Great Slave Lake is the the deepest lake in North America at 614 metres, and the tenth-largest lake in the world. My family and some friend went together to Yellowknife in late March. At the time the ice was still 4-6 feet thick which was good enough to support the touring buses. We took a ride on the bus and did ice fishing on the lake. We also took dog sled and did snow shoeing. It was the first time for my family to be there and had such kind of activities. And everything was wonderful, even though we missed the best night to watch the aurora. The local poeple were very friendly. I hope we can be there again.

(Translated) In the middle of winter, you can see the lake that is freezing transparently. The snow is covered and I have to sweep it hard with a broom or shoes. In the Yellowknife, which has many lakes, this lake is frozen in winter and it is a shortcut to take a car. Cars are wearing snow tires, but you can not guarantee braking power. Those who are looking at the ice floors are far away and should avoid them from the time of the car.
