We have the opinions of people who consume the products and services of Shubie Park (Tourist Attraction) in the area of Nova Scotia (Canada).
At the moment this business gets a score of 4.8 stars over 5 and that rating is based on 127 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is virtually the highest, and it is founded on a very high number of feddbacks, so we can think that the score is quite reliable. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to give evaluations when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Tourist Attraction corresponds to the category of Park.
My husband and I love taking our pug and beagle spaniel to shubi for walks and to get fresh air and to mingle with other fur babies and their owners. Great walking trails for off and on the leash walking and all kinds of different breeds and sizes.
This is a great park that anyone can go to. It has a dogs off-leash area and it has an on leash area and there are lots of birds, chipmunks and squirrels.
Lovely park with lots of trails of different difficulty. The historical informative boards tell you the story of the canal. There are lots of little animals for kids to enjoy their walk with you. The park is accessible from Dartmouth crossing or from the residential street down below.
Such a nice clean park, I love renting the kayaks, swimming, and going for walks here! Amazing for dates, kiddos or just getting out of the house
Shubie is one of the best places to bring your dog for a walk in HRM. It offers an extensive off-leash trail that borders Banook lake, where your dog if he’s inclined, can go for a swim. Owners will love it too, providing the best of what Dartmouth has to offer in terms of scenic trails.
We had a great walk along side of the small stream that leads to the lake. Quite pleasant walk on the trail.
Lovely park to bring your family and friends(fur family included!). The park is tucked off of the “main” road. Some googling and you’ll find it. There are a couple of food places nearby before heading to the park. Which I would recommend asking to use their washrooms as unfortunately the public washroom is not ideal in the park(at least as or me writing the review). Shubie is accessible via bus for those curious, yay! They have some on and off leash trails for the dogs. Which is helpful when your socializing your dog or have a dog that loves people but is wary of other dogs. So far everyone going on these trails have obeyed the signs which you love to see. Bonus if you don’t have a dog(obviously ask before petting) you get to make tons of fur friends! The wild life(squirrels, birds, ducks, etc) are actually quite friendly and pretty much come up to you looking for food. Make sure to read the signs regarding feeding the wild life.
Many great trails, kayaking, Canoeing, swimming, camping, and nature. Awesome place to spend time.
It's a nice place to walk, there's beautiful scenery and is teaming with ducks plus a lot of people walk their dogs.
This scenic park is bustling with nature, featuring both long and short trails to suit your mood and abilities. There are both on and off-leash areas so feel free to bring your pets. The park is wheelchair accessible with a few different parking lots to gain access. Picnic tables overlooking the water and a couple beach spots make for a nice getaway.
Shubie is a well kept park and great for a walk in nature within the city. There are also well marked off leash sections for those who love to walk or jog along side of their dog. Bicycles are also permitted on sections of the trails but need to give right of way to pediatricians. With patience you might be able to find some black capped chickadees that will come and light on your hand. Overall, a great place to introduce younger children to wildlife and nature without leaving the city. The only downside is that because it is in the city, it can get busy at times. When it does get busy finding parking can be an issue so you might have to park outside of the park on the side of the road and walk in. It is still worth exploring, but don't expect to have the park to yourself. Since there is no half stars I gave a 5 star, but really feel it is more like a 4.5 out of 5 just because of how busy it can get which is really unavoidable being inside the city.
It's a beautiful place to walk in the woods with squirrels climbing right up on your foot. Have to take a treat next time I go.
It is a beautiful place to be with nature. We were able to meet squirrels and many kinds of birds.
Beautiful park in the city! Lots of beautiful trails with small wildlife (birds, squirrels, chipmunks). Lots of signage. It would be very helpful if the signs had a "You are Here" indicator. It is quite difficult to determine where you are on some of signs as you at a crossroads spot in the woods. Otherwise a beautiful park for all ages.
This is an excellent place to bring dogs. The scenery is gorgeous, I really have fun walking over the little wooden bridge and watching the water fall. My lab, Maple, loves coming here. It's busiest on Saturdays which I find to be a good thing for my dog. She really enjoys playing here, and is always super tired by the end. Even if you don't have a dog, it's really nice to walk through and see the beautiful nature.
