Wonderful place for a hike and lunch
Great for taking your dog for a short walk...but if you want to walk longer then you have to hike over a BIG HUGE rock. There are lots of park benches and water taps
Cool little place I found. Check it out.
Great place to explore along the beach and rocky headland
Great place to get those far away shots of the main land. From here you can see the main land coast line for hundreds of kilometres.Climb up one of the two high points for a great view of the Salish Sea.I I over heard two young boys looking for the pirates fort, proceed with caution.
Beautiful Views and ocean breeze.
Nice walk and views. Some easy trails if you want an easy relaxing walk or some rocky areas if you want to get adventurous.
Beautiful beach. There's enough for a family to spend the whole day.
Great place to go for a walk or a swim in the ocean nice trails nice views dogs allowed
Fantastic little park with lots to explore! You've got easy pathways to use, but also there's a lot of little trails that go off to neat little spots and involve a little bit of climbing sometimes. There's some great front row seats to watch the waves roll in as well!
Beautiful beach, trees, walk and great for a picnic.
Great afternoon adventures can be found...
One of my favourite parks.
Great place for a walk and to watch the sea. Saw seagulls, seals and sea lions. Part of the park is only reachable with a bit of easy climbing.
One of the most peaceful, beautiful spots on Vancouver island. Great beach for swimming, hike around. When I was a child Orcas even jumped out of the water and put on a show!
Love this place great for the dogs and kids. Hiking through the bluffs and beautiful arbutus trees is lovely any time of year rain or shine!
The forested peninsula that forms the Lagoon has a walking trail which follows the shoreline. Although it is less than 2 km in length the variety of terrain and the beautiful vistas it offers is well worth the short walk with grassy, cliffside areas perfectly suited for blanket picnics.
Super cool area to walk the beach, climb some rocks or just hang out in the tree house
Beautiful park! Walking trail, picnic tables, bathrooms, garbage cans, area to wash sandy feet, great views!
A favourite in town wilderness park. Tidal pools, grassy flat picnic area, and rock out-crops to climb. Enjoy on a sunny day the beautiful scenic Coastal mountain range!
I come here all the time and I love the scenery and the sounds of the ocean mixed with bird calls, I especially love it when it's really windy, the sunsets are amazing and the wildlife is abundant. I recommend stopping here if you're in the area!
A magical place to share a hot chocolate with your beau, and enjoy the oceanscape.
Windy most times, but a scenic hike and clean park for picnicking
Nice beach and hiking trail
One of the must go places in Nanaimo
A amazing secret spot, really peacful.
Great place for a quick walk or to just relax.
Lovely area to go for a swim or have socially distant hang outs.
A beautiful spot for a walk or for sitting by the water. You might even see a ferry or 2.
This park is excellent for walking and jogging. It is also good idea for family picnic.
Simply georgous and a great way to spend a couple of hours outdoors.
I love climbing the rocks here and when they ride is low you can get to shack island.
Love this little, uncrowded beach. It even has an outdoor shower and as we were driving out some hot guy with perfect abs was rinsing off. Perfect ending to a perfect time, ha ha ha
A great view and place to unwind.
One of the most beautiful places in Nanaimo. Easy to walk, beach has sandy places. Lots of puppies on the walk. :)
Amazing view of sunrise if yiu go early enough
Worth my time.... Beautiful views and surprisingly warm water. People swimming with kids. Rocky beach.. Shoes are a must!
Very pretty, nice little hike, and great views from the top of the hill
Fun and super safe. Lots of parking. Tide comes in quick. Great beach area
A piece of heaven , my sons love running all over the playing in forts in the trees .Great for couples , families/pets
Great views expensive real estate you feel the sensation of being one of the unwashed masses as the brisk sea breeze batters you about the nape and head as the currents of a plasticized dying sea languidly flows along the shore highly recommend!
Nice public beach. Has a few spots that are hidden , good for a picnic
Beautiful Park to go and walk around at!!
Love this place in summer, so does the dog!
I love this park. It is well laid out and fairly expansive. There are tons of Arbutus trees and a nice section of beach to explore. The trail network is expansive and takes you all over the park.
Amazing views!
Great little walk if you have some time to spare out in Nanaimo. Sidenote: The trail can be a bit slippery when wet so watch your footing.
Great beach Bathrooms and a place to spray off Large area Some sand areas and some tidepools
Pretty beach area with some nice sand and a lovely short circular walk.
Great place to walk and see marine life
Such a beautiful beach!!
Lovely walk by the water Perfect for walking your dogs
Nice and calm place, good place to spend some time for relaxation
I love Piper's ❤️ Lovely trails to explore and a nice gravel beach to find seaglass. The pieces are quite small but there are lots of them there!
Beautiful quite nice spot to relax
Really nice place to take your dog for a walk
Free parking ,nice beach and good for walking around
Beautiful place to sit and watch the tide roll out.
One of the best parks in Nanaimo. Incredible views and beaches.
Showcases the westcoast. Hilly in areas, not for the disabled.
Great little adventure minutes away from downtown Nanaimo.
I visit here every trip to the island.
A lovely spot for a rugged, easy trail walk. A little climbing rocks might be in order for added fun. The trail is often narrow and uneven.
I liked the cool ocean breeze on my face. I wish there was more parking.
Great place fir a stroll anytime.
Great place to enjoy the water. Lots of hermit crabs. Trails to hike the isthmus
Simply stunning views with awesome parking!
There is a nice sandy/rocky beach at it's East face as you walk into the park. At low tide there is a large area to the West that is great for kids to explore. Lots of crawly creatures and tide pools to discover. The hiking trails are rocky, be sure to watch your footing and wear appropriate footwear. The waters can feel rather warm on a sunny day and make for a great family spot. I'd recommend checking it out if you're visiting Nanaimo.
