REVIEWS OF Gros Morne National Park Of Canada IN Newfoundland and Labrador

Tanya Van Waard

Don't miss it. You don't know how much of a geology buff you are until you visit. It is really hard to capture the grandeur of this park

Nelson Bailey

The park was our top goal in Newfoundland. The boat ride is not to be missed and the hike in was beautiful. Well worth the drive.

Keith Flaherty

Stunning place. Just make sure before you plan your trip if its open for the hike to the top. We went in June and it was closed. But at least we took the boat and it was beautiful

Kris Stewart

Beautiful stop here for a night on our travels around Newfoundland. Friendly front gate staff. Walk in site 28 is great for two small tents and a picnic table. Not all walk in sites had a picnic table or fire pit unfortunately.

Sam

Scenery is drop your jaw amazing. Be sure to take the Western Brook Pond boat tour-you forget you are in Canada. Tour guides are so knowledgeable and funny too. Hiking the Green Garden trail was strenuous but rewarding and don't miss the Tablelands hike-you're on the earth's mantle!! Would love to return and try other trails.

Sander Bennett Boisen

Absolutely beautiful scenery. Mountains, valleys and the sea shore are all amazing

Jon C.

Surrounded via silent granite guardians whose suggestions stretch into limitless sky to regularly communicate with clouds, you might experience the natural and unavoidable impulse to appearance up.

Mariusz Dusza

Beautiful place all around, also the place where I was born.

This park is massive! quiet and breath taking! It is too bad we only stayed here one night. We got to hike the Tableland trail which was quite nice to see the new mountains. Will definitely want to come back and stay longer.

Wade Cormie

We stayed in gros morne for a week and had an amazing time. If you love to hike, there are so many trails to enjoy the sites on.

Julie White

Could spend weeks here exploring. Must see subset in Rocky Harbour, must shop at the Glass Station, must eat at Earle’s. Tablelands, Western Brook Beach, Trout River pond zodiac tour with Wild Gros Morne.

Pete Barkley

You have not visited Newfoundland unless you spend some time in this beautiful park. Gros morne hike is amazing but not only that, there are many more like Norris point, Cow head, Woody point, Tablelands...The boat through the fjords in summer just awesome. During winter season the maintenance of the roads are great allowing good transportation around the area too.

Took a ride up Trout River Pond by pleasure boat. Absolutely breathtaking. The reddish brown mountains are The Tablelands in GrosMorne National Park. If you can get a local to take you up this Pond I would most definitely recommend it!

What a magnificent place to visit, a place of great geological history and a fantastic photo op! The restaurant at the boat launch is quite refreshing after your walk from the parking lot. While in Newfoundland you can not miss this extraordinary natural site!

Jem Rey

A National Treasure !! A must see part of the country. Breathtaking views, amazing hiking trails & small communities with amazing hospitality. I would highly recommend visiting here & will definitely be back again.

Joey W

Massive park so you just get to appreciate it right from your vehicle. Plenty of places to get out and do things. We only had time to stop and take in some of the views for a little bit.

Han

Beautiful park. Gros Morne hike is excellent but give yourself time to scramble up scree to reach the peak!

J Brew

Great hiking trails, varying degrees of easiness/difficulty. Tablelands guided tour was excellent. Don't miss the boat trip/tour at Western Brook Pond. The Discovery Center has many interesting exhibits, and knowledgeable, friendly, approachable staff.

Rita Cherkewski

Hiking paradise!! The landscape is similar to Scotland and Iceland but not the same. So many things to do, so many places to see!! A must-visit destination.

Markus Mueller

A vast array of natural splendour that would take weeks to explore thoroughly

Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland, Canada is one of the most specular places on earth. The geology is so impressive. This is the only place on earth where you can see rock pushed up from the mantle. You can see fossils here that define the boundary between the Cambrian and the Ordovician at Green Point. There are an endless amount of hikes along the Atlantic Ocean and all over the park. There are even overnight hikes you can do. This park is a UNESCO world heritage site so even on overnight trips there are no fires allowed. Western Brook Pond boat ride is a must but book ahead. It fills up quickly. There are two Discovery Centres in the park where you can find all the park information about hikes, camping, boat rides, geology, geography, weather conditions and more. They also have a gift shop in the Discovery center. You can go on hikes with Park Interperters where you can find out about the parks geology, history and even vegetation. The park is open year round. We were there in the fall. It's a great time of year to see the fall foliage which is oranges, reds, yellows and greens.

Yvette LeRoux

The beauty of this place is breathe taking!

Gros Morne National Park is a Canadian national park and world heritage site located on the west coast of Newfoundland. At 1,805 km2 (697 sq mi), it is the second largest national park in Atlantic Canada after Torngat Mountains National Park, which has an area of 9,700 km2 (3,700 sq mi). The park takes its name from Newfoundland's second-highest mountain peak (at 806 m or 2,644 ft) located within the park. Its French meaning is "large mountain standing alone," or more literally "great sombre." Gros Morne is a member of the Long Range Mountains, an outlying range of the Appalachian Mountains, stretching the length of the island's west coast. It is the eroded remnants of a mountain range formed 1.2 billion years ago. In 1987, the park was awarded World Heritage Site status by UNESCO because "The park provides a rare example of the process of continental drift, where deep ocean crust and the rocks of the earth's mantle lie exposed." The Gros Morne National Park Reserve was established in 1973, and was made a national park on October 1, 2005. The park was the subject of a short film in 2011's National Parks Project. The park's rock formations, made famous by Robert Stevens and Harold Williams, include oceanic crust and mantle rock exposed by the obduction process of plate tectonics, as well as sedimentary rock formed during the Ordovician, Precambrian granite and Palaeozoic igneous rocks. The park is located in the Great Northern Peninsula of Western Newfoundland. This peninsula is referred to as the Humber Zone, a Miogeocline, the Highlands of which contain the largest external basement massif of the Grenville Orogeny in the Appalachian Orogen. This Precambrian basement is known as the Long Range Inlier, Long Range Complex or Basement Gneiss Complex, consisting of quartz-feldspar gneisses and granites that are up to 1550 Ma in age. Mt. Gros Morne and Mt. Big Level lie within this Inlier. The western boundary of this inlier (along Western Brook Pond, St. Pauls Inlet, and south of Portl Creek Pond) consists of Devonian and Ordovician thrust faults, where crystalline rocks thrust over Cambrian-Ordovician carbonate rocks and the Lower Paleozoic Humber Arm Allochthon. The Rocky Harbour mélange is a Lower-Middle Ordovician collection of greywacke, quartzite, dolomite shale, chert, limestone blocks within a black, green, and red scaly shale matrix, which occurs along the shore from West Brook Pond to Humber Arm (Bay of Islands). The south portion of the park, Table Mtn. (Tablelands) and North Arm Mtn., consists of Upper Cambrian and Lower Ordovician ophiolites known as the Bay of Islands Complex, Little Post Complex, and Old Man Cove Formation. Finally, a Pleistocene ice cap flowed radially across the island, developing fjords such as Bonne Bay. The Tablelands, found between the towns of Trout River and Woody Point in south west of Gros Morne National Park, look more like a barren desert than traditional Newfoundland. This is due to the ultramafic rock – peridotite – which makes up the Tablelands. It is thought to originate in the Earth's mantle and was forced up from the depths during a plate collision several hundred million years ago. Peridotite lacks some of the usual nutrients required to sustain most plant life and has a toxic quality, hence its barren appearance. Peridotite is also high in iron, which accounts for its brownish colour (rusted colour). Underneath this weathered zone, the rock is really a dark green colour.

Amazing park just went on a trail and it was awesome. REMINDER, BRING BUG SPRAY otherwisethey will eat you alive ????????????

Patrick Kent

How does one rate Gros Morne? Instead Gros Morne rates you. 2200' foot cliffs on the Western Pond, the massive peak of the Lone Solemn itself... if God grants you the grace to see these monuments of his creation, then humility and gratitude before revealed glory are the only reasonable responses. Magnificent! Impossible to wrap your mind around this beauty. Come and be both humbled and filled.

9385dee7

Amazing view and beautiful little walk in woods.

