Aquino tank weekend is the best experience! Rare working tanks in action with lots of professional people, that are kind! Tank rides and much more for the family! One of the best events Canada
What an experience. We were given a full tour by Bill. He was informative and friendly. My wife and I enjoyed it and my son loved all of the tanks and armoured vehicles. We will definitely be back soon. Everyone should come out and see the Ontario Regiment Museum.
Fantastic array of tanks, light armored vehicles, and specialized army vehicles. With over 65 vehicles indoors and more outside it was am impressive display. Bill, our tour guide knew every vehicle's name, make, origin, and what war it was used in. Wow! Thank you!
Would certainly have regretted for the rest of my life if I had decided not to go. Had the best time ofy life seeing tanks in action and hearing first-hand stories from a Master Corporal. Thanks, Keith, for spending so much time with this guy who learned so much from you!
Best tank experience in Canada. I recommend you to stay around when everyone is gone to watch them park the tanks.
So it's cool to see stuff in a museum and get some history learnt... But when the history comes to life, and rumbles around weighing over 20 tons... Then the real fun starts. Went to the Winter Warfare Tank Saturdays and it was a ton of fun. I couldn't stop smiling when the M60 rolled by. Will definitely be visiting in the spring, summer and fall.
The event they put on was great. Really enjoyed looking at the vehicles with my sons who were impressed that I have been in some of them. We will definitely return again.
I love this museum. I'm not exactly a history or tank buff but they present the material in a way that engages everyone. These people love their jobs and each other and it shows through their programming. I'm eagerly anticipating the end of this lockdown so I can take my son there.
great presentation, very informative! this trip was extremely worthy. Hope to see the rolling vehicles next time????
Best armour museum in Canada. As an ex-tanker it was like coming home. Smells of dust and diesel. Real working tanks and AFV's. Brought me back to the regimental lines in Calgary and Edmonton.
Great day today at Winter Warfare event. Cold but worth it.
Great place to see military memorabilia heavy armor, weaponry and learn some Canadian history. Pro Patria!!
A definite must on the annual Aquino tank weekend.
One of a kind hidden gem. Not just a museum but fully functioning tanks!
Love the assortment of Military history they have here. Seeing the vehicles up close and in person is a great experience.
Great facility, outstanding and knowledgeable team members, the tank Saturdays are a must see, and they have a very impressive collection of tanks and vehicles! A must see for any prior military, historians or families with a child who likes tanks or big trucks!
Visited it as a group of upcoming officers in the Armoured Corps. Absolutely amazing. The volunteers are so helpful and know a lot about every single tank there. Theres also a small museum full of all the history of Canadas armoured Corps. Would 100% reccomend it to anyone wanting a cool experience.
This is an amazing museum that every history or military buff should check out. Their tank Saturdays are not to be missed as you can see actual working examples of military vehicles from as far back as world war 2. I went to the last one of the season and it was a great show, they even fire blank shells through the guns so you can a taste of what it takes a like, there was even some simulated tank combat. Great for the kids, but might want to consider hearing protection for the little ones, it can get loud.
My friends and I attended the Tank Armageddon event that capped off their 2019 tank show calendar and it was a lot of fun. The museum offers a really wide array of armored vehicles and the tank show was definitely a really cool experience, not only hearing and seeing the tanks roll by but feeling it with your whole body. Oh and they have free ear plugs they give away just in case your forget to bring your own.
My son is a history lover and military history is his favorite. The people are happy to share their knowledge and the tanks are incredible as well as the other displays of uniforms and miniatures. Great way to make history come alive.
An incredible collection of armoured fighting vehicles and vintage main battle tanks.
Had a great time. The only suggestion would be to add info on the different vehicles as not everyone is an expert in all the time periods you have machines from.
Had a good time at the museum. The best part was the tank show. Real moving amazing tanks. The staff is friendly.
There was allot more here then expected. Drove to visit from 3 hours away and was not disappointed.
My son loves here. He bought a tank. Hahaha
I can't begin to tell you how much I enjoyed my visit today. We took part in doors open Oshawa and spent our afternoon at the museum. Thanks to Jim and Dan they took time out to take us around to all the tanks and shared so many stories and information about the tanks it really was remarkable. Can't wait to take part in the events they have on weekends. Definitely a must see when in Oshawa!!
Great tour, very knowlegable staff. I was able to reflect on my own service from 1968 to 1972 in the Windsor Regiment.
