Huge, beautiful church. If you are in the area definitely pop in just to see it. You will not be disappointed.

A beautiful cathedral. The pictures say it all.

I was so much more impressed with this basilica than the Notre Dame. It's huge and the alter is very similar to the alter in St. Peters in Rome. It's a sight to see and I recommend not missing out on venturing inside. The seating capacity …

It is a minor basilica and the third largest church in Quebec, located near the Bonaventure metro station and Central Station in downtown Montreal. Stunning Renaissance and Baroque architecture.

Jeanette

I love the architecture and immaculate details put into cathedrals overall, but this ranks up with the top of them. You could wander and stare at everything for 2 hours and still not fully grasp the beauty of the craftsmanship.

M Bucheeri

Absolutely beautiful. The designs are magnificent. Very calm atmosphere.

Al Lingua

Probably one of the must amazing cathedrals I have ever seen. The beauty of the inside was breath taking. As you walked around you could feel the presence of GOD close to you. It have different areas to workshop in, tomb area, and many areas to light candle for your loved ones. Absolutely I must see if you love beauty of the church.

Soheil Saeidmehr

We arrived when there was a mass in progress. We were politely asked to enter from the sides and wait until the mass is over. It qas a great experience overall. The organ, the atmosphere, the paintings, and sheer magnitude and artistry of what we were seeing struck us the most. Would definitely visit again.

Jayashree

Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is a stunning structure to look at from the outside. You can also sit at the park at Place du Canada across the street and gaze away if you like. Inside, it is opulent and magnificent. There is an entry fee, but it’s not too crowded

That was true experience of been in actually working church. People were praying there, yet we were allowed to explore the church grounds and see the background work. If you have a choice to see only one church in Montreal, you should be here.

Samuel Bouchard

Worth a visit as much as Notre-Dame Basilica. Beautiful and peaceful place.

YIAN ZENG

Impressive place. It looks great from outside and it is more luxurious inside. Sometimes there is wedding in the church.

Duke

Large catholic cathedral in the middle of Montreal. Various detailed art pieces as well as religious icons. Great place to be married in but beware the reservation to do it.

Jodi Wyman

An enormous, beautiful and peaceful space. There's no fee to go into this church.

Catherine Mastebroek

It's a beautiful cathedral in a lovely part of town. The architecture stands out very much among the modern buildings surrounding it, but that only compliments the building. The interior seems much bigger than the outside and it is very light and pleasant inside. The only thing that is a little annoying is the large amount of voluntary collection boxes throughout the building. I understand why the church would have these, but placing only a handful of them at the entrance would be fine too...

jovy cleofe

Simple yet solemn church located at Rue de la Cathedral Montreal.

Azka Shafiq

Mind blowing, so gorgeous, we thought it was more impressing than the notre dame. A must see if you’re in montreal. It isnt crowded with tourists so it makes it more pleasant.

Solecitosays

I visited this Cathedral for the very first time this year and I can tell you is one of the most beautiful temples that I have never seen. I already visited a lot of buildings here in Montreal, but this one is really one to remember. This Cathedral is close to the metro station Bonaventure, orange line, and it has a very easy access to other type of transportation. It is consider a minor basilica, the third largest church in Quebec province. According to the information that I obtained from internet, work constructions started in 1875 and in 2000 this place was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. It is simply amazing! The interior is so impressive that you won’t stop taking photos and looking everywhere because of its beautiful paintings. It has a very nice great organ, a small chapel and a burial chapel. The cupola will take your breath away. If you are looking for a place to get married in with a lot of class and tradition, this is definitely the place to do it! Also, if you want to take beautiful pictures of you or your family outside the building, the main front is a great and stunning location to do it. Enjoy your visit!

Al Maldonado

Breathtaking... You must visit Montreal!!! ❤️

John Medellin

Love this place super clean and filled with God's mercy and grace.

One of the must see attractions in town. I like the historic building and high ceilings. This is also a photogenic spot for Instagram lovers.

The Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral is absolutely stunning! The facade is beautiful on the outside but wait until you get inside. I was mesmerized by the beauty of the Cathedral. The statues, the interior and the sacredness of the place were just a few to enjoy during the visit. Looking up top on the ceiling shows the beauty of the place. Also to mention, the staff were tremendous during our visit!

Visited this minor basilica in Sept 2018 for a wedding. It is the 3rd-largest church in Quebec after Saint Joseph's Oratory (also in Montreal) and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré east of Quebec City. It was created as a scale model of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. Instead of the statues of the 12 apostles on the façade of Saint Peter's, the front of this cathedral is topped by statues of the patron saints of 13 parishes of Montreal who donated them. On March 28th, 2000, the cathedral was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. Read for more details on Wikipedia! Since located downtown, there is no parking lot, only street parking. No wheelchair entrance doors but they are wide enough to enter with some help and assistance. There is a ramp going up to the doors. For weddings, I noticed a few (fancy) cars park on the ramp. Definitely worth a visit if you're into churches and architecture.