Patricia Lee Pelrine

wow!

Daniel Harris

So many places to visit just within the park itself! Everything is worth checking out so be sure you have the time while you're here, to see and do it all! My favourite is the Green Point hike and Tablelands. Both guided tours are worth your time.

Nick Kerhulas

Gros Morne National Park is a World Heritage site and is quite beautiful. It's rocky landscape is unique. We ran into sheep during our stay. Green Gardens Trail led to some and they were cute and unexpected. I would highly recommend at least hiking the area.

Alison Kimberly

Visitors center is a great place to start your planning! Knowledgeable staff and the park is beautiful. Wish I had more time to visit and better weather. We did one great day at the Western Brook Pond boat tour on Canada day. It's cold even when sunny so dress warm!

Nathan Denne

National park is great. Only had time to hike the Gros Mourne mountain trail and the view was amazing. You could see far and wide but it is a long hike up there. Many other hikes around.

Aurora Smith

This was one of the best trips I've ever taken. Stay for a few nights camping and you will see the great geologic features as well as the abundant wildlife. We saw many gamebirds, smaller mammals, and even some moose.

louay sulaiman

Beautiful mountains so much to see absolutely breathtaking. It's worth stopping and spending time at

Adam Fischer

A very picturesque tranquil park. Take time to sit in one of the red Adirondack chairs and just enjoy the view.

AndreA

Excellent. Very nice area of the province. A lot of things to see and do. Walk the Tablelands, hike Gros Morne, visit Western Brook, salmon fish in the licensed rivers.

Joseph Farias III

Be sure to hike Tablelands (all the way to the top) and Gros Morne Mountain. Our favorite is the Western Brook Pond boat tour.

Pat And Grant Paul

The National Park was amazing! We loved the different trails and the boats tour on the Western Brook Pond.

Benoit Lalonde

Amazing park, everyone who visits us from away wants to go and even in the rain it does not disappoint

Vicky Nah

Great hiking!

K Van C

If you are in Newfoundland and don't go here you will regret it. Hit up the Western Brook Pnd tour, Tablelands, hike up Gros Morne mountain, and go to the Viking settlement if you have time.

Kate Isgreat

What an amazing place to explore and get away. The West coast of Newfoundland is absolutely gorgeous - as someone once told me "Gros Morne makes Frank Sinatra look like a hobo in a suit" The nature is gorgeous, and the campsites are well maintained. We stayed at Berry Hill, and were very impressed by the public kitchen area, the private showers (although narrow and push to keep on showers, it's great bring the only person in it). The campsites have raised Parks Canada fireplaces, they make starting and maintaining a fire easy. Firewood is available to purchase but I do not recall the cost.

Lucas Borntreger

Did the Long Range Traverse, it was amazing. The weather can get intense, don't underestimate it. The park staff are very friendly and helpful and the park itself is beautiful

Dave Furph

Incredible beauty and great trails ranging from easy to demanding.

Balint Kertesz

The coastal trail was one of the easoest hikes that we did in Gros Morne. The views were quite beautiful and the hike was really peaceful. Lots of dofferent things to look at including Tuckamore forests and beautiful beaches.

Shannon Francis

Plenty to do, really enjoyed our time here. Even with rain the easy trails are do able. Definitely a place you can spend more than a few days exploring. Park staff were kind and helpful as well when we encountered them

Trina Ho

Visitors center is a great place to start your planning! Knowledgeable staff and the park is beautiful. Wish I had more time to visit and better weather. We did one great day at the Western Brook Pond boat tour on Canada day. It's cold even when sunny so dress warm!

CJ B

There almost aren't word to describe how beautiful this place is, but I'll try. Unspoiled wilderness, stunning vistas and the compellingly harsh beauty of the tablelands. It was our first time there but hopefully not our last.

BonelessÆsir

Absolutely stunning

Jocelyn Cox

Great facilities, beautiful scenery and hikes of all varieties of intensity!

Hailin Wu

Unforgettable views. Great camping choices. Stayed at the rustic cabins. Nice relaxing getaway. There's plenty to see and do. The drive up the penninsula is fantastic.

harald schmidt

Absolutely gorgeous park and one of the best drives in Canada. The tablelands walk is a must.

Steven Breakingbury

Gros Morne National Park is rustic, vast and just beautiful ~ a great outdoor playground for those who enjoy the outdoors (hiking, kayaking, biking, camping). Visit the Tablelands, Gros Morne Mountain and the visitor's center. Have a look at their interpretive program schedule and attend a lecture or guided hike. They also have indoor attractions, such as Lobster Cove lighthouse for those who are perhaps less adventurous.

James Canning

Breathtaking, accessible, informative.

Aaron Rae

Beautiful park. Very clean, well maintained....

Marius Ngenzi

Always a nice visit to the park. Lots to see and do.

Darren Redl

Beautiful drive, really enjoyed time on the rocky beach at the shipwreck. Lots of places to turn off and enjoy the view.

Austin Flaherty

Hit as many look off spots as you can. Consider staying on the Rocky Harbour side of the park as many of the trails are there. We stayed in Trout River and got to start our day at the Tablelands trail and the day got better from there. Would love a map of lookoff spots as many aren't on the official park map. A beautiful drive, hikes, sightseeing and experience.

Ali Baigy

Beautiful park, I often just drive through the park because it's so nice. So many things to do here. Any tourist could easy take a week just in the park.

Eric Blair

Beautiful area of the west coast of Newfoundland a must see

John Crossley

Huge variety of scenery, geography, biology and exhibitions. Needs a few days to really get the best out of it all.

Nik Crawford

We did the Northern Rim and Long Range traverses in 2016. Including the hike up Gros Morne and a day trip to the Tablelands. The park itself is beautiful; the view down Western Brook Pond is incredible. I wish we'd have thought to take the boat tour as well for a different perspective of it. The park staff are wonderful people, very safety oriented, and exceptionally knowledgeable. The day use areas are well maintained and organized. If you happen to be on this side of Newfoundland, you should most certainly stop into the park.

Neil Gandhi

This park is a must see if you are in the east coast of Canada. I will never forget the summer fog in the early morning when we arrived in Newfoundland. Lots of exploring and view points to discover. I highly recommended booking a yurt for a memorable and relaxing experience

Donna Shen

Absolutely stunning area with diversity of landscape. We explored the Tablelands and Western Brook Pond as well as the scenic coastal communities.

Jeff Holdsworth

LOVE Gros Morne!

Scott Dalrymple

Stunning! Western Brook Pond Tour ????????????

Gary Pearston

Gros Morne National Park is one of the most beautiful national parks I have ever visited. You can find formidable trails, idyllic villages and wonderful observations decks. You should at least take two days and if possible more to discover the incredible beauty of this big park. My favorites were Tablelands, Discovery Centre Lookout, Southeast Brook Falls, Berry Hill and Bakers Brook Falls.

Julie Parrish

Spectacular beauty specially at the Western Brook Pond .Also hiking the Gros Morne mountain was a great experience .

Nikhil Menon

My boyfriend and I drove across the island to visit Gros Morne and it was worth every minute. The sights are breathtaking. However with the new construction taking place in Gros Morne National Park I will never visit again - they have completely destroyed the area with the construction to widen the walking trails, yes it was for a good cause but you could literally drive through the places you once could walk. It has changed the face of the park and not in a good way. I would not recommend visiting just for the simple fact that you will be disappointed.

Laird McGillivray

A national treasure This needs to be on a vacationer's must visit list. Take the time and enjoy the scenery, do a couple of hikes and do not miss the sunsets.

Vlad Samarin

What an amazing place. So much beauty. Well worth the trip

EastCoastATV

Beautiful hiking trails.

Delores Mackey

Fantastic scenery. Feels like Norway.

Ian Glashan

Spectacular scenery and scenic drives. Lots of hiking and other activities.

Frederic Desilets

One of the best national/provincial parks I have visited. Beautiful!

natalie thomas

Has to be seen in person to be appreciated. The hike definitely isn't the easiest but it is certainly worth while.

Tom Houston

An incredibly unique place!

