We have the information of real people who used the products and services of Bass Lake Provincial Park (Tourist Attraction) near to the area of Orillia (Canada).
At the moment the business has a rating of 4.4 out of 5 and that rating is based on 127 reviews.
As you can see its rating is quite high, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the assessment is very credible. If people have bothered to rate when they are satisfied, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to put scores when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction is included in the category of Park.
Great camp ground not too far north, clean beach, easy boat launch access. Always enjoy spending a weekend up here
We love this place, campsites are large and security is good, no loud weekenders.
Excellent Camp ground..well maintained
Clean, well maintained sites. Nice swimming area. Clean comfort stations and clean toilets. Good trails and nice scenery.
Fabulous place. However, if you don't like spiders, don't go. There is an unusually high amount there.
I was very disappointed that the park ranger had to stop at our site because he seen dead twigs inside the fire pit that we had the kids collect.....It was all twigs that were on the ground and already off the trees and he had to tell us if we need kindle to buy it at the registration desk and that the kids are not allowed to collect the dead twigs around our site :( Disappointed
Great place for a snowshoe! Lovely trails.
We went there for a day-visit so did not have enough time to explore this park. However, drove around in park. There is a trailer park and also beach area for swimming. The water is clear and the sandy beach ????️ is a great place to relax and enjoy a swim. There are also bicycle paths. I highly recommend you to visit this park. It is also very close the Grand Bend Beach.
Lovely lake. Did a late day trip from Barrie(4pm-8pm) had fun canoeing, fishing (not a bite) and BBQ on the beach. Nice to know there's a peaceful lake like this so close to home.
A great campground but we never even saw a fish, let alone catch any. If you don't care about fishing, this is a great place!
great park and clean facilities. I'll definitely return. The beach is a little small but the well kept.
Awesome weather and campsite was clean. Lots of room and great neighbours. Lots of kids and dogs.
It's a nice park with some decent sized lots however it is a very small park. It's great for a weekend getaway with the family but not to spend any long lengths of time there. It has one hiking trail that is maybe 3 KM long. Not much to do inside the park. As for the beach, its very clean and sandy, no weeds at all. However it's very small and tons of smelly water snails floating around. The bathrooms more often than not had no soap and ran out of toilet paper every few hours and took staff a while to replace. Overall its a decent park with friendly staff but not worth a 4 or 5 hour drive.
Small place to camp not much to do
We would definitely camp there
Went paddling. 1 kayak, 1 sup. Bay to the left of the boat launch very nice and calm, but basically everywhere else the waters were suuuper choppy. Wind was estimated at 13kph, so FYI there. Otherwise good place, water was a nice temp and looked clear and clean
It was a nice get-away close to the Toronto. Close proximity to Orillia. Nice camp sites-if a tad close to one another. The premises and bathrooms were clean and the firewood dry. The only negative is that overnight their is no one to deal with rowdy neighbors. I called from Hillside Campground at 9:45 pm and asked for a drive-by to quite some loud newcomers. I was told by the staff member at the front gate that someone would be by and no one came. At 11:00 I dealt with it myself. Definitely something to be aware of after hours-you are on your own unless you want to call the OPP!!
Very nice water, big camping site with good privacy
Have only used the beach. Beach and water was clean, parking right beside beach area. Lots of space for family fun all day.
Amazing place. Clear water, good facilities. Busy, though.
They didn't let us in because of covid. But for 43 $ you can buy a camping site pass and go in. Ridiculous. Very disappointing.
I always come here with my church for our annual beach trip. The park is always well kept and clean. Renting the side houses are always easy to do. The beach is lovely to swim in. And the walking trail is beautiful to take a stroll.
Nice campground ; would be 5 stars if it was a bit cleaner...litter is a real problem throughout, and in particular the beach areas.
Bass Lake Provincial Park is a lovely campsite with friendly park staff. The beach is large and the water is clean, and nearby trails offer fantastic hiking for individuals or families.
Camped here last year, great place.
Actually quite a nice little park with good privacy, roomy campsites, good tree coverage, and some room to cycle plus a small beach. Nice find so close to the city.
Ridiculous to charge 13.00 for extra vehicle on your site. It's paid for why the need for extra charge. Doesn't the government make enough money off of us? A friend came to visit for 1 hr. And received a 30.00 parking ticket. Meanwhile people from outside were able to park and walk through the park for free.
This place is beautiful and amazing as well. If you love nature, this location is perfect for you!
The road got to slippery and my bike ended up slippinf causing me to fall with no help for 10minutes and now i have a scar on my leg from that so i say to bass Lake pave your roads and not have gravel
Nice, quaint beach area. The water is pleasant and fairly clean.
Did not stop here. Just drive past on the 15th sideroad. Too close to town for us to want to stop and too many homes right beside.
Lots of bugs, camp sites are nothing but dirt, and after labour day nothing is open in park including office/store. A very quiet park. But the lake view is nice.
Went here whilst on vacation. Decided an afternoon out by the water and on the beach.. paid $14 entrance fee at 12, 25 minutes later we left.. There was 5 dead fish laying on the beach getting eaten by birds.. Dead birds laying on the beach, cigarette butts and what looked like medal shrapnel in the sand.. We left ASAP. Disgusted, waste of money. Won't EVER return.
Super park. Good camping spots. Well treed. Good swimming. Easy to get to from the city.
Great park, close and easy to get to from Barrie. Very well maintained and park and beach were excellent for the kids! Walking paths and facilities were good. Washrooms could use a light indoors at night but otherwise great sites. Lots of space, doesn't feel too cramped
Great PP near Orillia, great size sites, private and tandem options that are nice.
Clean park. Camped here and went for day visit separately. Very clean. Great beach. Sites are average. Sadly no wildlife and safe from bears as the park is surrounded by large fence.
Our preferred camping spot is here... I won't tell you where lol! There is a small playground at the day swimming area. The washrooms are fairly well maintained most of the time... been too busy lately to enjoy it. We camp off season for relaxation and quiet.
