Nice park. Showers, beach, and playground. Close to the Fortress of Louisburg and Sydney. Wooded camp sites or an open field if prefered.
Great provincial park close to the Fortress of Louisbourg National historic site. Very clean, well maintained and a friendly attentive staff. Beach on site among other things (FYI: Brackish water). Visited here with my family in mid August and it was pretty warm with high humidity (30°C) but you're seconds away from places to swim and cool off.
Beach is very nice, water was calm. Could use some picnic tables by the beach
Spent 2 nights here with the family. Loved this spot! Very nice campground with large sites. The washrooms were open with limited hours due to COVID, but they were always super clean. The outhouses (for after hours) could have used a bit more cleaning and TP stocking. There is a beach on site which is perfect if you have small kids. Would definitely return.
Very clean and quiet.
One of my favourite provincial parks to camp at! Very clean facility and love the very private campsites. All sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Our site also had access to the river. We will be back!
Great place for camping
Great family campground!
Beautiful
Nice park..could use more shower facilities
(Translated) A corner to discover. Excellent place as a base for visiting the area.
The water was amazing
The campground is amazing. Realizing due to Covid the facilities are down to about half service in Provincial Parks the grounds and washrooms were clean the garbage collection area was clean no big loads waiting for pickup. The River area was beautiful, the swimming beach was clean and pretty empty the boat launch well maintained. The sites were clean and huge compared to some of the Private campgrounds we utilized in the past 3 weeks. 2 it if 3 for services. No septic hook up but they had really nice 2 lane dumps. All in all it was exceptionally nice and I would highly recommend this Campground to any tenter, small RV or right up to the biggest you can get they have a site for everyone.
(Translated) Nice provincial park. Spacious places only to capture a place via the yellow telephone is bad. It takes a long time and then our NL name is still a problem. Is better arranged in British Columbia with an envelope where you put money or write down your credit card number. Is it neatly debited .... (Original) Mooi provinciaal park.
Great park,
good spot with family and kits
Nice that there's a wheelchair access to the water, also did for those with some mobility issues.
We had a really great time at this park. We lucked out and got a great site on the river. The sites on that part of the campground are wonderfully wooded and there is a fair amount of space between each site so you aren’t sitting on top of each other. These are the non-powered sites of course. The powered sites are all in a field in the middle. The amenities are great but one of my biggest beefs with all campgrounds are that they put the best washroom facilities in the section with the power sites for RVs. And RV campers for the most part don’t even use the washrooms because they have their own in their units. So all the tenting folks have to schlep to the completely other side of the campground to use the facilities. It’s nuts and it’s like this in most campgrounds so this one isn’t an anomaly. On the up side, they had great firewood and the staff was great. And a bonus part for me was that this campground has its own private cemetery. I don’t think it is officially part of the park, but it is there, and since I love exploring cemeteries this was a bonus for me. Oh and, a really amazing beach and great beach facilities. All around great memories.
Nice sites on the water.
It's just so beautiful I love it!????
Great place to stay. Clean ... Friendly staff. Low prices tooo.
Big sites. Plenty of shade. Boat launch. Beach with warm water.
Great location and beautiful view!!
Among the best campsites I've ever seen in any park or private campground
Our first visit and will be back. Like all provincial parks, site was clean and a good size. Great location half way between Louisburg and Sydney. The water was jot potable during our stay.
Loved the camp ground lots of room between sites
Mira River Park is a very well maintained and laid out park. The facilities (toilets, showers etc) are clean, neat and kept in good repair. Paths, roads are well groomed. Camp sites are generous and well spaced. Back ins are easily negotiable, even for larger units and drive throughs excellent. Tent sites are very well positioned and also easily accessible. Downside is the signage to the park is not very well done until one is actually at the main entrance. We will visit this park again ????????