David Bouwkamp

Way overrated. Was looking for peace, quiet and incredible scenery. Found none of that. Was not as beautiful as many other parts of Newfoundland. People being allowed to use their generator's in campsites is outrageous.

Rosa Lopez

Beautiful place to visit. Lots to see. Return visit is a must.

David Zinck

Do the climb. Wear proper boots, take 3 liters of water at least, apples or similar for energy snacks. You will hate me for awhile, but you will be glad you did it. Oh - the sign says 16 km - my Android watch indicates more like 24.

John Waltho

Wonderful scenery, great hikes.

Zainab Batto

A beautiful place with a diverse landscape and set of trails that easily accommodate all levels

Jan Olsen

If you enjoy hiking, you can hike one or two beautiful trails per day

Mike C

One of the best in Canada to explore for nature lovers. The views are breathtaking and hiking is pretty wild.

Theresa L

Just reminiscing about our time and adventures there. Truly one of the most spectacular places in Canada.

Kyle Ingram

Visited Tablelands. Highly recommended!

Brandon Coverdale

Beautiful you need a week at least to see and hike s fee trails

Margaret Millar

Fantastic visuals, great trails

Karissa Connors

Love it here! So many great places to visit and take in!

Helena Dang

Canada is known for national parks. This Gros Morne is one of our treasures. So much to do for all different levels of activists: walking, hiking, kayaking, boat tours, etc. Definitely take a boat tour. Just prepare yourself for a long walk to board the boat though.

Helena Dang

This place is absolutely magical. The scenery and people are second to none. From the pristine ocean beaches to deep glacier carved bays there is something for everyone.

Lacy Sereduk

Beautiful! Definitely worth the trip. The hike to the summit was difficult but the hike back down was absolutely brutal! Bring 3 litre of water for sure whether you think you'll need it or not as you never know if your companions might. Also, take a lunch AND snacks to keep you going on the trail. It's honestly more of a climb than a hike. I wondered why there weren't photos after the summit and figured that out for myself. By the time you reach the summit, you're too exhausted to care to take photos! Bring bug spray!

Patrick Dean

Beautiful scenary lots of trails for who loves hiking!

Jeff Taylor

The park was just beautiful and a few times we got to see animals. Did some good hikes and got to have a nice camping spot.

Robert Cass

Endless trails for all abilities.

Greg Persichini

Wonderful place to hike and see breathless landscape!

Lindsey Ross

Excellent time here. The trails we did were well marked and maintained. Our campsite (Green Point) was a favorite. The staff here were impeccable and the facilities are renovated and lovely. Beautiful ocean views from the site. Only downside to the whole thing was getting to the visitor info at 7:50 and being told they were already closed. We turned off the main drag after seeing their sign saying "Open til 8". The girl working was less than polite / annoyed at us needing a map.

Paul McCluskey

Spectacular views, great hikes and excellent campgrounds!

Genevieve Rice

Looks like a scene from Jurasic Park!Beautiful scenery throughout

Amanda Frank (This Wild Life . Co)

Just waooo. Big/beautiful natural place. Give time to enjoy

Joey Fairlawn

One of the most beautiful place you will ever visit hands down

J Burgess

The James Callaghan Trail is outstanding! Bring lots on energy, food and water, because it'll take you 10 to 12 hours. Oh, and a quality camera. It's quite a challenge!

Kim Wood

Gros Morne is a must-see destination. Western Brook Pond? Just do it! Don't miss out on the amazing hiking trails and views. Plan to spend a week or more - a few days is just not enough.

Mark K

Probably the most amazing place we have ever brought our children. It couldn't have been better. The facilities were out of this world, I've never seen nicer at a camp site. All of the towns were quaint and lovely. The swimming pool and aquarium are Lifesavers on rain days. And the hikes were easily some of the coolest we've done. A trip we will never forget!

Jennifer Armstrong

Most beautiful part of NL.

Simon Knight

Breathtaking views. Kind of feels like you're in Lord of the Rings. Favourite trails were Gros Morne mountain, the Tablelands, Western Brook pond, Coastal Trail, and Berry Hill. Definitely recommend!

j s

Beautiful trip with my family!! Wonderful scenery, service. The people couldn't be any friendlier. Thank you

Clint Sare

No internet facility @camp spots but only @ kitchen & wash room location.

V BS

Worthwhile spending your whole vacation in this area. You have to go north to see icebergs. Be prepared for rain and sun and cool temps all on the same day.. But you will love it.

Kirk Myers

Very difficult hike, but worth it. Take lots of water on hot days, make sure you are in good shape for the hike

Yu Chen Hou

One of the best national parks I have visited in both the US and Canada. Not too crowded and the campsites are clean and close to beautiful beaches and viewpoints.

Derek Plays

Amazing place, lots to see and do. A must visit if you find yourself on Newfoundland

Andrew Weiss

Awesome trip! Trout river pond is a place we wish to revisit! Beautiful scenery.

Peter MacMurchy

The views are amazing, we set off just at sunrise, got to the top with a beautiful haze but still clear... The walk is hard and the ground loose so wear good shoes and take plenty to drink, also it is windy up there! The walk down is easy and again breath taking views all the way through. Well worth it, enjoy ????

Robert White

The most beautiful park in Newfoundland. Majestic fjords, beautiful trails, etc

David Tay

Beautiful coastline and mountains. Take the hike up to Gros Morns mountains for a terrific view

Alex Cameron

Trout River - Another awesome town at the end of the road

Linda Baribeau

Beautiful landscapes to discover, hiking trails for all levels, a must see!

Rick Lippert

Beautiful! I could live here. This was one of my favourite trips. The views, the scenery, all amazing. No matter where you go in the park there is something to see. You HAVE to check out the park if you go to Newfoundland. It truly is breathtaking!

Nicole Simpson

This should be one of the place you see before you die! Awesome geological features. Great hiking. Beautiful drive through the park. Interpretive centres, park rangers, etc

Ted Moore

Gros Morne National Park. Berry Hill campground. Very nice. Lots of trees. Gravel pad. Big and smaller lots. Clean. Lots of RV and tents. Quiet. No moose yet.

Thomas Isidean

Scenery park is worth to go

Leah Yang

Beautiful but can be very busy with some full parking lots.

Vicky Aillerie

Western Brook: the boat ride and guides are great! But..shame on Parcs Canada who do not provide some kind of motorized access ...there is a road on which small vehicles regularly travel already (used by Parc Canada employees- who smile as they pass struggling elderly people or those being pushed on wheelchairs) ..no reason why access - at least for those in need- cannot be provided, even if there is a fee for the service! I hope someone in Parcs Canada gets this message!

Ravi S.

Love this park, driving the coast, good camping, a place to get away

Leona Zhou

Really really nice national park. We almost went to all trails in the park but the ones closed due to flood damage.it has two parts. The part along the trout river generally has lake and mountain view. The best part is it has very very pure water and it's tap water tastes like spring water. Please fill up all of your container before you go to the side of the ocean views. The little town there has lots of cottages and all have a great view. BUT it's tap water is a bit yellow and it had a bit strange smells when you boil it. I don't dare to use such water and bought several gallons of pure water from the general store and it is very expensive. Anyway we had a very good time in the park and we did a lot of good hikings.

Sayer Patterson

The drive there is amazing.. the destination is unbelievable! Perfect hiking trails and scenery!

Jerri Long

Gros Morne National Park, NL is a jewel and a treasure in Canada's National Parks. Nature in its natural untouched beauty providing many great hiking trails including the Gros Morne Mountain climb.....what a majestic view at the top.

Robin Hills

An amazing place. The landscape will leave you breathless!

John Rice

Excellent visitor center, wonderful views, and mostly great campsites! Fascinating geology all over the park and helpful rangers. One campsite had no clean water (it was all chlorinated and unavailable for drinking, showering, etc.), but the rest of the park was great.

Thom Rym

This is the place to be in New Foundland. It has it all: the authenticity of local living, beautiful sceneries and lots to do (hiking, boat tours, zip lining, kayaking and more). We have to return again! Only thing is accomodations are difficult during mid July. Book ahead.

Abhishek Shirke

Rangers are extremely helpful and friendly. Facilities are in good shape. Location is breathtaking.