Perfect place to sit and watch the waves in the winter. Great for swimming in the summer
went swimming here2019
Fun little trails! Lots of people swimming aswell!
Beautiful walk along the pathways here.
Stunning views, beautiful trails and wildlife. Great place to take photographs
Lucky to live close to this special place. Be ready to climb on rocks a bit. Or over a few logs on the long beach
Very peaceful
Very nice beach for sunrise and sunsets
Nice beach park for swimming and walks.
Great park to watch sunset!
Excellent hiking and blustery weather.
Both an excellent marine and foreshore interaction area and a reminder of how poorly we have treated some of our neighbors...
Nice little walk out on the coast of the ocean.
Even in an early spring drizzle it was lovely.
If you're looking to explore one of Nanaimo's lesser known parks, Pipers Lagoon is the place to go. Walking the spit that encloses the lagoon gives you access to the 20 minute walking trails around the headland, if you're brave enough to clamber over the small rock bluff during high tide. Arrive during low tide however, and you can dance over the shells on the beach and to access the trails. Often you'll see wind surfers on a blustery day using the protected lagoon as a practice area and it makes for some excellent photography opportunities.
Lots of room even when the Car park is crowded
A great place to walk along the waterfront and enjoy all of creation
Excellent scenery. Just very windy
Always a nice walk when its beautiful out
Such a gorgeous park!
Very nice rocky trail with amazing rocky cliff views
Always a nice walk. Plenty of different terrain. Forest, beaches, cliffs. Nice place for a quick (1hr or so) hike or spend all day. There are picnic tables and washrooms. Good parking. And a fresh water shower to rinse off after swimming in the ocean (not private shower)
Severely overcrowded, no chance to social distance. There were almost a dozen out of province license plates, go home people. Had an ok time once my family was finally able to get away from others for a few minutes.
It's the best. Don't go here, I like the privacy.
Best picnic spot!
Beautiful and very nice to see the ocean birds
If you are in Nanaimo for a day or two, stop here. The sunrise is just beautiful. Good washrooms. Shower to rinse off if you go for a swim.
Gorgeous place, amazing scenery
Beautiful scenery.. calming area.. abit windy tho
Nice park, but difficult to walk through, and the views at nearby neck point are better
Beautiful. Spacious. Great for meditation and yoga. Wheelchair and strollers are tough to walk on the stones but if a jogger maybe it’s fine. I didn’t see a playground so kids need their imagination and legs to run there which I totally recommend.
Go to the high beach on the hill , stop and wait for the sea lion swim pass by …
One of the best ocean front walks in Nanaimo.
Great walking park. Well kept trails . Its a lovely walk along the ocean .
Great spot to walk along the spit or beach and if you're able, scramble up and over the rocks to get to the other half of the park that has a easy trail that circles the point with excellent views all around. When the herring run there might be the occasional sighting of orcas and definitely sea lions. A popular spot so don't expect a private, secluded walk. An excellent swimming beach and a grassy area to picnic. And every time I've used them, very clean flush toilets.
Peaceful
Beautiful beach good walk when tide is out but don't get caught out there. When it starts coming in the tide comes in quickly.
Social distance respected beach. Gorgeous blue sea and sky too.
One of my favourite places to take my dog for a walk.
Beautiful ocean spit. Accessible semi wild beach
Stunning local park. Amazing sunrise/sunset views. Rugged areas , part of trail is easy walking.
Pipers Lagoon Park is by far my favourite outdoor park destination in the Nanaimo region. It is the most beautiful outdoor spot where I love to do nature and landscape photography, with the best layout and features of any waterfront park I've seen yet. There is a lovely causeway that takes you out to the main body of the park. The beach along this causeway has many attractive spots that are perfect for practising landscape and nature portraiture. There is plenty of parking. Many people walk their dogs along the causeway. It is minutes away from the equally lovely Neck Point Park.
Lovely place for a walk. Its a good place to relax and just enjoy nature and water. The pathways are well maintained and a lot of benches to sit and just take all in. The parking is very spacious and easy. Getting there can be a little hard due to the narrow streets. But all in all a good place to take a walk.
Great place to hike the shoreline rocks and trails. Lots of parking including public washrooms. Pack your lunch and drinks. Sit and observe the boats fishing plus the ferries and Comercial vessels. See seals even Orca whales. Plus get the value of exercise climbing the rocks and cliffs of Pipers Lagoon Park. Large open grass field to fly your kite or drone.
Absolutely stunning views of the ocean. The park has a rocky beach which is picturesque in its own way. A good place to read a book or spend some time in your own thoughts.
This place is drop dead gorgeous! When I say you don't need a filter or photo editor on your photos, I really mean it. We went on a windy and slightly sunny day with some overcast and the ocean was roaring, the beach was amazing and the lagoon had low tide and we got to see all the lil critters! ????????
A beautiful place to go for a walk and look at nature
The area around here was nice. There want a lot of people around as we visited during lunch time so it was quiet. This place has a lot of locations that you could take photos of just scenery or of yourself. However navigating the trail is a little confusing as we had to scale a rock in order to continue.
Always a great spot to people watch and relax at the end of a busy day.
Awesome view of the ocean. Nice dog walking park area. Small rock climbing to a nice view point.
Fabulous mini hike along a Gary Oak lined oceanfront trail. Not hard but tricky footing over rocks and roots.
My favourite seaside park in Nanaimo. From hot sunny days relaxing on the beach and building driftwood forts to exploring the rocky island like outcroppings. …
Gorgeous park with a lagoon on one side and the ocean with mountain views on the other. No dogs allowed on the beach in the summer months, unfortunately. Ample parking and not crowded at all. The lagoon is calm and nice for a dip. Perfect for photographers!
