We went to the skating trail on a very snowy day so it was pretty quiet, and the trails were amazing! No ruts or holes in the ice, trails were kept clean, staff was very friendly, inexpensive, entertainment, free bannock making, it was a 6/5 experience! Only feedback I would have is maintain a social media account to post trail conditions. We were very hesitant to go because of all the snow over night, but the trails were actually perfect.

Really fun ghost walk experience, I love local history with a spooky twist. But in general it was a beautiful area, we should have come early to have dinner and see the area more before our walk but it was still fantastic, thank you.

Dinner good but served so hot had to wait 15 min before we could eat it. Service was terrible. Never checked on us til we had to call her for our bill as tour was starting. Had to ask if desert or coffee was included. Did get desert but had to pass on second drinks or coffee. Could have had both for the 45 min we sat ignored. Tour with Dave was fun

The Naval Military Establishment at Discovery Harbour is located just north of the Town of Penetanguishene. This place is a Gem! Lots to see and to explore. If you go during the 1812 Re-enactment you will not be disappointed. The Smoke and the smell of action on the field is entrancing. Definitely worth a visit if you're up in the area. Go check it out! ☺????????????

We really enjoyed Discovery Harbour and areas around the Harbour. Parks and views. We found a waterfront and stopped with a lunch. The old ships were a very nice sight and great for a photo opportunity. Also there is a very nice restaurant with an outdoor patio. Places to stop in and buy souvenirs.

Impressive place that is well maintained, clean and informative. Helpful and friendly interpreters. Such a pretty setting on the water. There is quite a bit of walking in case you have limited mobility. I was impressed by all the recreations of living spaces, barracks etc. Very reasonably priced. We spent two hours seeing it all. Recommend.

The new interpretive centre for the HMS Tecumseth is incredible. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our afternoon strolling the grounds and learning about Navy life in the mid 1800's

Price is very reasonable! It took us about hour and a half to walk through the site. Although it is operating under COVID-19, it is set up nicely and easy to follow. HMS Tecumseth is going to be getting a long overdue face-lift starting in 2022 to 2025. She'll be something to see once done!

If u r visiting the local area of Penetanguishne them u should visit this place. Its beautiful and nostalgic. An outdoor museum, so don't go on a super hot day???? There is somewhere to eat, which stays open longer than the museum. (We only had drinks)

We genuinely love discovery harbor. We frequently attend events here and as always they rarely disappoint. This year we attended pumpkin ferno. Which unfortunately was disappointing. I get the focus has changed and now the terror zone has become the main focus. But the lay out and scale back of pumpkin attraction. I did see a massive turn out for terror zone and congrats on that successful attraction , we just have little ones who this is no longer geared for.

Lots to do, especially during special events. Good value ticket prices if you buy them online. Ample parking + shuttle bus due to the special event. Easily accessible bathrooms. My son and I visited Discovery Harbour for one of the Long Ship events during one summer weekend. There was a big War of 1812 battle re-enactment with many people participating. There were dozens of white, army tents pitched in neat military rows near the lake. We got to see canons, soldiers from the British and American sides and both sides "fighting" it out in historic formation. There were also other historic figures such as a barrel cooper and field surgeon. It was very exciting. In addition to the battle, there were merchants hawking their wares, historical displays and the permanent exhibits on the grounds, such as the remains of the hull of the Tecumseth. And of course, there were also the the tall ships. We were able to go below two of the tall ships and it was really interesting to see the differences between a modern sailing ship and the historical replica of the one from the 1800s. Note: I have modified some of the photos of the soldiers to help maintain their privacy. I just applied some artistic filters to the actual photos.

Discovery Harbour is a virtual treasure trove of knowledge, history, special events, theater, piers, nature, food and beverages. It was a great pleasure to see the Tall Ships that were docked there in 2019. At times, staff will not only be dressed in period costumes, they will enact daily life and/or memorable events. Every staff/security member I met was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Thank you all for making my visit a memorable one! Beautiful location, lots of things to do and see for every budget. We went to Pumpkinferno, which really impressive. The area looks absolutely beautiful, even in the dark. The harbour was lit with the lights of homes and cottages and looked magical. The Pumpkinferno display was amazing also and the scare maze was a hoot????

For visit on Friday 13th July, 2018. Admission price is reasonable, displays are many and varied, with interesting / engaging history. Staff are amazing, friendly, and knowledgeable. The replica ships of the H.M.S. Bee and H.M.S. Tecumseth are beautiful and amazing, but does need some much needed work which I hope the Province of Ontario and Canadian Federal Government will provide.

Historical building and place, must visit when you visit this area. Place is scenic and beautiful with lake view, we were not allowed to visit the museum due to Covid-19. It has a restaurant which was also nice but we were not have time for food. The ancient ships were also amazing. This place has lots of photography potential. Enjoyed visiting with family.

For people interested in history and especially naval history from the War of 1812 era, this is absolutely a must. A recreated H.M.S.Tecumseth is the highlight of the attraction but every exhibit is wonderful. They even have live musket firing demos to show how tough it was to be a soldier on the front line. Discovery Harbour is spread out over a km however so be prepared to walk.

A beautiful historic site, right on the waterfront! We had an amazing breakfast at Captain Robert's Table onsite. The historic site is so much larger than you would expect. With covid restrictions, there weren't many interpreters but we still had a wonderful visit and look forward to going again when things are back to normal.

Perfect setting in a harbour with a well attended restaurant with a large outdoor patio. There is a nominal $5.00 per person to tour the site. Self guiding tour takes about one hour. The theme is the War of 1812, the Americans vs. British. The gentleman at entrance was very informative.

I recently visited this site with my students. It is unlikely that I will return with a group, although I may with my own family. The site is excellent, the buildings are interesting and well appointed and furnished with items from the period. Our guides booked were not able to give the tour in French as requested nor did they appear very well informed of the site, invested in the tour, or enthusiastic to be working with kids. The tours were also much shorter than advertised.

Wow. This place is amazing if you love Canadian history and have time to walk, see, read and imagine. Is a museum of history. I had a wonderful time. You get a map at the entrance. Everything has number and explain. Each station has a tour guide. We asked them to tell us. They are amazing. So much history. At the end beautiful brand new museum. A must !!!! Lovely restaurant at the entrance!! We spend like 3 hours !! Amazing!!

Would recommend a visit. The staff are extremely friendly. You most certainly get what you pay for here. It's a very good museum that brings history back to life! You will need a few hours to explore everything. There is definitely a need to walk around a lot as the premises are quite a bit stretched out - so be prepared to walk!

I went to Pumpkinferno with the kids. It was a decent time, considering that's it was only $8 a person to enter. Kids loved it. The fact that the pumpkins are artificial, kind of takes away the allure, but for $8, it is what it is.

Went here on a very hot day with my Husband and 5yrs Grandson we stood for a couple of minutes to be seated no one came my husband sat down I went in and there are staff having a ball not bothering I said can we have a drink on the patio one turned around without a mask and said yeh in a min. We waited 10mins no one came, Discovery Harbour dont start crying wolf that you lost money during the pandemic when you did not want to make money in the first place. Where is management in that place shame on you

Didnt go to the theater but walked around the area nice but little empty felling needs more artefacts but still eas nice
