The building looked awesome but very little history. The problem is we didn't get to go inside the tower. I suggest to spend about 5 min at the tower.

Great place to go for a walk. Took my kids for a walk and they had fun looking at the old structures. Gets a 4 because they closed the entrances. You use yo be able to go into the structures, you no longer can.

It's a really awesome piece of history. Great informative plates to tell the history of this secret Halifax treasure. The building is also big enough to provide a lot of shade on hot sunny days like today.

(Translated) Located in the middle of the "green". Nice to look at, but going here just for that is an exaggeration. (Original) Mitten im "Grünen" gelegen. Ist ganz nett anzusehen, aber nur deswegen hierher gehen, ist übertrieben.

An important role was played by this Martello tower in the defense of the city, located in the beautiful Point Pleasant Park in the south end of Halifax. It was the first of about 200 Martello towers built in the British empire from the 1790s. Impressive building but inside is unfortunately closed to the public.

Prince of Wales Tower is an old and robust structure erected by the British to defend Halifax. The building still looks impressive today. There are plenty of banks to sit around the old tower. There is also a simplistic public restroom nearby for your convenience.

I like to take the family to Point Pleasant Park and visit this old fortification. It is interesting to be able to sort of step back in history in such a magnificent old building.

Vintage harbour fortification, exceptionally well maintained and restored. A lovely structure, and one of the most popular locations in the park. It also has the BEST example in Halifax proper, of "glacial pavement": the slate bedrock was scraped flat, and even polished by the glacier which covered Nova Scotia 14,000 years ago and shaped the geology of the province. Finally, there is 150 years' worth of graffiti inscribed there, into the natural pavement!! (hmmmm... or is that by Fort Ogilvie.... always get things like that mixed up, lol.). At any rate, the forts are a MAJOR component of Point Pleasant Park, and well worth exploring!!

Beautiful representation of the style of military buildings of the era. Similar to the ones found in Kingston Ontario

Even though the tower was closed due to Covid, it is still nice to stroll around the structure. You can learn about the history of the tower and its purpose.

Part of the coastal defences dating back to the world wars. I think the more impressive aspect are the memorials to the various wars which canadians lost their lives to. As well as a few ships.

Stefanie Riedel

It's nice to see, but only from the outside. All doors are closed.

Nothing there, you can take a photo in one minute and that is it.

Wrote a short story about this park and this tower in particular really good place for running, exploring and just having a picnic. If you visit Halifax this should be first on your list of things to do/visit.

One of the reasons I wanted to go to Halifax, Nova Scotia. The Prince of Wales Tower was constructed between 1796 - 1799 for coastal defence( along with other gun batteries in the area). For being over 200 years old it in great shape, well maintained. Unfortunately It wasn't open to go inside, bummer. The area around the the tower is well maintained, very little if any litter ????. It must have been something to see back then, the clear line of sight for miles in every direction, very nice view today. The stone work has held up very well, looking at the structure I would thing it is much older, very cool.a must see, well worth it the trip.