We had went there August 5, 2018, and were treated very poorly by this beach and we will never return. This place is very racist and we could not even set up any of our things before we were asked to leave by the police & the park security for doing absolutely nothing wrong. The racist security who kicked us out was McLeoad who kicked us out purposely because we “allegedly”parked behind a paramedic vehicle that was not present in the area. Even if there was a paramedic vehicle it was not being used in an emergency because the lights were not being used to warn people there was an emergency. Many other vehicles that were unloading boats were parked beside it but we were the only ones to be evicted, we also got a ticket for $120 for parking almost 100 metres away to only unload our heavy luggage. We were all exhausted and were not given a warning before being evicted and the 7 kids were not able to eat anything. We drove there for 2 hours and we couldn’t even sit there for 30 minutes before they evicted us. We were told to leave the area within 30 minutes, we were threatened by this because she had called police to back her up. We were also travelling with an elderly woman (who is 75 years old) who was exhausted and couldn’t drink anything, which resulted her in fainting we had to take her to a hospital. She is still in the emergency . We were not treated fairly by this racist place and we will never forget this horrible experience. This is very disgusting how in Canada we were humiliated and treated like animals in front of 1000 people. We were not even talked to in private about this situation. I am 14 th years old. My sister is 9 years old. 4 of the kids are less than 10 years old. Our grandma is 75 years old.
Being a non reservation park after driving for 2 hrs, hoping if v go late there wld be people leaving enabling more visitors and opportunity to enjoy the day - was a fireback. Had to return after reaching at 330pm as park was full. When reservation is not permitted it wld be better if there's a time limit for visitors, so all can enjoy the park, given the lifestyle we need to embrace.
Excellent provincial park with very private trailer lots in the "Eastside" area as well as a very nice beach.
Best
Excellent lake for swimming, very warm and clear water. Friendly staff, and well kept camping sites.
Love this little park, great beach, big spots for tenting or trailers and very quiet. Highly recommended.
Quiet and clean. Only issue is the egomaniac park warden. He loves to pounce and lecture folks at the least infraction talking endlessly about park rules and policies. Also observed him to bully junior employees in the park office. No idea how this guy got this job!!! Spending at the park seems to be on high tech work toys and his new Dock in a Box system. Ignores maintenance issues like retrieving picnic tables which have been left in the water for over a year now.
Amazing.. less crowd and clean lake.. dint find it muddy... The water near the shore smelled slightly with all shells floating around but as you go a lil deeper, itc clean and very enjoyable to.play and swim ????????
Great group family camping
A great little park with trails, beach and playground. Really awesome for families with kids
Small lake with lovely hilly and tree lined view on the other side. With a provincial park with beach as well, it's not over run with cottages. There is not too much boat traffic so it's great for paddling boating the whole lake. But it is very shallow so it can get choppy out in the middle.
HIKING DAY COMPLETE WITH LAKE, BOARDWALK, HISTORICAL DATA, RUINS, WILDLIFE, AND SO MUCH MORE! Attended on a cool spring day during COVID therefore camping was blocked off. Lake was accessible. Park was open to enjoy. Trails are well identified. Conquered the hill!! See if you can too!!
Nice fire pits, variety of sites, a lake,
Nice views and great spot to visit. The lake is huge and nice breeze coming off the water today at 30 degrees.
20 years enjoying this park. Love it!
Enjoyed exploring the waterfront trails at Bass lake this weekend, with a stop at the beach, I found a beautiful rock on the edge of the beach to capture the moment in meditation.
Campsite had lots of bugs and backed on a busy road. Otherwise we had a good time
We had a very good time here. Bass lake Provincial park is a good place to go camping with your family and friends. Our campsite was a bit far to the lake, so we need to drive to the lake. Facilities on the beach were very good, such as washrooms, bbq place in shelter, picnic tables and park store.
Good park, but I would say site location is key. We were around the 140s to 150s and it was good. Away from road and close to path to the beach. Beach looks a lot farther in the map but was a 5 min walk. Everything was clean. Staff were friendly. Would go again
We (my husband and I) spent a day here this week. It is an extremely well-kept park, with a plenty of beautiful campsites. The beach and picnic areas very pleasant. All in all we had a really pleasant few hours, enjoying a welcome breeze from the lake enjoying a picnic and relaxation. Well worth a visit PLUS day passes are free Monday-Thursday. You can't beat that price! :)
Large lots clean rest rooms
Always a favorite destination for a fun hike.
Our campsite was exposed to the sun. Pictures on ontarioparks website should be updated. Expected and actual place doesn’t match.
Great day use area! Lots of picnic tables close to the water, nice sandy beach, warm water, well maintained park. They also have canoe rentals. Lake is a decent size (larger than I expected). One thing to note - there are no in and out privileges.
One of our favourite provincial parks (so far!) For camping with little kids. The hills are tough for biking but otherwise it is awesome!
Nice treed sites. There is a dog exercise area by the water. The beach is nice. There are some old abandoned structures on site that are cool to explore. Lots of small trails. All in all a pleasant place to camp. We would definitely go again.
Great little beach, good camping sites, very green and fewer mosquitoes than other places we have visited. Also close to the GTA.
Found place to expensive had to pay 13. Dollars a day extra for my motorcycle to sit on the lot . Had to shower at the trailer, water pressure was no existant at the showers. Was looking forward to a provincial park ,not sure any more!!!
Unbelievable serenity so close to major cities. Campsites were amazingly clean and the lake sunset was incredible. Definitely going back.
Great beach area! Clean washrooms. Good social distancing!
TOO MANY HILLS. Horrible for riding bikes since you have to ride your bike down and UP 2 giant step hills. Hilltop campsite was pretty close to the main highway. You can hear cars racing all day down the straight street. No Park Rangers patrolling so people were loud all night. Small little park with a nice small beach with play park nearby.
It is a great park if you are wanting to get some camping in but don’t want to drive for hours. They have a beach, kayak and canoe rentals, playground and a park store. Facilities and sites are maintained. If you forget something Orillia is a very short drive. Our fire wood was dry which is rare with the parks and the ice was cheaper then the grocery store I got it from. I always hit this place once or twice a year for a quick camp weekend.
Stayed here a few times now. Decent little park within 90 minutes of Toronto. Pretty good spacing between individual sites. Kudos to park staff for extraordinary high levels of cleaning during covid. Staff clean the comfort stations several times per day. Unfortunately the showers are all closed but I get it.
