REVIEWS OF Commissioners Park IN Ottawa

Eva De Castro

My family and I love to go here during Tulip festival and in the summer. In May, you get to see the dsiplay of different kinds of tulips. They also have a kayak and paddle boat rental near the river. You can bring food and have a picnic with your family in the summer or fall. ????????

Kamal Akhavan

Tulips festival. But mostly they aren’t opened yet on 12th May. But who cares? Even one opened tulip should be seen.

Edson Sieczka

Beautiful place but people are not acting on a social distance at all.

Thoma Simpson

Beautiful during early summer when all the flowers are in bloom. Good place for a pit stop during your bike ride. Lansdowne park is nearby where you can grab a bite and come sit down to enjoy it. Just beside the historic rideau canal.

Declan Ryan (Guitar Declan)

A beautiful park with lots of green spaces, trees and flowers, and great view of the Rideau canal! But in May, that's when it's at its best! The Tulip festival is in full bloom and the park is filled with them!

Simon Di

A slice of solitude in a busy part of town. Bordering Dow's Lake, this park is a fantastic place for runners, picknickers, dog walkers, cyclists, strollers and anyone else who enjoys relaxing outdoor green spaces. Make sure you visit in May during the tulip festival; you'll see thousands of brightly coloured tulips, a testament to Canada's rich friendship with the Netherlands.

Melvin John Osian

It's kind a familiar place in the Philippines, tulips are great, the lake is awesome....

SUBASH OLIVEIRA

Extremely beautiful and peaceful park by the lake. Great for boating too...

Jing Lu

One of the most photographed scenes in Ottawa! Large greeneries next to Dows Lake, home to the annual TulipFest. This public park is well maintained and free to all. Multi-functional trail is located next to the Rideau Canal. Beautiful and accessible to everyone. Highly recommend!

Mahad Shire

Had a great day walking and enjoying the tulips.

Kasper B

This is a great park, lots of open space for a picnic, many large trees that will provide shade. Although there were a lot of people having picnics and walking through, it didn’t feel crowded.

Shoira Ulugova

It is a great place to relax, listen to birds and just go away from everything ????

Colin Snelson

Great park! Lots of benches and nice views of dow's lake!

Thomas Erskine

It's a good place to people-watch, but that's because there are lots of people. If you want to be able to get away from them, go to the other side of Dow's Lake to the Dominion Arboretum; more space to spread out.

Manveer Singh

Clean and Tidy. If you want to spend a summer evening in Ottawa or walk along canal, then this place is for you.

Sam David

I walk here every day. Great park

Paul Kornienko

Flowers are nice but the people are not. Antisocial downtown..alot of people but none that care to cottage country Salut. Glebians.

Quang Vu

I have been here two times on Tulip Festivals. I loved those flowers. They are just stunning. Walking through the park along Rideau Canal in a sunny Sunday with family and friends was an unforgettable moment.

David Chartrand

Site of the Tulip Festival and right next to Dow's lake, this is a quaint little park with a great view of action from the red Adirondack chairs that sit lakeside.

amrit rodrigues

Tulips galore, boats available to rent on the Dow Lake at the boat pavilion

Ash Xie

It's very crowded during the tulip festival season. I would not recommend this place. There are lot of other places where you cab enjoy the same peacefully. Parking is also a pain.

Ashish Patel

Every year in this park Canadian people are celebrating Tulip festival. This is world's largest tulip festival. You must visit this festival. More than 10k plus different types of telus are there.

Noah Davidson

It's a good spot for watching rich people exercise.

Hoda Izadnia

We went to the park on May 11th for tulip festival and there was no tulip flower. How come you announce a flower festival and when people get there, they see no flower???!!!

Deo Madrid

Great place to take pictures of flowers!

Gokul Raj Pullagura

Beautiful place for a nice, refreshing, evening, spring walk.

Mardiray

This is really a lovely city park. It is well laid out. The park becomes spectacular in the spring during the Tulip Festival. There is ample nearby parking. The paths are well-maintained. Just a few blocks away are restaurants and shopping. There's a nice breeze along the water. An oasis of green and tranquility in the city.

Mahmud

Beautiful views of the river with roadside parking almost always available.

Louise Gross

Weather was beautiful to see the tulips

Sameer Ahmed

Arjav's Little World Arjav Trinay

Tulip festival is incredible.. it's a treat to your eyes

Sabbir Hossain

Excellent place for a walk! All the tulips made ot even more special! A breathing place in this era pf mask & pandemic!

Leonard Surges

Tulip festival in May. Lovely gardens from spring through fall. Open spaces for exercise, yoga and picnics. Washrooms nearby, at Dow's Lake Pavilion.