One of the best parks in the city
Nice neighborhood beach. Lots of garbage on the beach the day I was there, so I started picking it up. Shack Island is still there.
Nice little park on the water.
Nice small beach with sandy area on one side and rocky easy walk around to the other side. I love how shallow and warm the water was at low tide. Nice shade trees and big logs to sit on. Water is so clear almost like in Hawaii. Gentle waves.
Absolutely beautiful , but I wish their were more off-leash options in Nanaimo for dogs. The walkway is on-leash only and the beachfront is off-limits 1/2 the year
Best park in the city of Nanaimo.
Great walking/ climbing and when tide low you can see Star fish/ crabs/ clams in the sand/ shells / oysters. Clime Oak trees/ cliff views.
Calmer waters, brave the cold water for a dip, swim in the salmon filled area.
wonderful park near the ocean Take the bus number 20 from Downtown, walking is a bit tricky as there are not any sidewalks as you get closer
Beautiful walk with varied terrain
Great place for a sea walk.
Beautiful and peaceful, had clean washrooms and Miles of beach ..quite too
Tide was out leaving a Muddy area might be nicer when tide is in still a nice place to enjoy a day
Great place for a picnic with the family! Has washrooms available during certain hours
Beautiful destination, great for a nice medium walk :)
What's not to like about beaches, trees, trails, and the ocean? This is a great place to recharge right within city limits.
This was 2nd best Park I ever been to, Just wow
Beautiful place and a really pleasant hike.
Hugely popular park but and a great place to bring children as there are rock outcroppings for a scramble, the beach, the lagoon and ferry activity to engage. For a picnic there are plenty of benches and nooks and crannies.
A great spot to see some little critters and anemones if you don't walk to fast !
So peaceful! The smell of the ocean is extraordinary! Beautiful kept trails as well
Beautiful beach for a walk on a warm summer day
Love it here! Bring your swim shoes! Tons of sharp pebbles here. Also bring an umbrella, no trees for shade.
Always a go-to on a hot summer's day or cold winter night. Some of the best Nanaimo offers!
Beautiful hike around a coastline. Wear proper shoes as your climbing sharp rock.
Awesome place to visit, see the ships and the beauty of the mountains.
Beautiful spot.. I will go there again
Beautiful
Favorite walking location! Anytime of day, but especially early morning when it is quiet.
Beautiful good place to walk the dog
Beautiful clean park. Warm enough to swim in the summer, wonderful walking along year long.
Love this special seaside place to hang out.
Love this spot
Gorgeous location. Beautiful spot to spend reading on a sunny summer afternoon.
Not always the most clean but one of the best easy to get to views in Nanaimo, small woods and rocket cliff over the ocean make for romantic or peaceful walks with friends. A must visit for Nanaimo for those who live here or are visiting
If you love the outdoors you will love this lagoon
Beautiful. High tide. Clean water. Low traffic and no crowds. Sand and rocky beaches. Great family spot.
Beautiful views. On a low enough tide one can wander out to shack island. Lots of wildlife from nesting geese to sealions if you get lucky and time it right. A must see in may.
Beautiful little beach with easy parking, and picnic tables.
Beautiful location, great spot for professional photos, scuba diving, widelife, beach front, good place for kite boarding with strong winds:)
Beautiful
Amazing views and cliffsides!
Fav place in Nanaimo
Very nice walk
Great little hike/walk in Nanaimo. Nice views and easily accessable. Some climbing up rocks for even better views too. #lovewhereyoulive
Place is nice for walking and beach exploration or sitting in the sun . There is public bathrooms and public shower for cleaning off after the water . Only problem is not enough parking at all.
Beautiful place with little hikes and trail walking.
Excellent views, but neck point park is better if you have time to visit just one
Pipers Lagoon is a magical spot right on the ocean nestled amongst forest trees, you will hear birds chirping and see beautiful flowers in bloom, their smell is refreshing! The view out into the Georgia Straight is breathtaking, you can climb the easy hills to the top and watch sailboats drift by on a gentle wind. A few great spots for picnics here!
very quiet
Great place to walk and enjoy the ocean
So beautiful, lovely for all age groups, walking, hiking, looking for sea life. Absolutely gorgeous ????
Limited parking space, but a great view of the ocean and shack island
Beautiful place of you want drive up beach front. They have picnic tables, doggy bags, and a trail that leads to many little beaches. No washrooms.
Beautiful place! Highly recommended
Epic views and so clean
Great beach, with lots of rocky crags to climb around on. Wear good shoes though, as to get to the island with the forest and the circular trail, you will need to climb over a rocky outcrop. Shack Island can also be reached from here at very low tide.
Beautiful slice of nature! Great place to unwind!
Relaxing walk, good scenery
Really beautiful place for walks, pictures and just enjoying nature in general. There are benches to sit at and a fair amount of parking.
Nice park
Relaxing and serene enjoyed it alot
Great place for a walk
Stunning beach and great walking trail
Easy and short walk. Beautiful view but the water is not quite suitable for swim.
Not a very long walk, unless you scramble over a mountain of rock and extend your walk alongside the lagoon. A trail climbs to a superb viewpoint at the end of the short walk. Up here there are a couple of benches and Gary Oak trees.
It's amazing you have to check it our for yourself
Beautiful walk, you do have to climb some rocks unless the tide is way out. It's been windy everytime I've walked it but that's being next to the ocean : )
Beautiful place for a walk. Gorgeous views.
Wow great spot for a short walk.
Great scenery
Short nature walk peninsula with ocean views on both sides.
Pretty vistas. Easy trails. A gem in Nananimo.
Make sure you wear shoes when you do this. I used flip flops and it was annoying.
Beautiful sunrise and we saw the goodness of both low tide and high tide! A lovely time to go for a walk and explore at your leisure. Beautiful views
The Gem of Nanaimo!
