REVIEWS OF Kariya Park IN Mississauga

A Japanese garden located just south of Square One, named after Mississauga's sister city, Kariya, Japan since 1981. It has a lot of Japanese-style gardens, pavilion, cherry trees, rhododendrons and several sculptures gifted by Kariya City. It's like you've gone back to Japan for this brief moment. The park is really cute, lots of nice scenery and has a sitting place as well. Great to take kids to and walk around. Great place to stroll through the history of the partnership as well. There's also the mosaic given to Mississauga in 2011 which has 6,750 photos from past delegations and twinning events. Also to see is The Friendship Bell that was a gift to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the sister city partnership and the new millennium.

This place is just gorgeous. I love everything about it. If you are a photographer or a videographer and have wedding clients or grad clients this is the place to go. Make sure you get permits online just to make sure you stay on the safe side of things, but other than that enjoy the beautiful views and live the the time of your life. There is a lot of greenery and very beautiful textures that make it very versatile and different and allows for different pictures and shot ideas. 10/10 would definitely recommend checking it out and spending some time here.

Sarah

It's a cute modest little park. Supposedly known for its cherry blossoms during this season but unfortunately they are very late bloomers. Located in downtown Mississauga, it could get quite crowded and annoying since the park is quite …

Going to Kariya Park is like steping into a beautiful price of Japan. The flowers, the pond, the structures and layout take you to that part of the world without ever leaving your city. I lived in the area for a few years and always enjoyed going there for some peace and quiet.

Kumar K

Beautiful small park in near square one. Lot of peace inside the park. Many birds welcome you. Nice spot for a theme photo shoots and also to spend time with your loved ones. 1 of the must visits as per canada tourisms also in fall season. Nice Japanese theme park and a good trials to walk on. A very tiny one compared to the number of other parks of Canada but in square one a beautiful place to sit and hang out if you are not a fan of spending your day in the crowded mall. A perfect picture capturing place in heart of Mississauga one should not miss a visit to. But it's a small one just remember that...

A small park in a bustling downtown Mississauga perfect for a quiet Sunday walk. A great ambience away from the busy city life. Beautiful pond with Japanese-influenced architecture. Great dating spot for young couples, instagram bloggers alike. Parking may be difficult as only street parking is available. However, the park is within a 5 min walk from Square One. Alas, I wish there were more cherry blossoms to make this park complete.

Dr Manasa

Quite nice place spend the evenings with family

Arnab Das

Little park, but well maintained. Have pond, ducks and lot of trees. Have a little bridge. If you want to change your mood, please come here. This little park always makes me feel relaxed and energized.

Damaris Flores

This park is perfect for a walk and relax. It's kind of small but the view is amazing. The park is located in the middle of Mississauga downtown which makes the atmosphere very special. There is birds, fishes and ducks surrounding the park …

Beautiful picturesque park walking distance from Square One Mall. So calming to walk around and enjoy scenery. Great for taking pictures. Pond has fish, turtles and ducks, it’s so nice to enjoy quiet time there. Lots of Japanese inspired sculptures since park is named after Kariya city in Japan. Park was built in 1996 to commemorate 15 anniversary of twinning between Kariya city and city of Mississauga. Wondering around beautiful greenery and flowers is so serene and relaxing soaking spirit from the nature.

TunaSubaru

A great place for video/photoshoots. It’s about a 15 min drive within the Toronto area. Parking is free when you park nearby the residential.

TRIJAY MEDIA

Close to home. Enjoy the ducks, fishes and turtles in the pond. Best time is during Cherry Blossom season in end of April to May. Paid parking. Walking distance from Square One. Japanese Garden. Zen like!

Anushray Singh

This space is beautiful, clean and aesthetically pleasing. Wonderful way to spend your evening. You'll appreciate the Japanese design and aesthetics of this petite park.

Raulson Sequeira

This is park is very beautiful and well maintained. However its a very small park, you can complete a round of the park walking in 2 mins. People mostly spend time watching the fowl and just relaxing on their mats and talking with friends. One can click good pictures here. Not really meant for jogging. Very green park.

Jessica Rodrigues

A beautiful park paying homage to Japan in the heart of downtown Mississauga. Ducks and turtles can be found swimming in the ponds. The Japanese Cherry Blossoms are visible in the spring time which is when the park is at it's most beautiful.