James Dean Trepanier

The church is a 1/3 size replica of St Paul Basilica in Rome. Grandiose, Serene, and quiet. An absolute must see in downtown Montreal.

sepehr Naeeni

Awesome, I have no words to explain the beauty of this place. Surround buildings and near area is also something to visit. Must recommend to visit here if you are gonna plan to go Montèal.

Rachel Stenta

A beautiful place for Mass. I didn't have the opportunity to go back for a tour. Remember all masses are in French. Congregation was friendly. A beautiful basilica inside and out.

Deeyosha

???? It’s a very beautiful chuch. ???? One of the place that should be visited when you’re visiting Montreal.

Luis

Absolutely beautiful cathedral. Luckily you will get to see the inside at your own pace if it is not mass time. Once inside you can admire the stunning decorations and altar by the front, made to resemble the one in the Vatican. One of the churches I will visit again once I come back to Montreal in the future.

Yaroslav Ehrhart

Very nice place if you are in downtown its worth stopping by and checking it out regardless of your religion.

Aiko Rose

So, so beautiful. Not religious, but I like to go there to admire the place. Sincerely breathtaking :)

Amber Ferger

Completely underrated place to visit in Montreal! I have no idea why it isn't more widely known...I visited Montreal for the first time and was browsing blogs for things to check out in the area, but not one of them mentioned this gem! Beautiful architecture and amazing acoustics. Would definitely recommend visiting!

oMykhajlo K

Amazing. If you can't get to st Peter's basilica in Rome or if you've been there - Come to Montreal's cathedral. You'll be (I'll use it again) amazed.

iron2max

Very serene. I visit every time I come to Montreal. I like the fact they have daily morning Mass.

Georges Younes

The first time that you'll walk in front of Mary Queen of the World Cathedral, you'll get a vague feeling of déjà vu. The reason will seem too obvious when you remember why. This cathedral was conceived to be a smaller scale version of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome. The cathedral was built and consecrated in the latter part of the nineteenth century and is on the Canadian Register of Historical Places.

Amanda Keller

This is a completely free tourist attraction in the city. It is relatively well maintained, very ornate, filled with art. The staff during the summer are friendly enough. Pro tip if you want a free tour with a priest in training go to the crypt and see if there are men waiting. If they are waiting they'll chat you up and point out random facts in French, English or Italian May to August. They will also answer questions and nope you don't need to be Catholics or even Christian but the facts are of course from a catholic perspective.

Alex D'Amico

Beautiful Cathedral. Went for a Funeral. There were two professional singers that performed several beautiful songs. Acoustics were excellent.

Caroline C.

Very fine architecture! The staff are so accommodating too and took their time to give us a little tour on the areas that are usually closed for viewing (ex. The tomb of Bishops). It is a great place to pray and meditate as they have various adoration corners/mini chapel. Really stunning interior!

Victorien Boni

A great place to pray God with Jesus, Mary, St Joseph and the holy spirit

S G

A superb cathedral. It is immense and beautiful. I attend a wedding and this church contributed to the splendidness of it. The entire place is breathtaking. There is so much to look at. The extremely high ceilings with paintings of saints …

N NH

Huge nice place after saint Joseph oratory. Car can drive up and park right on front of door to drop off.

Bárbara Rosado

Very beautiful church! It worth the visit to meet a new place :) you don't need to pay any fee to go there.

Joelle Sarkis

Vg G

Architecturally inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome, a must see for any visitor in Montreal.

yuliaoSunny

Beautiful place, open to public for free. The decorations are not as colourful or intricate as some other basilicas in the city, but it’s more majestic. The Cathedral is also close to other attractions of the city so it’s a nice place to stop by, offer a prayer, or even just to sit and quiet down for a bit.

Maricris

One of my favourite church in town. Mary, Queen of the World has a Unique architecture, a fantastic roof mosaique art, a lot of history and a peaceful/calm place always full of surprises. Last Sunday afternoon a beautiful Choral gifted us …

M G

Absolutely beautiful architecture. Incredible building, with a ton of history.

Angelo Baleta

This place is really awesome. See the famous saints on top of the Cathedral. You will be amazed who they are. Kindly read the info before you enter. This will give you an idea why this Basilica has been build. Magnificent!

Kate Fernandes

Big and beautiful church! I would recommend visiting. Will the quiet relaxing stillness that comes with all churches, I like reflecting on Mary Queen of the world as a cosmopolitan place like Canada has so much humanity, togetherness and joy. Very beautiful. Also, check out the gift shop on the right, got some unique souvenirs.

John Bordy

Beautiful inside. It costs nothing to walk through so do yourself a favor and check it out if you are in the area.

Aziz Virani

One of the best Cathedrals I have seen in the world. It carries its history brilliantly with it. A soothing experience.

Hollywood Classics

I recently began working across the street at the CIBC building and in the early evening after work i pass this historic, breathtaking church. The sound of church bells create a beautiful , surreal atmosphere in the heart of the city especially during the Christmas season. It makes me stop and appreciate life. I feel like i am in a classic Christmas movie. I hope the church continues with this tradition. I am not a practicing catholic but i would like to attend a service. Build it and they will come!