Amazing venue full of history. Every Canadian should visit and learn about the history of our great nation. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tanks on display are incredible!
Very cool museum, lots to see all neatly packed into this living museum. The people working there were super nice although they did follow kind of close which may be protocol, I don't know. Definitely going to make a return trip and take in some of the events they put on during the year. There is a lot of information to take in especially for a gear head like me! Check it out, highly recommend!
This place is must to see if you like military history. I went to live show when was on display various military vehicles and tanks from WWII to modern. Was amazing to see tanks driving by and engaged with simulated battle.
I thoroughly enjoyed escorting our cub pack through the museum. Our guide was impressively knowledgeable.
Cool tanks, guns, medals and uniforms. Bit lacking in the tanks though. Good, friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Went to one of their tank Saturdays. Was awesome. For ~$10 I saw a T-55 crush an old car, as well as their fascinating other vehicles
I have lived in Oshawa or at least in the area for most of my life and this was my first visit this summer. It was fabulous. I was so impressed with the knowledge of the tour guide, which he did in french btw. I highly recommend. So much history.
Good family entertainment for those interested. Helpful staff who were there to fill in additional information. Cool vehicles from various eras and most of them in very good condition. The tanks are a great draw, but don't overlook the small but informative museum about the Canadian Army in general.
Great experience. We went for the tank Saturday and it was fun. The live show is very cool and you get to see they demo a battle at war. Highly recommend to go and check it out.
Considering all the Covid 19 restrictions we had a fantastic, educational and safe feeling experience! Would recommend for sure
It is quite and nice place. You can visit with your family. Children like it.
Great place to visit to see some of the history of our Canadian Military forces
Huge fully functioning tanks !!!
It's the largest collection of operational military vehicles in Canada. I also like that the museum is actually a hangar, makes me feel more close and personal to the tanks in relation to other museums where everything is restricted.
I am a absolute huge fan of war stuff and these guys unxpectedly have TANKS lots and lots of TANKS and they even DRIVE THEM IN A SHOW!! it is the ut most coolest museum i have ever been to for war time relics.
Great experience at the Tank Fest
See you in the tanks was really cool and watching the reenactment with the tanks and soldiers was awesome to hear and see. The biggest disappointment for me was not seeing World of Tanks there. No Booth nobody to really talk to about it nothing. But other than that it was really cool to see everything else.
Fantastic experience with knowledgeable and helpful staff. A Ton of tanks amd they all run!! Excellent value and will be returning in the future. Our 3 kids also enjoyed it.
Loved the battle reenactment. Great work to all putting this together. Nice seeing Andrew scheer there opening ceremony
Great experience and a great representation of Canada’s history of wars. They have many different tanks and vehicles.
Went to the Aquino Tank Weekend, we only got to see the Saturday show. My god everything was amazing, the live re-enactment was hands down the best re-enactment I have ever witnessed in my life. All of the different tanks and vehicles that they had to offer was mind blowing. They had a kids zone which did not offer me any use but when I walked by it and every kid in there was having a blast so it had to of been worth it for them. I plan to try and go to all of there events after the amount of effort and thought that goes into their shows is amazing and to top it off EVERYONE EXCEPT FOR 2 MEMBERS ARE ALL VOLUNTEERS ABSOLUTLEY MIND BLOWING. AMAZING JOB BY EVERY MEMBER AND VOLUNTEER HATS OFF YOU EVERYONE WHO HAD ANY PART IN THIS EVENT.
Very cool. A must see if in this area.
Great experience. Small museum. Suggest to go during their tank Saturday which showcase some of the tanks and fired some shots. Purchased Groupon as well which makes the entire trip even more affordable.
Aquino Tank Weekend. I felt honored to be able to watch so much action put on accurately and respectfully. I am normally somewhat shy, but I could not resist talking to so many facinating experts. Thank you so much to all the volunteers and sponcers. Get grandstand seats!
The exhibits can be pretty cool to look at there's a lot of really fun stuff here can be very educational family friendly kid friendly we're definitely bring everybody here really makes you realize the things that some Canadians have to do to provide us with the life that we have today God bless these people
One of the best museum's I have ever visited. To see tanks driving around, every getting the opportunity to ride in them is fantastic.
Good place to see old tanks displayed here.
