Strathcona Island Park has a water park for kids and others who don't wanna grow up, picnic areas, natural areas, walking paths, wildlife and more. A beautiful spot in any season. My favorite place in the park is the pond. It's usually pretty quiet and laid back; a nice place to read a book or just do nothing.

It's always such a pleasure to go to Strathcona Island both winter and summer, it's nice just to sit by the river and they have nice walking trails. There is times to catch wildlife such as deer, rabbits, the odd snake, lots of birds!

There was lots for kids to do. They really enjoyed the spray park. And there were benches for us adults to relax at. Benches made you lean back awkwardly, but I was grateful for a place to sit

Love going to Strathcona. Very beautiful during the fall season to go for a long stroll through the park and down some of the scenic trails. Not too many people go to visit it which means you will most likely have parts of the park to yourself for the most part. It has nice playground equipment, and a boat launch for those who want to go on the south Saskatchewan river. Definitely worth a visit if you happen to be in Medicine Hat.

I was walking down here with my dog and came across a deer. Surprisingly my dog wasnt bothered and wasn't agressive whatsoever, then the deer lunged at my dog. We then walked away from the deer, the deer followed me from the baseball diamond to the park. Be careful out there if u have a dog.

Beautiful. Lovely place to spend of you want out of the unfortunately they cut down alot of trees to put up thr river berm. ( not a good idea since trees help hold the river banks)

Love the park. Just wish the city would redo many of the paths that require it. Also maybe get rid of the gross red brick trails and pave those as well. Otherwise great park with lots to walk, and things to do.

Love this place - the play parks are awesome, there's places to have a picnic + fire (and bathrooms but I've never had to use them). There's also boating access, TONS of walking paths, unfenced off-leash areas *all the dogs and humans have been great around me and my puppy so far*, and a tennis court + outdoor summer pool at the entrance. I believe theres also an outdoor rink, basketball hoops, and I do remember them having horseshoe pits. There's also the baseball diamond and an interpreter center building (though I haven't been in since I was a kid). Lions park is attached via the walking paths at the entrance as well! Theres more playground equipment and outdoor workout equipment etc...

This has been one of my favorite parks in Medicine Hat for over thirty years. They updated the park a few years back and that just made it better. If you love your children, you will bring them here to play on the playground or play in the splash park.

Strathcona Park is wonderful. I love that there are paths close to the river. They have many picnic tables and most have firepits.

Easy to get to. Parking lot is treed, so you an get some shade in those hot, sunny days. The playstructure is great for kids and has the foam floor. The splash pad is free and a lot of fun. There are a lot of picnic tables and benches. Washrooms on site. They even have a badeball stadium in the same area.

Strathcona Island Park is an urban nature preserve that showcases southeast Alberta's diverse habitat. Situated between the South Saskatchewan River and Seven Persons Creek, you'll find an abundance of deer, beaver, antelope, moose, and other wildlife. The park itself is not maintained in a traditional sense. If a tree falls, it remains in a natural state to let nature take its course. You'll find a number of paved and unpaved paths, ball diamonds, a splash park, accessible playground, boat launch and more. It's especially beautiful in the summer.

Only ever really use the boat launch here. Its somewhat shallow but can just keep backing up till the boat comes off. Can be busy but the lack of weekend idiots with ski boats makes it all flow smooth.

The waterpark is a great place to bring the kids, view some of the wildlife like deer and if you're lucky catch some storks fishing in the river! There are plenty of picnic spots, and more than a few fire pits and BBQ areas for get-togethers with friends and family alike. Go spend a day fishing, catch some baseball at the field, and connect with nature! It's really a beautiful place to get grounded!

Fantastic day at Strathcona Island Park today with the family. The park wasn't too busy with lots of room on the park benches, free BBQ stands or the vast picnic areas. Lots for the kids to do in the splash park, play area, water sport along the seskachewan river or just go for a walk.

Out of all the parks in the hat I feel it's in the right spot. By the river. By a small pond theres a waterpark. Rubber ground instead of gravel. My favorite park to take my child to.

Came for a visit from Calgary and it was similar to Fish Creek Provincial Park. I saw quite a few deer....it was unfortunate a dog off leash chased them away. The paths were easy on the feet and knees. We went in the evening so there was lots of parking and not much people traffic. Too bad the washroom doors were locked....I would have expected them to be open and usable as long as the park gates are unlocked.

Beautiful surroundings. Well-kept. A great place within the city to get all your outdoor experiences. We saw deer, a woodpecker, a giant wasp's nest sans wasps that we could see, and when we tired of the paved trails, the river beckoned. Then, when that lost its appeal, there was still the wonderful park and waterpark.

Beautiful park and trails. Riding bikes at times was a real hazard trying to avoid tree branches hitting faces. Unfortunately weeds this year were left to the point of narrowing the trails and only a small portion was taken care of it, it was left littering the trails unsure if the stems were weeds or snakes at times. Grateful for the washroom facilities and hope that the city will take into consideration that many people in winter still use these parks and need the washroom facilities to be open year round. Still we are thankful for the trails but maintenance was lacking this year.
