I call this spot along Lake Ontario in Oakville, “the slabs.” I used to come down here and chill, it would always relax me and clear my mind. Waves, splashes, wind and the solitude of nature is meditative.
Lovely spot. Busy for covid but clean and beautiful views.
Small and cozy park with access to the water. It connects to the Burloak Waterfront Park from the west and you can walk on the trail beside the water to the west and enjoy both parks. It has a nice view of the Lake Ontario and Toronto skyline. There are benches around the park and close to the water and you also can access the water from the sandy beach. Nice area for kids to play beside the water.
Lived in Lakeshorewoods for about 14 years, and this park was way better until 5 or 6 years ago when the town decided to renovate it. They installed barricades, fences, and blocked public access to the waterfront upto an extent that it has lost its charm the way it used to be, i.e. Natural! Still you may enjoy it if you don't know what it was before these renovation, and plenty of walking pathways and natural habitats. Kids play area has new style slides, swings and climbing structures, with safe padded soft rubber ground in case they fall. Parking lot is small but easy, if parking lot is full then go little south on Great Lakes Blvd and park on one of the side streets where 3 hrs parking is free. No public washroom but gas stations and coffee shops within 1-2 kms either side of Lakeshore Rd so not an issue. Overall giving 4 Stars because this place used to be one of my favourites before recent renovations. CAUTION: Family BBQs or BBQ of anykind is prohibited bylaw in all Oakville public parks. You need a licence with public liability insurance policy to do BBQ at a pre drsignated spot in any park here. You may be able to do BBQ in Bronte Provincial Park though but entry is not free.
There a playground. Right of the closed pier is a sandy crescent Beach. The left side is a rocky beach. Either side great to enjoy the lake and sunrise. Limited parking available. Overall a quiet park. There is a small area dedicated to rehabilitation for local fauna and birds.
Want to relax in busy life then you should be there sit quietly and hear ???? touching the shore it will put you automatically in calm mode I bet you you will enjoy beautiful nature. I seen and heard people often go to artificial places to get relaxed but try nature free of cost.
Love this beachy area, there are many areas in the park to sit down or have a nice walk! Me and my girl came and sat by the rocks and the view is so soothing and peaceful????
Great beach! Not too busy during the week and it has a playground for kids and a bathroom too! My six year old loved it!
Beautiful view, just the lake shores were really dirty, you couldn't swim or get in the water here
A quiet serene park on the waterfront, it's still technically a part of Oakville not Burlington as I initially thought, there is a nice beach spot as well, plenty of parking spots and you can walk to the Shell Park by crossing lakeshore on foot
We love South Shell park. The playground is a great for little toddlers, and conveniently close to the beach. I love the lake view while pushing my little on the swing.
Beautiful park that is still off the radar of many making it less crowded. The park has a rocky area and then a beach area with sand. Whilst the park is beautiful with a lovely walking trail, the water had a lot of algae today and was the low point. But the picturesque background and great views made up for it. There are a few benches and a gazebo with 2 tables. But feel free to get your mats and the view from the grass. Our highlight was later in the afternoon when we went to the rocky side just in front of the parking and saw clear water crashing like waves. It's a small area but gave a very Caribbean feel. The kids enjoyed this the most but be careful if you small kids. Washrooms were clean and next to parking. There's also some slides n a play area for little kids. Overall, great experience.
Very nice spot with a wonderful unobtrusive lake view & access, plus a small play ground for the kids. Perfect for a moment of relaxation in the morning or the evening. Missing one star only for the size. Not a large space for a big group outing or so.
I am really sad to see the amount of trash on the beach side. I didn't have my collector gadget with me today, so sadly I left all the plastic and other trash on the beach.
Nice little community beach! A very cosy place to come and relax during the work week!
It is a tiny beach but enough space/fun for little kids. It is not easy to get a parking after 10 AM, but the people come and leave on a period of 2 or 3 hours .
Great little getaway! There is a waterfront path that you can walk or simply go to the beach. The beach is sand but also has sea shells thus would recommend to bring water shoes. It does have a really small parking lot so would recommend to come here really early if you're planning to spend the day swimming. Or you can park at Shell Park and wheel your things over in a wagon. They're not to far from each other. There's one gazebo at the beach as well. And a more nature like path to the beach vs taking the stairs but not recommended if you're carrying more than a backpack. The photos of the tree trunks and berries are from that path. The other side of the park near the parking lot has a kids playground and you can also walk down to the rocks. It did smell a bit because of all the algae that dried up but it is a nice spot to relaxing at anyway.
Nice little park, with public washroom, and free parking. The little beach is nice for kids as the water is very shallow, at least it was on my visit. Bring your snacks if planning to stay long as nothing is for sell food wise. I went on a weekday and it was very quiet and peaceful. SUP or kayaking is a great idea.
Love South Shell Beach for paddlebaoeding in a calm protected area. It's like being on a tropical island, so beautiful.
Great paths, well maintained park. Fun for kids to spend time in the rocks and discovering some walking paths with exciting views of Lake Ontario.
turns my house into a cottage. Just a 5 minute walk from this nice little beach. Gets a little crowded on weekends but stiil nice.