Aquino Tank Weekend was a blast! Every moment was thrilling, from reenactments (especially the WW2 one) to the M113 ride. I'm sure that I'll visit again, and buy a model kit. The thing is, I purchased a model M3 Lee for a mind-blowing $20, thinking that it would be easy to assemble. When I opened it, i could tell it was shabbily made. It was a poorly-adapted RC tank, as the switch and battery compartment were all still there. The 37mm was bent, flimsy, and tacky, and the rubber tracks were misshapen and cheap. That's before I looked deeper. As I started to assemble it, I noticed a huge mistake. The bogey attaches to the wheels by running the axle through a hole in the wheels. The thing is, on half the wheels, the holes were far too small! (not to mention, there were tiny plastic flakes, the kind that comes from poorly-formed plastic). I resorted to sitting in my garage for half an hour drilling proper sized holes and using an x-acto knife to shave off excess plastic! Talk about an "easy build!" Pah!
Awesome time watching Tank Saturday to commemorate and honour the service and sacrifices of our Canadian Armed Forces during the Afghanistan mission ( 2001 – 2014 ).
Great experience for history buffs and military enthusiasts alike. Various artefacts and vehicles to see. Knowledgeable staff to explain important periods in both Canadian, and World History. Great price as well, definitely worth a visit.
Lots of great exhibits and more tanks than expected. Volunteers are very knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely worth going on one of the event days, as they have tanks driving around a course outside. Apparently almost every vehicle in the museum is operational!
An amazing experience. They have a ton of artifacts, tanks and vehicles, and guns. The displays are really detailed, and the tour guides very knowledgeable. A place that the kids will love too.
This was an awesome experience! I went to the museum on the day they had tanks and other armored vehicles driving around and was sponsored by world of tanks! Very very cool and happy to be included on such a fantastic display. The museum is a bit small but it's filled with the coolest stuff ever!
Had a fantastic day at their Canada at War tank show and displays. This is a well equipped museum for young and old to experience and help remember our past and be thankful for all of those past and present and future military personnel keeping us safe!!!! The volunteers do an amazing job help keep this museum going.
Awesome collection of tanks & vehicles, big shoutout to John, great guy, and veteran. He could tell us about all the tanks.
A great place to take the family to on a weekend for some Military History. One of the greatest Armoured Vehicles Collections in any given hanger. A must visit location. Please support their new building initiative by donating a few spare bucks!
Fantastic place. Lots of history and aways collecting more to improve the "time line" of our military. Looking forward to their tank Saturdays when they bring out the tanks!
Awesome Museum to visit. Great cause. Staff do a great job with attention to detail, its the small ones that make a big difference. Thanks!
love all the running tanks and visiting during Aquino weekends
Amazing collection of armored vehicles and tanks. The staff are amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend it for a family visit. Takes about an hour to tour the facility.
Awesome museum with lot of history and information. The staff is also really nice and friendly. There is an entry fee for adults, seniors and children. Follow there Facebook page for upcoming events.
Real cool place for the historically minded. Very complete collection of (working) tanks and war memorabilia. Well worth a tour. Easy to find as well. Run by many enthusiastic volunteers.
One of the best military/tank museums in the world!
I usually go there when they have a major event, but their collection of armor is great and they usually have events throuout summer. Highly recommended for military history enthusiasts.
I was a volunteer at the May 27 - 28 Aquino Tank Weekend, and I was blown away (pun intended) by the event. Anyone having an interest in military history would be thrilled to see the museum displays, the many lovingly restored vehicles from WWII to the Gulf War, and speak with knowledgeable military personnel both active and retired. Live tank battle shows each day with lots of noisy explosives, the chance to purchase rides on various tanks, and a very friendly atmosphere make for a great time. Very well organized; food and souvenir vendors and a medic tent with EMS on site. Live brass band and parade at Opening Ceremonies. Plan to attend next year! In the meantime check out their Tank Saturdays - second Saturday of the summer months. Better than a history book!
Excellent armored museum with a friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Historical Museum in Oshawa! Wasnt aware of this gem earlier. They do enactment shows every now and then.. would be a great treat for kids and Military enthusiasts.. Its a great collection of memoirs Ontario Regiments inception in 1866.. WW1 to WW2 to all way yo Iraq! I havent seen as many tanks in any other Museum in Canada.. not even in Ottawa! The team at the Museum is very helpful and always willing to give you a Thorough Tour even if its a group of 2-3 people.. Sad Part....I was surprised to know that they dont get any funding from the government to maintain the Museum.