It's a pretty place with great views that keep coming while walking on the trail. It has benches after every minute of a walk. The good part is they warn you about dogs off leash section of the park.
Great place to walk your dog(s). Very clean trimmed trails and people pick up after their dogs. There is an off leash and an on leashed section which is awesome. Lots of beautiful scenery and small waterfalls.
A beautiful park. It tends to be fairly quiet. The paths are well maintained. Lots of wildlife to see.
Love it, really nice naturists feel.
Amazing place to go white the famíly, take a walk and a pic nic.
Nice large park in the city with plenty of walking trails and different things to see. You can also rent a kayak and paddle along the old canal. Great place to see squirrels, chipmunks, and ducks (and of course ducklings in the spring). Only complaints would be how busy the park can get and it can be hard to find if you don't know where it is.
An amazing place to take dogs. Huge, beautiful area to walk with your best friends (dogs). Easy walking, paths are great. Lovely views.
Fun place to go! We caught the last day of the season and there was campfire and marshmallows! Great time! Looking forward next year!
Love this place. Great park for walking around, taking dogs, or even just dropping into for a while. You can also bring your bikes and cycle around the very large park. They have some interesting partner businesses too. There is a kayak rental company where you can rent kayaks and paddle down the river. There is also a canteen (Lemon Dogs) where you can get tacos and other yummy eats. Just a great place to have in the city.
A lot of squirrels and ducks along walk. An excellent historical park, live the history and nature here.
SHubie Park is such a pretty place to go for a stroll and get a few Fitbit steps in! There are Locks and Canals connecting to lakes surrounding the area. There are also some off leash areas for dogs to get excercise as well (if you have a puppy or two)! The paths are easy with no hills and simple to navigate. Free parking.
Great trails for walking cycling and winter x country or snowshoeing. The canal has plenty of history and is a nice kayak/ sup into Lake Charels
Awesome place to enjoy with family & friends. Special place for your dogs. Duper natural views with peaceful aroma. You can't stop your hands from clicking pics just like me.. ;)
I used to like walking in the park. It's beautiful all year round. Let's dig tunnels underneath the highways to find more nature over near burnside and over near Dartmouth crossing. Yeah Tunnels under the highway to another section of wilderness. Let's build the park bigger and all lubed up so to speak If we the community see progress as Locamotive in the future we should learn a little about digging tunnels first. Let's expand shubie park under the highways for practice
This is a nice nice park that I didn’t know existed it has nice hiking trails for miles and miles . There are place to sit next to the water and Lakes and streams, there’s even a beach ,campground . And places to go cross country skiing in the winter .it’s a lovely park for anyone to enjoy. And it’s so close to all of your local needs like Cosco McDonald’s IKEA bass pro shop and the list goes on and on If you like this review give me a thumbs up :)
Very nice place! The colours in this fall so beautiful ????
This park was great for beginner hikers and dog lovers! It has small and large paths to follow and markers so you know you're not lost! Also bathrooms outside the building so they're accessible even after the building is closed :)
Great place to walk with family and friends. Lots of ducks to see.
Great place to walk and take in nature and watch the ducks. Always some friendly dogs there too.
Such a beautiful place, I went kayaking here, it was a great experience.
It's a great place to stay in touch with the natural beauty of this region, as well as being in touch with some of the history of the area ! ????????????
A great relaxing park to enjoy! Super clean and well kept. Definitely a great place to enjoy within the hustle of city life. Seems to be a big park, never got around to going through all the roads within it. Tons of wildlife to be seen, and bringing bird seed the birds will land in your hand sometimes.
This is my favorite park in HRM. The dog park is the best. Great for exploring and feeling like you're far away from town while still being close by. Great for a swim or a walk.
Amazing place to bring your dog's. MAKE SURE there dog friendly. I've heard and even seen some horrible events with rescues and other dogs.
Excellent park trail, main circuit trail is about 2.2 Km. Full of (friendly) squirrels and ducks!
My second time here, just cuz it’s too far from my home. but if I lived in Dartmouth I would love to go there everyday!!! Love the breeze there and the view was so gorgeous af???? really enjoy the trail there! Would def go back again soon!!!
Took the grandkids to the bump park. Kids loved it..Kids were learning to ride their bikes, also a great place for scooters/ skateboards.