Peter Ibrahim

Named after it's sister town in Japan, this park definitely has numerous Japanese influences, from the bamboo fence to the sculptures and subtle engravings, it really feels like you walked into a tiny part of Japan. Of course there are cherry blossoms as well when they are in season! As well as a pond that is normally filled with ducks. My favorite park in Mississauga, it is quite small but I absolutely love the vibe and aesthetic.

Maurice Kwok

I enjoyed a very comfortable walk this afternoon to view beautiful Sakura Japanese cherry blossoms. I parked on the side road across the park for C$3 per hour. The park was built in 1996 to commemorate the fifteen anniversary of the …

Tips: 1. Watch out when you park by the street. There is a lot of cars parking in front of the park but that is not for parking. I saw the policeman was issuing tickets when I get there. There is a street parking near by with 4 minutes to walk. Parking rate is $1 per hour. 2. Be aware of covid 19. Many visitors there. 3. Dress nice to take some beautiful photos with flowers.

Felix L

The park is beautiful and the cherry blossoms are perfect for photos! I was expecting the park to be larger than it was, but that’s okay. Also, it was super packed with people.

Reymando E (Reymando com)

Had a great photoshoot done with my model Cheryl, glad we both got in early before more people came in. All photos is on my website Reymando.com

☀️Beautiful. Amazing place to take pictures in the spring. Very busy in the evenings but just perfect in the morning.

Ivan Mauricio Ruiz

Beautiful park near to squar one

Brian S

Always liked this little park. Finally got to see it with some of the cherry blossoms. Usually quite peaceful though today there seemed to be two weddings going on at the very least. It's a small, walled park so it should be easy to keep track of the kids if you bring them. Though being in the "centre" of the city, if you want to visit it at its most peaceful, you'll have to aim for the off season.

A T

A small quiet park in middle of Mississauga city centre. A wonderful place to meditate or read or just chill for an hour or so. It has pond with small turtles too , and many places to sit and relax. Wonderful flora too( in summers). Parking is on the street, is paid and many times not available. But a clean place makes you forget you are in a busy city.

Ryan C

Semi-hidden jewel of a park tucked away just a block from Square One. Built in honour of Mississauga's sister city Kariya, Japan, this park is mostly known for its few cherry blossom trees in the late spring, but it's still a very gorgeous and peaceful little park even in the winter. The ducks love the tiny ponds as you can see from my photos, and it won't take more than 10 minutes to walk around and check out the entire park itself.

Sarezh kamla

Very Beautiful, relaxing park, with different nature sights : trees , birds , ponds , .....

Char Aznable

This park is very beautiful. We went for the cherry blossoms and it was a great park to take a walk in. It's located near square one so you can grab something to eat there, and head over to the park after. It looks well maintained, as it's very clean. There are benches and rocks you can sit on across the park. In the bigger pond they had some fish in the water. They have alot of duck and geese so it's great to go and sit down and watch the animals. We seen one person bring bread to feed them. We did notice some kids going around and messing with the animals which was horrible to see. They need someone to periodically check the park to make sure these kids are messing with the animals.

RAVI HALDANIA

Amazing Garden!!! This is one the most beautiful gardens in the heart of Mississauga. The one place where one could find heritage, culture, garden, water bodies, water animals and lots n lots of ways to have fun! The park is based on Japanese culture and heritage. As you can see lots of texts and sculptures in the park related to Japanese art. Moreover, the park also boasts ducks and turtles. The ducks are all around in the park which adds on to the natural beauty. There is a bridge in the middle of the garden over the water body which looks very beautiful. There is no playground in the park so no swings or slides. But the Kidz enjoy even more here with the nature, ducks and the turtles. The parents can enjoy the Japanese culture and heritage while the children run around after ducks or say their hellos to turtles. All in all a beautiful and well maintained park to enjoy sunny day or evenings with family.