Hidden gem of museum containing a sizable collection of working military vehicles, that are operated. Great for a visit as part learning about the history that helped develop Canadian identity. Also great for the car or vehicle restoration enthusiast. All the vehicles are maintained and operated by volunteers.
About the most down to earth knowledgeable crew I have ever seen. Happy to share stories and expertise on any one of their 140 + military vehicles
My son love this place.. To much war games in spare time.Lol All real machines and live demos. I hope soon all war things to stay in the books as written bad memories.
Went for the Aquino Tank Weekend, and it was fantastic! They have so much cool stuff. Can't wait to visit again.
One of the most amazing experiences of my life 100% recommend this place it is well well worth the money. They have an awesome charity going to help disabled or folks of age to able to get in tanks called project up lift. Once in a lifea time experience.
A hidden gem in there North end of Oshawa tucked behind the executive airport. If your are a WWII or military history buff, this is a place you want to visit. They have a large collection of vintage (and working!) tanks as well as a smallish musuem with some unique artifacts. If you visit try and come to one of their signature events like Tanks Saturday or the larger Aquino tank weekend.
Anyone who enjoys military history and military equipment will appreciate this place. A wide array of machines to check out, and on Saturdays they feature live demonstrations.
Definitely worth the price of admission
Fun place to learn and explore military history along with Canada's largest amazing collection of operational military vehicles.
Was an excellent learning experience. Recommend bringing friends!
Was there for tank day in June had a blast will be back next year.
Had an amazing time at Aquino Tank Weekend.
We went to Aquino weekend. Great place for a family outing. We learned so much and had a quite enjoyable weekend. The staff & volunteers are to be commended for their hard work in putting together this wonderful experience. The re-enactments, the museum, the recreation of wartime encampments, and of course the tanks and military vehicles - it was all very well done.
Great to learn the history behind our armed forces. There are a lot of uniforms and gear on display. The best part though, are the tanks and other vehicles. Admission is very very reasonable.
So many small details, and the persons who work and volunteer there of stories and how the tank versions came about. The actual running in operations through the muddy track was quite impressive.
Amazing amounts of history all under one roof...
I was a tank officer in Taiwan before and riding a sherman tank is my dream! This place has amazing collections of tanks and we have a VIP sherman tank ride with my family. This amazing 1944 built sherman tank is still fully operational! The staffs are really friendly and care about safety. They gave my parents a ladder for them to easily climb up the tank. They explained the details of the tanks very well. Then we had 3 circles of tank rides and then we shuffled our positions in the tank. Then we had other 3 circles of tank rides ride again. Finally we took a bunch of pictures with the sherman and they help us take a bunch of videos/ pictures with our camera too. The total VIP experience takes about 1.5 hours. Truly amazing experience! I would recommend everyone who is interested in tanks go for a visit!
This place is great. Many Military vehicles from various parts of the world. Some are operational and can be seen running on the adjacent tank area on certain dates. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
Great place. Tank ride was awesome!!
From the outside it looks small, but once you go inside, it is chock full of historical goodies! Went for my son's birthday as he is a tank nut, and had the pleasure of being shown around by Dan. Dan knew so much about all the tanks and vehicles and even had some stories for us about the rest of the museum. Before we knew it, we had been there for almost 3 hours. Made my son's day! Entrance price is cheap, and my son even got in free because he is an active cadet, he had his I.D. with him. Was cool to see the vehicles being worked on while we were touring too. Souvenirs were reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend for history buffs.
Amazing tank show - those are all real moving tanks. It was definitely worth a trip from Ottawa. Yet, it seems, what they are going to have there on Jun 9/10 during the AQUINO TANK weekend will be even more impressive.
Great place to learn the history of local Regiment. Large selection of military vehicles from jeeps to tanks and everything in between. Worth the visit.
Great experience and very cheap. Go when they have shows to experience noise, smell and power of armor in addition to ask there is in museum! ????
Tank Saturday is great fun for the family! (interest in military history is not required) I took my 9 year old daughter and she loved riding in the tracked vehicles and seeing the massive tanks up close. We brought a lunch and really enjoyed the show, especially the mock battle between the M60 and the Leopard (which was a special presentation the day we attended)
History in action. Enjoyed Tank Day
Awesome display I've nicely restored vehicles.