Beautiful scenery and a nice walk
Great place to walk your dog, beautiful scenery
Lovely walk and nice beach
One of my favorite places, i grew up comming here over the years. Since moving away from Nanaimo when i come to visit i always come here for a walk. The best sunrises in Nanaimo!!
A beautiful spot to visit at anytime, but it is particularly good when the tide is rising so you can watch the Lagoon fill in. The trails system is not extensive , you could walk around quite quickly if you wanted but it is nicer to move slowly and watch the birds and sea life. Very nice views of the Salish Sea and the mainland.
Great location. Especially at sunset. Maintained well.
Beautiful place to sit, walk or just watch the beautiful Ocean. Lots of nooks & crannies to explore. Even more when the tide is out.
Nice beach to swim and relax. Well maintained benches and trails.
A beautiful, popular spot to come & relax & enjoy the ocean & sunshine.
Gorgeous park with ocean and mountains view. Low traffic ad less crowds.
Very nice. Short walk
An easy hike with great views across the Salish Sea (Georgia Strait) to the coastal mountains. A Nanaimo favourite!
Great secluded spot for some peace and quiet. Make sure you wear shoes or boots if you want to climb up the lagoon as those rocks are sharp.
Great place. Just wish they had a walk way for when the tide is in so people could get to the end without climbing the rocks. Not easy for Ankit if folks.
Arguably the best views and marine experience in a public park in North Nanaimo area.
Great place to get away in Nanaimo. Several well placed benches with private views. Places to just relax and read a good book.
Love searching for sea glass ????
Nice on a sunny day too bad it's not a Sandy Beach
Nature all over BC is just wonderful
Such a good place to walk and enjoy nature. There are plenty of spots for parking. We left the car and walked this beautiful place. This and Neck Road Park are so peaceful and beautiful. You can walk in lagoon but there is also a path where …
I got married on this beach in 2008. It's got a special place in my heart but it's a beautiful spot all on it's own!
Beautiful spot. Cold still without a jacket.
This park is peaceful and beautiful
Great little stop. Nice swimming beach, great views.
Great views, easy quick hike. Good parking and public restroom.
The sunrise says it all. Beautiful
Love this park any time of the year.
Awesome park, check it out!!
Nice place for spend a day during the summer. And the ocean wasn't that cold it was really cool !
Nice place to walk around and enjoy
You can drive right up to the beach and enjoy the very unique lagoon view, and the ferries from afar, and the stars! And beautiful homes on the hill right behind. A really sweet spot
Great little park with a great view of the lagoon and ocean.
Beautiful rocky beach and a little forest.
Awesome spot. Lots of rocks to climb, beach to discover and wooded area to explore.
This is and Neck Point Park are great seaside parks. Pipers has a beautiful beach thats good for swimming, she'll and rock collecting. Also a good place to look for hidden painted rocks. Dogs are not permitted on the beach but are permitted on the foot path on leash. Long narrow path takes you to the point with rocks to scramble up and there is a mini secluded beach between two bluffs. Often very windy but makes it a great place to fly a kite. A couple of picnic tables and grassed section right next to parking lot and washrooms.
A wonderful marine park. Logs on sandy beach to sit on and enjoy the view.
Very good place to relax
This park is beautiful! You can see so many things from the beach, like Gabriola Island and the mountains of Vancouver and the mainland in the distance. You can also see BC Ferries vessels passing by, on their way between Duke Point and Tsawwassen, and Departure Bay and Horseshoe Bay. In addition, you can go and explore a small island separated from the main land. It really is a serene, spectacular area. I highly recommend checking it out!
Best place to wait for your late ferry!
Love this local beach. Nice walks and beautiful scenery.
Very nice little place, gorgeous views, nice walk
Certainly one of the martial highlights of Nanaimo.
Nice little place for a walk, very windy in the fall so dress warm!
Piper's Lagoon is quieter than Neck Point and less wheelchair accessible. The trails get more rugged but they aren't any longer than those of Neck Point. This area is fun on a sunny or stormy day.
Wonderful family park, full of spectacular views and wild life.
Great place in the summer time, not so much in the winter
Beautiful views.
Great trails and area to explore. Quite intriguing.. enjoyed beautiful evening views.
Beautiful beach area to spend the day!
Beautiful. It’s nice walking here.
Beautiful
A beautiful place for a family picnic
Local beach, great trail for a short walk, gorgeous beach and veiw
Always really nice to look at the mainland and be grateful I'm on the Island!
Great views, nice trail, clean.
Beautiful view: rocky hill, oak, ocean, beach, history and geocaching...
One of the best places in Nanaimo for swimming, kayaking or hiking.
Great spot to just chill and unwind. Amazing view
Beautiful views and when tide is out, you can sit on the rocks
Great place to explore and enjoy our coast!
Checked out Piper Lagoon for the first time today. Although it was windy and slightly rainy, the park was a great place to explore! It had a good amount of parking, beautiful views. Would love to check it out again in the summer.
Would Love to live by the water here
I love this place great for swimming!????
Piper's Lagoon is a short walk along the beach for a day when you crave the salty air but need to give your legs a break. It gets busy on the weekends but is a fantastic place early morning to catch the sunrise ????
Ample parking with easy walking to enjoy absolutely fabulous photos of nature in her glory with ocean breezes and benches along the walkway
Always nice.
Luv this walk good area to go.
Not too crowded. A short path with great views. Lots of different nooks and crannies for people to hang out in.
It's a beautiful place to walk, and enjoy the ocean!
The smoke from the wildfire in the states wafted over to the shores of Nanaimo, masking the plumes of my blueberry kush for hours on end. Only me and the birds getting high on this peaceful plateau of inebriation. Bliss.