Matthew Domsy

The tulip festival in early Spring is sure to please the eye and nose. Summer at commissioners is full of the smell of flowers and plenty of shade cast by large deciduous trees. The same deciduous trees erupt into various brilliant yellows, reds, and oranges in the Fall, a picturesque Canadian landscape. Winter is just as lovely with, at times, a mainly undisturbed blanket of snow.

Jatin Bhardwaj

It has Tulips, but in small batches of flower beds. Good to have a walk with your family. Nearby parking is damn slow, took me 40 mins to exit the parking.

Skot F

Awesome place for a walk or bike ride.

Dana Mihut

First time visiting the Tulip Festival!!! It is very beautiful and lots of tulip. I visited on a Sunday at noon and it was packed. If you like flowers then here is heaven for you. Parking is $14 for a day. There are ice cream trucks at every Corner but make sure you have cash with you (they only accept cash).

J. B

A pretty boring park with little to do but stroll along pathways. No points of interest beyond some flowers here and there. I counted 4 water fountains there yesterday and all four were broken with "sorry for the inconvenience" signs posted on boxes which covered them. It's been this way for years, yet NCC can erect a brand new super-sign telling patrons how much pride they take in managing the park. Don't bother with this place.

Lovely C

Giving the tulip fest a 1 star. Most of what we saw are pure grass!! Very few tulips for what they call a “tulip festival”. I think there were only 5-6 tulip corners. My mom told me it wasn’t like that before she visited the festival waaay long ago. And that most corners of the trees are surrounded with tulips. Drove 5 hrs for this, very disappointed. Some of it aren’t even bloomed yet, and they didn’t plant much tulips for this festival. I don’t even think that there were a thousand tulips planted. Better to go somewhere else like in Vancouver for a much nicer tulip festival. Otherwise it is just a waste of time.

Nicole Chung

Great place to visit to check out the tulips in season. Would like to visit again!

Ramsey Wright

A great park for a picnic, especially when the Tulip Festival is in full swing. This year there were lots of food trucks and vendors, and crowds to match. A bit tough to get a clear shot of the flowers. No playground, but plenty of green space for running around.

Elizabeth “Liz” Breton

Beautiful. Gorgeous. Open space. People often come in spring to see the tulips but there are always seasonal flowers in bloom (spring-fall). In these times (COVID-19), this park is a fantastic place to bring lawn chairs and have a social distance gathering or simply meet a friend in an open air space. I bring my dog here all the time to take a nice loop around. Be aware there are often people who have their dogs off leash (even though it is a on leash park) so be vigilant. In my case my dog is not fond of other dogs and I've had to yell to have people's "friendly" dog controlled or, worse, pick my dog up in avoidance.

Hai Vu

Well maintained, safe place to spend time by yourself or with family. Next to lake, lots of walking paths, lots of green spaces. Home of the tulip festival in the spring.

Sergio Visneskie

Beautiful park. Has a bike bath, Muskoka chairs, views of the canal, Dow's lake. Highly recommend walking through here

Jordan Larin

Beautiful area. Can’t wait for the water to fill in the canal. Nice open area. Lots of room for physical distancing. ????????

Kathryn Racine

Gorgeous year round gardens, peaceful and shady for walking and bench sitting. The tulips are always gorgeous, but the NCC maintains annuals in all of the beds. A lovely place to walk.

Nhr Alsbr

Amazing place to go especially in May when the flowers just blossomed. Tulip festival

Pramod Govinda Reddy

Well maintained park. Good place to spend time for a group of people. Tulip festival event happens every year at the dawn of summer. Great place to spend evenings with family with cycle trails.

Ken Bennett

Tulip Festival was fantastic. Very pleasant to stroll through the park.

Lee Bay

Amazing display of tulips in the city centre with lots of walking trails, waterfront activities like pedal boats and kayaks. Lots of nature with room to explore

Nancy Rubi

Cute park, lots of flowers, close to the River, great to walk, have a picnic, has amazing trees, great to take pictures

Marina Canalejo

The tulips are in full bloom and the colours are spectacular! Not too many people on Saturday afternoon, so I was able to park on the street. Right on Booth Street there was a food truck and their poutine was amazing! There aren't any vendors in the park so, take advantage of the food trucks.

Nick K

Beautiful park. Fun for the whole family

Mikaël Gravé

An Ottawa must-visit place during the tulip season. Every year, I’m delighted by the fairy tulip fields. Shapes, colours... A joy for the eyes and our cameras !

Sandra Uechi

Beautiful. About 70% of the tulips were in blossom. Going in the middle of the week was a great way to beat the crowd. Took lots of pictures and loved the beauty of seeing so many types of tulips.