Had an issue with the previous night campers over staying their welcome. The front office staff and the two park wardens handled the situation perfectly. They had great alternative suggestion to pick another available site so we wouldn't have to wait. We looked at the options then we decided to keep our originally booked site. After a short wait, our site was ready. The staff cleaned up the site very quickly from the previous campers. I wish I got their names because they deserve the recognition. Thank you for helping turn around our night at Bass Lake PP. The park was very clean. A nice sandy beach with lots of parking. I will definitely return for another stay!
If u r into short drive ! Then its the best place for camping
Nice park as it is close to the City but not too close. The park is relatively small with not a lot to do besides the beach or launching a boat. Sites are pretty spacious which is a nice bonus.
Nice little park, only downsize is there is no pet beach and the fire pit seemed to close to the road
I am definitely coming back here. The water is clean and low on the beach, there is a play ground for kids, it's clean and so much more.
Water was nice and clean. Drinking water readily available. Lots of trees. Can be crowded. Comfort stations were clean.
Beautiful area. And the water was so warm. It was a fantastic weekend and the people are friendly. A little strict with certain things involving vehicles but otherwise had a great time staying for the long weekend. The showers were nice and the bathrooms were decent. For a campground.
Amazing place for a family time, lots of camp ground, swimming area, boat area, fishing spots and I love the beach, very clean
Purchased a day pass and went biking through the empty camp grounds. A quaint little park, great to explore!
Great camp sites, Great beach, husband didn't fare well in the fishing department though. Very friendly staff and clean washrooms and showers
Great spot to launch kayaks, lake is beautiful!
Great place for all ages. Every amenity is close. Park is well kept. Great Rangers
For starters I was put in a crowded place. No privacy . The beach was too far. And once we finally got there it was way too over crowded. The washrooms were desgusting. And the half decent ones were all the way on the other side of the campground
Great campground. Excellent Beach, nice sites with lots of shade (hilltop campground). Some traffic noise and headlights from road directly behind our site. Wardens and office staff all very friendly. Beach is shallow (maybe 3 feet at marker line) and extends a significant distance into the lake. Comfort station needs some TLC, getting a little run down.
Lovely park. Lots of walking. The park store was amazingly reasonably priced. Free borrowing of fishing gear...no deposit. Bathrooms are well kept. Friendly crowd. Can't wait to go back. Ten minutes away from Orillia
Day pass experience, stuff over there good.price for day pass 15$, Lake is dirty and smells bad in some parts. Beach is only for kids and very small. Crowdy beach side compare to Mara and Mcrae. Nice to bike around inside roads up and down. Fishing plenty. A good picnic place i think just stay away from parts smelling toilet. Full of campers, close to city and very near to main roads. Less mosquitoes around.
Very clean sites. The bass lake is very clean and it is really fun camping in this place. The night view of the starts is awesome. The toilets are clean and well maintained. Would definitely go there again. The only downside are the mosquitoes. You need really good mosquito repellent.
Bass Lake Provincial Park is a great spot for a family camping trip. Located a short drive from Toronto, it is accessible from anywhere in the GTA. The campground has a great beach, which the kids are able to wade out in and enjoy. At it's deepest it was only waist deep on our ten year old. There is also a playground located by the beach. Canoe, kayak and paddle boards are available for rent. The lake does have private cottages and there are motor boats on the lake which can create some waves. Additionally, the lake is large and open allowing the wind to create some chop. The park store had rather meager selections, however as it is only a 10 minute drive into Orillia this is not a huge concern. The washrooms were small and not in the best repair. However, they were serviceable. All interactions with park staff were pleasant. Our site had a large tree branch logged in another tree. Staff were diligent about coming by and ensuring our safety and removing the branch. Overall we had a pleasant time and would stay again.
Parking is 15.50 Cad and very close to beach. It wasn't crowded on weekday and so so beach. Water was warm, not clear. Left with in 2 hrs.
Great plave for day camping. Great views. Fun for the whole family.
We're enjoying our stay at Bass Lake Provincial Park. Beach is nice. Mostly sandy bottom and water temperature has been cool enough to refresh while not too cold. Our site is a nice size, great privacy, but slopes in 2 directions. Took me a day to not feel unbalanced. Was a challenge levelling the trailer. Site description said "slight slope". We managed to rent a canoe and took us 3 hours to go around the lake. Reasonable price for the rental.
good place to enjoy camping, with a perfect lake to have fun.
Absolutely love camping here. Park staff are very friendly and helpful, the beach is always clean, would love if the fixed the fishing dock though.
Careful not to order a site that backs onto the highway. Cute campground, decent beach, old growth forest.
It’s close to the city, but not great. We camped next to the main road into the camp ground and the beach was driving distance away. Beach was small and camp sites were NOT very flat.
Open for swimming, boating, BBQ, good place for family and friends ????
Very nice place for camping in summer. The bathrooms are everywhere but they’re very dirty usually. The lake is very nice!
The park itself is beautiful but do not camp here. Taking around a fire is excessive noise yet children screaming at 5/6 in the morning is completely fine. Using twigs directly beside the fire pit for kindling is obstructing property, going 25 in a 20 is dangerous driving. It felt like we could not do anything out side of our tents without the “law enforcement” all over us. One officer actually asked our group to move cars when we were clearly all drinking alcohol. When I pointed out the fact no one was fit to drive I was only told to be quiet, one more strike and we get evicted. There are children walking around on the road was the reason I was pulled over for going 5 over the speed limit yet children wandering the roads with a drunk driver is okay? Save yourself time and money and go elsewhere.
The park is beautiful. But It probably has the worst trailer filling station in the province. The fresh water fill is ONLY on the drivers side. The hose is not long enough to go under or over any trailer to fill a trailer with passenger side water fill. They also have replaced the threaded end with a blue wand. (similar to the red one at the dump station). You can not attach a hose to this as there is no threads. That means any person with a passenger side water fill MUST come into the 1 lane dump station from the exit. It is a very tight curve and you cannot see if there is anyone filling. If there is someone filling then that would force the person who came in correctly to back up. For them it would be a straight line out. For the person who HAD to come in incorrectly, they will not be able to back up around the curve. All for the sake of a $3 part from home Depot. I would suggest to fill up before you come to this park or buy a hose coupler and cut the junk that they have put on.
