Serene, good place for quiet prayer time. Located in Midland Ontario. It is run by Jesuit fathers and brothers. A pilgrimage place where you can also see the reliqui of Saint Jean de brebeuf, one of the Canadian martyrs. It has a station Of the cross. Definitely one of the place to visit for prayer.

Everything was beautiful. Clean. We borrowed a wheelchair from the church. The gentleman guide was most kind. After I made a few purchases I went back to the office to thank the person for loaning us the wheelchair and ask for a blessing. The gentleman is a priest. Beautiful place. Even if you go for purely aesthetic reasons, it's worth it. The shrine itself is lovely, and the grounds (with the many small chapels, statues and memorials) are gorgeous. Better still, of course, is to go to pray. It's a deeply holy place. A thin place.

I visit every year with my family. Great place for a picnic and mass. $6 entrance for adults. Lots of picnic tables on the grounds. There are shrines and statues as well. The church is also very beautiful and historic.

Every summer my Grandparents would take my sisters and I for holidays on Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay. The Martyr Shrine was a large white church on a hill that we would pass on the way to Beausoleil Island. We would always want to visit the church so one day our mother decided to take us. We were very young so it was really difficult to climb the many stairs up to the Grand Entrance of this very beautiful Shrine. When I entered I was really surprised at what I found inside. It was nothing like I had imagined. It was a definite learning experience into the history of Canada, Religion, Medicine, Politics and even the Sacrifices of this Great Nation. It was definitely an interesting and unforgettable learning experience that I have always cherished. I have been back a couple of times in my life, my favourite was when I brought my daughter for the first time. She loved it too and enjoyed the visit. There have been many additions to the Shrine since I first visited, but there are still so many adventures to see and learn here. The movie Black Robe was created to show the lives of all of the Martyrs that died that this church commemorates.

Nice place but feels like it turned into somewhat of a money grab tourist attraction, by that I mean that there are boxes for donations at every corner, many even tell you how much to donate. 3-5$ to lite a candle, only electric candles in the church btw, real candles are in a separate little building behind the church. Was 6$ to enter. Grounds are quite nice with ample areas to sit, rest, pray etc. Gift shop is as I remembered it, small and quaint with small religious tokens. The building itself and contents are beautiful and on par with other similar style Catholic churches.

The whole family was there for the celebration of lights at saint Marie amongst the hurons and the shrine was included. Unfortunately going into the shrine was not allowed, only a room in the back where santa was. Looks nice on the outside with the nights, campfires and frozen maple syrup lollipops were delicious.

So blessed to have this place so close, but deeply saddened that they've closed the Shrine AND St. Ignace II at this time. When we need to embrace these holy places during difficult times, there is a place where we can pray, but it's closed to us. I understand the Shrine closing (maybe), but the site of where 2 Martyrs died??! Why is St. Ignace II closed? Especially when their feast day is approaching....

They are open for a few months of the year. This is the only place of worship that I know where the old lady collector makes sure you pay (like you are trying to go in without paying). I know It's for the upkeep and maintenance. I would go there more even if I come from Scarborough but I feel the older staff ladies are grumpy. God forgive me.

This is a lovely place for a pilgrimage or to just quietly spend a day. It's most spiritually refeshing too. There is so much to do from early morning until the last mass of the day. Mass, Stations of the Cross, Rosary, Confessions, Prayer petitions, Reading Scripture, Pic Nics. There is a book store and a lovely Well to get Holy Water. And there is so much vast space to walk or to just sit quietly and feel the beautiful breeze and the presence of our Lord. There is so much history of the martyrs too. A wonderful place to bring family and friends.

The Shrine is a wonderful experience. Even if not of the Catholic religion you will enjoy. Strategically placed across the road from St Marie, which if open, you will also wish to visit when in the area. Opening is around the long weekend in May each year. The area outside the Shrine is also an amazing grounds, do take time to enjoy. Mass times are May 5th to October 8th at 9AM, 10:30AM, 12PM and 7:30PM.

Love Martyrs' shrine. Mam below there is an entire village set up beside the shrine with a full fort of the Natives history. It is stunning. Certain times of yrs they act out the entire fight between the Pilgrams and the natives. Enjoy.

A remarkable church in Midland. Very beautiful inside. The grounds are also amazing. The photo opportunities here are quite plentiful. It’s also located very close to the Ste Marie among the Hurons historical park and the Wye Marsh. All three locations are great for families.

Beautiful place but picked the wrong day. Always check ahead. Was a pilgrimage and they had about 10,000 people, too busy for anyone handicapped. Will return for sure. Beautiful grounds but lots of hills. Staff are awesome.

I have been there severak times before it is unfortunate the martyrs are no longer at the front of the church and where you moved St. Ignatius is a pity. If you dont know the relic exist you will not be looking at going downstairs where is dark and dungy and nit pious at all. I think if he were alive he would not approve of the changes...