Beautiful park, amazing views, and perfect place to walk and explore. Bathrooms available as well :)
Loved this beach! Nice walk and hike! Lots of rocks to climb over--if you want! Very beautiful and peaceful.
Very complex ecosystem happening around this park.
My absolute favorite piece of serenity is found here . Love Pipers
A charming quiet beach area, bring climbing shoes, a lovely beach with a small climb over rocks to look out into gorgeous oceans.
Great place lots of room, good for swimming or exploring, lots of parking space and washrooms.
Good trail, lots of views. Not wheel chair accessible unfortunately.
Nice walk.
One of the best local beaches in Nanaimo for a long walk along the shore.
What a fantastic place! Absolutely breathtaking views. The park itself is rather small. If you like long walks and safe trails, you might be disappointed. If you feel like walking the shore or even climbing some rocks - this place is for you. Unique photo opportunities. There is a public washroom and a parking lot. Depending on the time of the day, the parking might be full.
Beautiful place to go and watch the sunset and sunrise
One of the coolest places in the area. Imagine a line where two beach shores meet and form a trail to walk across with beaches on both sides! That's what this is! Beautiful views all the way off into the horizon or into the city. Take your pic! Once walking down a ways, maybe 8 minutes at a casual pace, you'll see rocks which you can traverse over and up to see even more options with more beaches in every direction! It's so surreal. It's a very special place Nanaimo is blessed to have it. One of the coolest places I've been too and a reason I fell in love with Nanaimo.
I love visiting Piper's whenever I come over to the Island. A nice stroll to the rocks or just park up and walk to the beach. Nice and peaceful.
Gorgeous views, easy access to ocean. Beautiful little hike. Kids love it.
Here is peaceful place. But there is not water in the lagoon. We went to there in May.
The best beach spot
Beautiful spot!
Very nice park to walk around. During low tide you can walk the entire circumference.
One of the most beautiful places in Nanaimo! great for swimming, exploring, hiking and finding hidden treasures.
Great place with lots of little hidden areas which are great to explore!
Beautiful views from the beach.
Very very nice
When friends of mine come in from out of country or out of town, I always bring them to 2 places guaranteed. 1 of them is always Pipers Lagoon and the other is Neck Point. I love them both equally. Perhaps Pipers is the shorter walk of the two but there is one section that you have to do a tiny climb. It's nothing difficult unless you have a disability of sorts. But even before that small climb starts, there is a nice smooth path with breathtaking views of the ocean and islands. We saw Orcas there last time. If you're visiting Nanaimo, it's conveniently close and very picturesque. A must really.
Excellent place to take your family your wife to have a good little picnic right along the ocean nice and clean washrooms very nice and clean very nice environment.. I recommended for families and loved ones even your first date
It's so calm and beautiful
Kinda smelly but gorgeous views
Most beautiful day I ever had thank you God
I absolutely love a walk around, Piper's Lagoon, a wonderful place for an afternoon or evening stroll. Go enjoy some beauty!????
Awesome place for a quick stroll or hang on the beach! Very nice views, bring a camera!
Always stunning. My favorite place to kick back and relax in the city. Amazing views of the Georgia Straight! On clear days you can sometimes even see Vancouver in the distance!
Beautiful beach and rock bluffs. Amazing Arbutus trees and stunning view. Dog friendly and great for kids too!
Beautiful park and the views are amazing.
Great place for a picnic and sea side stroll. Lots of parking available.
Beautiful lagoon a short ways away fr wood grove
So much beauty in nature to explore
Words can't describe this park. Go visit it yourself.
Pipers is a beautiful spot for a walk on the beach, have a family picnic, or watch the sunset. There is also a nice grassy area for bocce or croquet. Washrooms are available. Parking is a bit limited at busy times.
Beautiful location, had a wonderful photoshoot here. Lots to explore ????
Very peaceful and relaxing.
An amazing park and beach in Nanaimo. We love visiting any season, even in winter. Incredible views, can watch the ferries and other boats go by.
I love this place, there's little trails all over the park, and if you catch the park at low tide, there's tons of beach areas to explore!
Its a beautiful place! Love it every time.
Gets negatively compared to nearby Neck point park too often. Nanaimoites are spoiled for oceanfront parks within the city????
Beautiful
Beautiful place to adventure. Not all of the park is accessible if you have mobility issues but still plenty to see.
Great walk along the water
Amazing spot, great view, great for a nice walk.
Great little beach to find beach glass! Not spectacular pieces, but enough to keep me entertained. Lots of parking and plenty of places on the beach!
Great place to spend the morning exploring with young kids.
Nice place to stop by if you're in Nanaimo, ten minute drive from the shopping plaza, you drive through residential. There are speed bumps on the way there, but there is a nice walk through the trail onto big rocks, and other parts to a beach. Tell you're friends.
Lovely trail along a rocky beach. You can find starfish, crabs, sand dollars and anenomies in the rocks. It is an easy trail with a beautiful view. Dog and kid friendly.
Nice and open view of the water!! Good for a walk or to just relax. This time of the year was a bit cold but summer would be better.
Beautiful
Beautiful!!!! We had some time to kill before going to an appointment and walked around there during dusk. A little cold but that's to be expected in October
Nice little walk along the shoreline and walkway for dogs.
Great trails and view points.
A beautiful place for a walk along a beach.
This place is magical. I.loved it as a kid and I still love it many years later.
Clean beach, quiet, and good views.
Great walk with interesting views, shack island was very cool! Washroom facility.
Really enjoyed the trails.
Interesting spot for a quick walk. Wear sensible shoes if you want to walk in the woods.
Love heading down to Pipers whenever I'm in Nanaimo. Great place to a beach walk and to meditate.
Pipers Lagoon is a perfect place to fall in love with Nanaimo. Period.