Nice park! Clean and beautiful!
Excellent for camping ⛺
Beautiful trails, easiest level, good with kids
One of the best camping experiences ive ever had. 6 Stars!
Very nice park, water was warm and clean, good for paddle boarding, canoing and swimming. Very friendly and helpful staff
Great camping location, we have been to this park more times than any other Ontario provincial park.
Bigger lake than I expected. Nice
Beautiful provincial park, nice beach area, camping and boat launch.
If you leave early, make sure you have BOTH of your permits, otherwise there will be NO REFUND. Of course nobody tells you that when you check-in.
Clean park. Lot of space and picnic benches. Access able parking. Clean lake water. Very nice
Love Bass Lake Provincial Park. Quite a few sites with privacy. Washrooms and vault toilets were kept extremely clean. Great playground at the beach area. Beach was kept clean. Will camp there again!!!
I mean I stopped in for a minute to pee and Google thinks I was there long enough to write a review. Um, it was a really good pee, I guess. I got bit by some bugs but that's to be expected in June. And jokes aside, access to bathrooms is often being overlooked during covid so my aging prostate and I would like to extend our thanks to Bass Lake Provincial Park.
Fantastic park, enjoyable time had there with family and friends. Respectful campers, never to noisy or overcrowded. Staff fantastic, facilities in great condition.
My favourite camping place ,nice shower and clean bathroom! Only 5 mins to city and town !!! Best location for city people
A very nice and relaxing park! The water is warm and great for swimming. ???? Unfortunately though the store and boat rental was closed due to Covid19. ????
We had been there for one night. everything was fine and also the washroom was about 2 min walking and very clean.
Beautiful park close to everything. Peaceful environment. Big and well distributed campgrounds. Well maintained.
Cute park just outside of Orillia. Well maintained and very clean. Bass Lake is busy with boaters and cottagers and the park is close to a road so it's not perfectly serene quiet but peaceful enough. Cedar campground has big open campsites.
Beautiful, convenient for families , shelter, and nice people in the office, clean and pleasant lake, not too far from Toronto!
Excellent location for some outdoor fun. Great play area for the kids, lovely sand patch for sunbathers, nice, clean washroom! I loved it there!!!
Great small park with a nice Sandy beach, quiet and close enough to town that you can stock up on the half dozen things you forgot to bring camping.
Would not recommend coming here to hike, but I the places is only good for the beach
I love this place. It's close enough that the family can camp here and if I need to work I still can drive in.
It's clean and well maintained but the beach is not very big. It gets busy so if you are going for a picnic get there early!
Beautiful place for camping.
Great place to go hike. Very busy beach. Trails were empty. Lots empty. Crazy seeing all the camping sites empty.
I went here to go fishing, don't bother going its horrible! I fished for a long time with worms and only caught one 2" pumkinseed! And you can only fish at one spot the boat launch! Very very very small provincial park only 1 small beach and not the most friendliest people.
Great smaller lake to swim. Water warms up quicker in the season due to the smaller body of water. Bass lake provincial park is a great park to camp at with all the amenities needed...anything you forgot, Orillia is 5 minutes away.
Nice community proovince park. San beach is Good enough for kids. And water is clean and cool
It was wonderful The girls at the gate were terrific. It was a wonderful experience. I kayaked then went hiking afterwards
Beautiful place for a nice quiet get away!
Nice park close to the city but feels like country
Lovely place, the lake view is so beautiful good place for camping and hanging out with friends and family
Excellent park with convenient and well maintained facilities. Friendly staff. Choose site 31 for good location, privacy and drainage.
Very beautiful provincial park for hiking, birding, boating, camping and so on
Clean, large sites, will be coming back!
Nice beach. Water is good, heats up quickly. Lots of snails when you first walk in the water, its shallow for a long time. Very sandy in the water no seaweed until you go further out. Highly recommend.
Super cute beach/provincial park. You can rent boats during the day.
Excellent recreational park. Not a nature park. Good for weekends trips with friends or children. Nice beach with warm water. Some site's fire pits were outdated. Bring your own grill if you plan to cook on the fire pit.
There was alot of houses and it was hard to actually get down too the lake but it was still a good view all considered.
Don’t waste your money here!!! The sand on the beach was full of broken glass from broken beer bottles. I spent the weekend there with my kids and it was such a stressful weekend; their facilities were also dirty and not up-kept to any standards.
Small lake, weekend seems busy but eveyone left by Sunday afternoon. The lake is clean, small beach. There is one comfort station for the whole park but the lines for the showers were short, even though the park was busy. The hike back to the camp sites is steep! Only complaint was that the swimming area was too small, other parks had much deeper areas for swimmers with the risk of boats around.
Amazing place to see the night stars so beautiful
Good place for a short walk
Very well kept park, staff was very friendly, only complaint is hearing the traffic at night / durning day, didnt give you that feel of camping hearing cars zooming by all hours
It’s a great park for camping, the only thing I wasn’t happy with it is the beach sand it’s not the right sand other than that it’s lovely. I also done a firework was so cool from that beach, my kids loved is I am planing to go back to this park next year if I get chance, the way I look at this park there is some spots are very beneficial for the group of families, the lay out for some of the campsite are very good, but make sure there is no rain. For average is great park and I like the canoe and the kayak renting there it makes you do something different but it’s a bit hard to get it because of the crowd. I will be back there if I can get the place. And Covid let us
Excellent campground! We have been going camping here for many years, always a great time!
Great sites, whether you want shade or sun they have it, electrical, non electrical. Great value for sure fees. Park rangers are helpful yet not intrusive
really beautiful and calm place!
Visited here a few times now with friends and family. Great low skill levels trails for people of all ages. Great views and a great beach.
