One of the best sources of artifacts and info on the indigenous Beothuk people who inhabited island of NL for perhaps thousands of years before European settlers arrived.

Matthieu Roth

(Translated) A dozen showcases exhibiting the artifacts found and panels on the possible lifestyle of the Beothuk as well as a video. All in English only. Here is unfortunately the only evocation on the island of this exterminated people .. a necessary step for that! Possibility of going to the site of which nothing remains.

A must see to learn about the Beothuk. Our museum guide, I believe her name was Christine, was excellent!!! The walk to the archeogical site was very lovely, but come prepared for flies!!! The Spirit Garden is beautiful and special and I made a memorial ornament to hang with supplies that they give you at the centre. You can learn a lot here, even if you grew up learning about the Beothuks.

Absolutely must stop! It's so close to the highway why would you not. A really well done and interesting interpretive center. If you have the provincial historical pass it can be used here. Very cool to see and learn about the dig sites and the history here. We stopped in at the spirit garden as well which was a lovely and calm spot.