I was very pleased with the exhibit's, but it was the people that really set my experience soaring. Multiple volunteers/workers approached us and gave us information and stories. They went out of their way to give me an incredible visit that was priceless. I cant give thanks enough. Two of the gentlemen I spoke with went above and beyond to show me and tell me history and engineering involved in the tanks. They even fueled my obsession with Humvees. I'm very grateful for my experience, and will be coming back and bringing my nephews. I just hope the guys I spoke with will be there so I can thank them again. Well done! Cheers
Great way to spend the day the tanks were awesome.
Great collection and very knowledgeable staff.
The museum was very good. I would recommend it to people who are interested in military history. There are not many places where you can see tanks up close. Best to go on a day when they are running the tanks.
Amazing. Aquino Tank day is fantastic.????
Super exiting place for family visit.
I recently visited this site a month or so ago, and the service was excellent, with many great relics and tour guides who really understood the origins of each item, and gave informative and fun facts about everything inside. A must see if you live in oshawa and have an appreciation for military history.
I believe it's one of the most extensive collections of operational tanks in N. America. You should definitely come out to see their once-a-month live shows. You might want to bring ear plugs.
If you are interested in history and tanks, you must visit the museum on a tank Saturday. It is on the 2nd Saturday of every month from May to October. You get a entry to the museum included with the tank 'show' It's a reenactment of past wars, you get a lot of information on tanks, where they were used, my whom and when and their use. They also do a fun tank v. tank contest. It is quite fun. The museum has way more artifacts than I anticipated. It you want the ultimate Tank experience, you can, for a fee, ride in a tank. Bring earplugs, especially for the little ones!
If you are a scale model and a tank enthusiast like me, you would love this place. Here are a few of the photos I took from the last two AQUINO tank weekend events.
One of the best museum to discover the tanks in Canada
Best place to experience these war machines up close. Staffs are friendly and kids love it!
Such a great place for tanks and army vehicles ”lovers”. All staff very friendly, they love what they do!!! If I could live closer ...I would love to volunteer there... this museum is “full of history” plus ...tanks Saturdays oh yes! Great show!!! My next step for 2019 is experience the tank ride!!! Thank you for a great show and see you soon!
Visited for Tank Weekend and had a blast! Everyone was so nice and explained each vehicle so someone with no knowledge or experience could understand. My dad, who was in the military, also had a great time. I loved speaking with the veteran volunteer in the museum. He told me all about the women who built bombs and ammunition in Ajax during the war. This was a great place to take my boyfriend's nine-year-old son. Loved it!
The best place to go for history and military interested people. The tanks are so close and you won't regret! Look for their live battle events!
What an amazing job preserving our history! Well worth a visit!
Great museum! Lots of tanks and military vehicles.
great knowledgeable staff good place to see some history
Small but fascinating museum. Not many tanks on display in the winter, but they're in the process of building a larger building for the tanks. Guided tour was very informative and all staff were very friendly and helpful.
Great place to learn about Canadian military they food on site and live military vehicles display
Had a lot of fun and quite interesting. Those tanks are unbelievable
Aquino weekend is the best celebration of the year. Two days, three battles each. Kids absolutely love radio controlled tanks action.
Great family outing. Very educational. Staff took time to explain to our grandkids the tank shows are reinactments. Kids were relieved once understanding about what they watched. Tank rides were so much fun. Suggestion- ear plugs. extremely loud.
Huge (maybe largest in Canada) collection of Tanks, Armored Vehicles (all of them are operational!!!) and various military equipment/weaponry. Not as fancy as federal museums, but definitely has more items. Big potential if properly funded. Ticket price are very low too (5$ per person). Worth every penny yiu leave there
TANKS. They have many. A national treasure, this volunteer-run museum has North America's largest selection of operational armor. The volunteers are enthusiastic and knowledgeable, with many of them having personal experience working on the vehicles. They have a number of operational recreations you won't find elsewhere.
Good place to visit on tank day when the tanks demo happens
Very interesting place, will definitely be going back to see more. Staff were very knowledgeable on the different tanks and military vehicles. A lot of good artifacts and stories in the museum hall. If you like militarily history I highly recommended going.
An excellent museum, I would recomend a visit to anyone. The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable, passionate and engaging. We learned so much and had a great time doing it. Drove from NB to visit and we weren't disappointed. Already looking forward to a return trip.
This place is a treat to visit. It has an amazing, surprisingly large collection of tanks and military vehicles.
A nice collection of artifacts and working mechanized vehicles. The largest working collection in North America The last show of the year was fun to watch along with the crushing of the car. The volunteers were helpful and experienced. A definite place to visit. Tank Saturdays are always a joy to attend.