Y Oh

So Kariya Park is a lot smaller than what I imagined! It’s a neighborhood park hidden within the condos, close enough of a walk to Hudson’s Bay of Square one. …

Ares Chen

Exquisite park in Japanese style and layout. Nice place to temporary escape from the realiaty for your rest.

yunqian Xia

It's a small park in the center of the city. It's built in a Japanese style. There are ducks, squirrels and other animals. They are not afraid of people and saw tourists feeding them food. It's a pity that I didn't see the cherry trees that day. The trees haven't blossomed yet

M

Nice place for engagement and wedding photos but can be busy. There is 1 hour of free parking across the street at 50-90 burnhamthorpe road west in the parking structure. Lots of benches and little ponds and bridges. Beautiful place but can be even more beautiful when cherry blossoms bloom. Right now, it seems a bit gloomy due to parts of the park being closed.

Gabe Bucoy

Nice little park, usually quiet when I go. The Cherry Blossom trees here are beautiful, and I believe there are 2 different types here. This year, one bloomed earlier than the other type, but still very beautiful.

Nicole Chung

I went here a few weeks back in July 2020. Quaint little area. I went at around 8pm which was surprisingly busy with children and families, so it was a tad difficult capturing photos without people in the background. That said, it’s a nice little place to visit if you’re in the area but not worth the trek if you’re located 20+ mins away. Kind of wish there was more upkeep for the fixtures, litter, and in the pond area.

Ikram Patel

As the name goes, this park is named after its twin city of "Kariya" which is in Japan. As you enter this park, you are greeted with ethnic Japanese architectural elements which are a Pagoda shapes roof, a Bronze Zen gong, Cherry blossom trees, Zen gardens, ponds with ducks and so on. Its a fairly compact area, but beautifully maintained. It has many more interesting elements, like the mosaic painting and the stone statues of twin sisters. Its a good spot to take your family too, and your kids will surely love running around the ponds and the green landscape, ring the gong, and definitely click a zillion pictures. A Perfect spot for photoshoots and a few hours of unwinding yourself. A definite must visit.

sidharth vk

One of the best closed parks near square one, this park is small in size, but the ambience is awesome and we can see lot of squirrels, ducks and sometimes pigeon too. They does not fear humans and come very close to us, which was too good and my kid enjoyed alot.

Tricky Moreira

This is a hidden gem in Mississauga, around the corner from the Marilyn Munro towers. It’s a Japanese influence park named after Kariya with Cherry Blossom trees (when in bloom), in a quaint, serene space. The park is very small - you can literally walk through it in 5 minutes. It’s a great place to get lost in, relax, read a book, or watch the ducks, birds: coy fish, and turtles. It’s pretty cool. #cherryblossom #ducks #park #coyfish #serenity #mississauga #hiddengems

Moody

Amazing view, hidden gem in the heart of Mississauga, also very close to Square one, love the Japanese theme. Great atmosphere and very quiet, great place to chill! IG: Moody.Clx for more!

Krantikumar Shriramdas

Small but very beautiful park in downtown Mississauga. It's themed in Japanese culture. The park has a small water pond in the middle of the park which is very scenic. It's very good place to bring kids. The garden is very well maintained. There is no dedicated parking available for park. It has only few spots of pay and park roadside parking.

Fatheen Ali

Nice little park to visit with friends and family. Also great for taking pictures !

Pauline Jacob

Small park but we'll kept and pretty, it would be great if they had a ready room in the premise because I noticed many mother's with small kids coming here; peaceful plane in the heart of Mississauga. Good place for a relaxing walk

reshu jain

Beautiful park to relax and for picnics

Prabhakar Annadurai

A Beautiful garden in the central of Mississauga.. nice place to hangout in the evening with family .. lot of trees , ducks and ponds in it .. the park is very clean.. the place become more vibrant and beautiful during spring for cherry blossom... it has a wooden bridge to cross between the ponds .. The only disadvantage is there is no playgrounds, swings Or slides for the kids .. All in all the park is a nice hangout place for the people in the neighborhood.

Jenn O

Gorgeous little park, very serene. I always enjoy visiting kariya park, especially when cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Best time to go is midday during the week as the weekends get quite busy.

Coco Zhang

A surprise cute park. The ducks and squirrels are so adorable. Good place for peaceful walk here.