Galina Tserkovny

Loved the park! So lush, green, well maintained. Exceptional views. Very nice stroll.

Kathryn Foss

Beautiful park right beside Dow’s Lake. Home to the major part of the annual Tulip Festival. Come for a walk, ride, a picnic or even just to relax. There are a lot of access points to the park, although during peak seasons finding parking can be challenging. I haven’t visited the park during winter so this is a fair weather review.

Marianne M

The tulips were lovely this year, but they've posted their peak for anyone thinking of going to see (May 21, 2021). The ice cream was purchased at Dows Lake Pavilion.

Carlos Sotomayor

Nice a big lake for canoeing is just there!!

Shirin Tahir Khawaja

We visited it on Victoria Day long weekend Saturday. The park was still not in its full bloom, though tomorrow is festival's last official day :(. We went on a day trip for this festival from Brampton, Toronto to Ottawa; was it really worth 9 hours drive...3 out of 5 only if you have not seen so many colorful tulips together at one place ever in ur life like us, then yes you can visit this. Tulips are spreed across 1 km worth of area in different pavilions; say 45 mins of good brisk walk and you can easily complete the entire visit with taking pictures, unless u want to take so many pictures in each pavilion. Good for all age groups, easy access of tulips. Paid parking facility is available near by for $15. Food stalls are available around the park. Portables n clean toilets are available around with lots of sanitizers ????. In short if you are visiting Ottawa for something else then a quick 1 hour stop to see Tulip Festival is worth your time but going all the way for this only like we did...not highly recommended. There needs to be some more creativity to showcase those lovely colorful flowers rather then just putting them them in simply one way across different pavilions only.

João Guilherme Nizer Rahmeier

An awesome place to visit during the summer. Be aware of the Tulip Festival, it is beautiful!

Alaaeddin Ali

Fantastic place to enjoy plenty of Tulips ! A great place to take a walk by the canal , as well. Enjoy !

Catherine Oliver

Nice long paths for walking. The Tulips are something to see. Great photo ops between the tulips and the Rideau river. Easy to socially distance.

unsapien2009

A wonderful place to walk around. Everybody always mentions to tulips in the spring, but after the tulips are gone they have many other flowers to take their place for the rest of the summer & fall. Also a very nice view of Dow's lake.

Foxx Greeley

Wonderful park for a walk or a run. I'm not one for running truthfully but theres benches available too :)

A

They state every year that this park holds the most tulips in Ottawa. It’s been 3 years in a row including this year that we come to visit and we are disappointed, more so this year. It’s a great park, don’t get me wrong. Park gets 5 stars but the tulip festival. Can’t call it a festival when you have two beds of tulips while the rest is soil and stems. This year was a disaster. There was a small patch of tulips beside the chateau hotel that had several colours and blooming! Sadly we were already leaving and couldn’t stop. The festival is a joke just to attract more tourists to spend money at food trucks, activities and some food stalls like drinks and candy. It’s always so crowded with no parking and everyone pushing each other to take a picture.

Fernando Taglisie

Lovely park, tulips early this year, beds near Dow's Lake are hopping and popping! Other beds further from Dow's Lake are slower to flower, should be spectacular later on.

Hue Bui

Beautiful parc, especially during the Tulip Festival.

Arsh Aneja

Lovely place to spend time in all season.. Very nice spot.. Specially in summer. Because of tulips and greenery.. One can spend whole day here.. Taking pictures and in winters too. Close to canal perfect spot for skating. Have skate rentals nearby.. You would love to spend time here.. Have lot of parking space too.. Little expensive but parking close to park.. So will be happy.. Have fun enjoy all the festivals

Alfina Lavigne

It was incredible. Especially on tulip festival..

Murilo Romulo

Very nice park, tulip gardens were beautiful. Nice view of the lake too.

Oliver Waddington

Definitely been a bit busier as of late, overall quite well connected to the various pathways of the city. Bring a mask just in case

Jason Chapman

Love taking the family here. Great space with lots of walking trails and nice scenery. Really close to a lot of restaurants and shops too.

Lisa Arsenault

This is such a great place to go for a walk with your kids of pets. Been coming here for years.

Rebeka Rollocks

Beautiful park for a walk or bike ride. You can rent a paddle boat at the marina and take a leisurely ride on the Rideau Canal. Come by early May to enjoy the tulips.

Patrick Dean

When the flowers are out it's a great place. They should be early this year given the fantastic weather we are having ????

Kevin Smith

Picturesque park with large shade trees near a lake. Saw some wonderful tulips here and enjoyed a calm Sunday morning stroll.