Nice place to walk and take photos.
Beautiful lagoon. Lots of trees and different views of the water.
I've been going a few times a year since I was a kid, and when I have kids they'll be going a few times a year. It's a special place where you can really feel the salt air, probably my favourite Nanaimo city park. Note, it can be a bit of a work out. Note 2, it's a great place for a date.
Great ocean views & walks around lagoon.
So beautiful. Love this place
Nice place for a birthday party!
One of the most beautiful places on Vancouver Island
Very nice lagoon park in Nanaimo waterline. Access through Hammond bay road -Lagoon road - Place road. There is enough free parking. Very relaxing area if you have easy 2 hours. Nice beach with logs and benches to sit. Can view nice partial sunset during evening hours. There are two lands worth walking on both. Please be cautious while climbing on rocky surface to the second hill. Use extreme caution walking along cliffs as one can easy fall to into sea. Don't try to cross to Weatcroft park during low tides unless it is coompletely dry as the strength of current is hard to judge. Please avoid feeding wild birds and animals.
This is a great place for walking, but you have to climb over a roughly 6M high rock hill so wear appropriate shoes. Once you get over, it is so worth it! Even if you don't clamber over the hill, just the walk to it and back is wonderful. Dogs must be on leash and are not allowed on the beach from May to September
Gorgeous (short) walk. Great ocean swimming, but gets deep pretty quick. WINDY
Heat place to take in the scenery of the gulf and the mainland on a clear day..
Full of wildlife and offers a look at how diverse west coast oceans and waterfronts can be.
This is in an attractive area. It's a nice spot for a walk.
Beautiful park with multiple trail options leading through a tall forest on the edge of the ocean. Many great lookout spots, and an all around fun and serene place to visit!
Always a pleasure to walk there
Has public washrooms, outdoor shower to wash the sand off, beautiful stretch of beach with amazing collection of driftwood, places to explore and hike with a gorgeous view of the Strait.
Ankle breakinng trails, rocky beach, compared to nearby Neck Point, this one's a waste of time.
Beautiful spot. Great for sunrise or sunset. Popular place for swimming for both people and dog's
Nice walking trail facing Vancouver all waterfront pebbke beach. Sunrise spot of Nanaimo for sure!
Easy walks and lovely views
Great area to watch the sunrise
Pipers is an amazing place for a stroll along the scenic shoreline.
Great place to go for a good hike
Slippery on the rocks today.
Beautiful view. Well maintained.
Very accessible, walkable and perfect for the whole family, with nice washroom. A lot of starfish and oyster too.
Never been here? Thinking of going? Just do it. Now. It is incredible here! The views are truly stunning. Parking, washrooms, dog friendly, beaches, hiking. The best past is that it is so close, so you really don't have to go far to experience nature at its best.
Great place to go for a walk
Great spot to see the geographic lagoon and to enjoy water activities.
Nice picnic area on the ocean
Very beautiful views, lots of friendly people.
A nice little trail. Even for a long weekend the beach was not too busy and parking was easy. Rocky beach, water pretty warm for the pacific.
Great views , nice beach lovely place for a walk or a sit
A great place to learn and experience the intertidal zone.
Love Pipers Lagoon so peaceful especially when the tide is out.
Tide was coming in and the water was flowing swift, Canadian Geese using the water ways like moving sidewalks. Picturesque.
Pleasant, mild to moderate trail.
Beautiful, easy walk. We were there at low tide so walked around to the furthest bluff, up the hill and to the point overlooking some amazing vistas.
Great place to walk and sea ocean activities.
Our favourite beach summer and winter. Clean and wild - a lot of wildlife.
Great beach for kids to swim in lots of room to be private.
Beautiful but needs more parking spots hence the 3 stars so get there early.
Sun came out at the perfect time. It was so beautiful, wow. Saw a pack of sea lions chilling and hunting like 25 yards out. Also saw some really cool ducks and a giant (hawk?).
Very relaxing and enjoyable recreational area
Great spot for a walk along the beach
Beautiful place. You can see some sea lions even during afternoon.
Limited trail, parking lot and washroom, should be good spot for bird and wildlife...
Beautiful spot for a walk and a swim. You could also potentially do some good snorkeling around here as there seems to be lots of little critters in the water just off the rocks. Also it is rocky do bring water shoes.
Good parking, easy access to the beach, good trails for kids.
Beautiful place to spend the day
Pipers Lagoon Park is a beautiful area with a great walk and swim
Such an amazing park! Had a wonderful time volunteering to pull some invasive plants :) Contact the city of you would like to help!
Wonderful,
So beautiful and peaceful.
Always such a great place to viset
Great little park for a walk, has a lovely loop that allows walking around without having to backtrack on the trail.
Very chill and beautiful can see the ferries
Beautiful family friendly spot to soak up the sun on a hot day. Very clean and the water is nice to swim in. Highly recommend visiting Piper's Lagoon.
Beautiful park, lots of trail space and picnic benches for eating.
Rocky Beach, but much quieter than other lake side beaches. Bring umbrellas, you will need shade. No washroom amenities.
nice. if you go at low tide you don't have to climb the rock. there's eagles nesting, lilies and such.
Good food, sat outside in the sun and appreciated the friendly, COVID safe service.
One of our favorite stops when we get to the island.
A favourite seashore park Nanaimoites spend time walking at to contemplate the ocean views, walk their dogs, do yoga, launch kayaks, or picnic! There is an adjacent island that is accessible at low tide, (or high tide if you can climb over a high rock face), with various paths that wind thru ancient Arbutus trees and unspoilt forest with views of the Salish Sea. The bylaws allows dogs on the rock beach in off season (Oct - May) which is perfect for throwing a stick for water loving dogs. Parking is on site.
Love going dor a walk or kite with my daughter here, she quite enjoys it too!