Ron Mosocco

Last June during our 3 month tour of Canada we said goodbye to the beautiful St. John's and drove 7 hours across Newfoundland in a driving rain and fog to Deer Lake. Today we drove north, parked our car and hiked in over an hour (for some 2+ hours, check the map and make sure you have the proper hiking attire and are dressed appropriately) to catch our boat tour of the magnificent landlocked fjord. There were low hanging clouds and steady light rain. The top of the fjord mountains were sheared off by glaciers. The views were humbling to realize we are all grains of sand in the whole scheme of things. It will all be here long after we've returned to dust. The face of the Tin Man etched on a cliff. Moose tracks and wild berry bushes as far as the eye can see. Things starting to come alive. This was one of the days for the memory book. One of the world's cleanest lakes untouched by man. This has to be one of the world's most beautiful National Parks. Everyone should have this on their bucket list. Just do it! Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.

Donald Sleno

Beautiful scenery. Challenging hiking. Westbrook Pond boat tour is awesome. Climbing Gros Morne was difficult but worth it

Greg Armstrong

Gorgeous place to visit. You can hike or canoe in the park. Killdevil is a nice campsite.

One of the classic national parks to visit. Great variety of hiking trails and scenery. We appreciated the daily activities, helpful staff at visitor centres, and how uncrowded it was even in July.

ghuzna fatima

AMAZING Park! Spend as much time as you can here. There are countless trails, sights and wildlife to experience and explore! I try to get here at least once a year and always leave in awe!

Julie Cayer

Absolutely loved the hike here. Would highly recommend!

Susan Blanco

Beautiful National Park in Newfoundland Canada. Give yourself at least two days to visit.

Roger Plamondon

Gros Morne offers a variety of activities such as every other park, at the same time has its uniqueness. The boggy habitat at one spot changes to Tablelands. Trout River and coast driver of the park is beautiful as well. Fabulous place to spend time in.

Fred Yousefi

Beautiful scenery. If you are spending a few days here get a annual park pass. There is lot to do here. There are a lot great RV parks and camp sites.

Ann Shivas

A very beautiful hiking place. There is a rocky climb. Hikers must be in decent shape to get up that section. We were lucky and saw some moose.

Samantha Lamb

What a beautiful place. Everywhere you turn is a photo waiting to be taken.

Trishia Acorda

Wonderful Trip !!! Will be back

Viktor

Beautiful place it really is, but I'd like to see more look outs that have bathrooms and or picnic tables...

krystalynn manu

Lots of good day hikes to choose from. Make sure to visit Tablelands.

Davide Marai

Beautiful! Scenic! I highly recommend the hike to gross morne.

Rebekah Wheadon

Absolutely staggering views! There are many places to explore, although speak with guides at the discovery centre before venturing forth on to trails. Some have inconsistent information about elevation and difficulty. A Parks Canada employee is your best bet!

Kaveh Nateghi

Pictures just cannot capture the sense of well being that settles on you as you trek around different areas of the park.

Phil Lynch

Amazing landscape. Wonderful hiking. If you are visiting Newfoundland, this is worth adding to your itinerary

Trevor Reid

Wow this is a beautiful national park land wirh no end to the trails to hike and awesome scenery.

Heather Reandy

Wow! Just wow! Beautiful sights everywhere. Be prepared to walk a lot and see remarkable sights.

Ryan Wark

Beautiful and scenic area. Lots to see, many hiking trails, quaint small towns, a few places to eat, and even buy fresh seafood. Love this place, and even though it's 4 provinces away, I think I'll go again. One of the best parts of our trip to the East coast.

Derek Devries

Very beautiful park with many worthwhile trails. Se Western Brook Pond and climb the mountain but don't forget to see the other little trails along the way.

Ken Butt

Such an amazing place for everyone. Amazing camping facilities and showers were nice and clean. Very clean trails and we'll kept. Staff was very friendly and it was an bewitching experience.

Andrew Carriere

One of my favourite parts of NL, a must do If you are on the west coast of NL. A very beautiful park with lots of fun trails.

Jon Smith

I wish I could rate this park 1000 stars. It’s so beautiful and the landscape is truly unique and outstanding. I’ve been dreaming about going back since the day I left.

Lynne Hatt

This place is monumental in natural spirit. To breath in its intoxicating beauty is to have experianced a true wonder. There are only a handful of places in the world that are even in the same ball park as this.Deffinetaly a "Bucket List" item, if I ever saw one.

Mick Shea

We did the Taste of Gros Morne food tour and tried some of the best food in NL. The seafood chowder at the Black Spruce Inn was heavenly and I cant find another bowl like it.

Boneta Hensley

Gorgeous views, lots of trails, fresh air and very friendly folks

Jeremy Mitchell

We visit Gros Morne at least once during our visit to the island and are amazed everytime. We hiked the lookout trail and the view was well worth the effort!

Alan Steed

The Berry Hill campsite is great. Our site had its own firepit and was fairly private. The facilities are great as well. The park itself is absolutely gorgeous and I definitely plan to visit again.

A L

Cannot recommend this park enough. Be sure to go on hikes!

Tiffany Wong

Love outdoors, you will love it

Lucy Gedney

Amazing

Danika Couture-Peck

One of the most majestic national park I’va ever visited. Clearly a must if you visit Newfoundland. In 2 days and a half we visited the Tablelands, Lobster Cove, Broom Point, Green Point, we climbed the Gros-Morne and we did the boat tour on the Western Brook Pond. We stayed at the Berry Hill camping, which is pretty central and let you get pretty much anywhere easily (except for the Tablelands which are pretty far but still worth it). We did the free guided tour of the Tableland which was really informative and completed the wonderful landscape perfectly. So many beautiful memories in this park!

Febronia Stephanus

Good video guide with GPS tracking and clear explanations. The scenery was incredible and the museum was very interesting

Dawn Smith

very impressed!!! Wish I could spend more days here (2 days are a bit short for me )

Adam s

Awesome park! Great ranger guided walks and hikes. Need at least a week to fully experience the park. The weather can be fickle and can make or break your visit. On a sunny day Newfoundland is hard to beat ...

Lindadiana Hill

Beautiful. Not a long walk in and mostly flat. Walkway was wide and had a couple stopping points along the way. Flat lands allowed for a breeze even on a hot day. The fjords were absolutely stunning.

Sebastian Kluth

Beautiful landscape and a must see!

Desmond Hedderson

A landscape and wilderness experience like nothing else in Canada. The views are breathless and endless, the hikes unbelievable, the fjord tours and ocean unforgettable. Our family could have spent a month visiting here!

Martha Cox

No words can describe the views. Just wish parks Canada would control the price a bit or offer a boat service on their own at a lower price.

Courtney Morse Rao

Out of this world visuals. Take lots of time visiting this park. I come here several times a year and always find something new to see.

Carla Sheedy

Had a fantastic 3 days of sightseeing and hiking in the park!

Judy Hung

We had a blast here at the Gros Morne National Park! We started the day with Tablelands & Trout River, so unique! Did the Western Brook Pond hike/boat tour; breathtaking views (make sure you book the boat tour online and have cash with you; 65$ per person for 2-hours knowledgeable and entertaining boat tour). The fishing museum/houses at Broom Point is quite interesting as well. At Green Point, there’s 6km of coastal trail. We also had a blast at Lobster cove lighthouse, saw an arctic hare there! Just driving in the mountains is a blast!!

Gala Vasilitseva

Lots to do for the whole family, beautiful scenery boat tours and trails of different endurance levels.

Richard Boyd

Stunningly beautiful, even in the pouring rain. We camped at Berry Hill last night & appreciated the hot showers, no loonies needed-they were free and we'll kept up. The Wi-Fi is also included & strongest near the cook house. Our campsite was near, but not next to, and we got good connectivity. Tonight we're at Trout River camp. No electricity, but we've got solar & batteries. When we arrived and drove around to pick our site, I noticed WiFi was strongest near the cook house. Great time is happening

Nick Naprstek

a treasure waiting to be discovered -- numerous hiking trails, both coastal and mountainous, beautiful vistas, sites of archaeological and geological fascinating, dotted with fishing outposts. Only downside is that good food is hard to find.