YASSER aa

I lived close to this park. I was visiting this park everyday. Perfect if you want to exercise walking or biking. Or just setting and relaxing.

Sabrina Paez-Parent

Great park by the water that is incredibly clean of trash and bird mess. The traffic the goes by is slow and not very loud.

Amit Mishra

Never Lets you down ...Pride of Ottawa and every year its gets better and better

Rawnok Alam Barsha

Amazing park with views of lake and kids friendly. A great place to walk, relax, take pictures and enjoying yourselves.

Sepali Samanmali

Very beautiful place with water front...Tulip are yet to blossom fully but you can see colorful tulip all over the park...

Stephanie M

Awesome, beautiful park! We visited this park during the tulip festival and it was loaded with tulips (I heard around 300k bulbs were planted here).

Mia Harty

An obviously gorgeous area to walk/bike/run/sit. Less traffic early morning and weekdays! Tulips are in full swing this year and are so delightful, a wide range of colours and all over the area of Dow's Lake.

RON Thibodeau

It follows a portion of the Rideau at Bayer's Lake. A beautiful established residential neighborhood. Rely on nearby curbside parking if driving. We visit annually for the Tulip festival. Tulips provided by the Netherlands in appreciation for the role Canada played during WW2.

Seeing the world In a different way

Commissioners park is a must see location to see beautiful tulips and other seasonal flowers. The tulip flower has special meaning as Canada, Ottawa, provided safe haven to the Netherlands royalty during German occupation in WWII. Also in the park you will see the Man with two hats, this too is a sign of appreciation and friendship between Canada and the Netherlands. The monument has symbolic duality meaning with the two hats, such as; celebration and war, happiness and sorrow. You can also enjoy looking out at Dows Lake. If you like my photos, reviews or videos give them a tulips thumbs up

Ragavendra SenthilKumar Kannaiyan

????Tulip show was the highlight. Had lot of options for snacks. Very limited rest rooms for the crowd. Temporary arrangements for parking was good.

Ahmed Raoof

One of most beautiful parks in Ottawa. It does have flower beds, nice walk trails, and lovely view on Dow's lake. My only take is there's not enough parking spaces.

Pinky R

The Tulip Festival is on! Just a beautiful site to see all those tulips in one park. The park is lovely, as is the area around it. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful day of sun and blooms!

Mary McEwen

Fabulous place to take interesting photos or go for a walk or a bike ride

Sonal John

A beautiful park to visit. Well maintained and close to the river. Loved the atmosphere and lots to click ????

Dane Merritt

Always busy during events! Usually lots of people making use of the trails. Plenty of nice trails and beautiful flower beds. Preston st is closeby so you can snag a snack. And ofc the Tulip Festival each year!

Alex Boyce

Great park for a nice Sunday afternoon stroll. Don't forget the Arboretum too

Leonid Chukhovsky

It's a good park, nice area to walk and enjoy good weather. Avoid it during tulips festival week, too many people and not sure what the hype is all about. It would be better without road in the middle of it, more benches and areas to get some rest, but one can't have it all.

Morris Levy

Always a lovely walk around the park and Dow's Lake. Beautiful flora, quiet water, some nice choices for dining, and if you want to kayak or paddle boat, the option is there to rent some out.

Katya Linkov

Beautiful place to visit Tulip Festival in Ottawa

YJ Isaac Jeong

It was still very beautiful and nice to walk around this area even not in Tulip Festival season.

Hallam Carter

Just a beautiful park to share with someone you love.

Meghan S

Beautiful park to see the Tulip Festival! We really enjoyed our walk. Can't be beat for a family or friends excursion on a sunny day! :)

Daniel P-L

Beautiful park with winding trails along meticulously planted gardens. Beautiful and Serene. I am a bit sad I missed the tulip festival on this visit but I visited it as a child and it made me a tulip lover for life. Definitely a must see. Thanks for the memories.

Louis-Philippe Arsenault

The park is nice and there's beautiful flowers after the Tulip Festival

Eman Vistro

Lovely and well maintained park displaying tulips in season. Worth the trip!

Michael Bierstock

A beautiful park to come visit when you are in Ottawa. Be sure to come during the tulip festival - the park looks absolutely stunning with all the colours!

William Bernal

Definitely it is a beautiful place to walk and watching lovely flowers in spring time

Parbh Grover

So calm and beautiful to have alone time or a family time out

Baljeet Singh

Great place for a walk/bike/jog.