Amazing view and great spot to relax in the sun.
I love Pipers Lagoon Park ???? Beautiful beach, little hike in the forest with a great view and if you are lucky enough, you can see some wild animals like the sealions very close! One of my favorite places in Nanaimo
The scenery is just beautiful
Pipers Lagoon Park is a great place to relax for all ages! The lagoon is protected from the strong waves, allowing children to swim and play to their heart's content. It's also large enough that you could kayak or paddle board in it. In the other side of the lagoon is a beach laden with pebbles and sand, great for beach party, picnic, bbq, and easy access for a quick dip in the water. The water line is maybe 10-20 meters from the trail which is between the lagoon and the beach. It's also a long Beach so feel free to spread out! There's plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Look out into horizon and watch the ferries, the cruise liners, the float planes, and the mountain peaks all in the distance. Go for a walk if you want to as well! When you're done, feel free to rinse your legs off with the public rinsing faucets then hop into your car! Medium sized parking lot that can accommodate most general crowds (likely too small to accommodate the summer holiday crowds).
Awesome place to take a walk by yourself or with someone else. Pet friendly and so beautiful.
Said It was dog friendly when it's not
Lots of views, good for a short walk. It can get quite busy.
Beautiful and clean thanks for having bathrooms
Fabulous ocean views, lots of rocks, with tidal pools (to scramble over), birds, wildflowers, many trails, and beaches
Great for swimming, nice beach, good sand ( water shoes are handy as it's a bit rocky going in the water at first) shower for rinsing and nice bathroom.
Great views
It's a romantic place for couples.
Beautiful place for a hike
Ocean and island views, nice.
Beautiful park in the ocean. Perfect for a sunset walk.
Nice leisurely walk with some light rock climbing but worth every minute of it.
We saw eagles, sea lions and seals on our outing
Great place for a walk with the dog
Great place to go with the family.
Gorgeous little oceanside park
Great views and varied terrain in a compact park.
Quite and gorgeous place. Worth to visit if you're in Nainaimo.
This is a great place to go walking around. Easy routes but you will have to climb some Boulder's. Has fantastic views, stayed longer then I expected, lots of little trails taking you on different routes. Give it a try
Sandy beach at all but the highest tide. Can watch ships working in and around Nanaimo from here.
It's a beautiful walk
Great place for a walk
A beautiful walk with tons of adventures around every corner
Nice place , very relaxing, close to town and amazing views
Its the same name as my child , what's not to love. Peaceful & stunning ocean views
Nice and clean. Shorter walk
Always a good time when out for adventures here!
This is a cute park! The abandoned cabins were cool too! I think you might be able to get to them at low tide.
Very beautiful spot to go walking
Scenic and lovely walkways
Great little visit. Short hikes, but great views.
Nanaimo gem. Easy to get to. Easy little hike. Great place for dogs. Lots of wild animals to be seen. Great picnic spot. Awesome place to lounge.
This place is Deceptively Large, especially at super low tide when the whole bay empties out into an oyster marsh!
So Beautiful. One of the best Places to watch the sunset.
A lovely Oceanside park.
Very nice little walk.
Beautiful park! Also quiet a few Pokemon go stops and gyms!
Nature walks are wonderful
One of my fave places to walk
Really beautiful trail with a variety of views. The lagoon itself is not always full, but all you have to do is look to the right to see endless ocean. This trail does require some climbing over rocky mounds, but is still a fairly easy trail. For those with young kids, the lagoon when empty can be fun to explore, just make sure to bring rubber boots! On the other side is a small black (depending on tide levels) that is a lovely walk as well. On the far end of the trail the view looks out to another stretch of land that look to have fisherman homes. Be sure to bring umbrellas because weather can change in an instant!
One of the best parks in Nanaimo.
Be prepared for climbing. Beautiful views, saw a few pods of seals last visit.
Chance got to experience his first time at the beach!
Nice trails but dogs are not allowed on the beach.
Beautiful easy walkabout
Most beautiful spot in Nanaimo. Right at water level. Climb up onto the higher ground for a great view.
Another little gem in Nanaimo. Great for a walk or run. If you want to explore the total trail then a little bit of rock scramble
Wonderful trails suitable for an easy walk or with kids. The lagoon and beach are both beautiful and dogs are allowed on leash
Great hike around the island, go over the rocks to see the other side.
Love the rock climbing..
This is the perfect spot to go have a relaxing or adventurous day with the family and friends. Also, a lot of good private spots if you want to take that special someone and....well be alone????
This spot is a gem; geologically, biologically, cultural gem.
Nice Park!
The scenery is great, love the Gary Oaks had a wonderful time with my daughter. Wish there was a easier way to explore more, when the tide is not very low.
Short hike but lots of elevations. Views across the Salish sea are amazing.
Great views!
Cool place lots of people. Really nice for pictures. Kinda short for walking but great if you just wanna go for 30 min
Such a nice place to walk, need to do a little easy rock climb to continue on the trail. Lots of benches and logs to rest and take in the view.
The only complaint would be that there isn't enough parking!
Beautiful place
Sea glass...lots
One of Nanaimos most beautiful spots ! Sunsets here never disappoint!
Nice walking trails with a fabulous ocean view. Definitely worth a visit
A really great park for beaches, hiking, kites, swimming. Smaller sized parking lot, it can get busy.
Not much to it but the ocean makes it beautiful
Everyone goes to Piper's Lagoon - its a Nanaimo landmark. Easy walk around with the lagoon on one side and the ocean on the other. Bring good shoes for going up the rocky area you have to climb both up and down to access most of the trail. At low tide you can also cross over to Shack Island and its old Japanese fishing camp. Piper's is a great place to spend an hour or two.
There is always lots of nature to see here. This little hummingbird let me get very close!