The facilities are decent, the bathrooms are usually clean, and up to date. The beach is small, but it's a pretty small park. During the week, the beach is a good size for the number of people staying at the park, but on the weekends, the beach is packed. There aren't many docks (none) the kids are allowed to fish on, so we had to break the rules and fish on an old broken dock. The last con about this park is that the sites are at the top of a fairly significant hill, which made walking to the beach, dock, or park store a bit of a chore, especially with kids. The sites are nice and big, with a decent amount of grass. The sites are fairly private, with a good mix of sun and shade. It's not been our favorite provincial park, but it is pretty nice.
Very large spots. 2 picnic benches on most sites. Good mix of sun an shade in the "East side" spots. Clean and well placed bathrooms. Only drawback is the single dumping station and the poorly marked signs to guide you to the park entrance
Great spot with privacy and many washrooms close by. Firewood is a bit large bring an axe.
Nice clean facilities and spacious campsites. Kids had a lot of fun camping at Bass Lake Provincial Park despite the rain!
Super convenient camping site for beginners. They have real short trails and a nice beach. Most of the essential stuff is available nearby. You can also buy firewood and ice from the main office. They have limited electrical sites. If you want to canoe you must go to the store early as they have very very limited canoes and they offer it for 4 hours. Don't miss on stargazing by the beach at night. It's one sight that was amazing. They have enough washrooms however there are very few open at night. I guess one near campsites.
Beautiful Ontario park! Perfect for sunset picnics!! Or just relaxing with family and friends
Beach/ Lake: Clean, not a lot of seaweed, sandy beach, can walk pretty far out. A few jet skis, and lots of canoes/ kayaks Camping: decent sites, lots of trees/ cover, well maintained garbage area, and bathrooms are kept nice too! Security: for the past 3 years we have gone, there have been park rangers having to deal with issues form other campers, and they from what we have viewed have always been professional and kind. They would come over and kindly ask us to be quiet if it was getting to late etc. They definitely help with making us feel safe and protected. Over all we have gone back for 4 years in a row and we are thinking about coming back this year. We find the location is great as it is not too far form the 400 series highways so out whole extended family is able to access the campground easily!
Beach is very small and sires are close together. A long weekend is not the best time to come here, but it would be nice during non-peak times. Never far from a toilet or water.
Bass Lake works in a pinch. Close to Orillia. They still use non flush outhouses ???? I will say the staff are very proactive in driving around. Hitting sites for clean up before next folks arrive. But very opened sites, zero privacy & folks fly by in cars while there are kiddos all over. We got so fed up shouting for people to slow down. Give me Awenda or Silent Lake any day instead.
Beautiful conservation park! Beach area is not that big so get there as early as possible.
Terrible experience. The staff was very rude! The wash rooms were a wreck! A person we were camping with got locked in the wash room and when we went to tell the front desk, the two guys just burst out laughing. They were very inconsiderate to the campers and we didn't appreciate their attitudes. I won't be returning!!!!
Very quiet. Beach was a bit small.
Very shallow lake so the water is quite warm. Kids love it here
Had a fun trip! The park was nice, and right by Orillia so we could get whatever we happened to need from a store easily.
I was there for short time , but the park has great green area , playground , boat renting, the beach is not big but very clean, is a nice family place.
Nice walking trails, sand beach.
Who else is reaching Bass Lake? Worth the reach.
Nice city park. Easy walks and nice lake access.
Nice place. nice big sites. close to town so easy to get all the little things you might forget
Really nice place with friendly staff, the sites where nice and big. Would be a good place for fishing if you have a boat. The beach is very small but ok for smaller kids
Nice large private camp sites but camp sites near the highway are a bit noisy at night. Great sand beach with clear water.
This is a lovely campground. Lots of amenities. The waterfront area is nice. Lots of biking/hiking trails to enjoy. Shopping and restaurants very nearby if needed.
Nice beach, good maintain, friendly staff. We had wonderful camping there. But Camping sites nearby main road a little noisy.
My family really enjoyed this provincial park for family camping. we will visit for 2019 season as well!
While this Lake is quite lovely, renters beware of the private cottage rentals in the area. Always use the registered third party agencies that guarantee your payment process and refunds. We were scammed more than once in this area. Renters Beware!
The beach and the camping site are really nice. The only thing is that almost all of water taps need to be replaced. They are not working properly.
Great scenery and good parking access not many people here
Trail is about 3kms long. Pretty standard trail. Not much of a view to be honest.
Great trails for snowshoeing.
Lots of fish to catch, especially decently sized Sun Fish ???? ????
top notch sun and fun
Nice Park for a picnic with the family but know place to fish unless you have a boat.
Boat ramp area needs more parking or a round-a-bout to help launch boats a bit better. Sites are good size though and have lots of variety to choose from.
Great sites, very quiet. Just a long walk from beaches and bathrooms
Great beach , super busy and the beach can not hold many people. Super clean and helpful staff. Just needs more beach space.
A nice campground close to home. Good sites and clean amenities. Nice play area for kids and safe swimming. Covered picnic areas. Not a wilderness adventure like Algonquin, but great for families or folks who don't want hours to travel from Torontom
Amazing, picturesque and tranquil place to spend some quality time. This place definitely warrants a visit during the early and mid fall time frame. The foliage and colors hugging along the shoreline of the lake is really worth the trip. The park is equipped with adequate parking, has a small children's play ground, has picnic tables and is a good place for a walk in the early mornings. Will definitely visit again.
It's really good place for family camping. But closed to the stores in the town.
The park has nothing basically. Just a small beach area for swimming and a picnic area. It is very difficult to walk around as there are no trail. Plus you have to pay $15.50 for entering the park.
Our favourite local park!
Beautiful park set on the shores Of Bass Lake just outside the city of Orillia, Ontario in the beautiful Township of Oro-Medonte
Nice little park. Bring worms if you're going fishing! Small beach at one end for swimming, clear water and not too weedy. No dog beach though.
Great sites for our families and nice biking "the loop" as the kids call it. We've come back and will continue to come back!
All the facilities are kept clean. A total of eight showers in the whole park so choose your time wisely. Plenty of flushable washrooms. Garbage and recycling and propane cylinder recycling available. Water fill and dumping station for RVs. Lovely beach with climber for children. Three picnic pavilions. Boat launch and nature trails. Summertime or annual day passes are on special 2 years for the price of one. $84 or $114 respectively- offered this year only (2021) because of covid.