The best kayaking I had. Nice experience.
Biking. Hiking. Walking your dog, Or pot belly pig, Or your child/children. Sweet spot amongst nature. You can choose a long route or a short one.
Beautiful urban park right in the heart of historic Dartmouth.
Beautiful walking trails, plenty of wildlife sightings and a lovely little beach. Great for kids.
What a wonderful park with fantastic paths and a beach and excellent prices for renting canoes and kayaks.
Amazing place to take our pup for a walk! Going to try kayaking at some point!
Great walk, awesome for dogs. Lots of areas along the trail for the dogs to swim.
Great place for a family walk, hike, or bike ride! Good for all seasons. Lots of garbage cans and benches around as well.
Love the place and its so huge..Amazing lake for kayaking and swimming...
Very pleased with the park. Great trails and close to everything. Highly recommend. We will return!!
Beautiful park. Squirrels are very aggressive. Wear long pants and don't try to feed them from your hand, they didn't get the memo about not biting the hand that feeds them.
Love this park for a little stroll or energetic walk with the dogs. My dogs give this place five gold stars.
Really nice park. We enjoyed the trails very much and the wildlife was great to watch! We wished that we had brought some bird seed, as we someone else have, in order to feed the squirrels. There is a 'Dog Off Leash' area, which is enjoyed both as a dog and people beach, and another swim area specifically for humans. There is also a place to rent canoes and kayaks.
Best free off leash place in the city! Our dogs are used to being off leash so when we come to the city it's a great place for them to burn some energy. The trails are wide and very scenic as well.
First time going there. It's a beautiful spot! The kayak rental place requires you to book in advance, which is definitely something to keep in mind!
This is a nice park but what I'm looking forward to most the for them to complete the connector to Waverley Village.
Very pleasant place for kayaking and canoeing. The weekdays are not that busy. Enjoy observing ducks and squarrels.
What an amazing park! right in (or like, on the edge of) the city! we had a picnic and a great nature walk and say so many ducks! was fantastic
Great place for a nice walk that has plenty of waterfront views. Highly recommend for dog owners!
Great place on a hot day! Beautiful trails on the river, always a breeze. Fishing, walk you dog on the leashed & unleashed portions of the trails. Great place for families and kids! Lots of parking!
Great trails. Lots of dog off leash areas. Great food and refreshing drinks at Lockside Canteen!
Just visited Shubie Park in Dartmouth for the first time since moving to Nova Scotia and it surprised me with what I found. Lots of hiking trails, beaches, and lots of off-leash dog trails. Even though the parking lot was full and there were cars parked all down the road, it didn’t feel busy. Maybe it’s because I came from downtown Toronto that I don’t find it busy but the park is so spread out that it’s rare to run into other people. Bring bug spray Note that the trees here have giant testicular-shaped formations on them. I haven’t seen that until I got to Nova Scotia.
Great well maintained nature trails, the leash-free area is a joy - you get to enjoy other peoples' dogs without any of the work! It's an HRM/Dartmouth gem.
This is a magical place for me as I grew up in this area and have spent so much time in this beautiful park. I've done everything you can imagine including fishing (for fun not serious) hiking, watching wildlife, bat watching at night is out of this world exciting! Perfect place to go alone or with friends on a nice summers day/evening. Highly recommend this historic park.
The gem hidden in the city of lakes, Dartmouth. It has the historic canal which takes visitors back to those days when transportation on surface played a crucial role in daily life. Also the problem-solving wisdom of the people then is through the remain of the canal telling the story of greatness in human minds. On top of that, the lakes where the park trails stretch along makes the walk such a relaxing enjoyment.
Awesome experience feeding wild birds from your hand..
If you haven't followed all the trails here then you should try them its miles of trails, many lakefront walks, swimming, a ball field, the locks, access to the crossing without having to cross the dangerous highway, the pump track, camping. I love shubie this place is the best!
Amazing trail system and wildlife! The organization that does the upkeep does an amazing job. We were first time visitors to this park but will not be our last. There is a small cafe as well and trails are very accessible. Loved reading about the history of the area and canal system. Loved it.
Truly the heart of Dartmouth! Arguably the best light walking and off-leash dog walking spot in the HRM.