Beautiful place. It’s a short walk and relatively easy for anyone. Shack island is very unique, and the beach/lagoon is a pretty site. A little windy at times, but a short and sweet attraction with various picturesque qualities!
Beautiful beach and sunset!
Great family adventure walk/hike.
A Very Highly rated Attraction. This more compact Park (than its "neighbour") highlights the "ground level" view of the Page Lagoon [with its tidal flows]... as well as the Oceanside features including the pebble beaches, huge driftwood logs, places to sit and "experience"/enjoy the wildlife [birds and Marine Mammals] as well as the ships and Ferries departing from Nanaimo's busy Port. The comfortable benches allow one to take the time to absorb the many outstanding Natural features. If one is at the Lagoon at "low tide" one can walk from one side of the lagoon to the other (but be careful and make sure that you know when the tide changes!! This Park is very highly rated (by travellers like us) and has been awarded TripAdvisor's "Certificate of Merit". While visiting Neck Point Park.. it can be easily reached. I hope that this Review has been helpful.
Beautiful. Not too busy. Not alot for sea creatures though.
A beautiful place for a walk !
Excellent little beach to stop and enjoy the view.
Beautiful park, kids can play on the sandy beach when tide is low. Plenty of parking available.
Beautiful park with a very interesting shack living. A great little hike
Beautiful beaches and trail system lined with Oak and Arbutus trees
Awesome place to walk picnic, swim in the summer.
Great little place for a walk . Wonderfully small with massive views
First time here. Great park with nice parking. Great beach to walk. Tons of driftwood.
I love Piper's Lagoon. So beautiful and clean. It's amazing that it's so accessible to everyone.
Beautiful place for a swim and walk!
Very picturesque and lovely place for a stroll or just sitting and gazing
Great spot for a swim, picnic or walk
Nice enough to park, but if you keep driving neck point is better
Very relaxing and quiet place. It’s huge so there are lots of places to go by yourself/with friends and still be quite a distance from others. There’s also parking and washroom available.
Great hike great views
Wonderful beach spot for the family
Great short walk with some rocks and beach, would be fun to explore around with a kayak or canoe
Awesome
Great park. Watch the pot hole just over the speed bump going into the park. You will bottom out your car. It has been like this now for 4 months.... The park is amazing especially on a stormy day.
Peaceful and quiet. Great panoramic view!
Some pretty views out to the Strait. Made for a very pleasant afternoon walk. Did not seem overly crowded.
Excellent place to spend the day at the beach. There is nicw washrooms and a outdoor shower here too.
Beautiful beach and lagoon, lots of adventures to be had for all ages. Nice easy path and best sunsets!
Love , love this place. We often come here it's fun when the tide is far out because then the lagoon is empty and full of sea critters to look at also lots of sea glass can be found here I noticed as well .
Good place to go for a walk
A must see in Nanaimo. Well worth a walk.
Very clean and beautiful beach
Such a great place to have access to. Who isn't happier by the ocean!????
Pipers Lagoon is my favourite beach in the Nanaimo area. In the March herring roe cover the beach and the waters are full over wildlife - seals, sea lions, otters. In the summer, you can wade or swim.
Service was.gpod. food.was good too.
Awesome spot
Very nice beach
So beautiful
Great place to connect with and be awed by mother natures beauty. Walking up to the top of the hill close to the parking lot is also very enjoyable.
Very good place
Amazing walk, make sure to climb over the rocks to see the entire trail!
Good mix of sea side and wooded areas. Very easy walk for the most part except for an area of jagged rocks to get past half way. A little chilly in the winter though. Wear a hat and scarf! Great place for dogs.
Another picture perfect walk!
Amazing beach, trails rocks, perfect for pictures and veiws
Nice beach!
What a beautiful park! In everyway!
Very busy not much parking. But beautiful as always.
What a beautiful place! Lots to see and at low tide you can see so much washed up on the shore.
Excellent views and walk. Great location.
Beautiful park. Great area for go to g kites. At low tide.
Don't come here we want this jewel to ourselves. ;-)
Great for a walk or just a family picnic
Good place to swim. Limited parking.
Beautiful beach and walking path around the lagoon. Also a great spot for sunsets!
It was harder than we expected to walk the trail. The tide came in and we had to walk in water.
Awesome park great for a quick stop
Super nice here all year round. Great location to go swimming and chill on the beach side. Not too busy here either.
Lovely spot to stop after getting off ferry before heading north. Little used beach and park when we were there Oct 3-4.
Beautiful park nice walking trail around the lagoon. Dogs welcome on leash
Amazing views of the Salish Sea/the Straight of Georgia. You must walk over an uneven rock face to access most of the park. You can stay near the entrance of the park to avoid this if you have any balance or mobility issues.
Love this place, great for an afternoon stroll. Wear appropriate footwear though!
A very good place for swimming in the summer!
Easy walking terrific views
Great place with birds
One of my favorite places to visit.
Wear good shoes for small hiking. Beautiful park.
Seals !!!
Beautiful place to go for a walk. When tide goes out u can walk the fringes of the lagoon and walk the beach. Beautiful views.
Good place to hang out.
So many places to walk. Lots of wildlife and good beach combing
So beautiful. There is a sea lion that swims by quite frequently. A little rocky in some spots. Wear good shoes!
It's a great place for a walk and to take the family for a picnic
Beautiful place with light hiking
Nice view. Rocky beach.
Such a cute and in the element walk! It's not obvious to climb up this big rock, but that is how you can get to the other side of the trail!
High tide but awesome negative ions enjoyed year round
Great little hike.... Hold on to little ones!
Great little spot to breath some ocean air and do a little walk along the ocean and through the trees! You would never know you were in the middle of Nanaimo :) outside showers too!
