Nice quick hike with a good view of the city

Mahtab Narsimhan

Great easy hike with fabulous views from the top. Path is gravelly so make sure you have good treads on your shoes. Couple of benches on top make for a wonderful picnic with a view.

Serendipity

Great climb. Well laid out trail. Easy and more difficult route choices.

Catherine Lachance

This is a great hike ! Pretty steep but worth it !

Sean Ryan

Green early Summer.

Stephanie Lawton

Great little hike! We saw lots of different reviews on the difficulty of this hike. I would call it a moderate hike. But the steepness is not as extreme as I've read. We hiked with two 4 year olds and two 7 year olds. All did great. I've included some pics of the actual trail (as there is plenty of the view from the top)

Was a good time. Bears on trail by the bypass 20 mark. About 30 up. Bring a bear bell or speaker for music to make noise. Lots of water and goood shoes for sure. Have fun stay, stay safe. Took me a hr to get to the top.

An excellent Spring, Summer and Fall hike close to the mountain town of Nelson, BC. A short, steep but well maintained grind takes you to a rock outcrop overlooking Nelson. A bird's eye view without flying! For the more adventurous the trail continues higher to a "flag pole" lookout and even farther to the radio tower at the top of the mountain. A great hike to do on a clear day. Popular with local and visitors alike. Don't forget to bring a camera.

Nelson’s most popular hike. 45 minutes uphill to the viewpoint - totally worth the energy expended. Walking sticks helpful for the hike down for those with ‘older’ knees. For those with the energy, additional trails lead from the lookout to higher elevations.

Drew Johnson

Nice easy hike with a great view.

It is walking trail on the mountain of about 3 kms, takes about 45 minutes. It is a good experience to climb and view the opposite city on the other side of the lake.

Maeva Carocha

(Translated) Tiring but the view is worth it. (Original) Fatiguant mais la vue en vaut le coup.

Erik Jamik

Great trail for a quick payoff of views; well maintained and marked. Busy on nice days but plenty of parking at trailhead.

Kristine Ander

Really steep! There are a few walking poles on the site that you could use and return after your walk. Good view though.

Dante Faulk

Really cool! You get to see a beautiful view of the town! Hike is not to hard but it is very steep. There are even a couple of geocaches to find along the way! Overall, a solid 9/10 would definitely recommend! Nelson is a wonderful city!

Great hike to gain an amazing view of Nelson and surrounding area. Its a good workout with an even better reward, can keep going all the way up to the flag pole or even further to the cbc tower for even better vantages.

Great hike, is a little bit on the boarder side but definitely doable

Marc-André Belletete

Best free hike around. 4.8km to get to the top, elevation around 700m( garmin's watch stats). You always climbing up so it ia not that easy but you can go at your own space. Totally free so you want to do it. 4 stars cause nothing is perfect. Enjoy your ride

JAMie

Tough little hike! But the view makes it well worth it

Barbie Wheaton

Love this hike! The views of Nelson when you get to the top are breathtaking!! You can even go further up to the flag pole...totally worth the hike!

Louise Boutin

Great hike. Dogs loved it. I fell though as it can be slippery on the way down.

Bruce Ito

Similar to the Grouse Grind in Vancouver but a little shorter and easier. With kids up and down about 1h 30 min. Spectacular views of Nelson and West Arm. Must do when in Nelson!

Such a spectacular view. It’s about 45 minutes up walking at a decent pace.

Anurag Lakka

Wendy M

Great short grind

Tyson

Good challenging hike but not too overwhelming. They supply walking poles at the base of the trail for the tourists...we used them anyway. About a 45min hike up with multiple trails available based on difficulty level. The view at the top really is worth it. A must do when visiting Nelson!

Gorgeous viewpoint of Nelson. Similar to the Grouse Grind. Took about 36min to get to the top. Near the end of the hike, there are two path options: Easy or More Difficult. We went with the Easy trail. There were a couple of benches there and lots of different spots to chill and look at the scenery. Spent about 30min there before coming down, which took almost as long, but I have bad knees. Parking along the side of the road. Wasn’t crowded when we went on a Monday evening. Would factor about 1.5 hours for the whole hike and chill time up top. Would recommend going for beers after at Backroads or Torchlight.

Chad Hartin

A great “locals” hike when visiting Nelson

Eileen K

Hi! Went today! Don't know what that creepy animal head was? Did anyone else see that? What is it?