Ahmad T

I took someone very special to me here a couple of time and It's a nice little park to go to. I like the water and the giant bell that's there. It's somewhere I may go during a wedding. I did see many brides and Grooms at this park. I've seen a lot of influencers take pictures at this park. It seems like a lost gem of Mississauga.

natasha hillocks

This is a quaint tiny garden with some ducks in dirty water. The effort that was made to make this garden a cute space is admirable but it is more like a nicely created backyard garden with a theme than a place to sightsee or picnic. As my teenage niece puts it, "it's a place you go to cry after failing a Math test and needing to cry." It is small and cute but not much to see or do here.

Vismay S

Beautiful gem hidden in downtown.. interesting story behind this park highlighting connection to Kariya city in Japan . The Park is relatively very small park but it has serene vibes with beautiful pins but well popular among locals for little escapade to other realm:)

Jason Goveas

It's a nice park for a quiet day sitting around or just for a stroll. I feel its not as well maintained as it could be. The ducks and squirrels here are really friendly and come right up to you without fear. I'm eagerly waiting for the cherry blossoms I've been told will pop up soon.

Jackie Abalos

Such a small beautiful park. It is very peaceful and there are a lot of ducks who are approachable. I had a hard time getting my 3 year old son to leave. We spent hours here and he loved it. There are turtles as well!

Jehad Affoneh

Beautiful spot to stop by, enjoy a quiet evening, or just watch the ducks in the water. Could be busy in the evening. Tons of space to sit down, enjoy a short walk, or take a few pictures. You mean even spot a turtle in the water when you’re there!

Woojin Chun

You can feel about Japanese park in here

Ali Ziyaei

Nice little park, very small place, nothing much to see or do.

Mohamed Ameer

Park is nice and clean. A great place to spend time with your loved ones.

Naveen Rafa

This park is small but it is one of the prettiest. Located just in the middle of the city it can't get any better. Highly recommend a visit when the cherry ???? blossoms

Jovan Gardner

The garden itself is nice, it is not very large so not much walking. I wish I was able to find free parking though but will definitely visit again, but will take the transit instead.

Antoine Raj

Wonderful park for handout with Family and well planned landscape to sit down or for a quick evening walk

Nicholas Jensen de Mattos

Came expecting to see cherry blossoms. Was extremely and utterly disappointed that weren't any to be found during the time of the year I came at (late June). Everything else was great though. Solid 4/5 would visit again.

Leonard E

This is a beautiful park just a few hundred metres south of Square One Shopping Centre. You might even get into such a relaxing state to forget that this gem is found inside a busy city. The design reminded me of a similar inner city park I visited in Tokyo in Dec-2019. Wow! Street parking is available for $1 per hour with a two hour maximum which should be enough time to recharge your soul!

Ashu Talwar

Love the beauty of the park. So peaceful and relaxing. ???? but squirrels were looking us like they r so hungry. hope caretaker feeds all creatures there. ????

Jojan Abraham

A very Serene Park. With beautiful trees like Cherry Blossom ???? And small ponds with ducks swimming around. Squirrels and other beautiful birds nesting away in the greenery is a sight to behold. Must go to place for enjoying nature in the city's hustle bustle.

Fern Fern

Although this park is small, it has a very zen like feel to it. The park is beautiful & serene. It is the perfect place to get away if you need some quiet time. A diamond in the rough.

travelhholic dr

Most amazing and scenic garden in the middle of high rise buildings near square one. Best time to visit spring and summer. Parking is available on the front door and paid which was like 1$ per hour. But you can park free in streets. It’s a small park so 2 hours are quite enough for viewing it.

Shehan Liyanage

Nice small park in middle of busy Mississauga. Ideal for walk after busy day to calm & be one with nature.

Viba Jagan

Great nature backdrop in the heart of missisauga. No entrance fee. Good place to get some fresh air. Ducks and squirrels makes the place so fun for kids.Park is busy and quite crowded at times, but kids will love it! (Roadside parking). The park is maintained well and clean. Awesome place for morning walks and photoshoot!! Been here numerous times, but still love it and close to heart..

Dilpreet Singh

A great local park, designed beautifully in a small area. Great place to relax as there are 2 small ponds with ducks and tortoises. Gives you a good feel of the nature and the Japanese inspired garden.