Ken Earle

Beautiful trip. Great hiking trails

Chris Sanfino

It's an amazing park with excellent trails and astonishing views. It's better not to drive at night since the are 2 moose per sq km and it could be dangerous.

A C

Berry Hill campsite is the cleanest kept campground I have ever been stayed at. Took in the major sites and could easily have spent another several days there.

Jay Weeks

Amazing place. Could easily spend a week here

MovieBuffReal The Second

An extraordinary part of the planet. The Parks Canada Tablelands guided walk is excellent. Guide Christine is superb. The whole park is stunning!

Priscilla Bacchus

The backcountry in the views here are just spectacular you must take a couple hikes and get on the boat ride you will not be disappointed

PAUL L.

While we were here we hiked and camped at Green Gardens, which was amazing. Did the Western Brook boat tour which was expensive but also great. Hiked and camped at Snug Harbour, which was beautiful (had a moose stroll by to boot), but the trail was extremely rugged (two river crossings, one of which is waist deep, and a very muddy trail). Overall the park was absolutely amazing.

Donny Moore

Great place to take my friends and family that are not familiar with the region. Don't come here expecting to see it all in a day . Or even a week. It's a park that keeps on giving with its diverse landscape and activity set. You will love it here. Visit some of the town's located in its vast landscape and take in the views. You won't regret the visit. Or multiple, i find myself in the region multiple times per season . Never gets old

mark hickey

Amazing experience, breathtaking views and scenery. You must make a trip out even if you're not from newfoundland, its very obvious why its a unesco world heritage site!!! The table lands are like nothing ive ever seen before, and the hiking and walking in the park is world class for sure!! If youre adventurous they have multi day hikes as well and gros morne mountain is extraordinary!!!

Natalia Ourban

Place of serene beauty, interesting geological formations and enjoyable drive on a well maintained roads. Be sure to take Fjord boat tour, you will see some amazing views. Stayed for a week in a nearby city and loved every day of it.

Sacha Paquet

Pristine park with amazing views and experiences and minimal crowds

Mr Lofty

Fabulous fjordland boat trip to see waterfalls a few hundred metres high, well worth the 40 minute walk, but wrap up warm regardless of the season. Great staff with some amazing skills on the spoons.!

Jernej Slak

beautiful park with lot's of hiking paths and so kind park rangers that help you out with things you need to know ... amazing experience

Chris Halliday

Sooo underrated! Really Beautiful Province????

David Webster

I've seen spectacular sights all over the world, but Gros Morne National Park is one of my favorite places on the planet. The scenery here is simply stunning. I've been here a few times, and the sights still take my breath away. Amenities include nice, well equipped campsites, helpful, knowledgeable staff, informative visitor centers and hiking trails appropriate for people of every level of physical fitness. To get the most out of your visit, I recommend taking part in as many guided hikes as you can -- Parks Canada guides offer a wealth of knowledge, and can often get you to spots that you might not have thought of going to on your own. There are a couple of guided Tablelands hikes that are especially interesting. The hike up Gros Morne mountain offers particularly spectacular views, if you're up for a challenging day hike on rugged terrain. If you want something a little more down to earth, the Western Brook Pond trail is very flat and easy to walk on, and it offers amazing views of a land-locked fjord unique to this park. While you're there, the boat tour of Western Brook pond is well worth the price. A must for any Canadian nature-lover's bucket list.

Bryan Russell

It's stunning and the park interpreters are very entertaining and knowledgeable. Camp grounds are clean and well laid out.

Vincent Ruest

Stunning scenery, great hiking good camping facilities

Ron Karpel

Wonderful guided tour beautiful scenery

Master iOqY

This is a bucket list destination! 20 Hiking trails from easy to challenging against a variety of landscapes and weather patterns - a week won't be enough to see and experience everything. The park is huge so plan your activities accordingly e.g. the north end of the park past Cow Head is over 120 kms. away from the tablelands in the south. Tiny towns are nestled within the park too and are filled with friendly folks that are passionate about where they live and work. A must see!

Davis D. Janowski

One of the most beautiful places in the world. As an American who traveled to several of our nation's most popular national parks when a child in the 1970s and now laments how crowded and over-used and stressed many are it was simply astounding to spend a week at Gros Morne in 2012. Even at the height of Canadian tourist season it was empty when compared to any of the most popular US national parks. And the landscape is spectacular. From the Tablelands to Western Brook Pond the landscape can seem otherworldly---literally---the Tablelands are a World Heritage site and one of the few places on Earth that the mantle rises to the planet's surface. The Tablelands more resemble Mars, with its reddish tinted rocks and soil than what you would expect of a lush green North Atlantic province (and a drive down the main highway distinctly shows the contrast, green on one side as far as the eye can see and red on the other). Western Brook Pond is simply otherworldly as well. A beautiful wooded, then boggy set of landscapes unfold before you during the multi-kilometer hike to the pond's shore, where tour boats take you into this very remote fjord now closed to the sea. Towering cliffs surround you with abundant waterfalls descending every few hundred meters, with thick forest covering any land not too steep for them. At the eastern end a floating dock beckons the backpacker who has pre-registered to hike out the 38 miles through a seemingly impossible gorge trail. These are a mere few highlights. The people of Western Newfoundland are warm and welcoming and there is good lodging to be had as well as plenty of hiking, camping, and wilderness backpacking opportunities. This all describes the brief warm months. Winter here is evidently an entirely different matter.

Gary Randall

Rossmoor news also a UNESCO world heritage site, in addition to being a national. It is Spectacularly Beautiful !!!

PETER B. MAHNKE

A beautiful park! Amazing scenery and very friendly people!

Wade Anderson

Gorgeous park, but the trail is extremely rocky and dangerous. Husband fell on rocks and got terribly cut up; had to be rescued.

meagan markus

The difference in ecosystems in this park from site to site is incredible. I had wanted to go here for years and it lived up to every expectation. Tablelands and Cowshead are a must see.

CHC325

10 miles / 16km great views. We were a little worried about the clouds in the morning but they did clear off just as we got to the top. The way down was not what I expected after the rock slide trail on the way up.

Eden Zhang

Gros Morne is just beautiful. With limitless hiking options and tons more, you can never run out of things to do. The Table lands are a must see, with a landscape reminiscent of Mars. You might even see moose on the side of the road! Rocky Harbour is a great place to stay, with many local restaurants and cottages.

SouthWestern Mech.

Beauty is sooooo Intense, not everyone can Handle. Park is one of its kind. I hope i could have visited the whole park, but believe me its impossible

Justin Pelley

Great scenery. Great trails.

Kevin W

What can we say more about this breathtaking site? Definitely worth the trip!

Michael E

Need to spend more time here. There is so much to see!

Shane Anderson

Awesome sights...Western Brook Pond tour is super beautiful and a "must do". Tableless tour is another "must do" too. Can't do Gros Morn in single day!! Take your time, you'll be amazed.

Lawrence Chan

Beautiful park. Very well kept. Definitely make sure you have proper hiking shoes for hiking the mountain. Doesn't take full 8 hours if you keep a steady pace!

Rodney Reynolds

Love it! Hiked Gros Morne and felt more alive. Interpretation staff are all world class. Stayed in Rocky Harbour. Some of the stores in the center were entitled tourist traps. One place wanted to arbitrarily charge my 5 year old 19 dollars for a 6 dollar beanie boo doll and just watched her cry because she didn't have enough. That will always stick with me. Bottom Brook Cabins, however, was wonderful with a great fire pit and beautiful down to earth owners.

Matthew Goulding

Absolutely a beautiful park. There is a tonne of different things to do for anyone that's interested in outdoor activities, hiking, biking, kayaking and boating. There is also a lot of stuff to do in the local area! Art shows, music concerts, snowmobiling in the winter, this are of Newfoundland is a national treasure

Josh Tabor

Ok, I drove 4 days to get here. It’s was completely worth driving.

Ganeswara Rao Melam

Loved it. Great views of mountains and the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Tim Wall

We did a few hikes in the area. Baker Brook Falls was a great hike throug marshes and forest. Easy terrain and some great views. Climbing Berry hill before or after is a must to make this trip worth while.

