around the Parliament wasfun, the weather was great. People left toys, shoes in respect to the burial sites of Indigenious children.

Parvez Fattah

Not only for Canadians, but the area surrounding the parliament is a great place to walk with your family. Great views of the river at the back of the building. Great place to be on Canada Day. Easy access to the area via public busses.

Derekhe1988

This is my third visit to this site. First time was in 2002. Second time was in 2019. If you want to really get to know Canada definitely do pay this place a visit. It is worth it!

Valerie Fox

Ottawa is a terrible place to try and park an RV. They do not want you there. But if you're going to visit the capitol I would suggest that you park in one of the parking lots along Gloucester Street this is the best place for on RV but you will have to walk to the parliament buildings. On weekends the rate is $3 for the day 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. and $3 from 5 p.m. till 5 a.m. For those of you in an RV do not make a mess when parking in these facilities. This is a parking lot NOT a campground.

Giselle Warrington

Went to watch the light show on the Parliament on New Years Day!!!! Well done and a nice thing to do outside at this time of year.

Krystal Morley

I loved walking through downtown Ottawa with all of the magnificent buildings and structures. I was able to walk around Parliament hill and capture small beautiful moments. Unfortunately there was a lot of construction going on. I hope to return and be able to experience it in all of its restored glory!

Shekhar Sarvaiya

Parliament hill is the best historical place. I loved the structure and the design. Somewhat gave me feeling like UK london. New year lightings were awesome.

Ashley Wang

On the first day of 2022!

dr. ahmed

It was exciting to feel as if I am in 19th century. A walk through the downtown was it self an amazing experience and the neuron app ride was fun too. There were amazing fire works too

Daniel Irigoyen

Beautiful building, you should come in and see the inside of the building before it starts remodeling in September. Not only is the tour very explanatory, the guides have a great energy and are ready to answer any of your questions. The library is small, and yet one of the most beautiful ones I've seen.

Sunny Shrm

Building not opened for tours very disappointing ????permanently closed not just for co-vid as most Canadian tourists here think there's the shooting of the poor guard that happened 2 hrs ago Bess his soul and family but it's time to do social distancing tours like their giving thru the locks on the Rideau canal !!!! Geez Mr. Trudeau give us a break eh ???

Awesome view of the canal and river along with parliament hill.

The place was under construction so we couldn't get a full view. But we had a nice walk on the bridge and also had a cruise in the Gatineau River

I loved the vibe there. It was different. I mean, the buildings were not concrete but stone or rock. It really did feel historic. We saw rainbow too.

The place to visit in Ottawa . Make sure you don’t miss the parlement when you visit the view is amazing the building are historic and majestic . You can see the river and all Gatineau from there . The Alexandria beige . I also discovered that in summer you can take a water taxi under the bride and you can see the parlement from the water . Do that at sunset and you will have beautiful golden colored pics as you can see in my pics .

Beautiful place. This can be a magical place during Christmas. We visited during the Holidays and they turned this place into a winter wonderland. We spent around 3 hours here even though it was freezing cold.

Parliament will only open to visitors till end of this year, 2018. It will be under renovation for the next 10 - 15 years. You need to be there before 9am to line up to get tour tickets for the day.