Lots of wildlife. A bald eagle, friendly baby ducks, and 2 whales on the blanket next to me
Park is spacious and beautiful with powered and none powered sites with open areas and private sites, walk in tenting sites and large rv sites, everything is up to date and always improving. Park has a boat launch, private campers beach and a public beach with plenty of parking, there are two bathroom facilities for campers with full showers and laundry with wash stations for dishes and another bathroom on public beach. Open fields, walking trails, swimming, boating and Kayaking. There is also a recreation building for events or shelter. Staff is very friendly, helpful and professional and they keep this park looking beautiful. Right beside main office is a new spacious double rv dump station which can accommodate and size rv.
Beautiful wooded camping area. The sights are plenty close when a party is going on at the next sight but perfect otherwise. The facilities were definitely not up to par. One of the two outhouses in our area was closed. Showers close at 7.
Great campsites for tenting or trailers/RV. Big campground, our site was very private, washrooms cleaned daily, maybe more. Very happy with our 4 night stay.
Love being surrounded by nature (I could do without the mosquito bites though!). Unplug and enjoy!
(Translated) Very nice campsite (Original) Très beau camping
Great quiet park, nice bathrooms and lots. Small nice swimming area on the river. Would return again.
Nice private sites. The sound of the loons at night is very serene.
Beautiful
Beautiful park. Camped here years ago and have been wanting to return ever since. Nice private sites available and pleanty to explore!
Great park camp sites are large and peaceful. Love going for a get away
(Translated) Mira River Provincial Park is located in the Fortress of Louisbourg region of Nova Scotia. It is a good place to serve as a base camp to visit the area. The campsite is very extensive, well equipped and clean. However, there does not seem to be a lot of staff to enforce the rules and some sections were rather noisy, because of campers' external sound systems, but all that can change with a new group of camper. We give 3 *** to this campsite.
I really like this park! It's beautiful and accommodating but the only thing is the fire wood is damp and hard to burn.
Great camping there!
Lots of river access. Not very busy during the week. Clean facilities.
Beautiful, simple campground with a stunning view. Great place to unwind!
(Translated) Beautiful well maintained park (Original) Beau parc bien entretenue
Great campground with great sites
Great Provincial Park to go camping in
I have to rate 3 stars because there are only 2 serviced bathrooms with toilets, sinks and showers for over 200 camp sites! People clearly would rather use the bushes than the vault toilets that stink up the road ways. There was TP in the bushes around sites.. The campground itself is 5 star for size of sites, wooded, BEAUTIFUL. But the bathrooms. They're too far away, spread out. And the showers are press on, 1 stall I had to press twice my entire shower. The other, it ran 10 seconds each time. My husband said the one in the men's ran 3 seconds. It was painful to shower and having to keep pressing the button. And 2 of the 5 toilet stalls actually locked. I was really shocked about this provincial campground and lack of well functioning bathrooms. I know water conservation is important but the frustration of the camper's isn't worth it. Also, with the rangers only working till 11 on week days and 12am on weekends, parties continued into the night. My husband had to go tell some people at a campsite to turn off their music at 130am on a Sunday because they had their hatchback up with music and base playing loud and while they nicely said sorry and turned it off, they didn't realize base travels around? our camp neighbours complained to us the next day that it had kept them up too. We complained in the office but there should be a number to call or a 24/7 ranger on site cause I was nervous for my husband when he had to take matters in his own hands.
Great spot to go camping, and nice beach
Always Great
Love it
Favorite of my family for swimming and camping.
(Translated) Beautiful campsite near Sydney. The sites are spacious and intimate (for the most part). The staff is very friendly. Beach accessible on foot. For the asking price ($ 26 for a site without service), it is difficult to find better.
Tent or rv close to gas grocery restaurant halfway between Sydney and Louisbourg
Very nice and spacious park lots of friendly people
Great campground with warmer water for swimming than the ocean. Nice playground and facilities. Was pretty quiet when we're visited mid summer.