It's a happy place....the kids love to go feed the numerous critters, ducks and pigeons.....The water ways from the lake and on down through the old locks make for a great place to camp, bike canoe or stole.
Awesome park well maintained...was a beautiful cool day for a walk.
I love walking in Shubie park! It's so serene and beautiful not to mentioms there are dogs everywhere!????????
This is a great park for walking or sitting on s bench along one of the many trails. If you haven't been there before you should try it. There are dog areas on a leash and off leash. With the leaves changing it's a nice walk. Enjoy.
Took my son to pump track. I grew up in Shubie Park so I then showed him the great trails. Memories.
Great spot to enjoy nature only detractor is the sound of the highway. Still excellent walking trails and lake views
Amazing trails with beautiful scenery rich with squirrels, ducks ,chipmunks and birds all who have less fear of human and don't mind sharing space along side you as you venture through the trails. The off leash dog area leaves plenty of room for your socialized pupper to meet new friends.
This was my first trip to Shubie Park. There's lots of wildlife, walking paths, history about the canal, benches to sit and rest while you look at through to the water or sit in a quiet area of the wooded land, there's a place where your dogs can roam freely, as well as on leash and other areas, there's a picnic area on a cup of small beaches. If you're looking to take pictures or just relax this is a very splendid place to go. I would suggest if you're someone who enjoys feeding the wildlife take some seed or peanuts along because there are a lot of ducks and squirrels along the way that love to be fed.
TLDR - Overall a great park for all out door activities (walking, canoeing, swimming). The park is both dog friendly and stroller friendly. This park has many great features. There is a beach with life guards, an affordable small boat rental, off leash walking trails and stroller friendly trails. There are many interconnecting trails so that every walk can be a varied and different. The trails have minimal inclines so are quite accessible for persons with limitations or people with small children/strollers. The trails lead past lakes, rivers, locks, marshes, through tree cover or open clearings. There is something for everyone here.
Beautiful park. Great walking trails and completely child and pet friendly. I live close now, but I used to drive 25 highway minutes to bring my children for a swim or walk and picnic. Now we take our grandchildren and still enjoy the park.
Well maintained trails, great kayaking, good for strollers and bikes on the wider paths.
Shubie Park trail is amazing and beautiful for biking, running, or walking. The paths are all maintained perfectly, and you have a lakeside and wooded view.
So many puppy dogs and cute squirrels. Lots of trees and nice trails! Always make Lemondogs canteen a stop while you're in the park for an authentic taco!
Had a nice refreshing walk in Shubie on the first day of Fall.
I love it here. The squirrels are very social and come right up to you. My dad enjoys going for walks with me there also!
An awesome park especially for those with dogs . Great "Dog Beach" of pebble, so as not to track sand into your car . Great to balst through on a bike , and to kayak from , or swim at the other end at lake Charles
Very nice park, there are lot of animals to see, little lakes,... you can also do some picnic if you want.
Nice park. Enjoyed sunny day with ducks and a small turtle. Also good for taking dogs for a walk near lake
Awesome place for leashed and impeached dogs. Great dog beach. A hike enjoyed by all!
This is a lifelong favourite place for hiking, canoeing, dog walking, bird watching, and just enjoying being outside in nature. Lots of trails, historic lock system, beautiful lakes, and some rare plant life including lady slipper orchids. Shubie is a Dartmouth treasure!
I really like the animals on these trails! Peaceful views and I honestly never want to leave.
Such a wonderful place for a relaxing walk. With wonderfully friendly animals if you have the patience. Trails are friendly for biking although it is recommended to keep a slow pace do to people and small animals everywhere
Is an amazing park. I only visited in winter and you have many things to do, so summer has to be even better. must visited.
Great place for the beginner kayaker or to try out a canoe.
I absolutely LOVED it here...the walking trails...the wildlife...the water etc etc is all stunning..we went there on Boxing day &i got some fantastic pictures
Great park, lots of interconnecting trails. The off leash area is great to meet other fellow dogs and their owners. Lots of area to work with your dogs training both on and off leash. I look forward to when the water is cleared for swimming again.
Great walking trails! Lots of wildlife, very relaxing. You can bring your dogs
Lots of fun and very cool animals. You will definitely get lots of exercise.
Gorgeous park!