We have been camping at bass lake for 23 years and we love it from the lake to the walking trails and beach and all facilities are always top notch.Plus all the people that work there are always polite and friendly.Great place for a family trip.
Really nice beach…. Feels like a private beach less people during working days and it’s free when you go in between Monday to Friday
Nice place, camping, picnic shelters and more. No place for fishing from the ground.
It was a great camping trip! Very rustic but clean and sheltered. You almost don't notice that you are 10 minutes from town.
It's lovely and quiet. Looking forward to trying it out in the summer
Amazing camping ground. The water fees just right. Will certain come back.
I love this park. We camp here every year for a week. Lots of walking trails. Try not to get a site too close to the road or you hear alot of traffic. The beach is really nice and there is lots of room. Orillia is very close so there's lots to see.
Great park. Nice sites. Good beach. Great for families.
Beautiful park work a nice park. Great place to camp with your family
Beautiful day for a paddle... relatively quiet... ☀️
I have been here two times and it is a wonderful campsite. The lake is very nice for boating/canoeing, beach is big enough (decent parking), easy to buy firewood, decent level of privacy for the price for car camping, and staff was very friendly. I came here a few weeks ago during COVID and it was clear that day visitors to the beach was being limited (even better)! Will definitely be going again in future years. Bonus: 5 minute drive to grocery/Canadian Tire for emergencies.
This was the very first place I took my oldest daughter camping. Just drove until we were tired . It was just the two of us we had a blast everybody was helpful and friendly want to go back one day with my other kids. One of the best camping trip I have every done
Bass Lake Prov. Park is a naturally beautiful backdrop for a nature hike and in my case, I love photos in the fall. This is an amazing place to take your camera!
This is my cottage lake! Just love everything about Bass Lake. As for the Park, it is a nice smaller park, quieter than most Provincial Parks. Plus it's very close to Orillia. A great spot for the kids.
Awesome spot to take the kids for an afternoon
Small but delicate provincial park. Excellent location, close to major cities in GTA. Rental boats are available near the lake. Washroom and shower room are very clean. The only problem is that some campsites are near external traffic
Beautiful small park 10 minutes away from shopping in Orillia. Small beach with clean water. Fishing and boating is allowed.
A nice place; the crystal clean water if you stay a little bit away from the main beach area.
Great campground, with tons of space!
People drive to fast some don't some do all park ragers do is give out tickets for no hamelt to people but do not tell people too slow down . But park is asum all the same
One of the best provincial parks in Summer of 2021.
Awesome place for having a picnic with your family and friends. The lake is also very good for fishing as there are nice big basses here and many other fish.
We had family photos taken there, it made for an amazing backdrop. We plan on camping there next season.
really nice grounds. Site choice makes a big difference in terms of privacy but the overall place is very nice with some decent trails. Close to shopping too of you don't line roughing it or forget to bring something.
Very nice and friendly workers there from my experience and always very clean! Always enjoy going here despite it being very busy
If I was able to I would rate this place less than 1 star. This was the worst camping experience any of us has ever had. The park ranger continued to violate our privacy by walking on to our site countless times, and she had walked around and quite literally hid behind the trees and in the bushes as it got darker to watch us and see what we were doing, we couldn’t even enjoy our time because she was making us all so uncomfortable. She also continued to threaten us with a fine for using sticks in our fire from off of the ground, which I have never heard of from any other park. Its a huge money grab because all they are doing is try to find things to charge people with. Barely any privacy on the sites when they are all listed as good. Bathrooms were not clean, and when they got cleaned the cleaning crew just poured water on the floor and left it wet, with no wet floor sign. Overall awful camping experience & I would suggest going anywhere but here.
Came here to rent a canoe. The staff were friendly, our canoe was clean and they sanitized all their paddles/oars, safety kits, life jackets. This park had it all, hiking trails, beach, camp sites. There were washrooms open as well
I go here every year and only go somewhere else to try new places. It's my comfortable default place. No complaints
Great park for camping. Accessible, lots of parking great beach and awesome electrical sites.
Very good provincial park for families with small kids. Camped for 2 nights it was amazing. Campsites are too close to one another, however most sites were empty so we had the whole section for ourselves. Beach is small has clean water but, busy with day use customers. Washrooms were fairly clean.
Bass Lake has a few trails for walking, and a little beach! Depending where your campsite is, you might not have the best experience. I was in the hilltop camp site between 100 - 150 If you have this site, there's a road right beside it with cars that pass by which will break the "camping" atmosphere. The beach is downhill, and could be a tedious walk back to your campsite
Great weekend. Due to covid no shower available, but washrooms cleaned regularly
Beach is really small and crowded even with the covid entrance restrictions
I'm not really into camping, but went there once, seemed like a good place for a family, has facilities nearby campsites.
Was super busy. Overall the park was okay but the beach and fishing spots are to small for how many people were there. Also the staff don't monitor much either and people were driving fast on the roads seen many kids almost get hit. This also includes the staff on the go karts that drive around doing clean up. The lake is fairly busy( we were there over a weekend)
Great spot. Very well kept Beach. Clean campsites and only 5 minutes west of Orillia. 5 stars had I not been able to hear the highway at night but convenience comes at a price I guess
Nice small provincial park (less than 200 campsites, beautiful sand beach which is groomed daily, shallow water with sand bottom, quite lake, lots of shade near the water.
Perfect park for some downtime! Beautiful sunsets, hiking trails and great for swimming, canoeing etc
This was my first time parking at this park. Very clean. The beach and playground look very well kept. Trail areas look nice too. Can't wait to go back in the warmer weather.
Wonderful place my fav spot
Very nice park, some trails, great fishing. Would not stay more than a few nights though. The only downside was very few spots for shore fishing, need a boat.
Sweet lake when the wind is not blowing for kayaking and some fishing...can't wait for spring
Nice park that is close to Toronto. The reason for the 3 stars is because there really isn't anything special about it. The beach is fairly small, sand on the beach is somewhat coarse, ok fishing. On its own, could have been 4 stars, but when you compare to other Provincial Parks, would rate it below par.
Nice and clean, the beach is great for kids and close to town
My first camping trip and loved the experience. Very nice park. Small though. Good staff and well kept facilities. Lots were nice. Really enjoyed a relaxing weekend!