Bharat Shah

Beautiful park with a duck pond. A nice place to be with nature, enjoy the pond and the ducks, and meditate upon good, positive thoughts. It is a very small park. If you are looking for a picnic place with a big park, lots of benches, and walking trail/s, playground for children, and a free parking this park is not for you. Unlike most of the parks in Mississauga, there is no free parking. The entrance and the park are on Kariya drive. Just a few cars can be parked on the street for $1:00 an hour for a maximum of two hours. Well, one $ an hour is very nominal, but you may not get a spot to park. It is a good idea to park your vehicle anywhere in Square One area where there are plenty of free parking lots. The advantage is that you have at least some distance to walk to the park and back. There is hardly anything to walk in the park.

Cory Sakai

Beautiful compact Japanese themed garden park. It's small, and very scenic with different areas to stroll and take pictures around a central pond, so it's quite busy. Several structures to provide some shade and places to sit. There's also a traditional rock garden, but sadly children of some ignorant parents or individuals play on the raked rock surface so it is frequently ruined. Not much in the way of traditional park space, so don't come expecting to play soccer here. Street parking within a 1 minute walk, and food establishments across the street. TIP: Park at Fairview Public School around the corner for free less congested parking during non-school hours and just walk through the back of the school yard to the park.

Maria

Beautiful park - always a pleasure to come visit. My only gripe was that the signage clearly states no dogs and no bicycles, but there were people coming into the park with them. I think the signage needs a bit updating as they seem outdated, and a bit more clear. Even during these times, especially when it is busiest during the blossoming season, I think there needs to be someone at the front monitoring those coming in so as not to disturb the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of the park. Another thing - the zen garden is sadly unfixed. I was looking forward to observing it but it was naught.

Peter Phu

Very nice and quiet park. Limited parking is on the street. Great for picnic on the grass area, although they'll be ducks and squirrels …

Tim Chu

A very nice and peaceful park at the heart of city. You can see all the tall buildings surrounding this park, but the park brings the Zen to the busting life around. Beautiful landscape with niche Japanese reference everywhere. 10 minutes walk around, stroller and wheelchair friendly.

Millie Gallo

This Garden is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, calming, it’s very zen! Great place to read a good book, take wedding photos, first date, feed the ducks ☺️ have a picnic. It’s a little hidden gem!

Reza R

It is supposed to be a nice Japanese park, and it was designed well, but it was not kept well and being the only park near so many apartments, also very busy. Parking is on road. I guess Cherry blossom and Fall May have good photo opportunities.

Sadaf Rai

Beautiful park, well kept with ducks and a nice walk. Small but nice to relax and go for a stroll or sit on a bench. Parking is on the street and free after 6pm.

Gwen Imbuido

Only three trees were fully bloomed mid May. A bit disappointed but beautiful nonetheless. A cute little park great for a walk during lunch or an hour of reading time.

Saleha Ashfaq

Its a beautiful park , kids love the duck ponds, the cherry blossom trees are beautiful in spring and it has this beautiful small bridge over the ponds .. theres seating ,its a serene peaceful japanese park and great for any photography... its well maintained and clean. The ducks and geese randomly walk here and there its a pleasure to watch...

Zakera Hussain

Small park with coy pond and geese who are very ok with humans being in their space.????..some sitting areas great for meditation....best to avoid weekends..was very busy..

Khushboo Sahota

Best friend had her wedding photoshoot here, the trees were still changing colours which made it exceptionally beautiful. The park has some very nice spots for photos for weddings or engagements. Highly recommend!!

Ashith Pinto

Its a small park, but very beautiful with small ponds, it takes you to the world of peace and serenity.

Sania Mansoor

Park is nice but visited at wrong time cherry blossoms weren't bloomed... All over it was beautiful.. will definitely visit again.

Mark Ricard

Gorgeous little park. Lots of ducks and squirrels, and if they come out there is a few turtles we saw with excitement. Despite being close to a road, the atmosphere is pretty quiet aside from the ducks. I genuinely wish I lived close to a park like this as it is a perfect place to relax and read. I would recommend.

Husam Mohammed

One of my favourite little parks.

Nadiya Mansuri

Really beautiful and calm park. Pictures come out great. Usually not that busy but if it is, there's definitely a lot of families out with their kids. There is limited street parking that you have to pay for but you could always just park at square one and walk it to the park, it's within walking distance. Overall, really great place to hang out.