Luke M

Bad weather today. High winds and rain. We had to turn back. Great scenery

Brent

Beautiful. Old Appalachian mountain range. Think Rocky Mtn with the tops shorn off. Rocky Harbour is wonderful and has a wonderful hotel called Oceanview owned by Steel Hotels. The best cruise/tour is Norris Point. Very informative. Guides born and raised in Norris point. Lots of history of the area and know about the life of Newfoundlanders and their trials. Great cruise of the Lobster Cove, Rocky Harbour and Norris Point. Lots of good hiking trails and beautiful scenery!

Tim C

I recommend the boat ride on the lake it is very nice.

Andrea Burton

Beautiful! The views are stunning, highways are good inside the park. We found a cheap campsite in the park ($20 tent camping, full services ????). The hiking was awesome. The only catch was we had a hard time finding a restaurant with a sea food planter to share.

Shelsea Saint-Fleur

WOW, JUST WOW! This national park is way nicer than we expected!! There are tons of hikes to …

Ryan Peddle

Amazing views and experiences. Park staff is amazing. Roads are in great shape and lots of signage for attractions. Highly recommend.

Rhain Louis

Beautiful landscape, fabulous historical sites and traditional buildings

Joanna Zycki

Absolutely amazing!! Amazing landscape, hikes (for all levels), camping, and art scene. Cool towns and small diners/pubs. Would go back again for sure!! I even noticed that some of the trails are wheelchair accessible.

Margie Colbourne

Seriously, I don't know how anyone could give less than 5 stars. Perhaps one of Canada's most beautiful parks, what more could you ask for?

Kamlesh Parmar

Gros Morne National Park is a Canadian national park and world heritage site located on the west coast of Newfoundland. At 1,805 km2 (697 sq mi), it is the second largest national park in Atlantic Canada after Torngat Mountains National Park, which has an area of 9,700 km2 (3,700 sq mi).

Elizabeth Gleason

It was a great study in wilderness optics: Wonderful views, fantastic scenery, awesome trails and literally breathtaking moments to stash away in your memory bank of superlative experiences!!

Kefkaspawn (Kefkaspawn)

WOW...absolutely awe inspiring and mesmerizing.

Blair Cox

Beautiful place to hike. A full day adventure on the mountain. There are a lot of worth while trails in the park

melissa roelofsen

A huge national park with many days worth of hiking and sightseeing. There are several different areas - all with distinct geological features. A treasure trove for hikers and sightseers, which is well maintained by Parks Canada. I wish our visit was longer; looking forward to visiting again... it'd be great to see the fjords and tablelands in winter.

Syn Tax (Dr Gonzo)

Newfoundland is a beautiful scenic place, Gros Morne is no exception. We have hiked the mountain at least six times and it is always still just as beautiful as the first time. There have been some changes to the west coast due to construction but everything is still as beautiful as ever. If you visit Newfoundland or you live here.....the West Coast drive through the Viking trail and Gros Morne park is the way to go. Lots of places to stop for pictures and beautiful scenery everywhere you look.

Cat Zass

Gorgeous sights and an incredible adventure. A must see for all Canadians.

Barry George

A beautiful park with so many hikes and views and paddle. There are many campgrounds in the park, we've stayed at several and enjoyed them all.

Katherine Ogden

Isn't this Vinland Technically this was founded by an Irish Sailor. Am I wrong????

Christian Payne

Climbed Gros Morne with friends. The views are absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommended to climb to the summit, the views on the way back down are incredible.

Viktoriya Muradova

Beautiful park with lovely hikes and many different small little amazing towns

Bryan Swift

absolutely stunning! giant cliffs...just a shame you must pay $250 for a guided day hike, not allowed to go solo

Gabe Ryan

This is a beautiful National Park for hiking and enjoying Nature. We really loved it

Ingo Tews

Beautiful place Beyond breathtaking

Chaitravi K

Stunning. One of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Shawn Weir

Really enjoyed the scenery of the park with many breath taking views but it is an expensive tourist trap. If I come back I may try camping instead and cooking my own food.

lucas lahey

The natural beauty is beyond compare. You could explore the area for days.

David Brenton

A gorgeous part of the country. You can spend days just wandering through all the small towns.

Kyle Ralph

What can we say that hasn't been said before, Gros Morne National Park is a true wonder, majestic in its beauty and at every turn of the road the scenery gets better and better.

Deborah Kuo

Stunning views and trails. Lovely people at the local restaurants and at the Gros Morne Discovery Center. Very well worth the time and effort to travel here. A national treasure- take only pictures and leave only footprints.

James VanDeCar

don't miss the Western Brook Pond boat tour...awesome!

Lee Woodworth

Beautiful tour. Very easy walk. Stops every couple minutes for exposition. English and French. Total distance is around 2 km.

Karen “kokopelli” Haehn

I’m from St. John’s but it’s took me 54yrs to visit Gros Morne! Don’t wait another year you too must visit - a beautiful and scenic park with hikes for every level! So much to see and do ! Take your time and enjoy it all .,

Mandy Bennett

We only barely scratched the surface of what can be seen and done in this beautiful park, but walking on the Earth's mantle in the Tablelands and taking in the breathtaking views was an unforgettable experience.

Kaylee Sullivan

Great hiking, but pretty remote and erratic weather. Guided tours are expensive.

Rachelle Sparkes

The most amazing place. In the picture is a mountain called the Elephants Head . It's in Trout River, NL. Heart of Gros morne national park.

Amanda M

The beauty will absolutely take your breath away! Pictures do not do it justice. There's so much to do, it would take multiple trips to see it all.

Cassondra Parsons-Saunders

This place is magical. So much to do IN the park, but also around the park, dining, music, etc. The Ranger-led walks and talks were all fantastic....spend a few days and do all or these, interspersed with hikes and capped off with beer and music.

Helen Bagshaw

Incredible views and hiking trails for all levels. If you are in Newfoundland, make sure this place is on your list!

Jon Otto

The park has many activities for both sunny and rainy days. The Tablelands and West Brook Pond are a must see.

Erin B

Perhaps the most beautiful Canadian National Park. Such varied terrain. A geological masterpiece.

Jordan Ritchie

Outstanding beauty and scenery. Definitely see both sides of the park!!

tycoon kaiser khan

It's the most beautiful place to visit in the summer or winter.

Ravi Canada

Nature at its best. Beautiful drives and trails. Fjords view are scattered and need to travel a bit to cover all of them. Travelled during Sep when fall colors were not yet changed. Had an amazing trip #2020

Gordon Muscroft

Beautiful scenery driving through the park. There were reports of moose in the area. There is a lot of moose in the park so drive carefully. The trans Canada drive S along the Ocean

Chelsi Doyle

A true east coast gem and a must before you leave.

Nikita Regular

Amazing and beautiful and worth every hurting muscle today lol the views are stunning!!! We did the summit.

Jason Sharpe

What a breathtaking drive with plenty of scenic sights for lots of pictures.

Ken Jones

We began our hike of Gros Morne at 8:30 in the morning and finished our hike at about 4 in the afternoon. My partner and I embarked on this hike as 23 and 25 year old's who are not that experienced of hikers but confident in completing trails that have been marked and done so many times in the past. The trails here are clear for the beginning but then as you get closer to the top you will experience changes on landscape several times. As you approach the top, you will be hiking up a rocky passage that may require you to use your hands. You will also pass a ice sheet that has a foot path on it - my recommendation is not to use it. The potential for your foot to burst through and risk getting injured is pretty high. When you arrive at the top, take the time to walk around the top of Gros Morne - maybe enjoy your lunch. The top has incredible views from all sides! We spent 1.5 hours at the top of Gros Morne; so if we didn't spend that time, we would have completed the hike in 6.5 hours. The way down is definitely harder than the way up - hiking up an elevated path is a lot easier than coming down a jagged, rocky and uneven path. It is by far the more challenging point of the hike! Overall, great hike and not to be missed if you're spending time in Gros Morne!