Park was nice. Some of the campsites are really close to a busy road (which isnt shown on the map) so be mindful if that bothers you. The park ranger was extremely committed to her job. She walked through our site several times.
Very nice lake and campsites. Not too crowded and facilities are clean and well maintained. Water isn't too cold in the summer time and good for fishing off the dock and shoreline as well.
Nice serene place for camping. It's a serviced site so has basic amenities like potable water, washrooms, showers and electricity connection.
Lovely place. Not overcrowded and has extremely polite and helpful staff. The lake is not super clean but warmer than other places in the area. Has a small beach and offers boat rents. Plenty of camping grounds. Not super spacious though. Washrooms are way cleaner than in most other provincial park. Will go there again.
Small but nice sand beach, great for swimming with kids.
Really friendly and helpful staff , love this lake
Nice park. Lovely idyllic lake. Pretty good for fishing at their dock
Beautiful park, nice and wooded for good privacy
A fantastic place to forget all your cares and be one with God.
Very close to a lot of residential houses and the road so it is not very quiet or picturesque. The beaches are quite odd and obviously not natural, they are very groomed. It is very quiet from about September onwards so nice if there is a patch of good weather at that time of year. When I visited in September I was almost the only person there even though the weather was quite warm still.
Nice beach (not huge). Ample parking space
Not good
The beach was very nice. Not crowded. The grounds are kept well.
This was an amazing camp ground. Facilities were clean and the camp site was spacious. Overall it was quite good
Park housekeeping were really nice and helpful, fresh water available, clean washrooms and great scenery!
Nice park. Went camping for a week. A bit small though. Waters pretty clean, but beach there is also a bit small. Although very close to city and necessities which was convenient.
Nice beach. Not so big, but well maintained, beautiful sand and clear, warm water. Ideal for families with small kids. I would give it 5 stars, although we've had a bad experience with a group of people smoking weed near our table... The ranger took care of the problem and all went well from that point on. Many thanks to all staff!
Visited for the day and the beach was amazing. Not too busy or trafficked by boats. The lake was nice and sandy and they have a really nice waterfront trail.
Used to be a good place not very happy boat docks not there are there docks broken all over the place Trails aren't marked like they used to be it's a shitshow now Park Stores were closed rental boat area was closed I deserve a free week stay very unpleasant
Great large camp sites with friendly staff.
This is a small Provincial park, I only use it for short outings with the family, it's not the type of place I think of when I'm planning a camping trip. If you do visit and go swimming from mid to late summer make sure to shower soon afterwards. As with most shallow lakes parasites tend to develop as the year progresses. There is a decent playground and a small beach in close proximity to the parking lot . There is a fee to park.
Nice park. Was too windy for canoeing on the day we went
Nice park. Close to home nice for day trips as well as camping trips
Was not impressed we are forced to buy firewood from the campsite and it was soaking wet took us 2 hours to burn three pieces. Made a complaint and we got told oh you can buy another bag of firewood. Send this to the store instead of the main gate and I was still soaking wet
Good place for canoeing ????
They will force you to buy their rotting wood for 7$ a bag. People leaving food everywhere has brought in skunks and many raccoons. Not to mention the bathrooms/showers are falling apart and completely disgusting. Just camp somewhere else
Beautiful small park with nice trail and beach off Bass Lake.
A great Park for a quick getaway from the GTA area. Stayed at the Hilltop campsite. Comfort station was a little outdated and smaller toilets around the campsite were not the greatest. No Pets were allowed on the Beach, had to Drive to get there and it was small. There was a fair size playground for kids by the Beach that was nice. The Pet excersice area was tiny and next to the Boat Launch. They had lots of picnic áreas for day use.
Nice and Quiet. Washrooms and Shower was also clean. Enjoyed our trip there.
Great park warm shallow beach
The best place fir camping. Nice beach for families.
Nice little park. Site we stayed at this year was very large and very clean. Could use a bit better enforcement for noise. Park could use some updates. That being said we would definitely return.
Nice lake. Decent campsites, but if you're a boater, they don't have docks to dock your boat. Only one at the launch and one designated for fishing only. You're not allowed to dock your boat at either one if you want to take a break. So if you want to get out, your boat has to as well. This makes it quite inconvenient and really ties up the boat launch.
The park itself is very nice. Great beach and lake. The layout of the campsites, however is awful. There is very little privacy between sites and the sites allow for far too many tents and vehicles. Vehicles spill over into the roads. Also, the lights and noise carry from one site to another. People are loud at night, and the comings and goings of people in and out of their vehicles well after dark made it difficult to rest. Was very pleased until the sun went down. Glad I'm only spending one night. Will not return.
Beautiful, large sites and very clean washroom
My whole family love this place, was soo nice there...
Cute little park, and a nice looking lake
Very warm and very clean...i come and visit here every year from nova scotia and the first place i go i swimming in bass lake too cool off :)
Clean quite park, lake was nice.
Pretty lake. Huge crowding at campsites and playground.. Saw lots of beer and liquor.did not camp here.
group site washrooms were okay, and if you take a shortcut through the woods, the showers+nice washrooms are only 20 minutes away the beach however is very small and it is quite a hassle to walk there
Excellent place to camp!! Enjoyed it 2 years in a row.
Was a good place. Some sites are not great but ours was.
Nice campground but I have a few issues with it. 1. Why fies water tap near campground shoot water out straight? 2. Where the heck do I wash dishes? And 3. Holy mother .why is the camp store sooo bad? There is literally nothing in it!
Beautiful park, well maintained, the comfort stations need updating.
Beautiful place, would love to come back again soon!!
Great park not too far from the city. Nice lake and beach. We come here often when we want a short vacation. It's easy camping with all the amenities of a big city minutes away. It's not the deep woods camping experience but a well kept clean park and really good swimming and also has canoe rentals.
Great park, lots of amenities and very nice beach.