Shan Sayed

A very cool park in the middle of the concrete jungle of Mississauga downtown. It Japanese zen garden. And during late spring it's filled with cherry blossoms. A popular spot for wedding photos and even occasional photography. Very serene and beautiful park. And the squirrels are so bold and would come up to for feed... hence there are signs everywhere not to feed the animals.

Sherry Qin

It is a small and peaceful park with Cherry Blossoms. The duck pond make the environment so enjoyable.

Shel Wilson

I would call this space a mix between a park and a parkette. Not a very large path/ground to spend away the afternoons but it is a nice retreats away from the neighboring high rises. Most of all, you can come to appreciate the little touches and eclectic charm around every corner

La

Really beautiful peaceful park that is usually quite quiet. The park has big trees, bridges, ducks, and cherry blossom trees! A nice spot to go to if you’re in the area; especially nice if it’s cherry blossom season! It’s located right across from Square One

Jagdeep Jassi

Excellent little oasis in the heart of the city. I didn't know it existed until I searched up Japanese style gardens. It has a Japanese style wall surrounding it on all sides. Plenty of benches and trees provide shade for you sprawl out. There is a tiny zen garden that unfortunately is not given the attention it deserves.

Patrice Dacres

Lovely Garden with cute duck pond & lots of squirrels. If you're lucky you might spot a little turtle. Kids love feeding the ducks as well

Frank Dimola

Very beautiful park and serene!!

N. B.

Small but cute Japanese-designed garden. Don't expect it to compete with actual Japanese gardens in Japan as there's only so much you can do with the different climate, but they've added many mini tableaus that come close.

Rob

Very quaint Japanese style park in the 905. Beautiful ducks splash about in the ponds and there is a huge bell to check out. Was nice to walk around and get some fresh air in this park.

Gursimran Singh

It was after snow that I went, was okish. I saw pictures of it in summers when we have leaves on trees and its awsome. Winters was a lot of slippery due to hardened ice. One lake was partially frozen the other facing sun was good with lot of goose.

Mina Maria

Beautiful but small park. Parking on the street is $1 per hour with a 2 hr max. No dogs or bikes allowed. No feeding the waterfowl but saw many people do it. Mainly stroller friendly. Lots of ducks, turtles, and squirrels. Water was too cloudy to see the koi clearly. Missed the cherry blossom season by a few weeks.

M M

Good for a small stroll. Nothing special though. Saw some photographers taking use of the main shed with bell for engagement pictures.

Jonathan Crame

This is a small park in downtown Mississauga. The park is beautiful but there's not much to do becasue it's very small. It's a nice place for a quick photo shoot specially in the spring where you can take your photo beside the cherry blossom trees. Limited paid parking is available but the park is very close to the square one mall so it's better to park your car at the mall then take a quick walk to get to the park.

Garima Dhurandhar

Amazing park to spend time with family and friends. It is so beautiful that you can have photo shoots. And cherry blossom is awesome.

Gangalaramsamy Yogesh

Beautiful. Cherry blossoms were not ready yet. Nice little pond in a well designed Japanese themed park. Parking can be an issue. We left the car in the square one lot and walked there. A few shops across the street from the park serve refreshing drinks that can be enjoyed sitting on one of the benches, rocks or on the grass in the park.

Akil Creft

Kariya park is a nice little quiet spot semi hidden in central Mississauga, that is a nice reminder that there is beauty right here in the city. I think just due to covid times, it can get a little busy, but it's not too crowded. They're animals and things like that, for the kids to interact with. Also there is plenty of selfie opportunities if that's your thing. In terms of cultural value, I'm personally not well knowledgeable of all Japanese culture, but I do know a thing or two about it. I'd say that it was definitely put together in a respectful manner. The only negative thing I can say about the park is that, I wish it was a little bigger, but it's still very quaint the way it is. Overall, it's a nice mini escape from daily daunting tasks, in reality, and it comes as no surprise that you feel just a little closer to nature, and peaceful while here. Until the next, Cheers!!

Vanessa Chan

A small park, but the ponds are alive with playful ducks which were delightful to watch. Great place for families or a group of friends to relax. This really is a hidden gem right next to Square One shopping centre. If you are just walking and observing, 30 minutes is enough (when paying for meter street parking).