WIlla Navarro

A wonderful place to visit! Note that the park is far more spread out that you might expect- plan your visit to cluster nearby highlights together. If visiting Green Point, plan to attend a ranger-guided walk. There is no signage or markers for the areas of geological importance, so the interpretation is critical to understanding how truly amazing the place is.

Derrick Jamieson

Really enjoyed the park and surrounding areas. Lots to see and do. Nice people.

Dean Young

Truly an amazing area. The perfect place to go for outdoor lovers

Pauline pennell

Hiking the Gros morne was a good workout but rewarding. We lapped it in 5 hours at a steady pace including lunch and pictures time.

Norma Lisoy

Absolutely spectacular Park. The scenery is beyond description. So many things to see and do, but so little time. The ocean, the fishing villages, the trails and not to be missed the Western Pond Fjiords

James

A beautiful Park great location and excellent hiking trails

Tony Scott

What a wonderful, scenic part of our province. I can't believe I've gotten this long without visiting before. Don't make the same mistake that I did. Visit and enjoy!

Laurie Nishida

Beautiful place. Lots to see and do. People are very friendly.

Glenn Kanai

So beautiful looking at the Tablelands

Danny Burns

Simply Stunning! Such a peaceful place and tons of hiking trails and scenic spots.

Andrew Hindell

Fantastic place must see

T. O'Quinn

Best park on Canada's east coast and the most stunningly beautiful scenery in Newfoundland. Western Brook pond is a must. Only.place I have been to compare is British Columbia and the Rockies.

Wandering Minstrel

Amazing scenery with lots of hiking trails for the amatuer or the seasoned veteran. The boat tours are great and fairly inexpensive and there's a lot of great places to eat.

James V

This park is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen in my life. The hike to the top of Gros Morne mountain is well worth travelling from Toronto to Newfoundland for.

Eva Wong

There are wonderful sceneries everywhere in the park! Camping sites are beautiful and lots of trails are available for hiking!

Mike Hyde

Just amazing, once u make it to the top the views take your breath away.

Connie Lamswood

Unbelievable beauty! And so many great hikes for all levels of fitness and for different scenery

Mr. W

Awesome national park. You can spend weeks in there. Great place to spend time.

A. T.

Lots of trails of different lengths to choose from. Dissapointed by the lack of access to the most iconic spot in the park which is now accessible with private tour guide for an extremely high cost.

Patience Sampson

I mean they're not technically fjords but they're real cool. Bring sunscreen. Bogs are neat too. Tons of tourists though.

Matthew Sutton

The drive through Gros Morne is breathtaking. Western Brook Pond Trail is a well maintained pathway with a gorgeous view of Blue Flag, Orchids, and of course: the Fjords. I haven't hiked Tablelands since I was a child, but that too is a sight to behold. Next on my list is to hike Gros Morne itself. It should be a challenge, but well worth the struggle.

ZHU DI

So amazing, wonderful hiking experience, did it about 7hours. Pretty hard to get down because of lots of sharp rocks. But worth it.

Ashley Conn

Many things to see! We hiked Gros Morne Summit. Be prepared for a 6-7 hour hike if you're hiking Gros Morne Summit. I'm not a trained hiker and rarely even do cardio workouts, so this was challenging for me but I woukd do it again. The views are worth it.

Pam Pike

Nice campsite. Unfortunately no garbage cans by sites. Clean and kids loved the bouncy pad.

Juan Luis García Rodríguez

Highly reccomend the Shallow Bay campsites as they had more privacy then the Berry Hill campsites. Shower and dishwashing facilities were fantastic and kept quite clean. You can only buy wood from the park and we found (along with a handful of other campers) that the wood was of poor quality which made it difficult to get it to start burning. Overall a great experience and we will definitely return in a few years.

Glen Young

Always something new to discover here. Love the trails beauty of the park.

Larry Misener

Maybe one of the most beautiful areas in the world. Great service, great hikes and great views!!

Shane Card

a truly wonderful place to visit so much to see and do hiking trails everywhere the people are really friendly Parks Canada does an amazing job managing everything if you are going to do the climb to the top of gross morne just be prepared that it is a grueling hike that can take easily 8 or more hours of non-stop intense physical activity and that the dissent is probably significantly harder than the ascent

christopher gibbons

An amazing area to visit while in Newfoundland. Give yourself at least a week to do it all. It's a big area to discover. The boat tour is a must, as are the Tablelands.

Daniel Chung

What a great place to hike. Trails well marked. View is amazing! Best hike yet.

Ben H

The beauty of this place is breathe taking!

James Allen

Outstanding landscapes, Catchy views,, great camping sites, not crowded with tourists, in addition to an Excellent Visitor Help Center.

Dorothy Mccabe

Best park in Atlantic Canada

Alex Beck

Fantastic place, beautiful and peaceful. Team is fun and knowledgable. They take MasterCard in a wild and schedule is good

Paul Sheridan

One of the most spectacular places around ! All the visitor centers and help desks are clean and the employees are helpful and friendly!

Phil

Majestic and beautiful. Be sure to visit the tourist info centre for more background on the geology of the area!

Mac

UPD 2018-09. During 2018 the park's trails conditions went from bad to worse with many trails been indefinitely closed due to poor maintenance and huge repair backlogs. Unfortunately, park's priorities are in opening more junk food spots and not in maintaining the place the way it should be. Such a shame. ORIGINAL: Amazing place with incredible and diverse scenery from Gros Morne to Tablelands to Trout Brook Pond to West Brook Pond to Green Gardens to quiet sea coves to dramatic coastline walks and cute tiny fishing villages. Every place is very different from the other but all are equally stunning. The multi-day hiking trail that crosses the northern part of the Park is the best way to experience the scale of it all, but even the day hikes are rewarding enough to justify the visit to this rather remote place. Please stop first at either the Visitor Centre or Discovery Centre and talk to one of the great guides who will review your itinerary, advise of the closures and suggest the substitutes. I took 1 star off because of the so many trails that have been lost in the recent years, including the Green Gardens loop trail (only a small portion left) and the Snug Harbour trail that has been left mostly inaccessible for years since the collapse of the bridge at the trail head. Apparently the park had money to build a junk food joint nearby at the boat launch site but not enough to restore the bridge. Anyway, enjoy whatever is still available for now! It's a great place and it seams to get more and more crowded every year too. And that is for a reason.

Lorne Keith

Absolutely beautiful location filled with things to do. I visit every year to be with family and i'm always blown away by the scenery. Hikes in the Gros Morne National Park area are the best I have ever taken

Tracy Neiser

Been backpacking for 48 years, all over North America. Yellowstone. The Winds. Glacier. Grand Canyon. None of them, magnificent as they all are, are in this league. Want to do the Long Range Traverse? Bring your A-game. You'll need every bit of it. And you'll never be the same after.

Richard Crane

Fabulous. Everyone should visit Western Brook Boat Tour at least one time.

Dean Decker

This place is absolutely magical. The scenery and people are second to none. From the pristine ocean beaches to deep glacier carved bays there is something for everyone.

David Archer

Summited Gros Morne. I wouldnt call it a Grueling climb at all. Moderately Difficult with the Difgicult being the 1km ascent of 45 degrees with a rocky terrain. The rest what breathtakingly beautiful. Don't be intimidated or deterred from doing this climb! Enjoy

d s

Amazing scenery! The boat tour is well organized.

John Ames

Massive park. Lots of hiking trails and natural beauty. A must see.

Ro L

It's a truly beautiful part of Canada. Reserve spots at the national parcs and enjoy the stars at night. There is no such thing as light pollution. The trails are fun, there are some for all fitness types.

damon adul

Gros Morne was one of the highlights of our Newfoundland trip. Stunning landscape. The tablelands represent an unique geology and are as beautiful as it gets!

Julie Hanson

Beautiful part of the world from every perspective. Socially you are surrounded by amazing people, beautiful sights, and gripping geology.

Sarah Roy

The view is spectacular, a must visit on your list. Newfoundlanders are the friendlest. stayed in Rocky Harbour.

Scenery and landscape is spectacular! Such a large area to cover, we saw only a small percentage of the park. We will have to come again. People were friendly and the towns were picturesque.