The park is beautiful and the bathrooms cleaned every 4 hours. The reason the park gets only two stars are because the wardens were patrolling and picking every infraction possible. Most of the time we agreed with them but when we get stopped for burning branches from the ground of our campsite just screams power abuse. Would recommend for a walk but would not for camping
Amazing place with a great experience the water is close by and there's lots of parking all around only two cars per site. Ice and firewood all available on site it's a great place for family or friends
Nice park but lots of hills.Good walking path by the lakeside
Great camping spot.... I try to go a few times a season
Great family camping experience. Rest rooms, showers are kept clean and disinfected by staff. Lovely beach area. Hiking paths .boat launching.
Canoe rentals don't start until 2pm on Wednesdays. They only have 6 canoes and they go fast. There are strong currents and cross winds that will push your canoe into the shore some days so probably best to go when there is little wind. Really nice beach for swimming.
A fairly mediocre provincial park near the GTA, decent for a weekend or so but not many things to do nearby. The lake is small and the beach/day use area is very small. The washroom facilities are nice, and the campsites are pretty standard.
Nice park. Great scenery, very hilly. Getting to the beach is difficult by foot with children. Must walk on narrow roadways with loads of blind hills. Park store is bare basics, but the city is 10 mins away if you need anything. Sites range from secluded to open wide. Running water bathrooms are available, out house pit style is also an option. 5 min walk from the beach to the closet washroom ??? canoe, paddle boat, kayak rentals available. Fishing is difficult from shore by boat is great.
absolutely loved it, been going there (amount other places) to camp for many years. Lots are huge with lots of privacy, although some of the lots could have the Hydro a bit more accessible to the sites!
Beautiful clean park.
Beautiful spot would definitely come back.
Great park. Nice large private camo sites. Nice walking trail.
Went there to walk the short trail and swin after. Ifcyou want to Canoe...booked early
Too busy. And park ranger has a power trip over loading the car for 1 min at a non parking spot
Beautiful park just outside of Orillia, not as many private sites but good size and nice walk to the water
The Lake is beautiful for swimming. Our site was massive and enough to washrooms and walking areas
It's a campground. Has what it claims. Though inadequate parking around boat launch area. Washrooms and Showers clean. Not many fish biting.
Small but friendly staff and not far from home
The third provincial park I've visited this year and by far this one has the worst maintenance and care of its facilities. Broken fixtures, doors and locks. The staff was very friendly. Maybe too young to have pride in their place of employment. I hope this park gets updated like the others I've been to. I'd like to return as the camp store. If you can call it that was out of park clothing in XL and stickers. I know its the end of the year but a product that doesn't expire how can you run out? I love provincial parks. However this one is below the standards of others.
Nice park...decent fishing...a little small, but a friendly place with nice staff and good sized sites...will return again.
Lost keys in park, and would not allow us back into the site to look for them. Nothing open in the park so it's not even worth your while to go there. I think it is rediculous that you can't use a metal detector to look for your own keys.
The park itself is beautiful the sites are nice and big with mostly grass cover. The beach is also a good size...nice n shallow for kids and sand is nice for sand castles! The bathrooms could use an update and the smell from the outhouses can be unbearable at times. And depending on where ur site is u can hear the highway outside the park...we had site 36. All in all it was a good week
Nice beach, great playground. Sites have very little privacy though. Would be great for camping with a group.
Small sand beaches, pretty sites. Staff are friendly and helpful. Very little wildlife
Loved the place. Not too crowded. Water was clear and there were enough benches nearby and enough sand area I dont mind skipping beach for this. The place is clean. As tip for people who do not want to pay on map you can see an area of the lake closer to the road you can park there and enjoy a nice dip in the lake as well. Well you might miss out on the sandy area but you are not paying $15 as park fee to swim in this lake.
Great to walk along the lake. Paved easy walking path. Sad we cant go camping due to covid. the trilliums and spring flowers are beautiful
Basslake was OK, if it's ur first time camping than this would be a great park to visit. Everything is very clean. The beach area is very small. They have one trail which was nice, however I wouldn't recommend a stroller on it (big hills and not paved). It was smaller than I thought it would be. Playground is just a swing set. Very quiet all throughout park, My youngest loved it for he caught a minnow. Overall it's quiet & clean
Trail Path are clean, sign are clear, not too much fly and 毛毛虫worth to go! Very good camping site
A great park to camp with small children. A big beach and picnic area. A play ground and easy trails. Also close to town, but far enough that you can't hear the highway.
Staff are all friendly, sites are nice. We had six kids with us and they all had a great time!
I really enjoyed the beach there. The water was very clean. When I went in early August there were almost no mosquitos
A very nice place, picturesque, well kept, warm, clear water, clean sandy beach, a lot of shade from trees, ideal for families with small kids. We all loved it
Day use full but lots of spots. Disappointing to say the least.
Love Bass Lake! Shallow sandbars make it easy for children to swim. Lots of trails. Not a far distance from road to park. Great place for a day trip..Snack bar, bathrooms, kayak rentals all in close proximity to beach and parking.
A small park with a nice little beach and an easy woody hiking trail. Nothing special though. So close to Toronto, so could be a good day trip. We're here on a RV road trip. The camp site is not bad and public washroom nice and clean.
Quiet and peaceful. Loved the hiking trails.
Can't go wrong with this camping choice. Coffee, ice cream and snacks available yet rustic.
Nice park with lake to rent canoes. Very steep hills in park must be in good shape to get around park. Good location close to city amenities.
I have been camping here for a long time. Now I get to take my kids here. Lot's of stuff to do with the kids here and in town. Nice trails and parks. Boat rentals. I won't share my favorite sites, but if you take a stroll through you can see what sites are really nice. The online pictures only do so much.
Very nice park to spend the day, the staff are nice and the park is very well maintained
Calm and quite place, not too crowded, not too big, amenities included public bathrooms, some Anacostia available to purchase but not real food, picnic area, BBQ, park, trailer area boating or docking area
Was our first time visiting the park. We went with 2 other couples. In total we had 5 kids 3 years old and under. The bathrooms were always clean and stocked. Our campsites were easy to set up tents on, well shaded drained water well. Camp rules were well enforced at night to keep things quiet. As far as swimming, beach area is small but was great for our kids. The water very gradually drops and we could let the kids play freely. There was ice cream available and the park is 3m to orillia if you need anything from a store. We had a great time!