GEOFFREY GIBBS

Tulips were in full bloom. No cost to see the gardens you simply need to find a place to park. I have lived in Ottawa on and off for many years but never saw the tulip festival. Glad I did.

srinivasa srikanth

After tulip festival. Nice place to visit

Larry Korba

This park is close to my place in the Glebe. I was coming home after an appointment at the Civic Hospital. I am always amazed by the wave of calm flows through me while walking down the walkways routed amount the old trees and the tulip beds. Was ch out for cyclists who use the walkways as well. Unfortunately, some of th m travel far too fast, weaving around pedestrians.

Adam Bainbridge

Tulip Fest 2021! Gorgeous!!!!

Robin Rankin

A beautiful spot for a walk along the canal or to admire the tulips in spring.

Kamilla Riabko

A lovely place for a walk, even during COVID times. People are respectful and give each other space when they pass each other. Lots of cute dogs to see too! Can’t wait for the tulips to bloom.

Tom Giddings

Not a city park. Part of the NCC's show place for flowers. A highlight is the Tulip beds along the paved path -- part of the Tulip Festival every spring. After the tulips the NCC refreshes the planting area regularly until the winter . Unfortunately, the paved paths are not plowed during the snow season. Does Lake us just across the road

Scott Parsons

Lovely sunny Saturday. My wife and I had lunch at the Heart and Crown pub off Preston, then went to the park by Dow's Lake to walk and sightsee. enjoyable experience.

Priyanka Ramanand Pai

Scenic views of the Dow's Lake and the excellent tulip beds make for a beautiful walk. When the sun is up, the entire place becomes warmer and charming AF. There is a simple route to enter the Arboretum from behind the boating pavilion, and the red chairs by the lake provide seating for the exhausted.

Michelle Villemaire

My German Shepherd and I love this park we come herr 4days a week and it's always worth the 20min drive ????????

Cherry Sin

Great flowers' pavements. I wish there would be more other species of tulips next year.

Natalie Massicotte

Well taken care of waterfront greenspace. Benches to sit and look at the water and extravagant houses to look at and admire if that's your thing. The tulip festival in May is lovely but ridiculously busy and crowded on evenings and weekends.

KM

We enjoy this festival every year and recommend it to all. Enjoy.

Valérie Dubé

Very nice park, places to sit and enjoy the view, paved paths, lots of shade, super well maintained.

Pedro Roney

I had a great walk in this park. A nice view of the lake with a lot of tranquility. Great outdoor activity for those who enjoy nature.

Jennifer D'amours Chevalier

What a beautiful park. It was the tulip festival when I was there.

Ekklesia Tam

Tulips are the best in the spring time!!

nilm

This is very close to Dows lake. Had been visiting this place since last 15 years. Worth visiting during tulip festival.

Khushnaz K

Very peaceful and beautiful park. Admiring the stunning houses along Queen Elizabeth Drive and nearby lanes while on your walk is an additional bonus.

Rachelle Langlois

Always beautiful going there to see the tulips. Not everyone was wearing masks, but wasn't as crowded as it usually is which was nice.

Amir Yadghar

I went there for the tulip festival. It was good, but could be way better.

Amir Koosha

Lots of different flowers with different colours and combinations. It worth visiting once.

Your Yeye

Enjoyed it! But there are some tips for you: dont come here at the end of the tulip festival, because all the tulips are withered...????

Tori Elliott

Nice place to take your kids or go for a bike ride. Loud construction nearby atm, but hopefully that clears up soon.

Michael Kulchycki

Excellent social distancing, well manucured lawn/gardens, ample parking, great photo opportunities with the bridge, lighthouse, Pier, hockey arena, gazebo and credit River.

carrie k

Lovely green park with well-tended flower beds and lots of shade. Close to Dow's Lake. Great for picnics! :)

Jason Patrick Olynyk

Was there for Tulip Festival very nice, but not enough water fountains

David Thomas

It was such a good treat for eyes and soul. I highly recommend this to every one who is visiting Ottawa during early spring

Chris Hulugu

Great park for kids... aside from few bad apples smoking weed and drinking.. I made peace with downtown parks.

Culzean1

Location of the Red Maple Grove ADF tree circle. Incredible old oak trees and an area that blossoms with colour in the spring during the Tulip Festival.

Heather Croner

Only a few tulips were left over but it was still wonderful just to walk through!

Mad Lucio

I came here for the first time recently with my love and it was fantastic. Beautiful Autumn day and an amazing little nature pocket in the midst of the city ????

Bee Fone

Very nice park adjacent to Dows Lake. Come here all the time in the morning or after supper for a walk and really enjoy it. Flowers and Tulips presented every summer.

Zee Man

Beautiful park to walk thru, tulips are everywhere. Next to daws lake in the middle of the city . Takes to some nice houses near buy if you like to look at houses.
