It was very well laid out. Nice sandy beach. Shaded picnic area. Kayak, canoe, paddleboard etc rentals. This is the only place I've ever seen "loaner" life jackets for kids at the boat launch. An excellent idea. Only thing missing was a small concession stand. lol

It was very nice to come across a great set of outdoor fitness equipment in the middle of the park to do some pull-up sets, along with Bulgarian sit squats, box (rock) jumps, dips and push-ups.

Lovely park to wander through. Soooo many Canadian geese had taken over the fields which was a beautiful site. There is a little dock you can walk out on to... But be careful! It was incredible slippery and my friend almost completely bailed... I don't recommend anyone unsturdy or elderly trying to go down the ramp to the dock!!!

Beautiful park, get frequent maintenance and updates to its features. For instance, it just got a revamped workout-zone. The river is sweet too, and there are no mosquitoes. Just be warned that storms can happen fast.

Went down to Lakeside for a game of basketball with the nice spring weather. New hoops were awesome but whoever placed them and painted the lines clearly didn't think about the actual game of basketball and what is needed to play a real game. Good for a participation ribbon at least.

Lakeside Park in Nelson is a fantastic and very very well kept Park extremely clean and well maintained right to the beach to the soccer fields to the tennis courts and even the baseball diamond they have both houses or you could rent the boat kayak or canoe the venture out on the west arm in the Kootenays I have to say it's an amazing spot just the chills and have a picnic on a lazy Saturday afternoon

How this place is not in the list of many websites for a place to stop and see i don't understand. If you are looking for a place to rest and relax or a place for the family to enjoy this spot has it all. Cafe for food...check. Playground for kids...check. Beach to get some sun and enjoy the water...check. A place I recommend highly if you are stopping in Nelson. Beach sand is great not too rocky. Water is perfect temperature too cool down in on a hot day.

This park is great for families. Obviously by the lake. Nice place to go for a walk with a trail all along the lake from the bridge to the hotel. In the summer you can also rife the tram. This is a great park and beach that have unparalleled views of the waterfront and the bridge. There is wonderful beachfront as well as a grassy and shaded area with access to a wonderful little cafe as well. The gardens along side the park are beautifully maintained and you'll even find the great little Historic Electric Tram runs right alongside the park with stops to pick people up and take them for a short ride. This park is heavily used by locals and tourists alike. A great place to have lunch and spend a few hours

A great place for an outing or picnic, located right on the Kootenay lake it has an amazing beach playground and green areas. It boasts its own greenhouse where thee start the flowers that make the park so colorful in the summer months. The trees that cover the park are several generations old it's not uncommon to see kids climbing on them just like their father and grandfather did before them. There are covered bbq areas for public use and often play host to events put on by the lions, eagles, Shriners and other such organizations. During the summer there's a concession stand/ restraunt that along with all the items you would expect ice cream popcicles, pop juice chips etc they have an exceptionally health menue with both vegetarian and meatatarian options, fries, etc and a sitting area under umbrellas as well as picnic tables. The Nelson streetcar runs right along the edge of the park and you can sit at the concession stand and watch it load and unload passangers, the tram offers easy access to the mall and prestige inn if you don't wish to walk the waterfront path. It's within walking distance to Leo's restraunt and dairy Queen. Activities include a bocce ball area, tennis courts, labyrinth, playground beach volleyball soccer fields (plural) swimming, boat launch and dock. There's something for everyone in a surrounding that will take your breath away.

Well maintained park! On one side is a very nice little concession stand with good food. Be sure to check on line, the concession stand is seasonal. Perfect soccer fields. Beaches are clean. Dogs are not allowed on most of the park. The Dog Park is down by the airport (and is a nice area). Wonderful place to go for an afternoon stroll!

This park was amazing. There's lots of shade, easy beach access, a huge playground, a trolly and a lovely snack concession. We went with our toddler and it was the perfect place to stop and have some fun. Parking was free and plentiful when we arrived for a train ride. Upon arriving back at the park we had some food and enjoyed ourselves.

Beautiful, mature trees, gorgeous flower gardens in season, long, sandy beach, safe swimming and boat launch, great for kayak or canoeing, tennis courts (older but very usable) soccer fields, and lots of grassy areas for running about, playing frisbee and other games. There is a covered picnic area, well maintained washrooms and change rooms, as well as an eatery with outdoor tables open from late spring into September. It also has one of the best kids playground in the Kootenays! Well designed, safe for all ages, climbing and play structures that are usually quite busy with kids and lots of benches and picnic tables for the adults to watch and supervise. Some of this parks unique features are a walking laberynth, paved walking and cycling paths, outdoor gym and exercise equipment and large greenhouses filled with all of the flowers and plants being grown for Nelson's parks and public beautification along city streets. The paved areas make for easy access for persons using wheelchairs or strollers and Nelson's own Streetcar stops right outside the park gate during the summer months. The trees provide ample shade in summer, with gentle breezes off the lake on hot days. For quiet solitude or play and visit with family and friends, this park has something for everyone!

It is a beautiful park beside the Kootenay lake with a nice view. It has a few sculptures, public restrooms, a small kids' playground and an outdoor cardio/stretching workout area and plenty of space for families to spend leisurely time. Chahko-Mika mall is to the west side of the park and the orange bridge is to Its west side. And there is a walking path along the way from lakeside and the road side.

Beatiful Lakeside views with water access for sups kayaking sailing and swimming. Amazing shady trees to sit under and there is a kiosk for lunch. A walk goes from here along the lake front where there are exercise machines and playing fields. Also some art works to view. Very cool brick spiral Labrinth displayed here where a clap sounds different in the centre . Must visit this park if in Nelson.