Lovely campground, amazing staff, clean restrooms and outhouses. Campsites are spacious for tenting.
new renovations better facilities
Beautiful place for a short hike and a dip in the river.
Horrable they changed everything thing around and frigged it up
During our three week trip with RV in Nova Scotia this was one of the best campgrounds. Lots of free space to play. We had a site directly with waterfront. It was really quiet and we enjoyed one night without any issues. In contrast to many reports we had surprisingly no bugs.
Great tenting area. Cheap ice and wood. Close to a great take out place called toadettes take out.
Beautiful views, friendly staff, amazing facilities.
Had a blast at the beach in Mira Provincial Park as usual.. love it there!
Not very impressed with facilities at this campground! Too few showers for 200+ campsites. Busy weekend and one of two shower buildings was completely closed! Could've easy had three to service the traffic! That toilets were just sorta port a John style with no hand sanitizer, and were serviced only once a day! Other than that it seems to be a great place to camp!
(Translated) Cries and noise until late at night. Music. We had booked for 3 nights, we left after two. Very unpleasant experience. In addition security patrols cease at 23h. If you are looking for a quiet campsite go somewhere else. Zero star.
Was very nice to spend day for swimming...planning on camping there soon.
Awesome place. Staff are very friendly. Sites are large, lots of room.
The river water was very warm allowing for a cool reprieve from the hot summer air. Excellent for camping with family, friends and new found friends! Very clean and well maintained grounds makes it attractive for all visitors. All amenities nearby. Relax and enjoy one of the best Provincial parks on Cape Breton Island.
Laundry, showers, dish-washing stations... Perfect for our one-night stay. I wouldn't want to stay for an extended length of time though. There is a swim area, but the beach is tiny and not sandy at all. If you're passing through it has what you need. If you're looking for a place to spend a week, you could do better.
Nice clean beach. Would be nice to have a food truck or something there
Beautiful park , nice and clean
love mira Park
Very nice campground !!
Really nice campground
One of the best places around to camp traylor or tent a really great place
I have camped at this campground my entire life and this weekend has the worst experience! We decided to have a family get together and we booked 7 sites all together with children from 1-16 ranging in age I felt completely harassed by the people patrolling the campground!!! I 100% understand and agree with them driving around keeping an eye on everything I think that's great BUT when u drive around with your lights out in the dark I think is completely unacceptable not only are you putting children in danger but adults as well! At one point they stopped there vehicles turned it off directly in front of the campsite which terrified my young niece. When we approached and asked if there was and issue they said no so we asked why did you do that and they Denied it! Well we had a great chat with the conservation officer they they sent to us because they said we "scared" them. Also another issue was the "campground host" travelled to all of our families sites and addressed her self as the "campground host also a retired rcmp officer" felt like we were trying to be intimidated by her. This was a family get together with all our children we didn't even have music on during the evening because most of the kids were in bed by 8 pm so they can't even use the excuse we were to loud I have stayed there soooooo many times and every provincial park around here and I have never felt like I was being watched like I did this weekend. Not to mention when I went and asked for a complaint form as directed by the conservation officer they pulled out green forms then put them down and passed me a note pad and told me to fill out my information on that so I said never mind I will try on line! Terrible experience!
Great family friendly campground and lots for the kids to do
Enjoyed our stay, we'll be back, thanks
The park is very nice and the comfort station clean , but the shoulder season camp site self registration system is less than desirable and is something that needs to be worked on .
Great place to camp with friends and family
(Translated) Great !!! clean, friendly friendly beautiful grounds. The only thing these are still very big, at the beginning of our course there was a lot of smart grass so be careful with your child. (Original) Super !!! propre, personnelle sympathique beau terrain.
Large camping lots...great patrons and staff. Beach...boat launch and plenty of room to bike and walk.
Great park, excellent sites and superb showers.
Love walking and camping here
(Translated) The place was ok. The games were obsolete and some wastes here and there. We still have a good time with family in this park.
Beautiful quiet beach!