Elizabeth Peddle

Lots to do .. hikes, boat tours, dinner theatre, and craft shops... beautiful scenery!

Donna Warren

Wow about the Tablelands, Western Pond, Rocky Harbour, Woody Point, Norris Point, Cow Head, Trout River, Broom Point Fishing Camp. We loved the coastal walk east of Trout River. We were there 4 days and could have spent a few more days there easily.

Over 70 kilometres of coastal beauty with saltwater and fresh water fiords. Part of the ancient Appalachian mountains. As a UNESCO World Heritage site Newfoundland boasts 1085 square kilometres as spectacular ancient geological world called the Gros Morne National Park.

Cora Quann

Stay @ Rocky Harbour and explore far as Port au choix.. Had a time with my great neice she loved it!!

Wanda G

This place is just stunning. Beautiful mountains and crystal clear lakes. Fjords that will take your breath away. Plenty of hiking and outdoor activities. This is truly a hidden gem on the east coast.

Adrian

What a natural wonder. If you enjoy hiking this is the place. If you enjoy beautiful scenery this is the place.

Lori Whalen

This place is majestic. I grew up around it, but never appreciated it. Went back on vacation last year and did the summit hike. All I have to say is wow!

Rene White

By far the most beautiful place I've ever seen I cannot recommend this place enough

Tracy Rogers

Gorgeous park. Worth spending a couple of days to explore it.

Rosalba King

A beautiful park and a wonderful tribute to Canada's beauty. We camped at Berry Hill Campground and there were wild strawberries, crunch berries and raspberries throughout the park. The washrooms were upgraded and very clean. One morning at 6 am. the cleaner was in the washrooms sweeping by flashlight because the power was off. That's dedication. No matter what time of the day or night, the washrooms were spotless. Very impressive. Overall it was a very pleasant stay (in spite of the rain)

Ryan Maclellan

Showing friends from the east coast of or province our very scenicwest coast.

Angus McLeod

Loved everything about this National Park. Even though some trails were closed after the winter, we found so many beautiful spots to visit and hike along!

Ian Melamud

Attended the comedy festival in Woody Point...it was fantastic...had a wonderful nights stay at the rooms...view was spectacular!

R D

There are many different levels of hiking provided in this National park. It's one of the gems! Great scenery, just be sure that you bring proper clothing for warmth and dryness in case it rains. Don't forget your camera!

voldi sucharzewski

Where the deep ocean crust and earth's mantle are exposed is one of the most interesting and beautiful sites I've visited and hiked.

Sandra McKellar,

If you like nature, then visit!

kelvin tan

Beautiful park. Thoroughly enjoyed the 3 days we spent there. Highlights include the Tablelands Trail (go for the 10am guided tour) and stopping at random lookout points.

Craig Cook

Very beautiful park, excellent hiking trails, lots to see, take several days at least, do your research planning ahead of time

Steve D

There's plenty to see and do when visiting Gros Morne including hiking the Long Range Traverse. This 35km trek takes you across the highlands deep in the outback. On a clear day views of Western Brook Pond, Ten Mile Pond and Gros Morne Mountain are truly spectacular! If you enjoy a challenge be sure to take in this awesome adventure.

Bonnie Schmidt

The boat tour was a great up close look at the features of the park. The commentary during the tour was very interesting and added to the experience. The walk in to the lake took about 45 minutes but the terrain is well groomed pea gravel with only two moderate size hills.

Eric Fernandes

Awe inspiring landscapes and amazing hikes, well worth the trek. Canadian rugged and natural beauty at its finest!

Neil Autton

Gorgeous park to hike through. Spent a week here and could spend another month! Roads are easy to drive and show breathtaking landscapes!

Tamara Matson

Great park with plenty of photo opportunities.

Derek Sellars

Quite possibly one of the most beautiful national parks I've ever been to. This place was amazing because of how underrated it is! Who knew a fjord existed in Newfoundland? We got to visit Western Brook Pond and it was as incredible as the photos. Who knew a desert could exist in a place as lush and green as Newfoundland? Definitely check out Tablelands and download the Gros Morne app in your phone to take an audio guided tour through Tablelands -- definitely some cool geology there. I'll definitely be coming back!

Derek MacKinnon

Very beautiful with lots of things to do and see. Pretty much the entire road through the park is under construction though.

Jonathan Drew

Amazing place. Check out everything you can. If you love nature don't be afraid of coming off high season. Try to connect with local guides and businesses. Remember to take your time.

Savannah Myers

BEAUTIFUL park, where you can see a fjord and tablelands! It's a shame that it isn't more often mentioned! Definitely worth visiting!

Maggie Kallion

What a great trip. One of my new favorite places I've been. Kayak in trout river pond, truly awesome.

Reem Al baqaen

I came to climb Gros Morne mountain and dragged my wife up there with me. 7.5 hours for the total hike with plenty of stops to take in the amazing views and some wildlife. Novice hikers be warned to dress for a huge drop in temperature and wear suitable shoes (hiking books are ideal). I suggest getting the steep rocky side out of the way first and loop back down using the staircase. The rocky footing would not make for an easy descent especially with how windy it can get. A great experience overall.

Frank Bow

Beautiful area. Great place to camp hike and lots more including lots of wild life around . Take the boat tour inside the mountain . A must see

Dan Pronovost

The most difficult part is the trek to get here. But it’s worth it all.

Melanie Jensen

Berry Hill, Shallow Bay and Norris Point were all beautiful today.

Tl Iguana

Stay @ Rocky Harbour and explore far as Port au choix.. Had a time with my great neice she loved it!!

Robert Tan

This is the most beautiful place in Canada after the Rockies, however the down home feeling in Newfoundland is next to none. If you are able, hike up to the peak of Gros Morne Mountain. The views are epic. Anyone wishing to call themselves a true Canadian, or internationals wishing to explore the great rugged beauty of our lands, must visit this corner of the country.

Joe Sullivan

We went hiking here and camped. Outstanding hikes and stunning views!

Roslyn Day

Blown away by the beauty of this place.

Julie Wadsworth

Incredible natural beauty. Long Range Traverse wilderness hike from Western Brook Pond up and across to Gros Morne Mountain....the hike of a lifetime.

Sam river

Beautiful park, breathtaking views and great hiking trails.

Chris Bell

One of the most amazing places I've seen. Mother nature at it's finest and at it's most artsy. The only way to describe this place is to say it's something everyone should have on their bucket list.

Tyrone Sheppard

Beautiful. Worth a trip to see all the beautiful colours and scenery

jeffrey weinberger

dan l

An amazing park for hiking at all levels as well as spectular sightseeing.

Sam Murphy

I grew up here. It's amazing place to visit and the scenery is spectacular!

Cameron Campbell

One of my favourite places in the world! This park is amazing, but you've got to out of the car and off the main road to really experience it. Be sure to get out and hike some of the trails - there is lots of variety from easy well maintained loops to backcountry map and compass multiday adventures (the long range backcountry route is a must for those with the experience and time to do it). There are also loads of great cultural activities to take in - from music to theater to great local food. Watch out for moose! And be sure to try a moose burger or some stew (don't worry there are too many of them and they are actually an envasive species introduce to NL about 100 years ago)

Rich Kopanke

More beautiful than I remembered. Hiked the green garden trail and found my new favourite place in Canada. Sitting in front of a small fire sipping a glass of red after a long day of hiking ... complete and utter peace. For those who enjoy the simple pleasures in life, GM should be very high on your list. And the staff deserve a shout-out. Very professional and friendly. Genuinely happy folks who enjoy their work. Kudos and ty :)

Megan Marcotte

One of the most beautiful national parks Canada has to offer. Highly recommend visiting in the summer time!

Van

Gros Morne is one of my favorite national parks. The scenery is amazing and the hikes are great. The Tablelands, Western Brook Pond, the Lookout and Gros Morne Mountain are all worth the drive/hike.

Carol Rennick

Biggest disappointment in my trip. They views were second to none but park staff were like rent a cops.

Valinda Damberger

Loved it. Favorite hikes were the Tablelands (get the free explora app) and Berry Hill

Sean Mccluskey

Absolutely beautiful and a good time to come without Tourists.
