A small but beautiful nature retreat nestled amidst the surrounding urban industrial area. The landscaping and abundance of spring blossoms give this park a Japanese garden feel, and the force of the water pouring over the falls displays nature in all her glory.

Beautiful waterfall that is right off the main road, but the park is a work in progress. The west side of the falls looks a bit like homeless people might have been bathing there but the east side is developing nicely.

Donavan Robertson

This is a bit of a hidden gem. I went with my teens on a rainy day so perhaps that’s why it was so quiet! Nevertheless it’s easy for tourists to walk to although too far for most kids under 10 unless they are accustomed to long city walks. There is easy parking to be had. The history of the Japanese Garden is engaging and I took time to read all the signs. There is information about Nelson’s sister city and a friendship bridge. The waterfalls would be very exciting for younger children. My teens enjoyed exploring the area in their own way. We snapped some fun photos as well. We spent about an 40 minutes there. A picnic and nice weather could turn the park into a 1-2 hour event that would be relaxing, easy to get too, inexpensive and educational. Hope you enjoy!

A lovely little Japanese garden and creek. The 'falls' are actually Cottonwood Creek falling from a culvert. Still, the effect is wonderfully rushing water crashing down on rocks.

Jason Christensen

What an amazing place to experience the power of water up close and personal. I love that our Saturday market is held in this park.

Kristy Suik

Lovely park tucked away off the regular roads. A beautiful 'friendship' garden to walk through as well. On the one side you can view the falls and get sprayed with mist, but on the garden side you can view and take in the waterfall without issue.

Very pretty, great location for a farmers market!

Leather Smith

Awesome Saturday Market, beautiful falls too.

J Moore

It was a real Park enjoyed by many before the BC Hiways cloverleaf went through it and the City of Nelson, in bed with the Eco Centre , destroyed what was left with Shinto cult objects and much hyped money mongering markets. Favourite of dopers and drinkers- very little cop presence. Tourists take one stroll and leave.

This park looks like it's still a work in progress, but the progress that has been made so far is really good. There were stone stair pathways and good planting around to beautify the area. The falls were an interesting find considering that your in the outskirts of town in the middle of where roads are crossing.

regeena cooper

loved it!!!!!!! it was so so peaceful. can't wait to come back in the spring, summer, and fall

I went on Saturday for the farmers' market. Only issue was finding parking on Saturday.

Kid Kootenay

Was really cool and had a farmer's market area but The City has been redoing it all and it's lost it's charm hopefully it gets it back after the regentrification as it is it's sparce and more resembles a construction site than a waterfall park

Scott McKenzie

Nice little park hidden away at the end of a side road. Lots of room for RVs. Falls come out from under highway and gardens are very pretty. Area around the park seems to be in transition - not sure what's happening, but a nice place to visit for a short time.

Mike Nelson

Barbie Wheaton

We are so lucky to have such a beautiful park with lovely waterfall so close to downtown. A wonderful place to enjoy a picnic, or get family pictures taken. Ours turned out beautiful there with the beautiful background being the Falls..weekly markets to enjoy in the summer!!

Louise Boutin

So beautiful!

Joseph

Worth a visit because it is small and cheerful

aron ashman

Small park...nice falls

Judy Mulloy

This place has so much history, from food use by the First Nations to a fish hatchery, now it is both a park and a garden of beautiful moments. The Japanese sister city's garden dreamy atmosphere is livened by the delightful charm of the summer market where one can purchase the bounty of the area and the astonishing work of local artists. The falls themselves tumble with a spray into a place that looks like it was designed by Maxfield Parrish.

Diron

A calming, beautiful place!

They have a nice farmer's market here. Be sure to bring cash, Canadian, as very few vendors accept credit.

Loved every bit of it.

Heather Coupland

It is a really great park to sit and have a picnick with the family. The stroll to the water fall is so worth it!! It would be a bit nicer if a bunch of dog owners kept their dogs on a leash but hey there's enough room at the park for all of us!!!!

MIKE DONALDSON

Cottonwood falls has always been one of my favourite parks in Nelson even after gentrification its still pretty good. It's also a good place to go to get an idea of the cost of addiction in Nelson, the makeshift tasteful memorial is important to remind those outside that world people are struggling. The falls is an amazing place year round it never disapoits and even the landscapeing and structures cannot diminish it.

Julie Bond

Dan Voykin

Peaceful natural place to enjoy a small mountain lake thats accessable and close to Nelson.

Jamie Maxwell

Great setting for this quirky little market.

Erin W

Beautiful park with relaxing garden areas. Pathway is accessible for all users. If you are agile you can get right down to the water near the falls (water was low during our mid August visit, don't recommend this during higher water in spring etc)

Such a beautiful little place in Nelson doesn't matter the time of year you go it's still magnificent. The bare trees in the winter with the sound of the waterfall make it almost eerie yet still enjoyable and in the summer when the trees are blooming it's simply amazing