Lovely spot #154!
Stayed 2 nights in the campground. Large sites, interior roads in good condition, beaches, clean, well patrolled. Beautiful park. Would stay again.
Beautiful facility. Stunning views of the Mira. Lovely private camp sites. Last nights harvest moon was excellent to see over the Mira.
Always love staying at this campground, sites are very open but spread far enough apart. Beach was fairly gross due to the geese but that was no fault of the park staff. Will continue to return year after year
Cosy, clean, great location. Need improved playground and more signage for speed limit in campground.
I loved the location however I wasn't a fan of only porta potties all over and with there only being 1 area to shower
Great park. Nice size lots. Facilities very clean and well maintained.
(Translated) We had paid to book for three nights, arriving on the spot we notice that the reservation was made two weeks before and we are kindly told that we lost $ 89 booking fee. Horrible. Horrible.
An excellent site...lots to do...couldnt believe how big it is. Reasonably priced for all services $37.60 a nite...checkout 1pm.
Nice Place for camping
So beautiful but lots of partiers
Great on the river
Great family place lack of canteen services is frustrating
(Translated) The park is beautifully situated, surrounded by water on all sides.

Clean beach, easy access.
Very spacious, clean and friendly! Recommended!!
(Translated) Very beautiful pitches, spacious, beautiful view, clean sanitary facilities. (Original) De très beaux emplacements, spacieux, belle vue, sanitaires propres.
Great location, friendly staff, bathrooms under renovations but still kept up.
Great place. Nice helpful folks. Suggested a few places we should go. Again we didn't use their amenities , only hookups, because our camper has everything. Bill and Linda Lane of montpelier, va
As always it could use more parking.
Beautiful.
Cold water at showers
Great place!
Lovely park, lots of privacy. Close to gas stations and stores. Beautiful trails.
Great campground, very clean facilities, big spots, some in the woods. Relatively centrally located between Sydney And Fort Louisbourg. Only downside this year, were the amazing amount of earwigs, but of course that is out of control of the campground. Just grosses us out.
Nice clean campsite, was very quite when we arrived but there was almost nobody there so I would image it gets noisy when it's full since there is really no privacy between sites. Decent amenities, cheap firewood.
Stayed here several times in 2021, in main loop close to entrance with serviced (power, water) sites. Also explored all other loops a few times. Sites are generous in size and well maintained. Lawns and sites are mowed frequently, staff in office and throughout campground are friendly. It’s a large campground with 200 + sites but only 2 buildings with too few showers. Showers are free. Shower buildings are cleaned daily. Firewood available, 5$ bundle, and mostly dry and burns good. Beach in day use area is popular. There is really only 1 hiking trail which leads to nowhere and loops back on itself. There are a few other paths through the woods but these are just shortcuts to other loops or the main road, so not much to explore. The fenced cemetery is nearby and interesting to visit if that’s what you like. A private food truck was parked most of the season by the main driveway leading into the park, but it was seldom open, it was delayed opening for some reason, then had very irregular hours for one reason or another (rainy, maintenance issues, etc) which differed from their posted business hours on their window. Don’t rely on getting a meal or snack from the food truck because it’s definitely not reliable. If NS parks enter into a business relationship with private vendors such as this food truck, they should ensure the business will provide the service to campers, otherwise don’t allow private businesses on the property.
Lovely park for camping in a beautiful setting. We had some noisy campers next to us, but the staff came and quieted them down.
Water was beautiful scenery was great a good way to cool off .
Beautiful campground with plenty of nice campsites. Surrounded by beautiful lakes.
Nice campground, there's a lot of sites and choices, almost all closed the ocean
Beautiful
Bad a fantastic 5 day vacation here
Beautiful park. Fantastic staff. Big, open, private sites. Great restrooms. 10 out of 10!
Had such a good weekend camping!
Wonderful place to stop for a picnic. No tables available so make sure you pack something to sit on.