The quality of the water does not match the photos at all. I went today expecting a cleanly clear lake but it was nowhere near clear or clean. It was murky brown and full of algae/moss. It was so much that it got stuck in our hair and stayed trapped under our bathing suits. I would advise against bringing kids here- that water is definitely not healthy to ingest. Also, near the shallow there are very sharp rocks/shells which isn't the safest or most comfortable for kids. To top it off, there is a very noticeable smell that is comez from the water. The parking is *very* limited in the area of the lake. There are perhaps 30 spots that get filled by 11am and don't empty until 6pm.
Beautiful little park in Oaville on Lake Ontario right on the border of Burlington. Good place to swim and a park for little kids.
Great stop for motorcyclist while riding on the lakeshore. It is a cute little park with benches, public washrooms and free parking. On the west side you can walk to the Burloak water front. Kids friendly park
Beautiful park with trails, beach and beautiful view...im really happy i found this...
Small place with limited parking but some amazing views. Ideal for a small group to relax on a summer afternoon.( Extra parking available at the nearby Shell Park)
My favourite place for a quick afternoon in the park. It’s a hidden gem in the city. The beach is tiny but so beautiful that you could easily forget that you’re not in some resort. Water is always clean, sand is soft and if you go during week there is nobody but just you and the beautiful nature. Steps away from the beach there are public washroom, water refill station and no problem with parking.
This part is good for walking in the morning and evening. And it has very good view.
This was my first time here and it was great. What a contrast, one beach with rocks, one with sand, very nice. There is great views of Lake Ontario and the CN Tower off in the distance. There is a washroom facility, not a lot of parking, if you are an early riser, come and watch the sunrise. Barbecues are not permitted.
The weather was great today. Water was nice temperature. Beach beautiful as always!
Beautiful, clean play area and waterfront trail. Have access to the lake in a short walk past the security gate.
I really liked this little beach area. My kids had a great time picking shells and feeding ducks. We went on a colder day so we didn’t spend too much time here. Will definitely go back to have a picnic.
One of the most amazing spot for people who love beaches... Such a clean and family beach Amazing place to hang out!!
Very nice park. Visiting this park is always and calm and relaxing experience. There is lots of parking available. Kids love the park because of the slides and swings around and lots of area to play. The garden area is nicely done and the plants are beautifully placed.
A beautiful place to go for a walk and watch the sunrise. This park has a beautiful view of the lake and you can even see the skyline of Toronto on a clear day from the east side of the park. There is also a nice trail going to the west end of the park that goes through a small forest, past a small beach with a gazebo resting area and wraps around back to the sidewalk on lakeshore road. The trail has many benches to sit down and enjoy the view of the lake. Be mindful that there is wild life here. I have seen coyotes, although it has only been in the early mornings.
Amazing. I look forward to my daily stroll to south shell park
Great little area to walk, bike or run. Beach is big enough to have a picnic or bring your dog into the water. Sunrises are also very nice at this spot. The renovated recently and is even nicer.
Very private, quiet and clean beach. It's a hidden gem. There's a trail and a park near by if you want to go for a walk or have a picnic.
Very beautiful place. Small Small parking lot. Nice beach Worth a visit
So cute, amazing view of the lake from the park. I go there a few times a week and I dont even live close by. I drive 20min to this adorable spot. There are little trails there by the water too. Very calming.
Amazing new beach which my kids enjoy.
Like this place so much. The sound of water, happy birds flying close to water surface, and the small ship light, everything is awesome
nice park for my first visit but unfortunately there is an accessibility parking spot that is a trap for visitors the post is not at the head of the parking space and there is no sign on the ground visitors be careful
South Shell Park...it's a great place to visit, it has beautiful gardens they are vary well designed by variety of different flowers and plants. and playing areas for Children. It's really a quite relaxing place to visit .
Great beach. Gives the Caribbean vibe when the sun is up and the water is clear. Never rough waters because of the cove so it's a great little swimming hole.
Peaceful and tranquil
Beautiful little spot to have a lake side picnic or sit on the bench to enjoy the sight. There is a staircase that takes you down to water level. We probably will be back to explore the bicycle trail.
Great place for a lake view and short trail, there are two beaches, one is full of white river stones and the other side of the pier is a sand beach filled with shell mash, which is a fun place for the kids.
A very nice place to spend some quality time with the family.. good for kids too..a small parking is right outside the park (usually it’s full so you can park right across the road or at the shell park which is nearby) there are few slides and swings for kids to enjoy. Public washrooms are available. On one side there is a small waterfront area which has stones and is quite beautiful. And on the other side there is sand on the beach where you can sit and relax and kids can play in the sand and enjoy the beach (clean beach). There were a few barbecue, so I guess the beach is barbecue friendly. There are trees near the beach which provide shade in the sun. You get a nice place to sit so not a busy beach to say. Overall a Wonderful experience.
Great little park to walk! It extends to the west end a little bit but if you keep walking west, it connects to Burloak Waterfront Park - about a 15 minute walk. There a few benches around and some access to the water. A great day to spend with friends and the family. Lots of dog walkers as well!
