Interesting Memorial University of Newfoundland marine research facility, worth a visit family orientated and includes a back room tour delivered by a knowledgable guide to get close up and personal to the local marine wildlife

Interesting aquarium, but maybe a bit expensive for the size. We didn't have anyone offer to talk to us about the fish, we just wandered around and looked at everything.

Great experience checking out the local marine life. You get to touch and see some of them up close. Including a 3 and 6 clawed lobster. A blue as well as a yellow lobster too! Check out the history upstairs as well to learn more about the local culture.

This research facility offers wonderful tours which worths a stop here. Great place for an indoor activity, specifically on a rainy day. Tour guides are co-op students who are studying in related fields. Nice view from here, specially on a clear day when you can see further.

Well worth a visit. Exceptional site on the water, nestled in a working town, and though compact was informative and enjoyable. Bring a lunch, there's a nice beach adjacent. If we had time we'd try the kayaking outfit next door.

It was with mixed emotions that we toured this impressive facility. Our daughter, then seven, was at times both startled and amazed at the sea life and tanks and enjoyed the descriptions of the young and energetic staffers. I found myself both angry at how we as a species can become so dependent on a single species (in this case cod) for our livelihoods and sympathetic to the population that suffered as a result of the moratorium on the cod fishery established decades before. It was heartening to see research being done on creating a sustainable and well-managed snow crab fishery and steps being taken to monitor the province's beautiful seemingly unspoiled ecosystem. The boat tour was grand as well, beautiful views of the surrounding bays and mountains.

Josh Tabor

The marine station was a perfect stop on a rainy day! They have several blue lobsters, cod, crab, and other various fish species on display. Lots of guided tours with lessons about the animals and history of the marine station. The parking is a bit of a pain and several cars were circling the small parking lot while we were there.

I had the privilege to be a Marine Biology Interpreter at this facility for a co-op term at my University. Even returning to the facility years later, the staff were friendly, educational, and presentable. Bonne Bay Marine Station is an excellent facility if you are wanting to learn more about the history of the area, and it's local species.

Wonderful staff. Great exhibits.

Mark

Good for a day with poor weather ! It is small , you can see over 50% of the area from the front desk so don't walk in thinking there is too much more. There are some static exhibits upstairs that were about the area and culture when we were there , and they were interesting. And there is an area behind the tanks that you can go with a tour guide. DEFINITELY time your visit to follow a tour guide through. You will learn MUCH more and get much more out of it. I don't think the entry fee would be worth while without a guided tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the field so it made this a great little stop for us while we waited for the sky to break before going kayaking out on the bay.

(Translated) “Nice touch tank for kids” The Bonne Bay Marine Station is located at the port of Norris Point and offers the opportunity to view or even touch various marine animals up close. It is divided into two, in the first part there are many interesting information boards that provide information about fishing and wildlife in the local waters. It also has a nice touch tank where you can touch some marine animals. The touch tank is particularly exciting for children and our little son enjoyed it a lot. In the second part there are many marine animals in different tanks, especially lobsters and crayfish but also fish and other marine animals that you can see up close. The whole area is not very big and after a maximum of one hour you saw everything. Still recommended especially for families with children.

Great place run by Memorial University to see some of the local aquatic life: some holding tanks containing a variety of animals, and a touch-tank for the kids. Staff were friendly, and the young kids had a good time. A little expensive for the time we spent there, considering there is a similar (but smaller) exhibit at Memorial University in St. John's which is free.

Anne Chaisson

Beautiful spot. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable . I learned so much about these marine creatures in the short time I spent there

Dylan Haynes

Grate place to go fun for everyone. Lots of cool things to look at. Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly
